201  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: October 08, 2023, 05:57:46 PM
I thought the same thing initially, but the modlog should normally be getting read every ~2-3 minutes, it looks like BPIP's modlog stopped updating on October 6th 21:24. Not quite sure why yet, but once it is corrected, it should catch everything back up.

Should be ok now. There was a thread with the same title that was deleted twice. This shouldn't be a problem since there were two different thread IDs. But for some reason the thread ID got truncated - I have to look into why. So both entries ended up like this:

"Prime-exchange.ru - обменный пункт электронных валют in topic #546"

And that's a problem because the parser gets confused and doesn't find where the new (since last parse) entries begin in the modlog.

I've changed it to ignore the thread deletes when it's looking for new entries. It's already ignoring post deletes because those are obviously not unique. Now it will re-parse everything back to the last nuke or ban. Should be more reliable. Probably not 100% - technically it's possible for someone to get banned twice in one week albeit very unlikely. I might need to add something like checking 3 consecutive entries instead of relying on one entry.

[...]

No idea why you needed to post so many unnecessary and borderline incoherent words about this... sig campaign quota I guess.

Check the dictionary. Reputation - as in the name of this board - and/or trustworthiness is typically based on the opinion of others, not something a person declares/proclaims about themselves.

What's with the "look at me I'm such a great person" threads lately...

Reputation used to be a thing that you earn, and let others decide how reputable/trustworthy they think you are. This political campaign style nonsense is seriously cringy.
204  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: October 04, 2023, 12:19:56 AM
if you want to trust eh OSCE...

The report that Branko linked to is not an OSCE report... it was done by a Russian propaganda outfit "The Foundation for the Study of Democracy".

Typical Kremlin trollfuckery, prepare some powerpoint for some meeting at the UN or OSCE or whatever, get it published on the "official" website, have gullible morons like Branko spread it all over the intertubes.

Also, what is gerrymandering? it is the first time I have read that work on internet.

It's a way to draw the boundaries of electoral districts in such a way that it benefits one party. Unfortunately many states leave the district arrangement up to the legislature, i.e. politicians who directly benefit from it, instead of using some sort of impartial non-political method.

The way this can work is by "packing" as many people of certain political leaning (which in the two-party system isn't that difficult, e.g. black people favor Democrats, white rural population favors Republicans, etc) into as few districts as possible, so they elect as few representatives as possible. Another option (can be used in combination with the above) is  to spread such people over multiple districts so that they don't have a majority in either of them and are unable to elect the representatives they want.

Obviously you can't just put any people in any district you want, it has to be done using geographic boundaries (basically lines on a map), but there is enough segregation in many areas so that it can work geographically, e.g. urban black population and white suburbs - very common in the US.

Google gerrymandering examples, it's fascinating.

Thats not the meaning behind my words...the meaning was "GET THE HELL OUT OF UKRAINE AND SOLVE YOUR POVERTY PROBLEMS, LET RUSSIANS
GET INDOOR PLUMBING INSTEAD BEEN FORCED TO GO TO WAR"

That's a new one... Ukrainians forced Russians to not have indoor plumbing? Does that qualify as biological warfare?

(coincidentally ~30 million Russians, the equivalent of the entire population of Texas, have no indoor plumbing).

That's about 10 million less than people who would starve to death in USA if not for food stamps

Whenever you post something I can't help but imagine you as the guy in this poster:

But hey, if you aspire to poop in an outhouse just because 'murricans have food stamps, who am I to argue.

Soviet Union collapsed because they overestimated their strength, and had no mechanism to scale down, so the west just opened as many fronts as they could to smartly overextend the Soviets. Ironically i believe this is exactly what we're seeing now.

Again with this rewrite of history bullshit...

Soviet Union collapsed because it was an utter shitshow of corruption, incompetence, authoritarianism, and alcoholism. Not that different from Putin's Russia. There was no global conspiracy to "overextend" it, or even if there was one it would have no chance against the largest country in the world with the most natural resources if said country was not a dysfunctional mess.

Western countries were smart enough to develop various flavors of free-ish markets instead of five year plans and state-owned everything. Which is what most of Eastern Europe did too over the last 30 years while Russia managed just a slight variation of soviet shitshow with some oligarchs sprinkled on top. It's still the largest and richest country in the world... with economy smaller than Texas (coincidentally ~30 million Russians, the equivalent of the entire population of Texas, have no indoor plumbing).

Sounds like you're a true believer of Kremlin's "new world order"... I got sad news for you though, it will end badly for you and your compatriots. A 1990s-style decade of turmoil seems probable, before you'll get another shot at building a civilized society and proper economy. Doing the same dictatorship thing over and over again is not going to yield a different result now or ever.
209  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The KRAKEN rises, meaning the 2020 election fraud is being corrected. on: September 30, 2023, 12:23:28 PM
What is up with such an important sector of the Republican party being against measures like Automatic registration for elegible voters ?

