201  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin halving, how low the price can be? on: March 26, 2024, 07:03:32 PM
I always keep my eyes on Fear and Greed index.
https://www.lookintobitcoin.com/charts/bitcoin-fear-and-greed-index/
This is the craziest level I've seen of Bitcoin in its circle. At the moment it's over 80% and the
https://feargreedmeter.com which I use calls it Extreme Greed. The market is very much active and excited.

even the last time they predicted B TC to go $100K in 2021 didn't happen. we know now that they are just hyping all these to get more people into crypto market. it's working though and i guess we just need to be part of it and hype this thing to hit that price too. we are all in this together you know.  Grin
No one holds the holy grail when it comes to speculation. It's either below the mark or above it. If there's a target hit, then it's pure luck. I don't believe anyone knows exactly where price will be this bull run to hit ATH, we can only speculate. On the part of getting more people onboard the crypto space as you alleged of PlanB, I don't think it's so. If there's anything, making a prediction puts its reputation on the line. Just like it's doing now after the failed one in 2021.

Quote
if i have to predict how low the price will be is probably the same as they say, maybe around $52k since that's where the support line is. i'm not good at predicting also so i could be wrong.
If we hit $100k before halving, I don't see price crashing and losing almost 50% which will be what $52k would be. $100k could be possible. It's just more $30k to go. In this industry, everything is possible. However, if we only get between $70k–$80k, then $52k dump is more likely after halving.
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is meme narrative shifting from Solana to BASE, BNB? on: March 26, 2024, 06:34:20 PM
OP, you forgot to add Ton to the mix. After the success of its first memetoken – Ton Fish that did extremely well and considering Ton chain's affiliation to the so much talked about tapping  bot on Telegram, Notcoin, there has been momentum in that part of this industry of recent. Its second meme project TonPet (TPet) that was launched today also received great attention, sweeping quickly past its softcap of 1000 Ton. Solana, BNB now have a strong competition in Ton.

BTW, I think Ton deserves a looking, especially now that it's the darling of telegram wallet. I'm sure not many know yet that there's a telegram wallet with a P2P enabled on it. Just make sure to save your seedphrase if you're using it and then link an email address to it to enable a recovery process in case there's a loss of telegram account or a ban.
203  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Argentina to Pressure Citizens on Declaring Their Crypto on: March 26, 2024, 02:50:00 PM
I am waiting for the day they all slowly start punishing for not declaring.  They are inducing fear now, it will be a punishment next.
Government institutions always gradually test the waters and make it look like whatever legislation they come up with is for the good of their citizens but it's all lies. They stylishly forced KYC on exchanges and have now moved a step further to asking citizens to declare assets for the convenience of tax assessment. We know that's not a germane reason. There's an ongoing battle in my country with Binance and government. My country is accusing Binance of sabotaging her economically and seeking Binance to start paying tax. It's laughable how these politicians, not understanding jack about cryptocurrencies, jump into it ignorantly to control it.
204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: End Goal or Keep HODLing? on: March 26, 2024, 01:33:35 PM
I wouldn't have said this but I am much more concerned about the fact that we have been hearing so many people talking about holding Bitcoin for the long term and never selling. I find it so confusing that after investing so much in Bitcoin for years we won't want to sell our bitcoin till we die.
I will continue to maintain that those who say they've been hodling since the creation not Bitcoin and through the circles may not be saying it the way it's. They could be hodling for a long term but taking profits here and there and rebuying at certain points. I don't think anyone will be able to withstand that temptation of not taking profit at every profitable bull rally.

