DASH TWITTER HASHTAG
Hey All,
I have played around with the hashtag #DASH, and there is far too much noise in that Twitter feed to use it effectively to get our news and info out properly.
As such, I have looked into hashtag usage, and I have concluded that the hashtag #DashDC is perfect due to our name DASH - Digital Cash, and due to the fact it has minimal noise (only 5 tweets since October).
I will be using this hashtag, and I propose that it be made the default.
Cheers,
Tao.

Bump. We've built it. Way better. You can actually see relevant tweets, not buried in crap!

Great study! Very helpful. Did you try #digitalcash straight up? I do use that hashtag as well. It makes a good compliment. But DASH will be our name, so I feel that it is important to have a hashtag with that name. #DASH has crazy noise...

So I am a little behind. I tried to read, but it is early and I ma still a little asleep. Is Dark re-branding itself as Dash? Is the current client updated to this already?
The Darkcoin name will cease to exist March 25th, at 1PM PST. DASH will be the name of the payment platform (not a coin anymore), and a new wallet could potentially be introduced at that time. The current wallet is still Darkcoin.

It's starting to feel like we're turning a corner. The disgruntled have cashed out, the market's heading up, higher volumes in different locales.
Our grand logo reveal and brand change on March 25th will give us a boost, and then it's back to the tech which brought us here. With that distraction gone, we can concentrate on churning out innovation after innovation which has become our trademark (no pun intended).
The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades!

Wow, you're an even bigger douche than Adam. Tok included. But you're on the side of Dash so that makes it acceptable in this thread.
I became inspired by toknormal's storyboard about AdamWhite's investment's story. So I took the liberty to fork that project into a full blown feature film. I hope tok is ok with it, I didn't ask for his permission to use it... In any case, please keep in mind this is a dramatisation and not factual footage (of course), but generally my reasoning is a picture is worth a thousand words... (snipped) Is it just me or are other people struggling to understand what some of these posters are actually saying or attempting to convey? The "ambiguity factor" (if there is such a measurement) seems to have increased dramatically in the past few days. Honestly, half the time I don't know whether some of these new people are having-a-go-at us, complimenting us or making some sort of sarcastic cross reference. The communication skills are just fading to the point where it's mostly incoherent babble. www.darkcointalk.orgIf not, enjoy the wildness of this West...

When we rebrand, can we all agree on one thing...?
We MUST honor the trolls... without them, we wouldn't have gotten half the exposure and attention.
This thread will go on forever, it is their playground too !! Apart from Satoshi's posts obviously, this is one of the most memorable thread in the history of cryptos. Forever pseudo-moderated, forever Darkcoin !!
Can we relaunch on rebrand with a self-moderated thread ?
Are you kidding, there's no stopping this baby, second name change and still going strong. We have DCT for moderated discussion, this is like the Wild West, and that's it's charm! Forever live the X-Coin, Darkcoin, and DASH thread!

Darkcoin, as the fantastic brand, should have been left alone, to grow among the lunatic fringes of societies, it should have been offered to Occupy where anonymity is needed, it should have been a part of Wikileaks, it should have grown among the people that fight for privacy, for our right to property, to our right to be anonymous when we want to be, it should've been a part of Tor, and it should've been a tool to help us fight for our freedom.
I read all this with great interest and I think you encapsulate well the views of most people who are opposed to the name change. All the same, I find myself drawing the opposite conclusions from all the same reasons you cite. For example, I don't think sticking with "Darkcoin" is courageous at all. I just think it's lazy. The word "Darkcoin" may have connotations of liberty, freedom and anonymity for you, but for some of use who've seen a few decades of such struggles it's just another yawn, go nowhere toothless piece of symbolism unless it's practical enough for all to access not just what you call the "lunatic fringe". That's another point where I'd take issue with you. I don't regard myself as the "lunatic fringe". Neither I think would Wikileaks, neither would "Occupy". All these groups probably see themselves as representing the interests of most ordinary citizens globally. These are ambitious, intelligent movements your talking about, not bedroom fanatics. When it comes to monetary matters they'll use whatever best suits their needs at the time, not some kind of flag waving symbol that can't get the job they need done because simply because it's not accepted anywhere that makes a difference. Darkcoin will be nothing if it can't provide a service - especially to those groups who you cite around the world who need and seek financial dignity and anonymity. You may call that "appeasement", I simply call it progress since for me the name "Darkcoin" is even more of a joke than "Dash" if people think it's any more than a blunt spear when it comes to being of real service. The real courage in all this is to have taken on the rebranding process at all. Feel free to come up with a name you feel better about if you don't like the one being proposed, but IMO your argument makes the case for sticking one's head in the sand and pretending there's not a problem when there is. Wikileaks don't give a flying f*ck what the name of the currency they use is. In fact as far as their practical day-to-day financial activities go they probably need risky, "lunatic fringe" facilities like a hole in the head. P.S. That Fed document you cite if about as informative as a 1994 study of travel companies making airline bookings available on the web. I just got back from work, Saturday night casino swing shift. My casino is near Toronto, which is the biggest city in Canada. Lots of young people come down from there to gamble, dance at a club in the casino, and to unwind. Now, I usually make it a point not to talk about Darkcoin, because I usually get blank stares and the occasional "Oh, that's like Bitcoin, right?" Today, emboldened by the name change, I tried to start a conversation about digital currencies, and lead to DASH. Well, let me tell you, this name is going to be a huge success if these kid's reactions were any indication. I found out first hand that with this re-branding we are getting out of Bitcoin's shadow and giving ourselves a chance to define our offering on our own terms. People relate to the DASH - Digital Cash thing and then want to learn more. It was awesome, we so made the right choice here...DASH>Bitcoin. We will compete. Tao

It's sad to see the coin being renamed to a brand that already has patents filed on it... moreover that is also an existing coin that's been here a while.
Those are some of the reasons why I decided to empty my DRK stash and move on. It's kind of a slap in the face for the early DRK people.
Anybody would happen to know the filing number of the challenge application? Would be interesting to see.
We moved forward under the advice of trademark attorneys. Until the legal process is complete it's unlikely much information will be released. Our decisions are aligned with the community as we are simply taking the necessary steps towards making this the most widely accepted anonymous privacy-centric and instant cryptocurrency. Fixed that for you!
