201  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoin Magazine Issue #2 and Issue #3 now for sale! on: August 20, 2012, 10:27:32 PM
PDF-only format will likely never be sold because of the potential for counterfeiting. When the digital-only edition is for sale, it will be on several platforms including ITunes and Kindle Fire. Currently, only the physical copies of the magazine are for sale. For now, all I can recommend is to regularly check these stores for availability or order your physical copy today.

Did not see this elsewhere but can we order pdf only (not print) yet or other digital format?
202  Economy / Speculation / Re: The next bitcoin bubble will be massive on: August 16, 2012, 05:39:25 AM
its more of a shart than a bubble. i have 30k bitcoins. i can crash the market whenever i wish.  but i know i wont get $13 for each 30,000 of my coins.

I think you now have to sell those 30k bitcoins or all of us are going to have to call you a liar. If you have them, you can get damn near $13 each in one solid sell. It will also confirm you are not lying.

Come on.... What are you waiting for? Grin
203  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who or what is behind the recent price increase? on: August 16, 2012, 03:48:30 AM
I personally believe it is due to wider adoption but here is another theory you did not present:

A criminal organization has taken note of Bitcoins potential to be used for money laundering and transferring funds within their organization without the prying eyes of banks. In order to effectively do this, Bitcoin must be worth much more than $5-6, so they are injecting fiat into Bitcoin to make it more suitable for that purpose. In order to prevent anyone from taking too much advantage of this and causing a bubble, the capital injection is happening over a long period of time.

204  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 Gh/s] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop,instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: August 10, 2012, 01:23:59 AM

Anyone else getting certificate errors on Deepbit now?  If I reload the pool's page, I'm getting that.  A good chunk of the regular hasing seems to still be down atm.

My main system is still up but all my remote ones were having network issues.  Then again I think the router over there died so not the pool's fault there.

I am getting this too. I wont be logging in until this cert issue is cleaned up in case it is a phishing attack

I is apparently "well documented in various places (it's all in a frozen mtgox account)"

Code:
01[15:23] <Transist-> Phantom, unrelated to intersango, Some of creditors, myself included, would like to know what kind of security is protecting the remaining assets ?  You may understand we are worried given Genjix track record on security.
01[15:23] <Transist-> Thank you
[15:24] <@phantomcircuit> Transist-, that is well documented in various places (it's all in a frozen mtgox account), also im tired of telling you that this is an inappropriate method of communications

Disgusting! And he wants some respect somehow! What a horrible human being.

It will certainly be interesting to see how he responds to the Bitcoinica LP liquidator's requests for information.

He certainly seems to have no problem leaking someone else's password at Intersango. It should be interesting to see how he responds to legal requests indeed.

Heh, I'm not sure what the problem is either.

Problem? I'm not quite sure I would call this a problem.

* The Liberty Reserve account used by the hacker is U9236056.
* The email address used by the hacker was stevejobs807@gmail.com.
* To my surprise, upon further examination of our order system, I found an order from Zhou Tong to sell Liberty Reserve to us for the amount of USD 40,000, requesting a wire to his bank account in Singapore. The amount for the order closely matches the total USD exchanged through us (after fees) using the MtGox USD codes stolen from the Bitcoinica account.
* This order was placed the next day the hacking attempts occurred. In addition, it should be noted that Zhou Tong has never dealt with us before as an exchange customer.

The matter of the fact is, we have never released any personal, sensitive, and/or confidential information regarding Zhou Tong that has not been previously and compulsory disclosed by himself to the public. By making this information public, and by begin the question of why his funds were being withheld on a public forum, we are well within our rights, both from a legal and ethical stand point, to make an statement regarding the situation. I will invite anyone to challenge this under the laws of the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Cordially,
Roberto

Actually, Zhou, thank you very much for posting this quote:

You gave us implicit consent to make a statement regarding this situation the moment you chose to make the information regarding your dealings with our company public.

Anybody that feels differently is more than welcome to lodge a complaint with the relevant authorities of court of law. My interest mainly is the rational behind the Bitcoin Magazine article.

