201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Moolah Scam on Mintpal - Reporting Missing Coins on: August 26, 2015, 02:25:49 AM
Any news?
Somebody could help us?

I can tell you the Syscoin team has not stopped in their pursuit of the coins which were stolen from our team (750BTC). While our case is independent of the Mintpal investigation we have worked with Mintpal employees who watched their platform burn at the hands of Alex Green (real name: Ryan Kennedy) to try and see him held responsible for his utter scamming and lies.

The case is ongoing (been over a year now- we have not stopped) and Ryan is basically a vagrant now from the information we're aware of (living homeless). We are continuing to pursue him and will update the community when we have something more we can share. We know assets were seized by police and there is still an ongoing investigation. We do not know what will happen to seized assets or on what timelines but we will continue to see this through so long as our finances permit.

Ideally we'd get some compensation and Ryan would be thrown in prison. Even though this doesn't mean everyone who was screwed will get their coins back, hopefully at the very least we'll be able to know Ryan is getting what he rightly deserves (imo he needs hard time in prison and he should be required to pay restitution for the rest of his life). More to follow as we have news.

Sidenote to those contacting coin-devs looking for help: Being a dev myself (SYScoin) I can tell you they can't help. Ryan controlled the servers with the coins, and either transferred your funds to his personal holdings or left the servers to die / have their data (wallets included) wiped. Ryan was the ONLY person within the Moolah organization that had access to the funds.  Undecided

Sorry I've been quiet, traveling this week and busy with work leading up to the travel plans- SYS work keeps going though, that's why its awesome having such a large and timezone-diversified team! First things first...

Team Call 22 Meeting Notes

I'll update the roadmap tonight as indicated in the meeting notes. Also the Supernet MGW wallet is currently undergoing internal testing, although not mentioned in the team call notes as I just got an update on that today from James @ Supernet. We've got a LOT of news coming this week, millionaires club, Syscoin Shop, roadmap updates, mobile wallets and more.

Syscoin is a long-term project with a lot of big vision. Those who participate in our slack and have been watching us over the past few months know that we're very serious about making Syscoin a long term success and really being one of the first/only coins in the space with real traction on a decentralized marketplace platform- usability and consumer education are key aspects in that regard. Not going to go on and on- if you watch us you know our position  Wink

I think it's bullish the more retarded trolls butthurt over not being able to buy as price rises the better.

I was trolled in the past for saying I had quadrupled my position since IPO...  how does DECUPLED sound fools!!!!!   Kiss

I work for SYS (being on the team and all) AND I buy SYS w personal funds as much as possible. Smart money knows these prices aren't going to last!

Team Call 21 Meeting Notes

Now live! We're posting the notes to the blog as we move forward as it has better reach v. posting in Slack- lots of items coming in June. Looks like mobile wallets will be live by next weekend as testing is in its final phases for both iOS and Android. We have plans on integrating the mobile wallets with blockmarket (via QR code) as well for purchasing from the palm of your hand / on the go (after 1.5.3 is released to mainnet).

We're going to be resetting the cakenet to test Syscoin 1.5.2 b5 tomorrow evening, if you don't see any cakenet nodes at the moment that is why. We'll post in more detail when we reset the cakenet tomorrow evening, this item is included in the team call meeting notes.

So can someone help me with what would be better for the turbo staking? Large sums or a bunch of tinier deposits for the turbo staking?

I'm curious about this as well although I'm not sure anyone's going to really give up the answer.   Huh
Ya I kind of figured that when I asked twice so I've decided to set mine up in medium sized clumps instead lmao

Yeah I'm not sure on this one either so I'm going to have 1 larger clump and a few smaller, see which yields the most! I'm sure some sniffing through the code will reveal the answer

Thanks for any advice  Smiley

rpcport=Any Port , you should type any port number above 1024
port=80 , you should type any port number above 1024 and must be different from the above port.

make sure you have the port=PORT opened in router/firewall (you can dmz your router) check if port is opened here www.canyouseeme.org

I can confirm instructions work if you have the ports open. Just stood up a few masternodes myself- great job on the instructions btw dev!

Can not download the wallet. Link is not working.

i'm uploading a new update. will be up in minutes.

Required update or is this just for the locked wallet issue? Also, what are the rewards for running a masternode? I have a masternode started successfully but I'm trying to determine if its working as-expected. Do masternode rewards only start after PoW ends?

Thanks for the useful guides to setting up masternodes on various networks too, GJ!
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MEOW] KittehCoin Relaunch IS HERE!!!! on: May 18, 2015, 08:26:08 PM
I am no longer working on Kittehcoin. @ryandanielt and @veremit are now in control of ALL kittehcoin properties and have been for several weeks at this point.

Dan, is  MEOW also going to join Supernet?

Danno has removed himself from coin development and is slowly letting the coin die purposely while he builds his income from syscoin. He was supposed to transfer any and all the files so that we could start the relaunch but after a couple months of him sending 1 message every 3 weeks saying he was sending them still nothing.

