1841  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What do you think about trust wallet? on: November 13, 2022, 07:51:24 AM
So if something happens with trust wallet company and their apps become inaccessible then how i will be able to retrieve my btc,dot and other blockchain assets by using that one multi wallet mnemonic phase?
The seed phrase (also called mnemonic) generated by trustwallet is BIP39 and can be imported into many other wallets as well. Of course, this doesn't mean trustwallet is secure. Trustwallet is close source and we don't know whether they have access to users keys or not. It's also possible that you can't recover some of your altcoins due to not knowing the derivation path used by trustwallet.

The best is to avoid any close source wallet like trustwallet.
1842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: mass generation of addresses using private key on: November 12, 2022, 04:24:11 PM
Uncompressed 3... from a private key? AFAIK it's impossible.
You are right. That's not possible.
When it comes to legacy addresses, there are two legacy addresses derived from a single private key. One is derived from the uncompressed private key and the other one is derived from the compressed private key. But there's only one nested segwit address and that's derived using the compressed private key.

1844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin private key with 98 characters and starting with 3 on: November 11, 2022, 05:34:30 PM
I recently stumbled across a private key with 98 characters that starts with "3".
Are you sure that's a bitcoin private key? Maybe, it's an altcoin private key.

As far as I know, bitcoin private keys only starts with 5, K or L and is 51 and 52 characters long.
A private key starting with 5, K and L and including 51 or 52 characters is a WIF private key. That's the most common format of a bitcoin private key.
A private key can have other formats as well. For example, a private key can be in hexadecimal format and includes 64 characters (0-9 and A-F) or it can be a mini private key and includes only 22 or 30 characters.
1845  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Iancoleman BIP39 Site Changed Domain from .io to .ch? on: November 10, 2022, 06:41:00 AM
Is the wallet will generate different address in future when failed checksum? Or only warn us to carefull where nothing happen with that seed
It will be possible to generate the same addresses in the future. Electrum's source code is public and even if there's some changes in the next updates, it will be still possible to generate the same addresses.
For detecting errors, BIP39 seed phrases include a checksum and you should always use a seed phrase with correct checksum, because it's standard and it's accepted by other wallets as well. I would never recommend using a non-standard seed phrase.
1846  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Forum - Statistics 2012 vs 2022 on: November 10, 2022, 06:16:11 AM
Then, in 2022 when the average registration per day increased by more than 400% making it 301.43 registration per day, the number of online per day decreased to 127.26
I highly doubt that number is correct (even if those how have hidden their online status aren't considered as online)
According to loyce.club, more than 2100 users have made post in the past 24 hours. The number of users who have been online in the past 24 hours and the number of users who have been online per day on average should be much bigger.
1847  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Iancoleman BIP39 Site Changed Domain from .io to .ch? on: November 10, 2022, 05:57:01 AM
But if the seed phrase is less than 12 words, likely it would be rejected on reputed wallets as they are designed in a way they can not accept less than 12 word seed phrase. I have tested it on some wallets, like electrum, if less than 12, it would be rejected.
Electrum allows you to import a seed phrase with less than 12 words. It would display a message saying checksum is failed, but it generates the wallet with correct addresses successfully.
Electrum even allows you to generate seed phrases including less than 12 words using console tab.

No one has forced you to trade and there's a very simple and working solution for you.
Do not trade with the money you can't afford to lose. No one is responsible for your losses other than yourself.
1849  Economy / Speculation / Re: No more correlation with stocks? on: November 08, 2022, 04:23:05 PM
Today's decrease (not dump) in bitcoin price was probably due to the panic selling caused by FTX crisis which shouldn't have any effect on stock markets.
We shouldn't expect FTX crises to cause a drop in Nasdaq index.

In the past months all the markets have been affected by FED's decisions on raising interest rates. I think that's why we have seen same movements in bitcoin and stock markets and I don't think that will change in the coming months.
1850  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: New crypto wallet Cropty (https://www.cropty.com/)? on: November 08, 2022, 10:34:11 AM
My guess is that this wallet is custodial because you pay a fee in the currency you send so that funds are not spent from a pool of all funds, but from separate private keys that your operator manages, since he has access to your private keys initially
Your guess is wrong. They pay the network fee with the native coin and charge you using another token. That's exactly how centralized exchanges work.

the transaction will not freeze
There is no guarantee that they won't freeze your transactions.
As already mentioned above by other users, they have full control over your fund and can do everything with that. It's possible that they ask you to verify your identity at any time.

I haven't tried the wallet in question, but its seems to be same as other custodial wallets. They are the real owner of the fund and instead show you a number as your balance.
1851  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I ask you for a little advice for another G&R game. on: November 07, 2022, 06:22:12 PM
No. Unless the withdrawal fees are a large share of the 0.0016 BTC.
From my understanding from OP, Poker Player is going to pay the winner using the fund which is now in a casino. So, he has to pay the casino withdrawal fee.
Now he is asking whether he should pay the winner from the casino directly or withdraw the fund to his own wallet and then pay the winner.

but still since you brought this up,how can someone decrease their chances,is this something like the slot machine providers, well some of them offer adjustable RTP,is this some kind of the same implementation to decrease the chances of the big prizes,am just curious about this implementation.
Each time you spin the wheel, you actually get a random number between 0 and 1 billion. That number determines your prize.
To decrease the chance of winning big prizes, the changed the prize table.
For example, before the changes, for winning 5000 reward points, you needed a number between 320,000,000 and 333,274,986. Now you need a number between 331,308,320 and 332,308,319.
1853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I ask you for a little advice for another G&R game. on: November 07, 2022, 03:45:28 PM
I always make any payment from my own wallet, so I can be able to prove that I am the one who made the transaction.

