he has video evidence

You linked to a youtube video of him talking about it. That's not "video evidence".

Radio show of a known putinist repeats Putin's talking points. I wonder how that happened.

See? Do you need more proof? Same going on in Ukraine

Exactly, some dimwits there are also proud of "Marshal Stalin" and kill people who think otherwise.

That doesn't make it right though.

Bitcoin?  Dips under 30k for a while...

Unfortunately Bitcoin carries all those shit stains on it. Luna, Bitconnect, Bitcoin Savings and Trust, and countless other scams come and go, but in the eyes of the public there is one common denominator - Bitcoin. Even if the scam, like most DeFi/NFT shit, has fuck all to do with Bitcoin.

So in the short term, yes, 30k. In the long term Joe Shmoe will be wary of Bitcoin (ironically still lose money in some "crypto" scam probably anyway, because it's "better than Bitcoin") and governments will be attempting to regulate it for our own safety and my retirement will keep getting pushed away.

Does the cryptocurrency market close?

It's closed. Go home.

If those crimes are to be punished, the Attorney General of the United States must bring the charges.  What are the odds that Merrick Garland is actually gong to investigate this matter?

It doesn't have to be the AG. The actual aggrieved party (e.g. some schmuck whose vote was allegedly not counted correctly) can bring it up and it will work its way through the system just fine. The fact that we have movies but not court cases might indicative of something here.

You must be confusing me with someone who's going to defend Swamp Rat Republicans, sorry you've got the wrong guy.

LOL, fair enough. But the choice unfortunately is between those two. So if "Swamp Rat Republicans" don't get their shit together, Democrats are going to win again, and I have a feeling that you'll like that even less than the aforementioned rats.

Ukraine will almost certainly get Western precision-guided rounds as part of the package. The American-developed M982 and M982A1 Excalibur artillery shells can home in on a set of GPS coordinates, and unlike artillery of the past, can hit a target with the first round. Excalibur is so precise, the U.S. Army claims, it will hit within two meters of the target “regardless of range.”

However, it is a completely different thing how the tanks react to a hit. At first, they are unlikely to know if it is artillery, a drone, an MANPAD or a Stugna-P or even a land mine. However, no matter what it is, the only thing that is clearly wrong is to sit in there. Tactical Cannon Fodder sent there by a soulless leadership.

These are very expensive. Not sure what the advantage is over e.g. Switchblade (speed?) but I thought it would be rare to see Excaliburs in action, maybe against juicy target like radars.

Nor should they be, but the validity of our elections shouldn't be decided by biased, corporate media either.  Our ability to question the validity of elections shouldn't be squashed by big-tech or the media.

I trust the court system in this situation much more than media etc. Do you? A valid case - which there wasn't - would have made it all the way to the SC and none of the media/big-tech nonsense would matter.

The hardest part about this is that we now have solid evidence that the United States is currently a bananas republic.  All the horrible things the Democrats and media told us about Trump were the things of which they were actually guilty:

The way I see it, all the things Republicans said about Democrats after 2016 (attempting to relitigate the election etc) now they're doing themselves, and then some. They (Republicans) have a fantastic gift for the next election - inflation - but they seem to be determined to piss it away by whining about unproven 2020 conspiracies and Trump's pathetic coup attempt and all that nonsense. Focus on the economy, win the next election by a landslide, how hard can it be? They can't "unlose" 2020, that's not how it works.
1168  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 2000 Mules on: May 10, 2022, 08:41:09 PM
You could have a judge rule that Biden lost the election and democrats would still claim it wasn’t true.

Except "a judge" didn't rule so. If there was such a ruling, like e.g. in 2000 - Trump would be president and it wouldn't matter what "democrats" or "media" are saying.

Luckily elections aren't decided by movies.

Ooops... I took me a while to realise. Snake Island will be used as the bait for the Russian navy in the B.S. There is no intention to "re -capture" in the short term, just to make it look like it could actually be captured and destroy anything getting near by. Quite strategic giving it's proximity to Romania and other countries in the Balcans. Short of a Cuba.

Income potential for the Ukrainian postal service too.

The island is quite small though. I wonder what happens when it's all covered in imaginary downed Bayraktars. I hope it warps through a wormhole into the Red Square.
1170  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: May 10, 2022, 11:00:22 AM
It seems that Ukraine has already lost several missile boats, planes, helicopters and bayraktars there, Russia also has losses, at least one helicopter.

