What kind of genocide are we talking about?

The attack on the Ukrainian people with the intent of erasing them as a nation and/or destroying their country. That kind of genocide. It's been 10 months, try to keep up.
422  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: December 29, 2022, 01:44:21 PM
For some reason we all still have a game this week??  Huh

I think the last two spots (Rollers and Chi) don't.

My prediction is that the final top 4 order will be the reverse of regular season standings.

Cows the champions, Barbarians, Jerkers, Coiners.

IIRC that's how I ended last year too, had a good run but unable to win games in the post season.
423  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: December 29, 2022, 01:37:06 PM
I am not sure I am getting it. Are somehow stating that the RF has not bombed (and is still shelling and rocketing) civilian infrastructure? I mean, the satellite pictures show basically cities flattened and there is an obvious attack on power plants -which I cannot better describe than civilian infrastructure.

The Russian propaganda machine is quite gleeful about "bombing Ukraine into stone age", making Ukrainians freeze etc. They seem to have given up on any attempts to appear not totally genocidal. Veleor hasn't been able to reconcile the contradiction between "liberators" and "terrorists" yet, but I'm sure he'll get there eventually.
424  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: December 28, 2022, 06:59:04 PM
That is, you accused the Russian army in a frenzied bombing of civilian infrastructure.
[...]
monotonous destruction of the Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
[...]
The rest of the population is now freezing without light and heat in cold houses.

No cognitive dissonance whatsoever?

- Where do you get information about Severodonetsk?

in an interview with the TV channel "Russia 24" the acting head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik said: [...] in the main part of the [LPR], with the exception of (cities) Lisichansk, Severodonetsk, Rubizhne, Kremennaya - heating has started

- Another question about "many more Donbas residents" - what sources do you refer to? According to the UN website, from February 24, 2022 to December 26, 2022, 6884 people died in total civilians throughout Ukraine. 3569 people died in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government, and 483 people died in the territory controlled by Russia. From April 2014 to December 31, 2021, over 14,000 people died in Donbas, of which 4,400 were Ukrainian Armed Forces, 3,404 were civilians, and 6,500 were members of armed groups.

UN hasn't counted civilian deaths in Mariupol yet, nor in some other locations still under Russian control. Even then, the numbers you posted show more civilian deaths in the 10 months of invasion than in the 8 years prior to it, let alone the numbers from the most recent years. So not sure what you're trying to prove or disprove here.

Here is the quote in case you somehow managed to miss this statement in the article you linked to:

OHCHR believes that the actual figures are considerably higher, as the receipt of information from some locations where intense hostilities have been going on has been delayed and many reports are still pending corroboration. This concerns, for example, Mariupol (Donetsk region), Izium (Kharkiv region), Lysychansk, Popasna, and Sievierodonetsk (Luhansk region), where there are allegations of numerous civilian casualties.

Which media? I see them mentioned a lot, particularly in Russian channels.
You mean new information about TB2 attacks by Ukraine and their destruction?

Nice attempt to move the goal posts. Your statement was "[for] some reason, you don't ask yourself that bayraktars have practically ceased to be talked about in the media". I don't know which media you're referring to, just saying that I do see Bayraktars mentioned in Z-channels. Also there were reports of Ukraine getting a supply of missiles that can be guided by TB2s, which (a) would be quite weird if they didn't have any TB2s and (b) might result in more "media" mentions for you.

Seems that Bayraktars are now mostly on recon duty, what with Ukrainians having better weapons like HIMARS now.
I see you are satisfied that the AFU is now using HIMARS.

I'm stating a fact. See, this might be the reason (or one of the reasons anyway) why you're so adamant that what I post is false or has bad intent or whatever. You seem to be reading what simply isn't there, like feelings. They have HIMARS. It's a fact.

Of course Russians could be lying, that sometimes happens too Smiley
Many American, European, and especially Ukrainian sources have shown themselves quite clearly in the publication of all kinds of fakes.

