1361  Economy / Speculation / Re: How would it affect bitcoin price if the Nasdaq went full bitcoin on: June 26, 2015, 06:49:55 AM
Could someone mathmatically explain the possibilities of such an integration?  It seems to me like the whole thing could be done with 100 bitcoins since thet are divisible by 8 places.  Maybe a thousand at most.

Any thoughts?

To do what you're proposing in the quantity of bitcoin you're proposing the price of bitcoin would have to be manipulated to meet the total value of transactions that occur on the NASDAQ...are you a fan of price manipulation of currency?
1362  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Shanghai Denies PX Plans as Thousands Protest Over Pollution Fears on: June 26, 2015, 06:41:46 AM
These pictures are great! It's the will of the People at it's finest. There's no stopping the power of peaceful assembly - stop everything and protest and change will happen. The real test is how much one really cares about the cause.
1363  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Apple Removes All American Civil War Games From the App Store Showing the Flag on: June 26, 2015, 06:35:00 AM
Apple's move is no different than the stance countries take on visa applications from other countries, would you call that politically correct? It's akin to "No shoes, no shirt, no service."

Apple isn't censoring anything, they're just choosing not to be a disseminator of those games. The game can still be used, sold, enjoyed by anyone who wants it...they just can't do it through Apple. That's not politically correct, it's business.

1364  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Vancouver becomes first Canadian city to regulate growing marijuana market on: June 26, 2015, 06:21:30 AM
I'm not surprised. Vancouver has been marijuana friendly for a long time, it's more of a surprise that it took this long for legislation like this to come about, but of course politics are an interesting thing. I wonder if this will cause any new growth or just legitimize what's been going on for a long time?
1365  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Apple Removes All American Civil War Games From the App Store Showing the Flag on: June 26, 2015, 06:14:56 AM
I can't stand this level of PC-pandering. It's ridiculous. If you're offended by a game or anything in it - don't play the game. Problem solved. And what's next? Removing Shindler's List and Inglorious Basterds from itunes? I love how they've been fine with the confederate flag up until a couple of weeks ago.

Haha, "PC-pandering", you're funny.

So it's just politically correct to not be racist?

So it's just politically correct to not condone slavery?

So it's just politically correct to not condone the ownership of another human being?

That's what the Confederacy stood for. That's what that flag stands for. Did you know that in Germany, where the Nazi flag is banned, the Confederate flag is used during neo-Nazi protests? It's a symbol for hate. It shouldn't be illegal for one to own it, but those that celebrate it celebrate all that it stands for.

I'm glad Apple doesn't stand for or support racism, slavery, or the ownership of another human being. And I'm OK with the fact that as a business they made a decision to not be in the cross-hairs of a newly sparked controversy that has been going on in the US for a very, very long time.
1366  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Casascius, Lealana, bhcoins **9 x bhcoin left** on: June 25, 2015, 06:54:29 AM
Care to share the prices of the coins sold? This kind of information is valuable and tracked.

Congrats on your sales.
1367  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin survey on: June 24, 2015, 04:33:03 AM
And which school are you attending? I'd like to know which University will be benefiting from your research and our polling time. It would be nice of you to give us a glimpse of the findings from your survey when you're done. We spend time filling these surveys out, the least you can do is spend time sharing with us what you found from our contribution.
1368  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: June 24, 2015, 04:30:08 AM
What if this post was started by the tax man, and he's making a tally of all the public declarations of income people leave every day. Then all the tax man has to do is figure out who owns each username to determine how much income they bring in from Bitcoin and how much tax should be due as a result?

That would be wild, right? It possible...this would be a great front for tax collection activities.
1369  Other / Meta / Insert Hyperlink option is outdated, can it be removed? on: June 24, 2015, 04:22:52 AM
So the insert hyperlink button still appears at the top of the comment box when making a post, but if one types a url - www.yahoo.com - the website address automatically turns into a hyperlink. Seems like the button has become obsolete, should it be removed as a default option from the post menu?

Thanks.

I have IT skills, how do I earn bitcoin through "bug reports".

Is this like test bug reports? Educate me!
1372  Economy / Economics / Re: 62% of New Millionaires come from Asia on: June 23, 2015, 08:38:00 PM
Likely sooner. Good growth can have accelerating growth rates.

Asian folks are definitely hiding/stashing their wealth in Western property, in some cases they don't ever live in the property!

But, is this a bad thing? If they earn their wealth in Asia and then come to Europe or the US to spend it, is it not a good source of wealth distribution? They're bringing wealth into the countries that want/need it!
1373  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Isis 'crucifies children for not fasting during Ramadan' in Syria on: June 23, 2015, 08:30:24 PM
Killing their own now, if it wasn't so atrocious it would almost be funny.

When will this group disappear due to their irrelevance in the way religion and the world works. What do sinners or manipulators of Islam have waiting for them in eternity?
1374  Other / Politics & Society / Re: New global currency to replace the dollar as the reserve currency Oct 20th 2015? on: June 23, 2015, 08:27:49 PM
Sponsored by one fast food company, one discount box store, and one board game company...classic characterization of how foreign countries copy the USA.

I can't watch the video, what reasons does the guy provide to support his claim that a new world reserve currency will be chosen?
1375  Other / Politics & Society / Re: political parties pay for fake supporters on: June 23, 2015, 08:25:19 PM
Don't US Republicans have the same claim of US Democrat politicians, since they offer handouts and entitlement programs as a part of their platform? It's like compensating for votes.
1376  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS reportedly gives away sex slaves as 'prizes' in Koran contest on: June 23, 2015, 08:21:08 PM
Anyone here part of the Islamic faith or studied it? Is this type of act - selling sex slaves, presumably rape - condoned in the Quran? Or Sharia law?

I can't imagine a religion says this type of act is a good thing, but it's hard to believe that ISIS would commit such hypocrisy as well.

Anyone educated on the topic that can provide real insight?
1377  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Brothel Offers Free Sex To Protest High Taxes on: June 23, 2015, 07:56:25 PM
Why does this have to be considered an immature protest?

The brothel owner is essentially saying he'd rather give his services of sex and booze away for free than subject his customers (and himself) to what he believes are unfairly high taxes. This is tea party type protesting! And the tea party protesting certainly wasn't "Fucking Weird" or "immature".

It sounds like you believe sex with strangers is "fucking weird" but not the protest or this guys discontent with local taxes.

What's really cool is that this stunt is likely getting a ton of press for his cause (one man bitching about taxes) AND a ton of new loyal customers, that will help his business thrive. It's a pretty smart stunt!
1378  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Iphone 6 Unlocked. on: June 23, 2015, 07:45:36 PM
I don't think the iPhone 6 was offered in 32gb, so you should revise your offer to ask for the 64gb version if you're really interested in an option with greater storage than the 16gb.
1379  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many Bitcoins are lost forever? on: June 23, 2015, 07:44:21 PM
This has to be impossible to assess realistically or with reliability. The anonymity enables each coin outstanding to remain unlinked to a source or person. Further, even if we could assign an owner to the coin we wouldn't know if the coin was lost or just being held.

Certainly a great question. Is there any way to see the count of coins that haven't had any transactions from or against it over a long period of time?

The most expensive thing I've bought with bitcoin is, well, bitcoin! Casascius baby!
