Does your bank see your purchase as a case of fraud?

That sound is capacitor whine. It can happen on brand new top end PSUs and isn't necessarily a sign of impending doom.
At least don't panic...until one of your loved ones catches fire.

Then only react in a "mildly" alerted way. (So as to not further scare the individual who is on fire.)

Fear and misinformation is your speciality isn't it :s

Its colloquially known as capacitor whine, however it appears to be coils [which makes sense that PSUs can be affected] https://www.google.co.uk/#q=capacitor+whine&safe=off.
I had two PSU's (not made by BFL) that have made that sound. One eventually degraded to a perpetual burn smell. The other had a whine similar to (but not the same) as described by the OP. Save to say it didn't keep its voltages steady (within specification of the ATX standard).

If it whines you shouldn't continue to run it until it further degrades in it's operation as a PSU.

Fear and Misinformation is not my specialty. It is the exact opposite that people worry about.

Sounds like Phinnaeus has a relapse. Someone call 911
He's doing fine, I have him on eyeball drips full of truth.

He is dazed and confused at times, but he will snap out of it given enough drips of truth. (powerful stuff!)

Dance little monkey's, dance!

Is that advice for your customers that have been waiting 3 months or more? Me being one of them
I enjoyed last seasons finale, it was amazing! haha
2008  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [FAILED]Butterfly Labs 30 day countdown to the end of September on: September 23, 2013, 06:35:10 PM
Think of Lazj99 everytime you see a BFL refund via PayPal.

Think of YipYip [et al] everytime you ignore another customer email (thereby pissing people off, until they become eratic and postal).

Think of the clown trolls when you have to lay off staff because the  company went bust.

Then, think of yourself, from an AF pilot to a shody company that never has lived up to its potential.

Smile, you are on God's camcorder!

Dance little monkey's, dance!

Because you are awesome!

Haha look at the little minions scramble every time I post.  A single post from me brings out the entire Anti-BFL crew to hang on my every word, it's freaking awesome.  You crazies spend more time paying attention to me than you do your own lives... I'm not quite sure what to make of that, but I'm sure glad I'm not you!

Dance little monkey's, dance!

Delusions, achieved!
2010  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 3 day sale on Baby Jet or Sierra! on: September 22, 2013, 07:53:37 PM
Well, when all the lawyers and amateur lawyers are done poring over legalese, thomas_s., bobsag3, and I are trying to sell our 2nd Sierra in 2 days thanks to this Flash Sale:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=299171.0;all

Upfront, I'm not your lawyer or your financial adviser but we have at-cost shares available for those interested in either a MPP (Round3) or non-MPP (Round4) shares in an at-cost HashFast Sierra. Who knows if we all lose our shirts, but at least we'll all lose our shirts...together!  Cheesy

BFL seems to be ramping up production, so it's time for a gut check.
Must be because their wallet is on fire.

Strange, they suddenly found the motivation to ship quickly after all these months...
2013  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 3 day sale on Baby Jet or Sierra! on: September 22, 2013, 07:20:02 PM
Read Hashfast's NEW Terms of Sale.

I'm still waiting for someone to point out the monster read flag that now exists there.

It shouldn't be that hard for you to find, they change their terms on an almost daily basis.

4 times alone just a week ago in consecutive days.

You would be nuts to agree to such terms, why aren't their buyers in uproar, oh because;

1. Absolutely none of them have read what they actually agreed to, let alone saved copies of the terms they agreed to on the exact day of sale.
2. Hashfast conveniently neglect to tell anyone what they are really doing and when they make these changes.

READ THEIR FRESHLY EDITED TERMS OF SALE...!!!!

No secured payment.
Unrealistic, now 'anticipated' delivery dates.
No warranty to speak of.
No ability to refund in a reasonable timeframe for failure.
Chip specs based on best case simulated values.
No recourse.
No third party liability.
No accountability.
No real protection.

Read their terms of sale, they change them frequently after purchase.