Thank you.

First of all, thank you for providing a well reasoned and researched defense. It did appear as if you were violated some TOS because we were not aware of the earlier posts. When you were repeatedly asked about it on the forum, you ignored the question. It appeared to be a clear violation and you must have been asked about a dozen times with no response. It is our shortcoming for not contacting you directly for a comment before publishing the article.

While I had nothing to do with writing the article, I can defend that content at the time it was written.

So Intersango do not owe any funds for sponsorship at all? Regardless, you should refund their sponsorship money and remove them from the view/organisation of the conference. This is not a personal vendetta, just pragmatic action so that, whatever the legal outcome, the conference is not brought into disrepute as it has been so far and will continue to be otherwise.

BB.
+1 how much funding would you need to replace them?

I think we would be willing to raise funds to refund Intersango just so they won't be affiliated with the conference. Of course we would have to know how much to raise.

I hate to break it to you but I work for Bitcoin Magazine. The magazine is in no way supported, bought or even affiliated with Zhou Tong. I'm sure

Are you denying that Zhou made a substantial contribution to your magazine?

Quote
You can say "It's been quoted" again a few times, that doesnt make it true somehow.
I read the whole frickin' story and never saw mlawrence threatening to injure/kill anyone anywhere.

Thank you - I wonder how Maged managed to see something that exists only in Rarity's delusions?

And what contribution exactly did he make to the MAGAZINE? He donated money in 2011 to BitTalk TV which was used in part for the Christmas special. The magazine had yet to have been announced at this point and the money was long gone before any work was started on it. ZERO funds from Zhou have gone into the magazine and he has ZERO stake in the company. That is a fact.

The problem I see is that the forum, the bitcoin magazine, and every other bitcoin outlet out there has been bought and paid for by Zhou Tong. He was smart that way. Whatever information you are able to produce, will be dismissed by the forum.

You can clearly see that people like Rarity, Matthew and Maged have received, and/or continue to receive, stolen funds to quell any uprising.

It's unfortunate that this theft has split the community the way it has.  Sad

I hate to break it to you but I work for Bitcoin Magazine. The magazine is in no way supported, bought or even affiliated with Zhou Tong. I'm sure if you will follow my posts you can see that I have been in favor of getting to the bottom of this without prejudice. I find the notion that you or someone else would consider us as bought by Zhou, insulting on many levels. You are insinuating that we do not have journalistic integrity, which if you read the article on our website about this incident you will see just how wrong you are.

Matthew is Matthew and his statements are in no way to be considered as representing the magazine unless he explicitly says so.
213  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bitcoinica Consultancy abandons customers. Bitcoinica to enter Liquidation on: August 01, 2012, 09:24:29 PM
This thread is confirmation that Patrick, Donald and Amir all need to be branded as scammers. Their behavior through all of this shows that they should not be trusted with anyone's money or information from this point forward. I also think civil proceedings should begin against them with any legal investigations into their criminal responsibility taking place concurrently. They have abandoned their company with a big middle finger to all their creditors and I think it's time to take some action against them.

If ZouhTong is not a real person...WHO did Matthew from Bitcoin Magazine interview in that Video for Bitcoinica ?

http://bitcoinmagazine.net/10-questions-with-zhou-tong/

WTF ?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=43861.0

http://bittalk.tv/?p=105

Some other Asian guy with a more mature voice than a 16(+)-year-old. A PLANT! Listen to "Zhou Tong" again in that video.

~Bruno~

Zhoutong -

To end this speculation just skype right now with one of the forum respected members.  I just listened to that interview you had.  If this is really you, I do not doubt that your english is that proficient, and I would imagine you are proficient at many other things.

To me, some of the interview seems "scripted."  Just my opinion.  Not that it matters, it could still be your voice.  And I do believe that could be your voice, the voice of a 17 year old.  But, since there is all the sudden this idea floating around, why not put it to rest?

Isn't it my best interest to be a fake person right now?

I'm trying to do good and help people, but people don't give any merit to that.

