Anyone else's ICO/Address page down? I'm trying to deposit more but I'm getting a runtime error?
Works for me. Maybe browser-issue? I'm on Safari. Yea i suppose it is a browser issue, it's just never happened before and I'm not sure how to fix it. When i put in my key and try to go to my ICO page I get this (Server Error in '/' Application) -Edit- It's actually any link I click from the ico gives me this same error. If you just want to deposit more on an address you already have, you should be safe to send on that address - if you know it. I've also made two or three transactions on the same address. Or: Download another browser. And btw: I also had issues once. Most likely it will work in minutes or hours again. |

I doubt that the Factoid-market is very significant for potential customers of Factom.
There are several reasons for the high volatility, especially that there are still many of ICO-Investors with huge amounts. And of course, the market is highly manipulated and I saw things that were not rational. Plus: We had a nice run since mid of June, that's why there is also a lot of profit-taking.
But today the main reason is the Bitcoin-price - others go down as well.
So you think it's just profit-taking? Could be, though it seems strange at this point, with M2 right around the corner ... Today I believe it's more about the Bitcoin-price. But yes, I believe that there would be profit-taking anyway. And M2 - that is something about we care, those who really follow the project and think about it. But you wouldn't believe how many buy into a project just because of a moving price and high volume and because of talking in the trollbox. If we would have a list of all accounts on Polo who bought FCT, I would make a bet that >70% don't know anything about Factom and never have heard about M2. But to be fair: Even those who know what it is about may have some doubts about "around the corner", because it's obvious that they (team) take their time. I mean, they could release it on monday or next month or even later. That makes sense, OK I'll remove my tinfoil-hat  It really is strange about the level of investor awareness in the projects ppl invest in. I try to invest based on fundamentals, but it's difficult in crypto when prices move so much based on hype. As David Irvine has said, "Price follows value," which is basically my investment philosophy, but certainly there's profit to be made in following social-psychology trends more closely, at least in the short term. I also invest more based on good fundamentals, but in the end value is about psychological dynamics - also longterm is, while this market (crypto in general) is very short-term-focused. And it's a wild mix between experienced people, some are even real professionals, but also a majority with a "las-vegas-approach". ;-) |

OK so I’ll preface this by saying the following is probably a tinfoil-hat theory, but I still wanted to float it out there and see what others thought. … I’ve been thinking about the recent FCT price movements, and especially the major sells that have been driving the price down and scaring potential investors away. It’s been discussed here in the past, with the main theory being that it’s whales trying to drive the price down in order to collect cheap FCT from margin calls and the weak-handed. But as others have pointed out, this theory doesn’t fully account for what’s going on. For one thing, it’s hard to imagine that the amount being dumped could actually be recovered with a significant-enough quantity of newly bought coins. Yesterday someone sold FCT down to 4370—a massive drop in price, that lasted only briefly before bouncing back up. There have been repeated major sells since then, and in each case the price rebounds to a point higher than the whale had been selling at. So … what’s going on? This is where things get tinfoil-ish. ... Interest in FCT has been growing rapidly recently, and each time there’s what looks to be the beginning of a run-up in the price, a whale jumps in and throws water on the fire. If they’re not looking to amass cheaper coins, then … what? As much as I respect the Factom team, I have to ask: Who benefits from a relatively stable price atm? Or put another way, how would Factom’s potential investors and clients feel if they heard that, after some huge rise, FCT corrected by 40-50%? I’m not sure how much potential clients care about FCT’s market cap, but if they witness a boom—followed by an inevitable correction—that would likely give them pause. At this point in development, such instability, even if it resulted in a significantly higher market cap, could be seen as a liability. Again, I’m the first to admit that this all sounds a little conspiracy-theoryish. And anyway it might actually be illegal—exposing Factom Inc to a class-action brought about by ICO holders. But … bottom-line, the recent movements don’t quite add up. That's not unusual. It needs some time to sync. Hope it already shows your Factoids? Finally it showed up right now, but from beggining i didnt even know it must be synced. It Is very compicated GUI:) Anyway thanks for all help. Now lets hope for steady rise:) Yes, the GUI is not too userfriendly but it's okay. I don't use it to store Factoids but it's quick to import priv. keys and to transact. Thank you, so i guess my wallet is not synced yet, that is why i see 0 balance, but i cannot see any progress with syncing, all i can see is .factom folder is bigger than before. Any idea how heavy is that folder after syncing? Now shows 2GB

