I've put altcoin announcements and HYIP both on ignore quite some time ago and.. I don't know, this may be the reason in your case too?

I mean not just Bitcointalk, but also e.g. ads on news sites. Maybe I just tune them out subconsciously.
822  Other / Meta / Re: The DT system needs to change. on: August 11, 2022, 12:16:30 AM
Any such forum "system" is about as good as its members make it. theymos wanted wider representation in DT and he's probably unlikely to make it more restrictive, but with or without such change its ultimately up to the members, mainly DT1 members, to make the best use of the system.

Back at the start of this new vote-based DT system I used to think that the level of personal responsibility (for including/excluding DT2 members) exhibited by the old DT1 would improve in the new one but that obviously didn't happen. There is a huge passive majority of DT1 members who don't seem to care whom they include or how the trust system is used. And even if the more active minority tries to mitigate some of the garbage (e.g. by excluding self-scratchers) it doesn't really work that well due to the lottery.

Don't get me wrong, I support the idea of making it more difficult to get into DT (DT2 in particular) but I think it's a band aid for a broken leg.

I still think "protesting" against DefaultTrust by emptying your Trust list is counter-effective.

^This!

@yahoo62278 and @dkbit98, I really hope both of you will reconsider.  I understand your rationale, and often I think being in DT1 is not worth the headache.  But that headache is exactly why we need people like you; rational, thoughtful, restrained individuals to counter balance those who revel in the power.  If more people like you quit DT you'll be leaving the trust system to the abusers.

@suchmoon, we need you back too!

I ain't gone nowhere Smiley

As for "protesting", I'd argue that if someone doesn't have time and/or interest to keep up with the trust system or fundamentally disagrees with how the system is used, then getting blacklisted or otherwise removed from it is better that just leaving their trust lists unmaintained or going against the flow with a huge red trail of drama.
823  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Another one bites the dust: lending platform Hodlnaut on: August 10, 2022, 12:27:57 PM
That's correct, I knew that. And it may make sense if you do this with 10$, or 50$, maybe a bit more.

Does it though? $50 each from a million idiots, and the scammers totally honest unsuccessful cryptobusinesspeople can enjoy retirement. Not giving any money to these ponzi-like structures is the only way they can be defeated but sadly that's not gonna happen.

Anyway, it kinda interesting that I've never heard of these collapsing "platforms" before, so they must have worked out their marketing to not waste money on old scrooges like me and focus on the malleable yoof.

So, you really don't understand that God is in control of this whole thing! He does what He does because of His own goals, and because of the requests of

I really do understand that nutjobs like you are pushing all sorts of nonsense under that guise of "God's will", which is really what you want but have no will of your own to achieve (or it's too absurd to achieve to begin with).

And even if we go along with this bible thumper bullshit, it takes a special kind of moron to believe that Trump is actually the president right now.
825  Economy / Reputation / Re: Reputation: nullius is a cunt ✔ on: August 09, 2022, 06:50:04 PM
Take the high road, and use the Ignore button until he finds himself again...

That's a good advice in most forum situations involving personal dislike, but when you ignore wordy trolls like nullius their posts without opposition suck out even more oxygen from the already barely breathable atmosphere here.

Ideally moderators should take care of attacks like the one on fillippone instead of forcing everyone to scroll through that BS in an otherwise interesting thread, but that's not how this forum works unfortunately.

As for personal issues, internet in general and this forum in particular is a bad place for people with mental problems. Particularly if the user is purposefully looking for conflict.
826  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Concerning Trump & the FBI invasion on: August 09, 2022, 06:26:26 PM
he is the actual President
he is GOD's annoited
GOD Righteous judgment
the Red King

Now that's proper nutjobbery, well done. Thoughts and prayers for your fucked up head if you're being serious.
827  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Trump be indicted ? on: August 09, 2022, 01:05:00 AM
Surely all the 'but her emails' people will be equally outraged about Trumps handling of clasified documents right....right?  .......

It's a Chinese hoax, there were no classified documents, and Trump never was a president.
828  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: August 09, 2022, 12:54:17 AM
I have no problem being a Tesla fanboy.  They make awesome products.  I've found that typically it's the people who have never owned a Tesla product, like suchmoon, that just hate on things because they are miserable people.  It's no wonder these types of people go around spreading negative feedback everywhere.  The misery they seek is within and not coming from Tesla, but they would rather hate on those that are doing things than acknowledge that they are themselves of little to no value.

You sound like you're in a cult.

The Cybertruck is a massive step forward in vehicle production and so of course smart people know it will be badass.  It doesn't take a genius, just someone who understands production and what innovations are being implemented on this vehicle.  As for the retail price issue...  "If you have to ask how much it costs you probably can't afford it," is a quote that comes to mind.