Quote
Also, I have the belief that Bitcoin will keep breaking new ATH forever. Should I leave my Bitcoin forever without selling it or set a goal that I have in mind and when it reaches that goal I sell and take my profits?
Even at that expectation that Bitcoin will keep breaking ATHs to set fresh ones, it's advisable you take some money off the table. Doing that empowers you to have some funds set aside that will enable you re-enter the market at a dip, in the event that you don't want to spend it on some personal frivolities.
205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Memecoin hype getting higher on: March 26, 2024, 10:11:02 AM
Now memecoins are in demand due to the possibility of higher returns. And it makes people crazy. What's your opinion about this?
Someone said that in the bull run nothing else makes sense except hype and that's what we see with memes now. The market is getting crazy and most people aren't even concerned about the utilities of these tokens, if they actually have any or not. Where the hype is, is where the money goes and that's where the noise is. Memes are where the noise and hype are now. However, it's good to note that many people will get burnt investing in memes this circle. Greed will do so many in who wholeheartedly think cryptos is a sure bet to riches and they erroneously believe every investment in meme will turn up a great ROI. The caveat here, in my opinion, is for people to only invest what they can afford to lose. Nothing more. Otherwise, there's going to be enough heartbreaks and stories that touch the heart resulting from meme investments.
206  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My First Experience With Bitcoin on: March 25, 2024, 11:46:37 PM
Learn from his experience but dont be eager to invest right away. You need to study on how it works especially now that the market is good and entering on this phase is kinda expensive. A lesson we must face is that we should always take extra caution if dealing on fomo. Sometimes its good but majority it end up badly. I was kinda having feeling of mixed emotions with the story but thats how life turns out. Kindly be someone that learn to study and think many times first before jumping in any of possible investment.
The sad reality about these hyped investment stuff is that most people want to jump on them without researching it first once they're told their involvement would give them a certain XYZ returns on their investment. They cry foul if what's promised isn't achieved as if anyone truly controls the market. I've been in a WhatsApp group of private investors to a presale and someone there asked to be explained to what the investment was all about. That's after they've invested already. It was shocking for me.
207  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: how to follow whales? on: March 25, 2024, 11:11:52 PM
I realised that small group of whales basicly own bitcoin market and do whatever they want with price. On which indicators I have to watch to follow them? volume only? some shapes on charts?
Don't follow any whale. They will mess up your brain as you will constantly be glued to their wallets as if you don't have a life of your own. In the past I was concerned about that too and on-chain analyses would help in that aspect. It wasn't to monitor when those whales are buying more or selling off what they had. It was purely to check out projects those whales are deploying funds to, and then research those projects if they aren't popular already. In this space, I've come to realize that once a project is being talked about by most people, just know it's already getting late buying into it.

In all these, learning TA (technical analysis) is key. That skill enables one know the likely direction the market could be moving. On TA, the best indicators to use in my opinion are indicators that lead and empower breakouts (BO) like trend lines, pivots points S&R. Learn how to use those and you will be happier you did now. L
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Notcoin Mining on: March 25, 2024, 03:32:21 PM
An update for notcoin miners...
These are really exciting times for airdrop hunters. It's a come back season for this trend like it was in 2017/18 and wealth is getting redistributed so to say once again. Launchpads aren't likely to have enough patronage this time as many projects are going the way of airdropping to build their communities.

However, what I don't like in the Notcoin news is fixing price when the reward hasn't been distributed. This is likely going to make it cut down on reward distribution if they feel the listing price is going to be high.
209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe is saving screenshots of useful information and BTC transactions? on: March 25, 2024, 01:15:57 PM
I have a friend who likes taking screenshot so much that he would take a screenshot of even payment transactions from banking apps and large or small bet winnings. I don't know if he loved to brag with it, but he won lots of arguments with real traders and sellers who accept transfers and claim to have not received it.
If it's to prove liars wrong, then it's ok to take screenshots as evidence. However, the shots should be deleted as soon as they serve their purposes.

Quote
I just knew then that he had already done so, and upon further chat, he already did because he wouldn't really tell me what he's up to until he has done it, that's how I have known him for long. He is still oblivious of my membership here, although I would tell him somewhere on his trading journey.
He keeps stuff away from you just the same way you keep stuff away from him. It's an equal match in secrecy. If you guys have this type of friendship, I don't think it should bother you much with what he does with his life.

Quote
I am concerned now however about his screenshot taking habit, because it would be more problems for him if his phone falls into wrong hands and they see screenshots of Bitcoin transactions mostly.
Everyone has one important info or the other they keep on their phones and it behooves them to make sure they activate security features on their devices in case they fall into wrong hands. I would suggest SIM lock in addition to phone lock. I believe your friend should know about that too.

Quote
* My question is, how safe is it to keep screenshots of Bitcoin/crypto transactions and useful information, on ones device?
It's not safe but then it's the price we pay for having mobile devices.