Except there is video evidence of Russia losing multiple boats, SAMs, and a helicopter, but there's no evidence of Ukrainian losses and it wouldn't make sense for them to even attempt sending troops or equipment there when they can safely attack Russians remotely.

More Russian MoD fantasies. Destroying Ukrainian Bayraktars for the the third time, and airplanes for the second time. I think tanks and boats are into the second round as well.

Edit - Meanwhile the glorious Russian military is inventing new ways to use rotten capitalist technologies because glorious Russian technologies are too advanced I guess:

Wrecked Russian fighter jets are being found with rudimentary GPS receivers "taped to the dashboards" in Ukraine because their inbuilt navigation systems are so bad, the UK defense minister said.
[...]
"The result is that whilst Russia have large amounts of artillery and armor that they like parading, they are unable to leverage them for combined arms maneuver and just resort to mass indiscriminate barrages."

Huh?

You're into legs/arms? Nothing wrong with that.
1172  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: May 09, 2022, 10:18:14 PM
A month into the invasion, Russia pulled back from Kyiv and declared its main goal was the "liberation of Donbas" - broadly referring to Ukraine's eastern regions of Luhansk and Donetsk. More than a third of this area was already seized by Russian proxy forces in a war that began in 2014, now Russia wanted to conquer all of it. What do you think about this???

Fuck off with your copy pasta is what I think.
1173  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 09, 2022, 09:49:12 PM
Damn it Buddy… We don’t need page parity.

To be fair, it's our own fault for setting the parity floor so low, as if we can't even shitpost properly.
1174  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 09, 2022, 07:24:06 PM
Happy MSTR cost basis day! Is Micky S going to (a) average down, or (b) cut his losses?

In other news, who could have possibly known that fake money and shitcoining could lead to trouble:

TerraUSD (UST) has lost its dollar peg for the second time in three days, falling to as low as $0.95 on Monday, according to the most recent price estimates from CoinMarketCap.

[...]

The algorithmic stablecoin works together with its sister token, LUNA, to maintain a price of $1 using a set of on-chain mint and burn mechanics. In theory, these mechanics ensure traders can always swap $1 worth of UST for $1 worth of Luna, which has a floating price.

[...]

A few minutes later, Do Kwon, the outspoken CEO of Terra creators, Terraform Labs, tweeted, "Deploying more capital - steady lads."

In Moscow, the air part of the Victory Parade was canceled. This was announced on Monday, May 9, by the press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov, TASS reports.

According to him, aviation does not participate in the parade in Moscow due to bad weather.

"Fontanka" reported that St. Petersburg also canceled the air part of the parade. The reason was also the weather conditions at the take-off airfields, the publication specified.

Same in many other cities.

Weather in Moscow was cloudy but otherwise ok, not sure about St. Pete. I'm guessing the excuse is bullshit as usual.
1176  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: May 08, 2022, 04:42:27 PM
Have you wondered why the investigation in the theater is not carried out by independent UN experts, but by the US news agency?

There is nothing to wonder. Mariupol is under Russian occupation and they're picking the rubble apart themselves instead of allowing international investigation like e.g. Ukraine did in Bucha.
1177  Other / Meta / Re: Neutral feedback of negative spirit on: May 08, 2022, 03:11:45 AM
Definitely passive aggression in your *neutral* posts...

People in glass houses and all that...

Abject nonsense. There is nothing wrong with those ratings, good use of the trust system and good choice to make them neutral.
1178  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: May 07, 2022, 04:07:35 PM
That's pretty hard to believe, when you consider all the practice and machinery that it took in WW2 to get a plane to hit its target with a bomb. Probably it was a "dead" vehicle, and the ground around it is pictures of all the misses before they finally hit it.

This is not WW2 and not a "plane". There is plenty of "practice" and "machinery" though. Don't be lazy, look it up. You can even build your own quadcopter and try it out.
1179  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: May 07, 2022, 03:05:03 PM
Finally the glorious Russian Ministry of Bullshit has destroyed the last Ukrainian airplane:

MoD: Russian air defense systems shot down a Ukrainian Su-27 in the Platonovka area.
[...]
In total, 152 aircraft have been destroyed since the beginning of the special military operation [...]

Further in the same article, the number of destroyed and remaining Ukrainian military equipment is given:
Quote
"The Russian military destroyed [...] 112 out of 152 aircraft, 75 helicopters out of 149,
148 air defense systems S-300 and Buk M1 out of 180 [...]"

New video, seems another boat got hit, and it was trying to deliver a new SAM to the island... hit-one-get-one-free kind of deal for the non-existent Bayraktar.