It's a vehicle, not a Picasso. A utility vehicle at that, and not like a collectible rare edition right hand drive Ford Pinto. If it costs beyond what comparable vehicles plus any unique features are worth, it's a shit deal no matter how you twist it. I mean the brick shape might be worth a million bucks to you and you're welcome to waste your money on it, but that's not objective value.
829  Economy / Goods / Re: ~ Buying a TESLA CYBERTRUCK with BITCOIN ~ on: August 07, 2022, 06:20:21 PM
I have a preorder in we will see what happens next year.

It will be watered down even more, and will cost six figures... like everyone except Elon's fanboys been saying for the last three years.

Tesla’s Cybertruck, that object of intense fascination and ridicule that may or may not go into production next year, was supposed to start at the extremely attractive price of $39,900. But that was back in 2019 when the Cybertruck was first announced, and as Tesla CEO Elon Musk put it recently, “a lot has changed” since then.

Speaking at his company’s annual shareholder meeting, Musk said that the Cybertruck’s specs and price “will be different,” citing inflation and other “various issues” that have cropped up in the three years since the electric truck was first unveiled.

What "changed" is that reality started catching up with child's drawings.
830  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: August 06, 2022, 04:32:33 AM
Ah whataboutism, there's no hypocrisy or double standard that it cannot justify. Weren't you taught that whataboutism cannot apply when creating laws? And is actually called discrimination in law. But i must agree it's a convenient tool to prevent population from questioning any and all laws.

When one country invades and the other says "we don't want your books anymore" it's absurd to claim "discrimination". Come on, master of whataboutism, find us some historic analogy. Like Russian imports of German books during WWII.

If your logic leads you to the following conclusion, think it's safe to say that you're on the wrong side of the argument:
Masha and the Bear = brainwashing children, needs to be censored, require exceptions to import
Mein kampf = totally fine for unlimited circulation without age restriction

That's your conclusion, not sure why you're ascribing that to me. I'm sure there are many bad books issued in countries that Ukraine has good relationships with. I never argued otherwise. It's a tangent that doesn't mean anything in the context of restricting book imports from a country they're at war with.

Here you go:

Do we need to give the quarterbacks such a demotion?  I think we had 6 points for passing TD, and 1 point for 10 yards.  I don't think QBs made many more points than a good running back or Deebo.

N/M I forgot about the 1st downs, that adds essential points and 1/25 really only affects long plays, so whatever.  The passing TDs are fine as well, not sure I agree with it but again, I can see why some would think a pass should count for less.  I like all the other setting, too.

IIRC we had the same points for QBs last year, 4 per TD and 0.04 per passing yard. I think we had -2 for interceptions, now it's -1, not sure if that's a good thing or not.
832  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: August 05, 2022, 01:29:42 PM
I'd be hard pressed to come up with a dumber example as justification to put "severe restrictions" on books. Just because you found a book you disagree with? I'm sure there are no books in other languages that contain controversial topics? With such high standards for books, surely "mein kampf" would be "restricted" too right?  huh, of course not, doesn't even need an exception  Roll Eyes

whataboutwhataboutwhataboutwhataboutwhataboutwhataboutwhataboutwhataboutwhatabo ut fucking hell do they not teach you anything else in the Kremlin troll academy LOL

But yeah, if Mein Kampf was being used by Russians to brainwash children in occupied territories, the import restrictions would likely apply to it as well.
833  Economy / Reputation / Re: Reputation: nullius is a cunt ✔ on: August 05, 2022, 04:18:13 AM
Was there a prior disagreement between fillippone and nullius? That's how it usually works with him - someone tries to argue with His Holy Wordiness, and he goes digging for some nonsense he can turn into red trust. Otherwise there wasn't much of a reason for him to necrobump that thread.

As for ethics etc... red-trusting for imaginary thought crimes is some next level shit, beats nullius' regular "defamation" nonsense. Not that it matters much, he should be ~ed anyway.

I am generally against name calling and personal attacks.

I stated my opinion on the fillippone situation and I said that I think nullis is in the wrong. But I don’t think two wrongs make a right, and I don’t think calling anyone a “cunt” is going to result in anything productive.

It's going to result in an obvious fact being stated for the benefit of those who may not be aware of his cuntyness.
834  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: August 04, 2022, 01:43:34 PM
In fact, people in the US are only free to yell at the American leadership in Soviet jokes. A case in point was this June in Los Angeles, when a police officer knocked a protesting woman with a megaphone to the ground and then hit her.

Nice try, but it's quite clear from the video that the protester was tackled for getting too close to the moving vehicles, not for yelling. As evidenced by many other protesters along the street doing just fine.

to bring down any protest moods in society.

Ok then. Suppress any protests in the country - that's freedom in Russia. Tackle someone somewhere in the US for breaching the security perimeter - that's oppression. Am I getting this right?

