1861  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Setting Up a Bitcoin Node on: August 30, 2013, 11:50:27 PM
can someone compile this for windows? https://github.com/TvdW/bitpeer

Bitpeer is an experimental Bitcoin relay server. Its event-driven architecture makes it extremely fast, and it was designed to be very lightweight.

this is the creator: http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/users/4358/tom-van-der-woerdt

the creator donates 250GB a day with this software to the network !!!!!

Quote
I wrote my own lightweight tx/block relay that can easily handle up to 10000 incoming connections as long as the network connection allows it. I then tweaked it to ensure a high amount of connections (incoming or outgoing, currently ~750) and since it's usually first with relaying blocks/transactions, that causes a lot of network traffic. – Tom van der Woerdt

i need this for windows or linux  Grin but I have no idea how to build this ..  Huh

Uhmmm this is a huge security risk. If you want to use a central server I suggest using electrum which has window binaries.

This is a horrible program it does nothing and can be easily converted to a cancer node and hurt the network.

If you want to donate to the network use bitcoin-qt.

But it seems the Trade method is identical to the older versions?

So my older code should still work .. I'm somewhat confused ...

Btw: look how old the v3 announcement is. Don't think it makes sense to wait for a translation.

I mean I will take a look tonight for sure. I know that the current marketapi for btc-e isn't working, I tested so I got to see which part isn't working as should be and replace that. But if anyone wants to open a pull request on this I be more than happy to test it and make sure it is working correctly.

Thanks, I will take a look.

No Problem enjoy!

Gweedo, Btc-E API v3 seems to be the problem (thanks to Jasmin68K for the hint):

https://btc-e.com/api/3/documentation

But I can only find Russian docs at the moment, which I don't understand... Sad

Yeah I saw this, as well as I am waiting for the english version.
1865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: The most secure wallet? on: August 29, 2013, 08:45:20 AM
Armory and electrum both are good and pretty much safe.

Electrum isn't safe at all since, it is using a central server to get the data from, that can be a cancer node, and give you false information. Not safe, just easy.

1866  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin qt on: August 29, 2013, 06:34:12 AM
The syncing is getting slower cause block 1 has no transactions, and as the blockchain gets bigger, it has more transactions to validate. Also this is hindered by I/O speeds as well as network speeds.

I support Luke Dashjr because I think he and Gavin need to spend more time together. lol

That would be the LULZ of the year right here LMAO
1868  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Open sourcing the bitcoin trading bot on: August 28, 2013, 08:26:36 PM
Any chance you could release a sample arbitrage strategy?

Yeah this bot wasn't made for arbitrage thru many exchanges, it is meant to only run one exchange at a time, I just packaged the api's together since I would run multiple instances of the bot one per exchange. Mostly bitstamp and mtgox
1869  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Open sourcing the bitcoin trading bot on: August 28, 2013, 05:18:45 PM
Did your btc-e implementation work until recently? Mine has stopped working now... Sad

Invalid sign ... guess they modified their api again ... Sad

It does look like it isn't working, I am going to see if I can fix it today or tomorrow.
1870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Needed: Security best practices for creating better Bitcoin services on: August 28, 2013, 08:02:20 AM
I am about to reveal a huge trade secret here. I dumped bitcoind, in favor for bitcoinj and a jetty embedded web server, which only does read only operations to the site (get address, check balance, get confirmations). Then if you need to send bitcoins, write that into the program, using the timer class almost like cron so that is all automatic. Then I use the encrypt the wallet with a 40 character password, which is changed every month.

Basically write your own bitcoin client using libraries, that is the most secure way.
1871  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Codinginmysleep= BFL SHILL 2 the MAX - on: August 28, 2013, 06:58:21 AM
Although he may be a shill, that guy is actually really nice. I met him at the Bitcoin Conference.

Don't persecute him too badly.  Cheesy

It's easy to be overly critical when you're a troll hiding on the forum. What none of them will admit is that they'd do the exact same thing if they were in his advantageous position.