So ~30 hashes fit into one entry. 30 hashes on the Bitcoin blockchain would cost 15x as much = $0.15 (when I use your numbers). (...) They make profit with that. I did a first little research and this really looks professional! I need to read more, but I already have three more simple questions for the beginning:
1. I downloaded the APP (Iphone) just to check it. It's really good and I recognized that there are already Fiat-currencies. Will it already be possible to buy the ICO with FIAT about that APP or is that for later?
2. And, related to the APP: Because I didn't know that the ICO will be via the APP, and because I just wanted to check it, I wasn't very carefully and typed the 12 words into my computer. I don't believe my machine is corrupted but I would want to be safe on that side. Should I just delete it and download it again to have new private keys?
3. The ICO will be about shares - does that also mean that there will be a dividend at some time?

Thanks for the questions. 1. Yes. LKK is possible to buy with Swift wire or via Payment systems like Visa or MasterCard. 2. Twelve words seed is best to be written or printed on paper and saved in a secure place. This is actually a private key for the Lykke Wallet. 3. Yes, the profits will be shared in a form of dividends, when Lykke becomes profitable (expected in 2018) Okay, thank you for the answers! Regarding my second question: I know that that are private keys, but I didn't know that it will be the Application to buy into the ICO - just wanted to look into the APP (and I really like it). If I decide to buy into the ICO I will install it new to be safe. |

It will depend on how much money will be spent for the ICO until it's end. The more buy into it the last few days the less you'll get and the other way around. |

@matt608. That is just pure speculation with made up funny numbers. It will be hard to take that seriously. But let us see and hope I am wrong.  It is speculation, yes. Because nobody can know what will happen in future. But it's not just about funny numbers out of thin air. Since the price of Factoids will be highly dependent on the demand of Entry Credits it is possible to calculate prices for different demand-scenarios. The question is: Is a billion entries per day unrealistic? No. The Factom-team is known to not hype. They are also known for being very correct. If two members of the team say, with the intention to explain how much data Factom can process, that there are single potential customers who ask if Factom could handle 1 billion entries per day - it's pretty safe to say: They don't lie. And Factom won't be about one or two or five customers. It will be about hundreds and thousands and for a lot of different use cases nobody, not even the team, can foresee. My perspective is: If there won't be a disastrous event, it's just a question of time that Factom will handle billions of entries. It is rational to expect that because all what has to happen is that they move on the way they did since they've started it. How likely is a "disastrous event"? What I like to see is that they act carefully and step by step. They say themselves that they treat the software as financial software, they don't go from 0 to 100 in a moment but decentralize it over time, they test everything until it's as perfect as it can be. The only black-swan-event I can think of is that there is an unknown vulnerability in blockchains in general. But if something like that should happen Bitcoin and the whole market would be done. |

Some links work, some not how it seems. I wouldn't be surprised if M2 comes along with a re-designed homepage. |

Also keep in mind that another capable dev has joined the team, so 2 strong devs working on 1 coin.
Hard to believe that the price will go down. Dev, is there already a date for the roadmap? There's no set date, but we've been figuring realistic timeframes for the tasks we've put ahead of ourselves and how much time between development and testing they might need. We've bitten off quite a bit to chew for ourselves and we're looking forward to it. Another project that I was contracted to develop for that never made it off the ground had quite a bit of features and captured the essence of what I believe crypto and the freedoms associated with it are about. That in itself is quite a timeline and hefty bit of code. It won't be long before some of what we have in store is revealed. Thanks for the reply! Like it!
