It is difficult to object to a well-reasoned accusation, I understand.

I wouldn't know since I have yet to see "a well-reasoned accusation" that would justify a genocide. I have serious doubts that such a thing could possibly exist but I'm sure you guys will try hard to reach new lows.

LOL fucking hell.

Occam's razor would say that the anti-Russian sentiment might have something to do with decades (or even centuries) of Russian imperialism, and brutal suppression of Ukrainian identity and sovereignty, rather than Ukrainians just being nazis for the sake of making can-shaped memes in bad taste.

Your wall of nonsense would be funny if not for Russian politicians on state TV urging to kill millions of Ukrainians based on such utterly absurd conspiracy theories. Does that really not bother you at all, spreading propaganda that's used to justify a genocide?

Let's bump this thread on the glorious occasion of the return of the wordy cunt: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3474542

Was gone for an entire year and decided to create a new account for some reason, but the vacuous pomposity gives it away. Just a little taste below, check their post history for the full experience.

[Blah Blah Blah : whine... -SnIp-]

P.S. - sorry, y'all, that I crashed the market by making Bitcoin angry.

Bitcoin, please forgive me.

Asshole!
Made me buy more cheap Sats![/>]

If my wit were beloved by the type of granola-munching cope-expert who does online “wellness checks”—with twit-style hashtags, no less!—then I would declare my whole life an irredeemable failure.  (Are you vegan, by any chance?  Did you vote for Biden?  Well, it would make as much sense as your theory that the CCP controls “all major media outlets”.)

On the other hand, perhaps I shouldn’t be so hard on you.  You are new at this:  You have only been in Bitcoin since 2020–2021, according to your first post.  Perhaps by now, you may even have even learned to stop camelcasing “BitCoin”—it’s what Mike Hearn used to do, it’s what Craig Wright does now, and it’s offensive to Bitcoin.  Lest thou bring down hellfire and red candlesticks on us all, thou shalt not anger divine Bitcoin by so blaspheming its sacred name!

“Max pain”:  Get used to it, and live up to your name by coping with your newbie-tier DCA before you accuse me of “whining”.  Roll Eyes

OK, now I'm getting scared.
For the first time in many many months price goes below my DCA and the local Llama spots out this???
Is this what they were talking about as "Max Pain?"
I'm gonna cry...

Why?  What pain is in it for you?

If your coins are safely in your wallet where they belong, why do you even care if BTC at rest dips below your DCA during the type of perfect storm of a flock of black swans that we have seen in the past month?  You only started buying BTC quite recently—and you apparently started buying in 2021, a bull year!  Your DCA is inevitably way too high to worry about dipping below it, unless you like gambling about being lucky enough to time a local bottom with a first-time chunk buy.

If you use Bitcoin as money, as well you should, then that may be a potential reason for some pain:  The BTC is in motion, not at rest, and its value right now does affect you.  Solution:  Develop a strategy for budgeting and scheduling your money-flow around Bitcoin volatility.  It is not always feasible.  It is especially infeasible for many types of business, which is one reason why we do need some type of a stablecoin; anyone who contradicts that is a navel-gazing ignoramus with no inkling of business realities.  But with prudence and foresight, it can often be done just fine for personal finances.  (I will not speak further of this now:  I code, and I don’t want to spill the beans on potential future products.)

So as for “pain”.

You should only get scared if you have been through at least one order-of-magnitude BTC increase, and then it crashes below your DCA—oh, that would be scary!

You should only* cry if 1 BTC ≠ 1 BTC.  That would mean either that the laws of mathematics have been repealed—or that the Bitcoin blockchain has been usurped by Do Kwon, who just made 1 LUNA ≠ 1 LUNA by centralized executive fiat.

* Or, you should cry if you play stupid games with margin, and you thus lose BTC that had a DCA so low, it will never again come anywhere within even a zillion light years of that unless Bitcoin is really, truly dead.