... and here we go again. Seriously, aren't you tired of this yet?

It'd be suicide though. I'm sure even the most deluded kremlinists can figure that one out, otherwise they'd have nuked Kyiv long time ago.
Are you sure that Russia will not use nuclear weapons?

That's not what I said. I said it'd be suicidal, and that they haven't used it yet, and those  two things might be related.

I can't predict the future but I'm reasonably certain that if someone is deluded enough to use nukes - they don't need much of a reason, so all this posturing about certain red lines (like Crimea) that Ukrainians should not cross makes no sense. Putin can decide to nuke anything for any reason or no reason at all, just like he decided to start the suicidal invasion. No point in trying to guess his mental state. So far he seems to grasp the reality of nuclear blackmail being useful only for the internal consumption on people like yourself. He might wake up tomorrow thinking he's invincible and push the button.

And about the throne: real monarchs do not give it to anyone, even temporarily.

That was back when Putin still pretended to have some respect for the constitution. Did you really not learn anything about your country's history, even just 15 years back?

I don't want to say anything specific about Oryx, but do you really think that in our time it's impossible to forge photo and video evidence?

Nice try. Did they?
425  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: December 27, 2022, 02:41:43 PM
They're stupid, they keep billions in american banks, and those banks can hire hitmen to kill them,
keep money, knowing they're excused because morons will blame it on Putin

The bank doesn't get your money when you die, unless you designate the bank as your beneficiary, which would be quite weird.
426  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: December 27, 2022, 02:22:09 PM
^^^ Are these coincidences? So we see that it is not Russia who is the aggressor.

Cool

I know, it seems weird, but maybe Putin ran out of polonium or novichok.

Well, the fat lady hasn't sang yet, but it looks like she's practicing Hueristic's and South Park's tune.  Good job to the underdogs so far this weekend, even if you lose by some miracle you put up great fight.

Heuristic can't lose, maybe should bench Allen just to make sure he doesn't get 300 negative yards Smiley

I don't think I have any chance either... Even if Ekeler is completely out for some reason, I'd need Herbert to put up 32 points, which he has never done this season. Ok, technically he got 31.76 once and that would be barely enough for me tonight but again, there is no indication that Ekeler wouldn't play.
429  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: December 24, 2022, 06:43:55 PM
I don't. And - as usual with whataboutism deflection - you failed to indicate whether those two things are supposed to be positive or negative.
If you say you don't, then it's true. Let me think though... Nah, this is nonsense. You do it. And your thesis about "whataboutism" is your subjective assessment.

Loading...

I said "[you] post Z-links and other Russian propaganda as facts." You responded by saying that I post Western propaganda as facts. That is whataboutism as defined above (counter-accusation). And even if your counter-accusation were true, it doesn't make any sense as a counter-argument. "someone else does it too" doesn't work as an excuse even for toddlers.

For you, everything that is printed in the American media like CNN or AP about the Ukrainian conflict is true. A little bit of a journalistic "investigation" has appeared against the Russian troops and you are ready to swallow everything that American propaganda offers you. Moreover, you are ready to defend it as the ultimate truth. You don't even question their articles, if they were published in the American media, then it's true. You consume information in such a way and your perception is so tuned.

I don't really consume the media the way you imagine. Most of the information about the war I'm getting from TG, both Russian and Ukrainian channels. When I post links to media sites it's likely because they're more accessible. I doubt I ever claimed they only publish absolute truth and nothing but the truth, but your rebuttals are quite pathetic. Like trying to claim that a couple thousand Ukrainians surrounded in Mariupol for a month managed to bomb themselves while defending against 20 BTGs of Russian forces. Makes no sense. Or that some social media comment is proof of something. Photo/video/witness evidence beats armchair expert opinions IMO.