Quote
* How do I go about letting my friend know about such a habit of taking and keeping screenshots on his device that I have observed and warn him about it, without looking like I sense bad days coming?
It's better he's warned than not warned at all. There's no sweet way of breaking a sordid news of death of a loved one to a bereaved, no matter how sophisticated the euphemism employed into it.
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Venom Token Potential Reward For Early TestNet Users - Guide on: March 25, 2024, 10:28:50 AM
~smipped~
Well its not yet the testnet airdrop I believe. I am sure its segregate cause not all testnet have okx or registered on the event.
Well, let's say it's looking like the Venom project has a different approach to distribution of its airdrop as I'm beginning to think too that there could be more distributions to come. Early participants won't mint all those NFTs and then miss out on the largesse because they weren't able to provide OKX details. Perhaps, there's going to be a particular kind of reward for those who minted the NFTs. Anyway, it listed below $0.5, then dumped slightly to 0.3 but it's back trading around its listing price now.
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Venom Token Potential Reward For Early TestNet Users - Guide on: March 25, 2024, 05:48:28 AM
~
The last quest from OKX is not the main one, as it is carried out after the snapshot has been completed.
Contrarily to that, I think that's the main one or part of the main one. I sent in my OKX details two or three days ago and did only six tasks out of the more than 20 tasks but I received a mail from OKX a few minutes ago that my 29.87 Venom was on the way to hitting my wallet. I guess the amount is uniformed for all participants from the screenshots that others have been sharing. The amount is small, given the stress of the numerous tasks therein and how long the testnet lasted. Anyway, let's see if it lists above $1.
212  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Spending extra to keep my assets out of trouble on: March 24, 2024, 05:19:53 PM
I believe this is not a safe practice so I prefer to spend more on ETH gas fee, move the tokens out of my hardware wallet into a spare wallet connect the spare wallet to the website swap to the new V2 token, and move the new token back into my hardware wallet.
You did the right thing. The extra money you spent in safeguarding your funds was a part of a wise attempt. Recently, I had an encounter like what you had. It was with Metagalaxy (Megaland), an old token I had that had its migration but I didn't know of until it was past. Someone sent me a link on how to go about it manually. I sensed something was off with that because it was unsolicitedly rendered. I moved out the token to a fresh wallet and attempted the migration. It dawned on me it was a link that led to a wallet drainer. It would've drained my funds if I had attempted to migrate in the first wallet. People should be very careful. Scammers are getting wiser.
213  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC dip again? on: March 24, 2024, 02:59:05 PM
...bitcoin still go down to at least $50k?
If $50k is your target entry, you may be lucky to get that. It's certain that price will dump more after halving. So, I encourage you to wait till after halving if you can't get in at that price now. Don't be in a hurry to trigger any trade.

However, I'm so surprised that a good number of our members are still struggling to buy Bitcoin whereas they could've done that last year when Bitcoin was there and literally begging to be bought. I'm not even buying Bitcoin anymore. I saved up all I want to around $30k to $35k region last year. I'm done. I only look at altcoin investments now.
214  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC go back to $40K - $30K range before a bigger rally? on: March 24, 2024, 02:22:50 PM
It looks like OP missed the bus and wishes there's a nearby stop for them to get in, figuratively saying. Anyone desiring that Bitcoin could dip to the $30k region will have to wait till after this circle. I don't even see $40k happening now when we're just days from halving. The market may see a dip to $50k before and after halving but certainly not $30k. Now we've institutional participation and I don't see how these institutions are going to panic and sell off like what we saw in the past with individuals participation.

If you have not been active in the venov blockchain, then you definitely do not have the right to receive an airdrop. It does not happen that someone receives an airdrop from Venom and does not claim the 19-20 NFT that the participants received during the test period.
Well, I don't know how that will eventually end but I can tell you too that I didn't complete all the testnet activities. I minted about six NFTs and then the whole thing became cumbersome and I stopped. Venom was a project I followed since 2023. I was able to send my OKX UID and the Venom address from that exchange. If the project was restricting those who didn't do all tasks, I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to send those addresses.