Do you not consider that since 2014 the Kiev government has been bombing Russian-speaking residents of Ukraine in the Donbas and as a result of these attacks 14,000 people have died?

14 thousand people died in total during the 8 years of conflict, most within the first year. That includes those killed by the terrorist ponzi republic sponsored by the KGB. The conflict was essentially frozen (~20-25 deaths per year) before Putin decided to invade and killed many more Donbas residents in the few months than the alleged "bombing" in 8 years.

I think I'm gonna stick with Putin being the bad guy.

When joining the EU or NATO, referendums are held in countries or everything is decided only by the leadership of these countries? Because Sweden, for example, refused to hold a referendum on NATO membership, although this directly affects the citizens of this country.

You still don't get the whole democracy thing, do you? Unlike in Putin's Russia, "leadership" in democratic countries doesn't exist in its own separate universe. They get elected. Also if a referendum is required by the constitution, it will happen, and many countries have other ways to trigger it (e.g. gather a certain number of signatures). As evidenced by some countries having them with regards to NATO (Slovakia was one IIRC).

Does anyone want to pay me to build a program that takes all the words posted on this page of the thread, generate a brain wallet on each of them, concatenating duplicate words onto themselves as they are encountered, and proceed to demonstrate that even with this creative way of brute forcing address, you won't happen upon anything, zilch, nada? Tongue

Just to demonstrate how large all the avenues are (say, 18 million dictionary words squared)? Roll Eyes /sarcasm

Or perhaps I can just take all permutations of all words on this page from 1 word to the entire set, and fry all data centers' computing capacity for the next 1000 years?

Under nooblius doctrine, the fact that you even think of such a horrible crime makes you a thief. Desist at once and report to your local Ministry of Truth office for mandatory brainwashing.
836  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A direct threat to US: Should Pelosi go Taiwan or not? on: August 03, 2022, 03:39:59 AM
Since when? You can't find a date about it because 180 countries out of 200 recognize it as part of China including US government.

If Taiwan was not independent, we wouldn't have this discussion - China could deny Nancy a visa if they don't like her going there. The fact is (and has been for 70 years) that Taiwan is a separate country, recognition notwithstanding, and that annoys the mainland communists.
837  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A direct threat to US: Should Pelosi go Taiwan or not? on: August 02, 2022, 11:03:47 PM
Nancy should call Vinnie's bluff and just go. There's no way China would take any military action against the US, they're not suicidal.

Do you also support Taiwan as independent despite it having no president?

There are many countries with no president. And yes, Taiwan is an independent country.

He didn't really add a reason why Pelosi should go.

Because she wants to. It's not China's business.

One that most are aware of is that there are already fleet out there like a stand off. And China will look at this as invasion to Taiwan knowing that US has no business over there. But a diplomat and goes there along with the military fleet, this is way beyond playing fire.

Invasion? An 80-year old woman single-handedly invades Taiwan LOL

Funny enough, I speculate she's taking this trip because god forbid if she wasn't coming back, she's already at the end of her life anyways. Had a great run, only to be taken out by a Chinaman.

She's not suicidal either. Everyone knows China won't do squat, at most maybe fly some planes around and talk tough. They're not gonna kill the grandma. But Xi wants to try and see if she would blink. It costs him nothing, and the upside is huge in the small chance that he can successfully bully the US.
838  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: I found a paper wallet on a beach ... seriously on: August 02, 2022, 10:47:34 PM
This sounds horribly unethical. The coins don't belong to the OP. The original owner might have a backup and might try to move the funds once they notice that their paper wallet is missing.
Let's say few weeks and months pass and nothing happens.
Would you simply burn the words, give it to police, or maybe give it to some poor people?
There is always possible scenario of someone finding private keys of satoshi coins, any many other keys for inactive coins could be find by other people, so I don't see any difference with lost coins.
Lost keys = Lost keys.

The point is that we don't know for sure if the original owner lost the keys completely or just one copy thereof. It's not like physical cash, which if unclaimed can be reasonably assumed to be lost after a certain period of time.

For example the original owner may not be aware that one copy of their key is missing, or may think that it was destroyed. Sloppy, yes, but they might still be hodling another copy of the key thinking to cash out when Bitcoin hits $1m. So I don't think there is any time limit as to when this wallet can be assumed to be lost.
839  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: August 02, 2022, 03:33:37 AM
Re divisions: I think 2 divisions would make the schedule fit nicely into the 17 weeks. 8 games within division (twice with each team), 5 games with the other division (once with each team), that's 13. 4 teams into playoffs, two-week playoff round, two-week championship match. Total 17.

Alternatively we can have 8 teams in the playoffs, and three one-week playoff/championship matches, total 16 weeks. But 8 teams out of 10 into playoffs, and then a top team possibly knocked out by one bad game seems a bit too random.