Let's play a game, I want to see who spots the new entry, and it's a huge negative...
I see what he is talking about. The problem is there is no easy way to import the differences in their terms of their agreement.

Some sections and wording were significantly changed.
2014  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 3 day sale on Baby Jet or Sierra! on: September 22, 2013, 07:07:20 AM
These are not price competitive compared to the others who are just about to be shipping. What was their company thinking? (That people wouldn't realize that?)
2015  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: So was Monarch development the cause for BFL being so slow ordering 65nm parts? on: September 22, 2013, 12:32:55 AM
I can't shake the feeling that BFL was using customer money meant for 65nm parts to secretly fund the Monarch's 28nm NRE costs.  It would explain why ordering parts was so god damn slow.  I'm not familiar with NRE costs.

If the Monarch actually launches on time, it is a gigantic kick in the teeth to 65nm customers.  Make their 65nm customers wait forever, then screw them over even further by launching their own 28nm hashing farm.

Avalon did pretty much the same thing...
Not even close...

Activist "Troll" Forums?

Who would have thunk it possible?
2017  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Need a PayPal refund for your BFL purchase? on: September 20, 2013, 02:04:27 PM
Second, that "40 days to ship" seems to mesh with the "operational mistake" of shipping out of queue that BFL got caught at the other day.

Interestingly, my account at BFL is still active (I half expected it to be insta-banned for this) and my order still shows as "processing". So maybe they're hoping they can get to my order/all these orders within 40 days and that people will sign for and accept the package so they can get PayPal to recharge them?

I'm not sure if PayPal can recharge you or not but I suggest that you do NOT sign for a package from BFL if you have received a refund.  Not only is it dishonest, but you may end up paying for a worthless product.

So i email Paypal about this matter because my order on BFL also still "Processing".

This is the respond email  from Paypal:)

Can you contact them and tell them that BFL is ["apparently"] sending a huge number of Tracking numbers to PayPal that aren't actually in transit to delay the Chargeback process....and see what they have to say about that?

Could you ask them to investigate this on your behalf?
2018  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon fucks us over again on: September 20, 2013, 07:24:45 AM
Will this reach BFL proportions? Lets see how long until it reaches the 100th page!
2019  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL board project COINTAMINATION - EU+USA facility - need samples for one board on: September 19, 2013, 10:03:28 PM
Is this first time in history of BFL that it delivered something on time?   Cheesy
Nah, they were priced on par with Avalon chips (per Gh/s).

So if the Avalon chips were late and could no longer ROI, the BFL chips are also...WAY....to late.

Those guys developing the open BFL platform already acknowledged it. It is just another case of heavy debt.
2020  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs 30 day countdown to the end of September on: September 19, 2013, 09:47:38 PM
That statement about the majority was made on Aug 19th at which time the network speed was ~465TH.  They would have only needed 233TH to have the majority.  Just recently someone posted a screenshot of Josh saying 30-45% of the network depending on what you consider it to be at the moment.  That would make it 300+TH at this time.  Around 67TH difference in a month.

Everyone thought at the time that BFL could not have that much due to the Avalon chips, but we've all seen what happened with Avalon.  If Avalon didn't have that 150TH from the chips that everyone was saying they did, who did have it?

See my below quote from the other BFL thread.

I would like to note that BFL's monarch page currently states:
Quote
So fast forward to our first generation ASIC chip which was an original design.  We delivered exactly the speed promised, but the power consumption was higher than predicted.  That caused a controversial release delay while we adjusted the PCB to accommodate additional power.  That 65nm ASIC chip is now powering the majority of the bitcoin network
And that quote was ORIGINALLY made over a month ago.  It's something that every company out there does, they state their claim to fame and when it changes, none of them update it.  It's so sad you require a different example from one company while ignoring all the others that do the same.  I think the terminology is Hypocrite
The proper term is "misleading" or perhaps even "False Perceptions".