No, I'd say I have a pretty good understanding. Here is a quick recap if you need help: your genocidal dictator invaded Ukraine.
Judging by what you just wrote, you are generally far from any understanding.

[...]

I kinda expected that "genocidal dictator" will trigger you, but holy crap, this is a lot of work to justify the old deluded wannabe tsar.

But let's assume in some contrived alternate universe Putin's invasion was justifiable. How do you imagine he's going to achieve his objectives? So far he's managed to kill many more Donbas residents than were killed in the prior 8 years, and left a huge trail of destruction everywhere, from ruined Mariupol (or e.g. Severodonetsk - not even basic services/utilities functioning 6 months after occupation) to the capital of one of their new republics Kherson, which they're bombing non-stop killing supposedly new Russian citizens (TBH I don't really follow the annexation logic if there is one).

There was never any proof beyond speculation of Ukrainians having that many, let alone any proof of Russians destroying that many.
You were given a link to a completely official Ukrainian site, where they named the approximate number of bayraktars from 60 to 96. Everything else is guesswork. For some reason, you don't ask yourself that bayraktars have practically ceased to be talked about in the media.

Which media? I see them mentioned a lot, particularly in Russian channels. Seems that Bayraktars are now mostly on recon duty, what with Ukrainians having better weapons like HIMARS now. Of course Russians could be lying, that sometimes happens too Smiley

Shares such information, including on the HIMARS and aircrafts, during the hostilities no one will ever. Therefore, your conversations are at the level of faith. You also cannot refute the words of the Russian general Konashenkov, because you don't have the appropriate level of knowledge for this. What real evidence do you have that Konashenkov is lying, apart from your guesses?

Number of airplanes Ukraine had and number of HIMARS launchers it received - both are well known. I'd dig them up but it seems kinda pointless since you'd find someone on the internet saying that it's not true and that will be your rebuttal.

Do you really think The Sun can start a world war?
Do you feel the difference between "starting a war" and "providing information support to escalate the conflict"?

The most recent war started on false information that I remember was the invasion into Iraq, and it wasn't tabloids, it was bad intelligence. So I'd still say that your claim is absurd. If anything the UK/US yellow media tends to dig up shit that discredits their military, because again - catchy headlines, clicks, and revenue.

It seems to you that the war can simply be ended with the withdrawal of Russian troops.

Yes. And likely that's how it will end in any case, give or take the exact line the withdrawal will happen at.

Kremlin officials would rather destroy the whole of Europe together with Ukraine in a nuclear fire than go for it

It'd be suicide though. I'm sure even the most deluded kremlinists can figure that one out, otherwise they'd have nuked Kyiv long time ago.

If it seems to someone that Medvedev is nothing from a military point of view, then I hasten to remind you that in 2008 (08.08.08), under Medvedev, they dealt with the Georgian army in five days, which attacked the territory of South Ossetia.

Makes one wonder why he isn't in charge of the "special operation" then. Might have something to do with him being a drunk troll, although it's cute how you think that Medvedev was in charge of anything in 2008 when Putin let him sit on the throne for a few years.

Do they (Oryx) also always "tell the truth" like the American press?

Their data is not based on opinion - they provide photo/video evidence, which is a lot more than you get from Konashenkov (or UA General Staff for that matter).
430  Other / Meta / Re: Avatar for another membership? on: December 23, 2022, 11:22:05 PM
Maybe you didn't get what OP is asking, he doesn't want advertising by other members, he wants to be recognized as the sole representative of a brand by wearing a special avatar, while not thinking about getting merit and rank up but to focus more on their business.

Maybe you don't get that this is a discussion forum. Earning enough merits for an avatar is not a huge hurdle for someone presumably smart enough to run a business. A handful of good posts could do it. Or a few dozen average ones. If one is not interested in that, and only wants advertising - I don't see why the forum needs new features to allow that.
431  Other / Meta / Re: Avatar for another membership? on: December 23, 2022, 07:19:04 PM
Ability to post images serves a purpose for a discussion - you know, the activity that this forum is supposed to be about. Avatar or signature - not so much, it's mostly for advertising, and if someone wants to spend money on advertising they can just pay someone else to wear an avatar or a signature. Doesn't require theymos to do anything.