I have been crying a lot, lately.  It is inevitable that I must suffer many weeping fits, and probably years of recurring nightmares.  Divine Bitcoin has damned me to this, as condign punishment for my sins.

FYI, in July 2021, I didn’t even know when it dipped below $30k; and if I had been paying attention to the market, I would have been laughing at all the n00bs who were crying.  Then, I was righteous and blessed in the sight of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin, please forgive me.

BADecker would always take the most absurd position on almost every topic
Isn't he just trolling?

Sometimes, likely, may not be his main intent though as he seems to genuinely believe at least some of the stuff he's posting. He gets trolled a lot too when  others lose patience with him.

In any case, as long as it's not disruptive to the discussion, I wouldn't particularly care how the opinion is expressed.
1067  Other / Meta / Re: BADecker can do this ... on: May 30, 2022, 12:55:07 PM
I can't speak for my cycle-mate, but I have reported BADecker's posts with all sorts of violations, including plagiarism. The only thing that is handled properly is multiposting, everything else is ignored.
That means that the staff are checking the reports, they just don't agree with your point of view. They only agree when you report posts to be merged, but not not the off-topic cases. I didn't pay too much attention to what he wrote about Russia's occupation of Ukraine because I couldn't care less what he thinks about it. But it seems the staff don't mind it, for whatever reason. But that plagiarism that o_e_l_e_o found definitely needs to be addressed.

This has been going on for years. BADecker would always take the most absurd position on almost every topic (except he was not a flat earther, go figure), which is not a bad thing in itself. However it doesn't mean he should have free reign derailing every thread. He also tends to create needless new threads when similar topics already exist; it's low level copypasta-but-with-links-so-technically-not-plagiarism garbage and he's basically doing this to bypass the multipost rule.

I think mods' indifference is caused by their lack of engagement, lack of feeling for the flow of discussion and disruptions thereof. That's why I think that a person from outside who is not actually invested in keeping P&S clean and usable (not just for copypasta trolls) would not do well as a moderator there, and that's basically what we're seeing now. That's why FH was a good choice for a moderator regardless of his political views.

I had talks with HF about this very topic and I believe he truly tried to remain impartial as possible.

He did and P&S was a much more adequate board under his supervision. I've had some discussions with him on the subject of moderation as well, and I liked his reasoning even if I disagreed with him.
1068  Other / Meta / Re: BADecker can do this ... on: May 30, 2022, 01:29:13 AM
I totally agree, maybe you know about King Scorpio, same league like BADecker.

Oh yes, of course.

It would be a decentralized way how to solve the issue, don't require action from mods, would discourage bad posting and would be a 100% community driven consensus.

This has a potentially nasty side effect of silencing unpopular opinions. Perhaps some additional limits would be needed. Similar to how you can't send more than 50 merits per month to a single user, a limit of 5 or 10 demerits per user per month should apply.

But I doubt any such changes are forthcoming.
1069  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Russia isn't using it's full force in Ukraine ? tactically .. on: May 29, 2022, 08:12:30 PM
The problem with democracy is that it quickly degenerates into idiocracy. Look at the USA and Western Europe - this is some kind of den of homosexuals and drug addicts. Okay, Biden is an idiot senile, but his advisers and assistants are not much better. Western politicians have been shredded and turned into clowns and political prostitutes who engage in populism and lobbying for the interests of large corporations (which is veiled corruption). Don't tell me this is a good role model because it isn't.

Yeah who needs freedom, it's overrated. Give peasants a five year plan and they'll steal everything that's not bolted down, drink it all away, and the TV will tell them that they live better than the rotten West.

Has Russia managed to manufacture anything more complex than a pair of socks yet (if that)? Seems like you're having trouble with everything from cars to basic food packaging.