To end the speculation now, Zhou Tong is fake and the guy behind it wants to help Bitcoinica customers to get their money back. Bitcoinica is just an illusional product that has never been built.

I believe some people will be very satisfied now.

Now that I have tracked down the official registration information for AurumXchange are you willing to provide them to proper documentation to get this cleared up? Your aggressive stance with them does not help your case at this point.

@Roberto: Please post your legitimate business registration/contact information in this thread for informational purposes so that Zhou's attorney can have it to address you officially and so that the community can also benefit from the knowledge that you are a rock in the community with a legitimate business interest and not just a personal vendetta.

While I don't necessarily agree with the wording, I think AurumXchange needs to publicly state their business registration information. You have referenced Dominican law but have not provided an address, Dominican or otherwise.

For prospective customers, please state your business address and registration information on this forum and on your website. With this information, you will inspire the confidence of more people who are just hearing of your business the first time. I ask you not to release your contact information for Zhou, but for prospective customers everywhere.

You guys may call it stalking, but the kid stole half a million dollars.  I'm bringing him to justice, and no court in the world will call that stalking.  If Zhou's payroll perma-bans me, then that's life.
Yes, and I think your stupid actions will actually prevent us from getting anything back. Your crusade will cost us all a lot of money. Hopefully someone with deep pockets (Roger?) will find out, how to sue you for this.

You're not getting your money back from him this way anyway.  At least this way we can bring him to Justice and seize his assets.
He already returned 15kBTC. I think your crusade already affects your thinking.

And we'll get the other 25kBTC back.  It's very probable a police investigation will tie him to the first hacks as well, so we will get MORE money back.  It's a win win.

If all that were true, what makes you think that it would entitle Bitcoinca users to EXTRA. If anything, funds recovered in excess of the liabilities at Bitcoinica would go to pay back the funds injected to cover the first 2 hacks.
218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Statement about the suspect of recent Bitcoinica hack on: August 01, 2012, 02:54:26 AM
He's not just stalking him, he is also referencing acts of violence.

You better get used to invasion Zhou, cause it's going to get a lot worse.

Where I come from we don't let people steal half a million dollars and get away with it.

That's all I'm going to say about that anymore, since I'm not going to incriminate myself further.

This is not okay.

Stealing $500,000 is not okay.

People have been killed for a lot less - stop living in your imaginary pink unicorn world.

It still doesn't make it okay to threaten violence. This very well could lead to the first Bitcoin related murder but I hope that day never happens. If he is guilty, the law will prove it and punish him. It will take time, but that's something you have to be willing to accept. Get your head on straight.

How about we all stop attacking each other and keep this thread on topic.

[Edit]

People already have enough pages to read through to get the whole story on this. Your fighting and off topic arguing is more crap that people who actually want to follow this thread have to go through.
220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Statement about the suspect of recent Bitcoinica hack on: August 01, 2012, 02:29:51 AM
Hi Zhou,

I think there was one question that you didn't answer from one of my earlier emails. You said you could recover 20k BTC and to date have recovered 15k BTC. Are you still able to recover the other 5k BTC?

Yes. I'm recovering the first 15k BTC to show "good faith" and "co-operation". The remaining will be recovered after all the fiat has been recovered. The fiat money is the most legally sensitive part of this deal, and it should have taken place before Bitcoin.

Hey asshole - send the remaining 25k BTC NOW.  We all know the fiat money is locked up until you identify yourself, and it's clear you are not going to do that.

STOP PLAYING YOUR CHILDISH GAMES.

I'm also trying to figure out if this mounts to extortion. So far, many of the statements from Zhou have been of extortion nature. Promising to have the funds released if no legal action is taken is a prime example. Its time to just send the funds Zhou. Too many people have suffered too long because of this fiasco.

Send to who? Send to satoshi? Send to Red Cross?

I'm trying to resolve this problem for Bitcoinica customers, not just for myself.

I'm waiting, not delaying.

Send it Patrick Muirk as you sent the first 15k BTC. You could ague that you are waiting for bank account information for the fiat (which may or may not be true) but you can't argue that for the 5k BTC. We already know there is an address you can send that to.