I have been trying to help but it seems there is no room for other projects (Syscoin) or outside-crypto life emergencies (family member passed) when it comes to Kittehcoin development. ALL the assets were transferred 4-6weeks ago, not sure why I'm still being leaned on). If there was such a strong drive to revive this coin then things like forums, a block explorer, a website, and social channels all could have been stood up without leaning on ME as the excuse.

My piece of this is done, I've transferred all files, assets, and domains to the above two users. They will take it from here. Clearly I'm of no help to the endeavor. I am assuming @ryandnielt and @veremit will have everything running on their own boxes (website, forums, block explorer) - they've had all the assets including direct SQL access to my boxes for several weeks at this point, I see no reason for my services to remain up and keep costing me that precious income I'm trying to build.

I'll be turning my boxes of Friday May 22nd @ 10pm US/EST. Its disappointing to see that even after assisting in transferring the assets I'm being made out to be the "cause" of the delayed revival. The onus of reviving the coin lies directly with those interested in seeing it revived, to that end its just passing the buck to point at me and say "we're waiting on Dan" when not only do you have direct access to all the pre-existing assets but you could easily reboot from scratch without having to "wait for Dan" at all. Instead you've decided to paint me as the bad guy. In reality Kittehcoin could have been up and operational months ago if you/anyone truly wanted to revive it. Hopefully investors can see this since coins are being launched daily while Kittehcoin languishes waiting for... me?  Huh

You can have a website, block explorer, and forums up and running in <12hrs for 0.5btc or less outsourced. Its my understanding that @ryandanielt is a technical person so he should have had this completed long ago. Nevertheless my portion of the transfer is complete. Wish all the best to the Kittehcoin community and its investors.

Has the block chain stalled?

Last block (369857) appears to be 9 hours ago  Shocked

Yes it has, things should be moving in about 2hrs this is a large scale KGW calculation issue were actively investigating and tracking with the help of the community via our slack.

This issue is of utmost priority to us but lies in the KGW algo when these condition present themselves (from what we know this far).

Look a new (3rd party) Block Explorer: http://www.blocktree.io/e/SYS

.. Nice graphs!

Development Update! New MAINNET PRODUCTION Wallet!

Latest News (30th April 2015):
Updates From Syscoin's Latest Busy Week!

Syscoin QT v1.5.1.1 is now the official "mainnet" syscoin wallet and should be used for handling your "real" SYS. We've added multiple DNS Seeds which are located around the globe so you shouldn't need to use Syscoin.conf/addnode at all unless your using Syscoin.conf for other things like running the RPC server. Also have added more checkpoints for added chain security.

... always working, more to come ...
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain ( New SuperNET Core Coin ) on: April 30, 2015, 03:58:08 PM
Once it will be everything ready for the launch it would be nice to have a good article/paper that explains all the benefits of sys's market over its p2p competitors.
It might give sys the visibility it truly deserves.

Absolutely and it's in the works! One of our awesome team members @sidhujag is working on it as we speak!

Yup it's almost done and ready to go public too - it's a great write up. Any specific competitors you're looking to see covered other than freemarket? We've included a few others but we'd like to hear specific competitors to compare to from the community  Wink

Requests?

Dan, it would be great if you include in the review the security issues of the DN markets. How vulnerable they are against the attacks. For example if the authorities try to shut them down, if a hacker tries to heist escrowed funds, etc...

This is a GREAT idea especially with how authorities have recently taking over TOR exit nodes to reveal clearnet IPs of users using link-trickery. Will tack this on as something that not only applies to darknet markets but "TOR" markets in general. You may want to sell some stuff that's totally legal and isn't drugs or anything but your government just wants to entirely control the sale of it so you open up a shop on the darknet to sell these items. Or you're prevented from selling for some reason specific to your locale- like because you're a woman or not of a certain social standing. We can show how easy it would be to eliminate these centralized shops whereas with Syscoin it can't be stopped.

...This may warrant its own separate blog post because it also gets into the power of Syscoin when it comes to marketing merchant items too. We were discussing in Slack yesterday through reseller features we're building into the Syscoin marketplace system you'll be able to curate existing offers on the marketplace and "resell" them for a small % fee. So sellerA could list their items on blockmarketA run by them... and then other users- who have nothing to really sell themselves but who are running blockmarkets could literally resell sellerA's items on their blockmarkets C, D, E, and F. This gives the seller's items way more exposure than they would ever get if they continued selling their items using centralized platforms. And it of course increases revenue opportunities for participating merchants.

We also got into discussions about how your could use the certificate service to control which merchants were valid resellers for your items but that's a longer conversation. I really encourage people to hang out in our Slack, we have some really in depth discussions on marketplace, feature design, and implementation ramifications #general on almost a daily basis!

Will Blockmarket listings be stored on a particular node/server so that if that node/server is taken offline, the listings disappear?  That is how OpenBazaar works.