I don't care much either way though. Seeing copper with low merit count is already a red flag, adding a paid avatar to it would only make it easier to see what the user is here for.

You post Z-links and other Russian propaganda as facts.
You publish Western propaganda as facts

I don't. And - as usual with whataboutism deflection - you failed to indicate whether those two things are supposed to be positive or negative. Either case doesn't make sense, but it would be nice if you clarified this point.

without trying to think critically and without understanding the origins of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict at all.

No, I'd say I have a pretty good understanding. Here is a quick recap if you need help: your genocidal dictator invaded Ukraine.

You also post Konashenkov's (who claims to have destroyed more bayraktars, airplanes, and HIMARS launchers than Ukraine ever had) bullshit unironically.
At least, everything is quite consistent with bayraktars. In the summer, Ukrainian sources called the number of delivered Turkish drones from 60 to 96 (~ 10-16 complexes, one complex includes 6 drones). Konashenkov in his reports announced the destruction of about 85 bayraktars.

There was never any proof beyond speculation of Ukrainians having that many, let alone any proof of Russians destroying that many. It's even more ridiculous with airplanes (because none are being delivered from abroad) and HIMARS launchers (numbers of which are quite public) that Konashenkov destroys in numbers large enough that make even the aforementioned Z-voyenkors cringe.

The cause of WW3 could be the cretinism of the Ukrainian authorities, who, with the help of the Polish incident, tried to draw NATO into a full-fledged war with Russia, and the "British tabloids" provided them with information support in this.

Tabloids publish headlines that draw attention. That's how they get the clicks and the revenue. They don't make policy. I know media is fucked up in Russia, but come on, you must have at least some theoretical understanding on how it works? Do you really think The Sun can start a world war?

Only the full involvement of NATO can save the Zelensky regime from complete failure, even though tens of millions of people could be killed because of this.

Damn, you still think Zelensky as a person and/or his "regime" is what's important in this war. Here's the thing. Putin gives an order to retreat - war ends. Or if he croaks - there's a good chance war ends too. Zelensky does that - war most likely doesn't end. Take a minute to think about that.

Further, Johnny refers to some obscure blog, calling it a "neutral source". Why is it neutral? Obviously because user Johnny called it that.

Of course yes, so we have a neutral source for such information.
Oryx blog

Oryx collects photo or video proof and goes to painstaking lengths to verify/deduplicate/identify the equipment. As far as sources go, it's one of the best. It's quite telling that you try to discredit it based on who posted the link.

Bitcoin is a digital currency that has taken the world by storm since its inception in 2009. It's decentralized nature and ability to facilitate secure, fast, and cheap transactions have made it a popular choice for those looking for an alternative to traditional financial systems.

As a Bitcoin enthusiast, I'm excited like a squirrel about the potential for this revolutionary technology to disrupt and transform the way we think about and use money. The fact that it is not controlled by any government or financial institution is what really sets it apart and gives it such tremendous potential. It's not without its risks and controversies, of course, but the potential benefits far outweigh any potential drawbacks in my opinion. I can't wait to see how Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies continue to evolve and change the world in the future.

The series of unfortunate pipeline events continues.

In Chuvashia, an explosion occurred on a gas pipeline that goes to Ukraine.

The explosion occurred on the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod gas pipeline, through which gas is transported from Western Siberia to Europe through Ukraine.

It has been established that it happened during scheduled repair work [...]

It turns out that you consider yourself entitled to publish any links when it suits you, but you criticize other people for the same.

I don't think you really can't see the difference... come on. LTU_btc posted it as an example of a false claim, it's absurd to imply Z-support here.