The disadvantage I see to this second option is that there will be two transactions to pay and two fees.
Assuming that the network status will be as it is now and you will use a segwit address, you will be able to make the second transaction (the one from your own wallet to the winner's address) with paying less than 150 satoshi as transaction fee. That should be nothing compared to casino withdrawal fee.
Just note that you should use a non-custodial wallet that allows you set the fee rate yourself and with 1 sat/vbyte, your transaction may take a long time to be confirmed. (You may have to pay more fee if you want your transaction to be confirmed faster.)

and I know that is a predetermined roll
The rolls aren't predetermined.
The house doesn't know the outcome before you click the "play" button.

I think that clicking 200 spins within a day has much more chances of giving you more than the base prizes than the chances are by clicking a single spin for 200 days
Wrong.

And one last question how come the game is provably fair when at first when they introduced the wheel of fortune spins the 5000 prizes fell much more often than after they changed the algorithm or I don't know what?
They have decreased the chance of winning big prizes, but that doesn't mean the game isn't provably fair.
"The game is provably fair" means that you know how the outcome is determined before you play and you can verify the rolls. In a provably fair game, there is nothing hidden from the users and there is no way for the house to cheat you.

I also think that if you collect like 200 WoF and play like 200 during one day but not by clicking Play all button but to Play one, meaning to spin 200 times the wheel of fortune I am sure that you will find at least several 500 prizes and maybe one 5000 prize and why not even one or more Golden Tickets.
Since the game is provably fair, the number is determined randomly and each roll is completely independent from other rolls, there is no difference between spinning the wheel of fortune 200 times in a day and spinning it once a day for 200 days.
Also, it doesn't matter whether you play them one by one or play all with a single click.

I've observed to be receiving too many lottery tickets rewards when compared to satoshis and RPs prizes.
The chance of winning 50 reward points, 50 lottery tickets and 50 satoshi are equal to each other.
If you have won the 50 lottery tickets prize more than the two other prizes, that's just because of your luck.

Moreover, the incidence of medium (500) and high (5000) prizes have decreased considerably.
That's not something new. It's been a long time since the chance of winning each of 500 lottery tickets, 500 reward points and 500 satoshi prizes has decreased from 2% to 0.2%.
Also, the chance of winning each of 5000 reward points and 5000 satoshi is 0.1% and the chance of winning 5000 lottery tickets is 0.2%.

I bet on Liverpool to win and they won. I guess it takes a while for the money to be credited to the account, right? It's been a while since the match finished and I don't see it.
From freebitco's website:
"Winners will be declared and paid out within 48 hours of the event ending."
1857  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to get an Electrum Wallet address and verify it on: November 06, 2022, 06:34:59 PM
For the next step, what should I do to get the address and how to verify it.
To see your addresses, you can simply tap on the 3 dots button at top right corner of the  screen and select "Addresses".
You can also go to "Receive" tab and select "Request", so electrum display a new address.

What do you mean by verifying address? Do you want to verify a message? If so, signing and verifying messages isn't supported by the mobile version of electrum.
1858  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto exchanges charging for inactive accounts . Do you support this ? on: November 06, 2022, 07:51:42 AM
Imagine having a bank account and your bank suddenly starts charging you 100 USD per month only because you haven't used your bank account in one month.
You don't have any option other than using centralized services like banks for holding your fiat. When it comes to cryptocurrencies, you have the option to keep your coins in your own non-custodial wallets and be your own bank.
Exchanges have been created for trading cryptocurrencies, not for holding them and it's normal that they want to make profit.
1859  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto exchanges charging for inactive accounts . Do you support this ? on: November 06, 2022, 07:14:47 AM
Personally, I a against these charges and it affects the rate of crypto adoption. It discourages people from starting to use crypto. What is your opinion about this practice ?
I don't think that's bad.
It encourages people to withdraw their funds from the exchanges and keep them in their own (non-custodial) wallets.
Why should users keep their coins on exchanges if they don't want to trade? Exchanges shouldn't be used as wallets.
1860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 12 vs 24 seed word trade-offs? on: November 06, 2022, 06:32:21 AM
OK, but is it possible to express this in conditional percentages? How many percent is 24 words safer than 12 words? To have an idea of the degree of their difference, if we talk about security.
The entropy provided by the 24 word BIP39 seed phrase is 2128 times the entropy provided by the 12 word BIP39 seed phrase.

Let me see, if I understand correctly from the above, then bruteforcing  24-words is easier than 12-words? This is true? But then it contradicts that 24-words is safer. Or am I confusing something?
You didn't understand BlackHatCoiner correctly.
If you lose the same number of words in a 12 word seed phrase and a 24 seed phrase, brute-forcing the 24 word seed phrase would be easier.

Let's say you have 23 words of a 24 word seed phrase and 11 words of 12 word seed phrase.
On average, there would be 8 possibilities for the missing word of the 24 word seed phrase and 128 possibilities for the missing word of the 12 word seed phrase.

If you miss the whole seed phrase, the number of possible combinations in the 24 word seed phrase would be much higher.