Good question, I plan on creating a blog post about the differences of something like OB, Shadow(SDC), BitBay etc (which are P2P based) and Syscoin which is blockchain based. OpenBazaar works with Ricardian contracts that try to mimick what the blockchain is doing externally while sending messages to nodes via p2p (BitMessage) about listings. The blockchain stores it in the ledger and is fully secure and a blackbox from system perspective.. more moving parts with the p2p model which may open it up to DDOS or Poison attacks. With the blockchain method (only Syscoin and NXT free market are the ones to do this) you dont store the listings on any particular node, they all get each listing and payments can happen offline. The front-end running the marketplace needs to be online (obviously) for the person to be able to view and pay for the offer.

Bloat is the ONLY downside with this method but MANY MANY upsides which you will see with very cool integrations I will do in the near future. The bloat issue can be solved by pruning the blockchain similar to the approach done in bitcoin recently which prunes old blocks that are fully spent (https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/commit/f9ec3f0fadb11ee9889af977e16915f5d6e01944)

It will be really good if you make a comparison between OB, SDC market, BitBay, NXT freemarket and SYS blockmarket.

(emphasis mine)

Excellent point and the focus of an upcoming blog post- its definitely not a light subject but we've been researching the various competitors (at a code level) or those to which we're compared to often (sometimes completely incorrectly, ie: SDC / p2p v SYS / on-chain). We're planning by the end of the week, weekend at the latest to have a post up with a clear comparisons between SYS and these other types of implementations- all with their own merits. We're running just a lil behind due to the busy marketing weekend and packaging blockmarket.

We've been rapidly iteratively updating the readme.MD files related to Blockmarket and all its related dependent libraries as we've been receiving very helpful feedback regarding "gaps" in the instructions. We'll also be working to make these instructions more Windows/Mac friendly as currently they are Ubuntu Linux based, and add a FAQ section and a small Wiki section as well.

Last night @coderboo and I were on "Let's Talk Bitcoin" for the first time Smiley the episode should be public in a week or so. I will get the "weekend wrapup" blog post up later tonight and also package up and release the 1.5.1.1 latest mainnet binaries with the new global DNS seeds for faster syncing anywhere in the world, additional checkpoints and a small bugfix. This release is not yet in 'master' so you should not pull and build manually yourself just yet, wait til the blogpost tonight please. With this update it should completely remove the need to use "addnode" anymore in your Syscoin.conf unless you're using addnode to connect to cakenet (testnet) nodes to test the 1.5.2 beta out, which we highly encourage  Grin

Blockmarket Beta GitHub Code Now Public!

We've made the repository with the Blockmarket code public (still beta!) and I've done my best to write up the readme to make it as easy to setup as possible. As many of the dependency libraries it uses are still changing rapidly the beta phase is a little harder to get setup in vs. after-launching. Once this is all "production" you won't need to clone things like angular-syscoin-api or manually install bower, that's just a beta thing.

Please use github issues to log problems you may find, even if its just confusion with getting things setup. I've added a few we're already aware of to get things started!

I'm wondering about new wallet info since from the scope of the issue a new wallet will def need to be released and I want to get that ASAP so I can start staking for real please Smiley

Can we get some clarification on the new wallet / if its available? Also information on these resources should be consolidated:
- there is a git repo on github https://github.com/BitSeedsFoundation/BitSeeds
- another repo on sourceforge http://sourceforge.net/projects/bitseedsofficialrepository/
- link for the windows wallet on the homepage is a dead megacoinz link

Would be nice if all this was a bit better organized please.
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain ( Joining SuperNET ) on: April 25, 2015, 10:23:56 PM

pools?

We will be added to the SuperNET multipool shortly: http://altnuts.com/. Other pools can be found on the OP an don the website http://syscoin.org under "Pools" towards the bottom of the page. If you notice any pools that are dead, please report and we will remove them ASAP!

I recommend GMC pool until SuperNET MP has SYS added as they are merge-mining.

Please remember this is just the first in a series of news releases we have coming this weekend as I noted yesterday in my breif post- MORE TO COME! Grin

Also big thanks to the community for the support and patience in getting this partnership formalized, this will be really big for SYS and SuperNET!

New partnership? What is that?
We demand for details!

WOW things have been quite busy @ Syscoin SO much going on, let me try to wrap it up quickly for you since I need to get some sleep but its ALL GOOD news coming:

  • BIG (imo) partnership being announced this weekend, prepare for it around 4-6pm US/EST tomorrow or thereabouts. More info to follow shortly before the ANN.
  • We are working on the beta code-release for Blockmarket as promised. Because of so much else going on its been just slightly pushed until Saturday/Sunday of this weekend.
  • We will be releasing a new mainnet client that is a highly recommended updated, Syscoin QT 1.5.1.1 with alias fixes, more DNS seeds (geolocated!) and addded checkpoints
  • We will have a blog post with a full round-up of all the information that's publicized this weekend, posted Sunday
  • We'll be doing another interview on LTB Monday

Lot's of REAL stuff going on here at Syscoin. We're really putting in work to not only address issues (less than a week turnaround on the mainnet bug) but also we're pushing forward aggresively towards the 1.5.3 release, getting people ready to understand and use Blockmarket as soon as its released to the mainnet, and pursuing strategic partnerships which you'll be hearing more about very soon!  Grin
