201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pension funds bringing money to Bitcoin. on: February 14, 2019, 08:27:45 PM
It is really interesting that at last some pension funds have wet their feet in cryptocurrency investing. Someone is going to be very happy or very pissed off in the future. What do you think of this? It is really a breakthrough for crypto as an investment?
Source: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-02-12/first-u-s-pension-funds-take-the-plunge-on-crypto-investing
This is great news and I believe that in future we are going to have more of the kind of fund flowing into the cryptocurrencies market.  Bitcoin is going to replace many financial system because blockchain technology makes things more easily than any other financial system.
In the future, but not in the near future... and we'll have more funds flowing into cryptos but just a little from the pension funds... Those are really strict on the investments, their portfolio only allowes 0,00x% or even less of their money to be invested in high risk assets/things like crypto. So this won't cause high demand for crypto, also those funds will search for crypto connected companies to invest in their shares...
202  Economy / Economics / Re: JP Morgan’s new digital ‘coin’ is not a cryptocurrency, or even a stablecoin on: February 14, 2019, 08:01:41 PM

This is called marketing and branding Smiley That's all...

Why this is important for the banks? This system (centralized, blockchain backed system) can handle a huge amount of money in a really little time (which the current SWIFT system is incapable, it's slow), so where time is money, there you can make difference with a kind of system like this. It will cost less money for them to move huge amount of money compared to the SWIFT system, so if they will just don't touch the pricing of the international wire transfers, just speed them up significantly, it will make them a hell lot of money...
203  Other / Meta / Re: [CLUB] The SpamBuster! Over 7000+ accounts reviewed : [23.11] on: February 14, 2019, 07:50:26 PM
Holy cow, tell me it's just an error on Vod's part? It can't be true, I mean nearly 3000 posts have been removed. lol

Will check his posts later today. Hope I can find some plagiarized/spinned posts and put him out of his misery.

These 8 merits sent back in September seem very suspicious...
Or, it's a sold account and the buyer uses a totally different language and this is why the deletion of the posts were needed... but 3000 posts are really a lot... I'll also have a look for plagiarism
204  Other / Meta / Re: Weird newbie account with 2 merit wearing avatar? on: February 14, 2019, 07:47:10 PM
I think it's because of the new fee changes in copper member which enables newbie to add avatar. My assumption only.

Just checked, I've 2 merit and I'm wearing the copper membership and I can't add avatar
Try to report a lot, to have more than 500 good reports, so we can be sure if this makes any difference in connection with this problem Smiley
It won't be in vain anyway, sooner or later you'll have your reporting badge, if it get's implemented sometime Smiley
205  Other / Meta / Re: Black screen when loading forum pages in chrome. on: February 12, 2019, 07:45:56 PM
I've got something different, but still interesting, when I use Opera.
The forum is OK, unless I start to create a post. When I start to post, the background of the input field (text box) becomes blue, different shades, and if I wait for a bit, it becomes grey, several shades also, but different line by line...
It's not so disturbing, unless the text box starts to flicker, which happens when the cursor blinks.... interesting Smiley
206  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Ok, here's a 1BTC puzzle. on: February 09, 2019, 10:58:14 PM
Been bust last few days, I see its still not solved.

Anyone have any more idea?
If you have a promising idea, would you post it here before trying it out first?
Just think about the possible solutions, as others, try them and you can still post those methods you have already tried without luck.
And of course, keep an eye on the address if it still has the balance Smiley
207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The price of Bitcoin is going down because the price is going down, on: February 08, 2019, 03:46:15 PM
...
Bitcoin IS a currency of the internet.
For me it was like that since, idk 2 years(?). All I want to buy is already available to get with my coin so...
...
Is there any special reason that you spend your coins these days, when there's a possible entry point on the market? I'm just asking this, because everywhere I see to hodl, buy and wait for the price increase?
Just curious Smiley
208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if designer handbags were 80% off? Your gf would... on: February 08, 2019, 03:34:24 PM
What investors can do with bitcoin and gf can't with bags:
Just buy little portions of it, and this way, they can still accumulate a meaningful amount over the time, but you can't buy just parts of a bag, to put it together at home later...
So in case of a bag, you can decide to buy or not to buy, in case of investment, you can decide to buy in small fractions and also you can sell them if needed
209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Progressing adoption on: February 07, 2019, 10:34:52 PM
A different perspective:
Merchants, who can afford to accept bitcoin and let it sit in their cold wallet now (that means they have to provide liquidity from elsewhere) so if merchants can afford not to just accept bitcoin and exchange it on the fly with payment processors, they would gain a lot in the case when the price of bitcoin will start to go up again. But until then, if they want to keep their accepted bitcoins, they have to put in some cash in order to let their business run... So basically they could just buy bitcoin directly if they want to accumulate some, there's no need to accept it, it's much more hassle and no gain on the short run.
They can choose to accept bitcoin and only exchange a part of it, to cover their costs, so in this case their net earnings will remain in bitcoin, so they can multiply their earnings on the long run, if they choose this. But in this case, the owners of the business have to wait some time if they want to get some cash out from their company as a dividend...
210  Local / Other languages/locations / Re: Magyar (Hungarian) on: February 07, 2019, 10:17:36 PM
211  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos why should we use external script for find important data like ban/merit on: February 07, 2019, 04:47:40 PM
In every thread, it is generally considered to be a good idea, but theymos has not commented, so we can only assume he doesn't want to show banned accounts publicly for whatever reason.