Actually not really. It is called having integrity some of us have it, and some let it go with their soul. As being a person that has been approached from people saying "we will give you this for free, but tell the community it is your favorite" or my favorite "we saw how you want one of X, we can send you one, but can you send us a video of you endorsing it" LMAO

Some people don't have the integrity and that is just plain sad. I actually used to read his blog but then stopped after a couple of post, I just saw it going downhill.
1872  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Open sourcing the bitcoin trading bot on: August 27, 2013, 07:47:21 PM
Thanks for the sources Smiley nice way to get started.

No problem enjoy!

Only surprising thing I see is that people are still reading gweedo's posts, his ignore button is highlighted for a reason.

LMAO this made me laugh so hard, considering I add so much to the community, people enjoy what I say. I get PMs everyday saying how I actually made this community better and my opinions mean a lot. Also if you read my post about the community or about bitcoin I am almost dead on for everything I say. Also I only got an ignore highlighted button cause I said the foundation was going to do nothing and hurt the community. I was right, but no one wants to give me credit for being that smart, but I will give myself the credit. But as go on and say what I want, if your opinion isn't that of bitcoin community majority you all attack it is really great and actually I have gotten so many pms from people actually scared to voice their opinion but have the same opinion as me. They call me a hero as I don't care about the popular contest of the ignore button.

Yes that day I had no sleep, probably not wise to post, as I am working on a startup currently, something you probably don't know a lot about and made a post that didn't express my opinion very well. I actually wrote what I meant to come out, a couple of post later. Now I could delete that post, but I don't do that, cause even my mistakes are part of my opinions and I would never delete one of my opinions.

why blockchain.info is safer?

No web wallet is safe.
1875  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Open sourcing the bitcoin trading bot on: August 27, 2013, 06:41:16 PM
Thanks for the sources!

Why do you retire?

No problem! Because my strategies weren't being profitable anymore and I don't have time to work on new strategies, so I decided to focus on my other project rather than this.
1876  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Open sourcing the bitcoin trading bot on: August 27, 2013, 07:49:12 AM
Thank you very much for posting this. I've been looking for a Trade Bot, figure I can work out the trading algorithm, needed a jump start on the API stuff, etc.

No problem good luck trading!

Again if anyone or you find a bug, or add a new API market, send in a pull request and I will test it and add it to the main client.
1877  Other / Meta / Re: [CENSORSHIP] Matthew N. Wright on: August 27, 2013, 02:46:47 AM
Also Theymos isn't the only one with the ban hammer.

Not true at all! If you look at John K's profile he when from a global mod to Administrator https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=31288 which would mean he can ban people as well! Since Theymos has the same position!

Don't Spread lies mod to cover up for other people/your boss!

I'm confused, you seem angry yet to be agreeing with what Salty said?

yes I can see that I didn't spell out my angle that well. What I was trying to get at, is that Theymos is the end all be all and now John is another end all be all of the banning. I don't that you or salty could make a ban on Matthew or anyone like that without talking to someone higher up. Salty's comment sounded like that all mods act independently and that isn't true.
1878  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are there Other BTC Woman out there besides me ? on: August 27, 2013, 02:39:54 AM
Here are some links to answer your question...

http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-is-more-than-a-guy-thing-women-bitcoiners-insist/

Good luck! I am glad to see more women here, you see great things Marissa Mayer is doing and you wonder when a cool chick like that is going to take the helm of a bitcoin company and really amaze us!
1879  Economy / Services / Re: In need of a website developer. on: August 27, 2013, 12:48:33 AM
Had around 5 PM's but nothing has been worked out feel free to PM me.

Perhaps you could supply some additional details to weed through whatever didn't work out?

Mostly people PMing me then not getting back to me or charging 2,000.

All I basically want is a Bitcoin Price Calculator kind of like Preev.

And then a page with designed small tickers people can add to their own Bitcoin related web page.

PM me I can do it for a good price, just did one for someone else if you want the same thing with some tweaks we can talk about it.

How much did you charge them.
Pmd you