I do think maybe they will compensate those who minted something and not reward only those who completed the whole task. By the way, not many people even participated in the testnet.
216  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and it's holders in our society on: March 24, 2024, 10:20:42 AM

I have not seen a situation whereby government attack traders in nigeria, theirs one popular Nigerian bitcoin trader called blord,  government have tried to severally to arrest B.lord and they could not arrest him, even when economic financial crimes commission  [Efcc] filed case against b.lord, the b.lord won them in court of law, nigeria government is not against whosoever that is into cryptocurrency trading, even some of the politicians is even saving their funds with cryptocurrency especially bitcoin
Really? Why are the youth harassed then for having crypto apps on their phones? The Anambra born BLord was arrested just like some other crypto OGs in Nigeria because there were allegations of fraud against them but those allegations couldn't be proved at the time. From the way it's looking now, it's obvious that the government is anetema to the growth of cryptos. Don't forget that anything that gets people independent of the government is seen as anti-government all over the world. It's not just a Nigeria thing. This is what cryptos do. There are so many Nigerians who depend solely on cryptos to earn a living and careless of whatever government does with unemployment. By the way, why is the Nigeria government asking Binance to release names of its Nigerian customers?
217  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you feel when you earn merits in your post or replies. on: March 23, 2024, 09:28:18 PM
Because of fear and huge phobia to write nonsense, I started reading the posts of high ranked members, precisely from full member rank up to the legendary rank to know how they organize their words and come out with a quality post.
That's the right way to go about it (learning from others). They say to be successful, one should study those who are successful in that field one's going into, and then one should add sparks and style to it. This is akin to standing on the shoulders of giants to see far.

On the merit thing, of course the first few merits received would create a level of excitement but as time goes on and the merit continues to pour in, that excitement of getting them begins to wane. I felt that rush too, especially merit that enabled me move through the ranks.

Imagine a person who purchased BTC in 2011 and held it for 13 years, his profit from this investment is huge.
I'm sure anyone hodling that long will either be having numerous wallets with Bitcoin and then decides not to move certain wallets or they're simply dead. You can't tell me someone will witness two Bitcoin circles (and the third one is around the corner) and the drama of their halving and still conquer the temptation of taking profit. That's almost impossible. They must be taking profit from somewhere else.

Quote
Now think you are that person in 2035, you can calculate the profit margin and this will help you calm your nerves.
That can't be me. Besides, all that adrenaline rush and temptation will be enough to cause anyone high blood pressure. It won't calm any nerves. What if anything happens to Bitcoin or one's wallet before 2035. It's only greed that can make anyone expect that much and stretch the period to take profit that long. Such a person is even hurting the space by hodling that long because what gives Bitcoin its price value isn't in hodling but in buying and selling.
219  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Success is a meaningless word without failure. on: March 23, 2024, 04:16:26 PM
Success and failure go hand in glove just like life and death. Man often wants the first and not the latter. Anyone who tells you they've been winning in their game consistently without failure is a blatant liar. There's always that period of learning in any profession and trading isn't exempted from it. That's the period failure comes in. Experienced and profitable traders have stripes and injuries sustained over the period from their involvements but may not want to always share them so as not to scare the upcoming ones. In juxtaposition, success becomes meaningful and appreciated after series of failure. That's true. Otherwise, the achiever won't value it. Again, no one ever has success thrown at them. Even if bequeathed by dead parents or relatives, it's not success but inheritance.
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Meme and Alt Coins investors, how do you treat with your conscience? on: March 23, 2024, 03:19:20 PM
To those that invests on MemeCoins and the disreputable highily weaked volatility AltCoins, how do you treat with your conscience? How peacefully do you get your eyes closed when asleep knowing that they are short term investments that can earn you regreted if you don't sell at the right time which you were opportuned to make profit?
😂, "treat your conscience" indeed! Anyway, isn't why there's that caveat that people should invest only what they can afford to lose? That's right. Any investment that gives anyone the adrenaline rush, it means the investor went overboard in their commitment. It's not advisable to treat memes like one would do altcoins with use cases. However, memes are very good in flipping accounts. They give unbelievable ROI and that's why investors keep going back to them. For me, if I fancy a meme project I throw in a few dollar into it and watch nonchalantly what happens next. If it's profitable and does a certain number of X, I take out my capital with a bit of profit and allow the rest roll. Don't panic when you invest in memes. If it will make you panic when you invest in them, then don't invest.