Someone told before that if people will able to see on the forum that the member is banned, they will be biased against everything written by him/her.
However, the "banned" status might be shown to registered users exclusively, on the personal page of the banned member.
...
Why don't we ask for a new feature, like a checkbox in the profile if you want to see if members are banned or not. The default would be not to show if a member is banned and only those who are interested would tick that box to show them the banned status instead of the rank under the username in a post.
This way, average joes won't see any difference but those who care (and report) would get an extra help from the system to be more effective.
Just an idea
212  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: The Jet Cash coffee lounge thread. on: February 06, 2019, 08:48:33 PM
I think less time spent in McDonalds, and more exercise is the answer. When the weather improves, I'll spend some time clearing my garages. Here is a pic of one -
...
I've got eight like that.
...
Wow, nice collection Tongue
What about putting the usable things on ebay? You can get rid of the unnecessary stuff and also gain a bit more capital to trade with Smiley win-win Cheesy
213  Other / Meta / Re: [RELEASED] @mention notification bot - now with Telegram on: February 06, 2019, 08:30:45 PM
...
There is no point for the bot to tell me my bitcointalk nick, I'm usually aware of my own name Smiley (also no name, makes it harder for multi-account-ers)
...
That's a good idea, I like it, I also know my nick Cheesy

...
I have also edited out the massage or rather part of it. There is no reason for including the fraction of a post, it gives almost no insight and sometimes all we get is an emoticon or just few letters.
...
I also disagree, sometimes I can see that the reply was a kind of shitpost, so there's no need to check that reply.
Bot is fine, thanks for all your effort Piggy!
214  Other / Meta / Re: 250 profiles merited (by me) in 1 hour and 2 minutes – What’s got over me? on: February 05, 2019, 08:27:32 PM
I’m still stretching my fingers after going on a merit awarding streak, having just merited 250 people with a single merit in just over an hour.

I was one of those 250 people. Thanks for awarding my post 👍
Me too, thanks very much for that extra merit Smiley
You know, every single merit counts if someone is heading to the next rank Cheesy
If I merit one of your posts from now on, I'll become a merit backscratcher? Tongue
215  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Ok, here's a 1BTC puzzle. on: February 05, 2019, 07:44:16 PM

You don't need to visit a site to make from a phrase a brain wallet, you can do that with a script from almost any coding language. Y will leave an example from bash script:

https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/21259/is-there-a-way-to-generate-a-brain-wallet-from-the-command-line-or-console/21322

You only have to google 'Bitcoin brainwallet language' change language for JS, c++, or the one you want to use.
And it's more safe to write your own code (or at least compile it for yourself after you have understood the code).
On a webpage, you can't be sure that the code behind don't check your freshly generated private key, before you have a chance to have a look at the private key itself...
So handle these web page scripts with the necessary care....
216  Other / Meta / Re: Alternatives to Permabans for plagarism on: February 05, 2019, 06:42:53 PM
~

I want to focus attention that forum obtain much more benefits if guilty members wouldn't be banned at once and they will need to make good posts to get their signatures back.

I like this idea. Unfortunately 90% of the signature banned account would have been left there hanging, only 10% will care about those accounts. It's not easy to gather 100 merit nowdays, so if someone manages to gather it, that would be really good for the forum itself.
217  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos, can you solve the mystery? newbie with 2 merit watering avatar? on: January 31, 2019, 10:20:46 PM
I'll bump this one as I still have no clear answer for those accounts.

Any admin that whats to share a some info in the case??
I think that removing the avatar of these accounts would only be a click only for the account owners, and they would totally leave us in doubt afterwards... We wouldn't know that it was only a bug and has been fixed since, or it has been just removed by the users...
Strange anyway, let's see what happens
218  Other / Meta / Re: Starting all over again with new account. No response from admins :( on: January 30, 2019, 09:19:15 PM
Good news!
The admins have sorted me out and have my old account back.
Thank you
Good to hear that it's sorted
Please don't leave this thread to become a spam fest, lock it as soon as you get back here, don't give the spammers a chance to hijack the thread
219  Other / Meta / Re: AWESOME (AND UNDERUSED) FORUM FEATURE! on: January 30, 2019, 09:02:48 PM
The ignore feature is worthless.  If I used it every time it's warranted, what would I do for entertainment?
Don't worry too much about the ignored spammers, there are a lot of members who keep quoting them, so you won't miss the most important part of their spammy posts Cheesy

I've just done a quick google search for Natasha Otomoski and found 1 result, but I don't understand the language and the facebook page doesn't load for me, probably because I don't use facebook account, so I can't reach the content?

With this simple method, you will display this article in your local system language (keeping the fonts readable to you)

By the way, you can not waste time, because I've already checked it a few days ago and I did not find anything in this post ... Maybe it's some clue ...?

OK, so no new information, in the end.
Anyway, thanks for this trick, I didn't know it previously, it seems useful
