My statement was not directed at any of BitInstant's guarantees, nor its terms of service. However, get-bitcoin.com clearly did state a 1-hour guarantee (which was not met). Any damages could be settled, and at any pace, if get-bitcoin.com does not take sufficient measures for compensation, they could be labeled as a scammer.

The liability is limited to nothing based on the TOS for "delays", however, some states do not allow such limitation. If the buyer lives in Alabama, Connecticut, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia, they may sue or settle for damages.
Again, I will emphasize this point. Jurdd, can you confirm if you live in any of these states? However, their website is intentionally misleading. This could warrant treatment as a scammer unless they asterisk the "guaranteed" part.

I want about $100k/year. This works out to about 10,000btc/year. Pirate pays 6.5% per week compounded weekly, so I just need 10000/(1.065)^52 or about 379 bitcoins to retire.
So i guess you just intend to live off your compounding bitcoins without spending any ? That's an interesting task you have set yourself. Fjord means that only 379 BTC a year is needed. On the first day of the year, deposit 379 BTC, on the last day withdraw it all.

Please remember that day-trading is negative-sum; that is, excluding the exchange, on average people lose.
If bitcoins are considered a currency, I'm not sure this is true, as the system isn't a closed one. Some people will daytrade while others will exchange only in one direction (compared to trading dividendless shares, where the only thing you can do after buying a share is sell it back). Everyone may win, and everyone may lose (except the exchanges, which always win). If the one-direction traders are included, it is definitely negative-sum. The speculators can only win if the one-direction traders lose.

Should settle about 10.4 now, if we go through the weekend with more than 10.2 it is a confirmed move – expect 11+ next week.
Weekends tend down, for sure, but don't ignore that Mondays do as well. So do Tuesdays. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FlCZA9.png&t=663&c=D4FD-N9sWa45hg) What's on y axis? It's complicated to explain, which is why I omitted it. Effectively, days are classified as Growth if they have % growth above 1,27%, Decline if they have % growth below -0,46%, and unclassified otherwise. The bar represents the difference between Growth days and Decline days (measured in days). If Sunday has -12, for example, that means 12 more Sundays have been Decline days than Growth days. The scale is 5 per grey line, with orange representing zero.

Why is it that all the phishing/foreign sites always fuck up the punctuation and spaces? It's always like "word , word" or "word, word" when proper use is "word, word"
Because such pages are constructed and controlled by bots. ? I doubt that a bot would be sophisticated enough to automatically construct all of Mt. Gax.

Bitchen,
If you are monitoring this thread still, could you tell us if you have any connection to a Chinese relic collector Chen Jinghai? Thanks.

It therefore cannot be used as a predictive indicator (because it uses historical data), but would be accurate if used for hindcasting.

Nobody can fall from a bed and hurt me (well I don't use "bunk" beds). They can certainly hurt me with a gun though. This was posted early on in the thread: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fupload.wikimedia.org%2Fwikipedia%2Fcommons%2F3%2F3b%2FPreventable_causes_of_death.png&t=663&c=CnLv91XeRJqLNQ) Don't smoke near me Don't drive while intoxicated near me Don't give me an infectious disease Don't drive without a license near me Don't use a firearm irresponsibly near me Don't do drugs near me either, unless there's no chance of my inhaling it or otherwise being exposed And that pretty much covers it. The rest is choices (I won't have a 12th beer, thanks) or force (drink the goddamn beer before I rape you and force-feed you tobacco) I agree with temporary quarantine for people rude enough to do the following in the presence of others: - Contamination of public space. Includes:
- Littering
- Smoking & other drugs
- Public defecation, urination, or preventable vomiting
- Intentional pollution
- Excessive transmission of infectious diseases
- Irresponsible handling of equipment (e.g., untrained, while drunk, etc.). Includes:
Unless one of these rules has been violated, I do not agree with restrictions on bearing arms.

The cumulative chart is pretty useless.
There was an indicator called "Bitcoin Days Destroyed %" which was (and still is) utterly broken, because unless there is a major slowdown it always tended up. The cumulative Bitcoin Days Destroyed chart is slightly better because it does not rely on an upper bound that will eventually approximate the growth of the lower bound. In my opinion, "average coin age" is a much more useful heuristic than all of these; however, it tends to fluctuate less than them as well.