Russia has eased safety standards for cars produced on its territory, such as dropping the requirement for airbags, after Western sanctions over the war in Ukraine caused a shortage of electronic components and car parts. In a decree signed on May 12, the Russian government announced a list of reduced requirements to certify some types of new vehicles produced in the country.

It includes the production of cars without Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) sensors, airbags or Emergency Locking Retractors (ELR) for seatbelts. The decree is in effect until February 1, 2023.

Izvestia: milk and juice producers warned of a reduction in the range

Manufacturers of dairy products and juice in Russia warned of the possibility of a reduction in the range due to a lack of aseptic packaging. This was reported by the Izvestia newspaper, citing the largest company in this field.

In other news, China doesn't want Russian-registered Boeing/Airbus planes in its airspace (those are the stolen leased planes). So cheap crap from China will also get increasingly difficult to acquire.

Oh and before you say "railroads" - Siemens pulled train maintenance contracts so it's gonna be back to 1960s there too.

That's what Russia's "full force" looks like.

Biden is not governing the US silly boy.

Give him a break, Russia has had maybe ~10 years of not-entirely-authoritarian regime in its entire history. He doesn't know any better.
1072  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: May 29, 2022, 06:20:05 PM
I still do not understand. Any good winning strategy must be flexible so as not to depend on any particular tactical setback. Putin certainly has a very good, flexible and winning strategy in Ukraine. Even if events do not develop according to the scenario that you yourself have come up with, and does not fit into the time frame that you have set for yourself. I have already said above and I will repeat now - time works for Russia.

There is no winning strategy for Putin. And time works against him - he doesn't have the manufacturing capacity to make new tanks, missiles etc at the rate he's expending them.

Russia can well afford to advance slowly, grinding Ukrainian reinforcements approaching the front with artillery from a safe distance and destroying military equipment supplies from the West. Russia may well allow even to stop the advance completely and spend the winter to look at developments on the economic front - how Europe will react to the shortage of gas and food. A special operation is not a sprint, but a marathon. We're in the second phase of the operation now, and there could be a dozen of them. There is a high probability that the operation will not end in Ukraine and Russia will also have to demilitarize and denazify the Baltic States, Finland and Poland - their rhetoric towards Russia has been very aggressive lately.

Yes, bad things have been said, need to invade them all and make friends kill their children. That'll teach them to not say bad things.

Pyccкий миp in its most delusional form.
1073  Other / Meta / Re: BADecker can do this ... on: May 29, 2022, 02:37:33 PM
Have you reported the posts?

I can't speak for my cycle-mate, but I have reported BADecker's posts with all sorts of violations, including plagiarism. The only thing that is handled properly is multiposting, everything else is ignored.

If 10 or 20 members report these posts as plagiarism in the right way (with the source), then I don’t see how anyone could ignore it. That member cannot be above the rules, even though P&S is one of the boards that is obviously completely out of the focus of the administration.

See above. And I don't think any proper report from any member should be ignored.
1074  Other / Meta / Re: Remove "Report to moderator" from Wall Observer on: May 29, 2022, 02:29:03 PM
Learn to respect other people's opinions; that's how civilized people communicate. I just suggested another way to get the mods' attention quickly, and you called it "abject nonsense." Keep reporting the old way, but don't blame anyone when your cases are ignored.

There is no evidence to suggest that mods take action based on the posts in that thread or any thread. It might be useful if there is a larger amount of evidence, so that making a post and referencing it in a report is more convenient, but it shouldn't be required to do so.

And yes, I will blame the staff if they ignore post reports. It's their job to handle them.
1075  Other / Meta / Re: BADecker can do this ... on: May 29, 2022, 11:59:45 AM
How does a report of yours look like for a post of his that should be deleted? What do you write there? Do the same type of reports you make get handled in other forum boards?

There is not much to report on an off-topic post - I can try to describe why a post is off topic but the mod still needs to look into the thread and understand the context, they aren't just gonna take my word for it, are they? Anyway, I tried everything, from "off topic - not about XYZ, personal attack, link spam, etc" to just "off topic", doesn't seem to make a difference. I know someone is looking at those reports because if I report "multipost" it gets merged quickly. Not sure why "off topic" doesn't get even a Bad.

