1841  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Native Americans Call on Buffalo New York to Change Its Racist Insensitive Name on: March 08, 2015, 06:56:53 AM
Wow, does Mark Beasley have any evidence that the choice of the city's name was due to some discrimination or cause discrimination currently? He could succeed and have the name removed and the memory of the indians fade with it.

Instead of trying to erase Native American history Mark Beasley should do things to promote Native American history, and Buffalo, New York would be gracious to have such publicity.

Navajo indians aren't even from the area where Buffalo is located in the US. The Navajo are from the Arizona/Utah area!

What does the Seneca Tribe have to say about all this?
1842  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NYPD Says Innocent, Unarmed People Shot By Cops Are ‘Walking Into Police Bullets on: March 08, 2015, 06:50:57 AM
Hahaha, great pics.

I think the cops are sick of people who are doing criminal or suspicous things getting pissed that the cops are in their face. People can be very self centered. If you're being a shady character you should expect the heat to follow.
1843  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Greece Proposes Using Tourists as Tax Spies to Fill Shortfall... on: March 08, 2015, 06:47:24 AM
Sounds like a good plan. The Greeks need to either do away with the services they can't afford or pay their fucking share of their taxes...you can't refuse to pay taxes and then be pissed that the government has to resort to austerity measures.

Where do I sign up? I'll take a trip to Greece to do some sleuthing on their dime!
1844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question about the price gap between BTC-E and Bitstamp on: March 08, 2015, 06:40:20 AM
It's tough to say for sure without more information. What's the difference in the bid/ask spread between BTC-e and Bit Stamp? The spread is the difference between the bid (what someone will pay) and the ask (what someone will sell for). That difference is usually the fee the exchange or trader keeps for bringing the buyer and the seller together. If there isn't a spread then it's possible that Bit Stamp's higher price is due to them adding a fee into their trading so they can make some money for their services.

At worst you know that you should buy BTC from BTC-e (lower price) and sell your BTC on or to Bit Stamp (higher price)!
1845  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pyramid investing in Bitcoin?> on: March 08, 2015, 06:34:46 AM
Which companies are falling for this sort of stuff? They should do better research!
1846  Other / Meta / Re: Starting off as newbie member on: March 08, 2015, 06:05:13 AM
Activity is a time game. You can earn one point for every day you've been active (e.g., every day since you joined the forum) OR one point for every post, which ever is less. The fastest way to "activity up" is to have one post for every day since you've been active.

Also, if someone has fewer posts than days active they will show a rank equal to their post count. They can quickly get current to their number of days active by posting several times in a single day to equal the earned activity level. The updates are reflected every thirty minutes.
1847  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A low Bitcoin is a good Bitcoin on: March 08, 2015, 05:58:12 AM
But don't stay low for too long.  Grin it's bad in terms of morale.
So now it's a good time and opportunity to buy. Let's push up demand and price.

No, it's not bad in terms of morale. That's what the OP is saying, the speculation (i.e., the "to the moon talk") is hurting widespread use and acceptance of BTC as a currency.
1848  Economy / Services / Re: Money Drop For The Homeless on: March 08, 2015, 05:32:13 AM
At worst this sounds like an awful scam. At best this is terribly insensitive way to help the homeless.

How arrogant of you to drop money from the sky over homeless people or poor areas. You don't have any respect for those you help.
1849  Economy / Services / Re: NBA Fixed games on: March 08, 2015, 05:25:08 AM
Which game(s)?

I'm in for BTC0.20.

When will we get confirmation?
1850  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Parent Calls 911 When School Will Not Release Child. Refusal To Take Common Core on: March 08, 2015, 05:18:55 AM
I find that this is strange that a school will not let their child go during a test upon the request of the parents, is this happening everywhere in the USA and it needs a call on 911 to help sort the issue out?
Wow, laws in the US are really weird. Whats the need to call 911 on just about that . Kind of a stupid thing to do .

You're misunderstanding what happened. The school WASN'T following the laws, which is why the parent called 911, to get the police to enforce the laws.
1851  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase. :-( on: March 08, 2015, 05:12:54 AM
Any reason for why it for cancelled?  Coinbase isn't the same wallet/exchange it was before all the updates. A few years ago.

According to them it was for, "After an assessment of your account activity."

The only account activity was the 2 purchases listed above.

Have you confirmed your identity to them and followed the step to verify? I know that they have canceled orders in the past when the prices have moved wildly. I have been using them for several months and never had orders canceled.

All the requested banking information was provided and confirmed.

OG, you gotta call them. Their office is in San Francisco in the US, call them and figure out what happened.
1852  Economy / Economics / Re: Buy now or wait ? $41,000 to invest in bitcoins and litecoins on: March 08, 2015, 05:10:34 AM
So what happened, what did you go with?

If you buy all at once will you tell us when so we can sell when the price jumps? Thanks.
1853  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Is A Major Difficulty For World’s Central Bankers on: March 08, 2015, 01:48:15 AM
It's interesting that the ECB sees the lack of refund rights as a "flaw" rather than just a con or difference from traditional banking system. While the lack of refund rights is a risk it certainly eliminates some elements of fraud in the existing transaction system.
1854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: blockchain.info now shows CHINA mining 54% of BTC on: March 08, 2015, 01:39:22 AM
To the OP, what's your take on these stats? Is this alarming? Is it expected? Why should we care that folks in China make up 54% of BTC mining today?
1855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do we expand access to bitcoin to developing nations? on: March 08, 2015, 01:36:53 AM
Here:

BitX was founded in February 2013 and is headquartered in Singapore, with a development team in Cape Town and a satellite office in Palo Alto. We are currently also present in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Africa, Namibia, Kenya and Nigeria.

https://bitx.co/about

Prepaid phones everywhere with: https://www.piiko.com/

I wouldn't consider Singapore, South Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, the US or the Philippines developing nations. And just because they have offices there doesn't mean they enable the poor to access bitcoin. Do you have any information on how Bitx is enabling the poor?
1856  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any European ski resorts with businesses that accept Bitcoin? on: March 08, 2015, 01:34:07 AM
If you can't find resorts that accept BTC consider the sites that offer deals on the lift tickets, those retailers may accept BTC. Good luck and send us some pics of your turns on the slopes!
1857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dr Monica Barratt on Academic studies of SilkRoad and Bitcoin on: March 08, 2015, 01:21:20 AM
So what does th Dr. have to say about everything? What is her PhD in?
1858  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin For Retail on: March 07, 2015, 11:40:29 PM
Where do you keep your personal wallets?

Or ask this question in the Marketplace section.
1859  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you make money with Bitcoin? on: March 07, 2015, 11:25:16 PM
How do you make money in any currency?

Earn, sell, trade, steal (the last part is not condoned by me or Bitcointalk.org, hahaha).

Bitcoin is merely another currency, it operates the same as other currencies.

Beware of companies that will offer you rediculous percent return in a day for your bitcoin, they're likely a scam.
1860  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have USD 2000 to invest. Should I buy Bitcoins or gold? on: March 07, 2015, 11:23:04 PM
Why not go 50/50...$1000 in BTC and $1000 in Gold?

Or...just through it down on the almighty BTC and let it ride....you gotta let it ride!
