600GH makes 0.59 BTC per day right now.  By Feb these things will be so worthless.
Wow, are you kidding?

(Seriously, has it dropped that much already?)
1902  Economy / Services / Re: Butter Bot!: New Bitstamp, BTC-E, and MtGox EMA Trading Platform on: November 11, 2013, 07:15:22 AM
@ Pablo

I think I might have found a strange inconsistency.

I was installing B-Bot on a ESXi server, on a virtual desktop to test out a few settings. I set B-Bot to standard settings (2 hours, 0.25 buy/sell 10/21 ema settings) and refreshed the popup.html page and I noticed that the desktop time sync was off by about 3 or 4 hours.

When I went to refresh B-Bots status page I noticed it was reading in sync with the wrong hour.

I corrected the clock on the virtual desktop and only then did B-Bot actually use the current stats up to the current hour.

I know this is a small issue but if someone has their clock off by a significant portion of time they might be trading with very old data. You might want to look into it and see if B-Bot is synchronized by the clock on the users computer rather than the api/feed servers it is getting data from.

As soon as I corrected the time, B-Bot started pulling several extra hours of data that weren't there before.

(By the way, are there any current Beta Tester spots available?)

Yeah I saw that bug too but I didn't see it reappear again for me to send some console logs from the bot.

You should contact Pablo with the logs:

Please email me (Pablo@Butter-Bot.com) the info requested below so we can debug the issue you describe, unless it has been resolved Smiley :

1. Go into the "manage extensions" page.
2. Enable "developer" mode by checking the "developer" box in the upper tool bar.
3. Go to the extension and click on the "generated_background_page.html" link.
4. When the new window opens, choose the "console tab"
5. Copy and paste the info there to pastebin.com as close to the time of your issue as possible and send it to me.

And:

1. In the developer tools open the network tab.
2. If it's empty, press F5 to reload the extension and wait a few minutes until there are some requests listed.
3 Then right-click the list in the left pane and select
"Save as HAR with content".
Please scan the file and remove your API Key from the text and send it to us.
This will help us resolve your issue much more quickly.

Pablo.

@ Pablo

Should both numbers (under the arrows) be expressed as a positive number in B-bot's settings?

0.6 buy threshold?

0.3 sell threshold?
1905  Economy / Services / Re: Butter Bot!: New Bitstamp, BTC-E, and MtGox EMA Trading Platform on: November 11, 2013, 01:56:28 AM
@ Pablo

What about the issue where the emails for the buys weren't generated?

I am looking through the email and it only shows the sell notice but none for the buys it made.

1906  Economy / Services / Re: Butter Bot!: New Bitstamp, BTC-E, and MtGox EMA Trading Platform on: November 11, 2013, 01:35:11 AM
Hey Guys Smiley,
I've been following the conversation, couple of things:

1. For those of you having issues with Mt. Gox, this is a limited bug that triggers under specific circumstances; we will release an update to take care of this plus some other minor work ups tonight.

2: The graph issue is indeed an issue with BitcoinCharts.com: BitcoinCharts doesn't have the best API and it sometimes crashes in moments of high volatility, we will see about how to mitigate this.

This post below worries me a lot:

Does anyone have any great settings that work on 1 minute frequency? (and is willing to share?)

OMG... wrong type of system for 1 minute settings.  Do the tests... you will run out of money fast.  Wink

Seriously never recommend anything under 60 minutes with EMA.
1 minute settings, backtested for 1 month.

Profit:77.47%Max. Profit:77.47%Min. Profit:-0.60%Trades:32

I have backtested it further up to 6 months but the backtesting server seems to be sporadic at the moment.

There was another setting that got up to 127% with trades going back much further. I can't figure out what the settings were exactly as I kept trying new ones.

Pablo.
@ Pablo

There is another late night bug report:

The bot appears to be making buy trades without sending emails. Even when the trigger does not appear to have been crossed. Looks like a serious issue.

(Sending a PM now plus all the detailed logs)

Hey,
We are looking into this right now; I'm not on the tech division but it looks to me like the issue is possibly the negative value on your sell threshold 2. You sell threshold 1 is 0, so that means that any almost any value will trigger is and your sell 2 is -1 so that means that effectively any value above -1 will trigger it. You have to keep in mind that even for sell values your threshold values are expressed as positives.

I'm getting everyone to look into this but I have had no other similar reports so it suggests to me it's something to do with the settings.

Could you please change your both your "2" values to positive numbers? I am trying to replicate the issue with those and it doesn't show up so far.

Pablo.
I changed the value to a positive.

Do the first two thresholds on buy and sell react the same way to a "0" as with a "blank"? (nothing filled in)

Edit: I noticed when I changed the value to a positive number it behaves differently during backtesting.

Careful with the 30-day backtest at this point, as the market has done very little but go up.  This is going to make it a bit deceptive with some settings.  As the market movement normalizes, shorter time frames can eat you alive with fees and short-trades.

I made 137% during the same period using 1hr settings (hopefully the picture posts)...

Try the below settings and see if you guys/gals can refine it as much as you did with the other longer period settings.

With v2.4 the bot should no longer be broken on these settings.

(Note: This uses reverse EMA settings. This is targeting spikes and drops of about $15 to $20 at 1 minute interval rather than long term trends on a larger interval.)
(Note1: Make sure to heed Pablo's warning above when backtesting and refining the settings. See if you can make it better.)

Doh, found a new one, though they look suspiciously too good to be true. I think there is something probably wrong with the back testing server. (unsure)

Profit:119.53%Max. Profit:155.48%Min. Profit:-8.80%Trades:97

Or perhaps I have scrambled the brains of the Bot a bit too much?

When Pablo gets on I'll ask him to test out the settings and see if it is a glitch as they don't make sense to my brain from looking at the numbers.

What is in update 2.3.1?

Bugfix?

Yes, we had two reports of unwanted trades and tracked the issue down, it should be resolved now. Please be aware we had to temporarily remove the new feature that started the bot on "Pause" by default, we will reengineer this and release an update when we have a solution. All other features are in effect.

Please let me know if you need anything at all.

Pablo.
Hmm, the bot is not reading my license. (v2.3)

The version (v2.3.1) downloaded from B-Bots interface, shows a CRX signature error when downloaded. (I didn't do a clean install)

Edit: Re-downloaded from the B-Bot interface and it now works (and reads my license).

Now there are short term benefits as well. EMA is a non-sentimental way to gauge the market. We had a discussion here several days ago, when BTC was reaching 200 and it looked like it would ebb about getting out and trading for Fiat, but the bot kept us all in the market and we are now hitting 400.
You've got me on that one.

I turned on the bot and left the settings on the suggested settings (no reverse ema or anything). Lets hope it handles a crash very well.

I have noticed that the more volatile the market, the shorter your period of updates should be. Currently using 30 minutes. Though a few weeks ago when it barely moved I would have used 2 hours.

Any comments on this point, Pablo?

I appreciate your point of view, and completely agree that you are chasing the trade and will most likely not be filled (big issue with stop-losses). I'm actually agreeing with you right now, there isn't much use for a stop loss during a big and fast crash like that.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, nice chat!

That said, Butter is the most valuable single tool I now have in my arsenal.  Not because of the trade bot (which I have already stated is the best one I have found), but because of the back-testing engine.

In the past, I would spend weeks with a grease-board charts designing and testing systems, trade points and theories.  I would come up with a better trading strategy in my mind and have to spend dozens of hours proving or disproving it's worth using historical data.  Butter's ability to do this in seconds is like finding the Thor's Hammer of trading.)

I am guessing you don't yet know of https://cryptotrader.org?