Share a few of those links here...

I didn't want to get into details because that may derail this thread as well.

Anyway, here is a thread where one user is sharing their experience in a... uhm... significant contemporary event. The topic of the thread is clear, it's not a discussion about the causes of the event etc (and there are plenty of threads about that). Yet BADecker steps in with copypasta and personal attacks and other garbage on page 5, and derails an interesting thread.

Or just browse his post history: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=149737;sa=showPosts

Where's Flying Hellfish when you need him? (seriously, where did he go off to?)

Suchmoon, not being an aficionado of the P&S section, I have to ask: do you visit there to participate in the insanity or just to help keep it clean via reporting?

I participate in a few threads and generally it's fine except for a handful of troublemakers. Some of them seem to be paid shills because they post drive-by spam and never engage in discussions, and then there's BADecker in a league of his own. Unfortunately the usual remedy (ignore) doesn't work because he persistently derails threads to shit.

If it's the latter, I'd suggest taking a mental health break from it for a while.  P&S has always been a cesspool of conspiracy theories and whatnot, probably ever since it was created.  At least that's what I've heard; it's been on my ignored sections list pretty much since I registered.

Does P&S even have an active moderator right now?

None that I know of.

I don't have a problem with content (conspiracies and whatnot), I just can't understand what plausible benefit does BADecker bring for the forum that he must be allowed to spam like this.
1077  Other / Meta / BADecker can do this ... on: May 29, 2022, 02:23:03 AM
I mean this is so fucked up that he must have some sort of special ability.

It's impossible to have any kind of discussion on P&S without him derailing it. He just goes through every thread and posts off topic nonsense. Reported about a million times, nothing ever happens.

1078  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How many confirmations required for btc received to be safe from double spend? on: May 29, 2022, 02:00:11 AM
What the average time it takes for 1 confirmation?  What about 2?  What about 3?  And what about 6?

In a large enough sample the average will be around 10 minutes (technically just under 10 minutes, as hashrate is generally going up and blocks get mined a bit faster until difficulty is adjusted).

does it depend on how much sat they use for sending fee?

The above assumes a fee sufficient for the transaction to be included in the next block.

Would you say about 10 mutes per each confirmation?  could you ever get 6 confirmation in less than 30 minutes

Yes.

or it will take about an hour or so no matter what?

No.

Do you really need to keep asking these questions that you could just google and get an instant response instead of waiting for someone to reply here?
1079  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POV] War in Ukraine on: May 28, 2022, 11:08:38 PM
Don't you think that Icopress entered his comment into the forum to get responses from forum members? He could have posted it on the laundromat bulletin board where he does his laundry. Or he could respond to the opinions of other people posting here, in the thread. If he doesn't want responses, he could have locked it right after he posted it.

If he doesn't read English, perhaps you could translate this post to him.

Do you have no shame at all? Someone shares their first-hand experience of the war. You post garbage in their thread. Are there not enough other threads for you to shitpost in?
1080  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 28, 2022, 03:04:07 PM
My investment is for the long term but I can not help feel down when I see 10000s get knocked off my investment I think this is natural to have self doubt?

Doubt in what? That you made the right decision to buy bitcoins? I'm sure going in you knew that 20% swings in Bitcoin price are very common so that volatility must have been factored in?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to belittle your concern. I'm just saying that checking how much you're down a few months into a long-term investment is counter-productive to the whole "long term" idea.

I used to chart my "wealth" (cash, stocks, house, retirement accounts, and then bitcoins too) in a spreadsheet on the 1st of every month but then I reached a point where even a 1% drop in the "market" seemed to negate my entire month's earnings, so I decided to do that only once a year. It been going only up since then. Magic.