Generally speaking, better voter turnout usually favors the Democrats. There may be demographic reasons for that - e.g. younger people tend to lean progressive but also don't vote as actively as more conservative older people. The impact varies by state, in some states it doesn't really matter much because of gerrymandering etc, but some red states may be seeing significant population growth or increased migration of younger people, who could tilt the balance towards Democrats if they voted.

Automatic registration is perceived as making it easier to vote for people who otherwise wouldn't, i.e. increasing turnout and therefore benefiting Democrats. I'm not sure it really works that way... if someone is too lazy to vote they probably won't do it anyway or won't even know they've been registered.

But "voting fraud" is a good dog whistle for trumplings so they'll make shit up about illegal immigrants and dead people being automatically registered and fight that straw man.

If you want to split hairs, when battle of Bakhmut ended, and when counteroffensive started?

You're the one making the claim, enlighten us.

Well, your link says Ukraine 143 square MILES, Russia 331

If you have trouble calculating, try this link

https://www.google.com/search?q=square+miles+to+km

From the start of the year. This presumably includes the "capture" of Bakhmut, the last significant Russian advance. Since the start of the Ukrainian counteroffensive in mid-2023 the gains have been mostly one way.

So let's try again:

According to New York Times (famous for its pro-Russia stance) since Ukraine counteroffensive started, Russia took 860 square kilometers, and
Ukraine took 370 square kilometers.

Not true, is it?

213  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Publicly held Trump trials - ongoing on: September 29, 2023, 12:10:23 PM
The evidence seemed to be overwhelming enough for the judge to take the choice and not even required a full trial for it (I did not know that was possible in America, I thought you always needed to be judged in front of a jury if you did not take a plea deal).

There are jury trials and there are bench (judge) trials. Varies by jurisdiction but if both options are available (which is not always, e.g. for some minor misdemeanor crimes, or divorce cases, etc you may not even have the jury option) then usually the defendant can choose. I guess in this case Trump or his lawyers thought it would be easier to deal with a judge and chose a bench trial.

That's a peculiar claim since NYT's most recent article on territorial gains doesn't have such numbers. I don't suppose you have a link?

Some major developments happening in Arizona right now. Everyone is wondering what Hobbs is up to. I’ve heard everything from a medical procedure to trying to distance herself from the fraudulent election win, but something is definitely happening as she has been replaced with a temporary replacement. I guess at least it isn’t a body double Fetterman style.

Something is definitely happening... like maybe the governor is traveling out of state. But we'll never know because qanon news will switch to the next pile of bullshit in about 5 seconds.
216  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: September 27, 2023, 11:17:07 PM
Achieving even kills is crazy devastating for Ukraine, simply because of population difference. After loosing the territory with the people on them, and considering everyone that left, UA population is at less than 30MM, while Russia is at 150MM. Meaning with everything else being equal, UA needs to sustain 5x more drones than RU just to stay equal and have a chance to freeze the conflict at current lines. Put in another way, even if Ukraine somehow manages to achieve 4 kills for every 1 loss they're still doomed to loose. That's why to objective outside observer Ukraine's position is futile and set to fail from the start, and no weapon (outside some weapon of mass destruction) can change that.
Same with USA (335MM) vs China (1.413MM), US would need to sustain over 4x kills just to "level" the playing field.

This gotta be the stupidest math in this thread so far, and that's a high (or is it low?) bar to clear.

After all I am made with flesh and bone who sometimes surrender to his emotion especially knowing many potential clients are having wrong idea about my business reputation which has been built in exchange of a lot of sweat and blood.

This thread will not help your clients to have the "correct" idea, is what I'm saying, so you're working against yourself here.

1. Do you all still think the feedback deserves to be on the page?
2. Do you all really think a controversial user like JollyGood should be in the DT area?

Yet it devolves, as these threads usually do, into name calling and just general bickering between you two. And let's face it, the answers you want to hear are "no" and "no". To get there you need to make a solid case with facts. If you redirected your effort into collecting examples of JG's improper feedback, aforementioned "controversies", etc, maybe you'd have a chance. The two trust ratings against you are about half-factual, half-opinion so it probably won't get JG booted off on that alone.

English must be your 7th language that you write and speak or you are too afraid to face me directly

This and your entire wall of text sounds petty and vindictive and will not get you closer to any sort of resolution here (or answering the rhetorical question in the OP). Not sure why you keep starting these threads and not listening to anything said by impartial outsiders - not talking about myself here; there are respected forum users advising you to lay off the cringy unnecessary drama if you really care about your business reputation. I understand the need to vent sometimes, been there done that, but framing it as an argument against some intentional damage to your reputation does not feel genuine.

Based on this thread alone without any other context, I'd be hard pressed to figure which one of you (JG or yourself) has a worse judgement impairment.

Hi, I'm not on the forum much these days, but thought I'd better check in and see how the ol' Kraken is doing.
Still no sign of it, eh?

Just scroll up a bit, there's a mugshot of kraken being booked on criminal charges, so that probably counts as "rising". See nutjobs were right all along, fraud is being corrected.
