it just keeps going...
2042  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 09, 2013, 03:14:51 PM
Trolol I thought gox had "fixed" this.

they aren't deploying the announced change until april 17th. i don't know about anyone else, but it's the 9th for me. Cheesy
2043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Listen to bitcoin...fucking awesome! on: April 09, 2013, 01:28:06 PM
absolutely brilliant. i've been listening to it off and on for a few days now. very relaxing, like a babbling brook.
2044  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Future Bitcoin millionaires - will you cash out when you hit $1M? on: April 09, 2013, 01:20:39 PM
i'd not necessarily cash out in the sense of selling btc for fiat, but i sure as hell would spend some, even if that required conversion to fiat. i mean, house, car, more mining hardware...
2045  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Logos on: April 09, 2013, 01:11:07 PM
if i were to bother having a logo, it's likely be just like what ya see as my avatar - except holding a pickaxe maybe. heh.
2046  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DIY PCB with AVAlON - [Documentation ready Mid April!!!!] on: April 09, 2013, 12:55:38 PM
so this would NOT include avalon chips? do we have any idea what they may cost per chip? also, what would your set up run, per 2.5 ghash? in short, would it compete favorably against bfl's supposed prices? not that i trust bfl to ship mind - i just want to know if i'm looking at a couple hundred bucks for a miner or what.
2047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: more profit GPU mining litecoins or BTC? on: April 09, 2013, 12:43:28 PM
hang on - really? 1btc mined directly, but 1.88 btc if ltc is mined and sold to btc? ...huh.
2048  Economy / Economics / Re: could bitcoin eventually *cause* a global economy meltdown? on: April 09, 2013, 12:37:27 PM
i don't think it can be seen as "could cause" since bitcoin already exists and is, even at the meager adoption levels we're seeing (compared globally, i mean) having an effect on things. it's more like there is, or will be, global economic meltdown, and bitcoin is a factor.

i'm all sorted now. thanks. Cheesy
2050  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 09, 2013, 05:09:15 AM
So that's kind of a scary thought.

The stereotypical 4-door sedan is now something you could probably buy for only 100 BTC.

50-75 BTC for the more ecconomic models.

Granted I'm probably not the best one to be making judgements of car prices but the price is getting to where bigger items could easily be managed in coin, and that's pretty cool.

don't remind me... last july i had about 22 btc. over the months from then to now, i spent it on, mostly, video games. worth about 4k USD now... from $150 USD back then. argh.
2051  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1200 Gh] MtRed (PPS, LP+, API, 0 FEE) STRATUM on mine.mtred.com:3333 on: April 09, 2013, 03:57:08 AM
so since sometime last night i've been unable to connect to mine.mtred.com:8337. been using that exact set up for a while now with out issues unless the pool was down. but since no one else is saying its down... whats up?

Blocked ip? Read up a couple posts.

oh right! duh. thanks. pming rex.

8337 is get work. Rex has disabled it. Switch to the stratum port.

...stupid guiminer default. ok, changing that...

ok, NOW i'm getting time outs or "failed to subscribe" with both miners. ugh.

2053  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: April 08, 2013, 11:07:11 PM
what kind of price were you paying for the most recent ones? (i'm so desperately in need of more hash!)
2054  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [DB.RCLMR] DeepBit "Reclaimer" ASICs on: April 08, 2013, 10:36:41 PM
Hello.

Reclaimer project was cancelled due to complete lack of public interest. All bond buyers were refunded at icbit.se
Total number of bond buyers was 7 (seven). Of course some of them bought more than one bond, but this is obviously FAR from making any sense in mass-production.

80 GH/s for $2800 is still pretty damn good. Shame the project fell through the cracks.

IMO, you ran into 2 issues: Your prices weren't competitive, and your payment methods were confusing and convoluted as hell. The first one doesn't seem so bad now, so if you get a simpler payment method, and reopened this project, you'd prolly get some sales with no problems.

agreed... we really need more then avalon and asicminer... and i don't know that we can really count on BFL to deliver.

Bears seem to be so stupid that I'm wondering who they were smart enough to buy Bitcoins at the first place.  Grin

Go easy, the coins need to distribute, and if early adopters are defined as the first 15% of the total who adopt BTC, then the bears are playing a key effort in distribution. All early adopters should benefit, so the bigger BTC gets the better for all.

depending on adoption levels, even if we assume only say, a few hundred million globally, doesn't that make us ALL early adopters? ...wohoo!
2057  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL just raised prices significantly - and changed the specs on: April 07, 2013, 07:31:39 PM
i just want SOMEONE to deliver a lower priced option for ASIC. i mean, with avalon the only game in town right now, the little guy (hi!) is screwed. all i can do is buy asicminer shares (and barely that...) a low cost mining device would be VERY welcome. shame BFL is the only one to offer one.
2058  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 07, 2013, 06:02:10 AM
What sort of return would BTC75 worth of asicminer shares get someone if they invested today?

I'd say it would probably be a very reasonable return. I encourage you to thoroughly research the asset and do the math for yourself though. Don't blindly trust random people online  Tongue.

if you strictly want the math of BTC75 worth of shares x dividend - i think shares are selling at .7, lets call it .75 in case i'm wrong. so your looking at 56 shares, give or take. the last (admittedly small for reasons described in this thread) dividend was 0.00255553. so, 56 x 0.00255553 = BTC0.14310968 weekly. at current exchange rates, that's about $20 USD.

I think you need to look at your math again. If he buys BTC75 worth of shares at BTC0.75, that would give him 100 shares exactly. Using the last dividend, that would net him BTC0.25555300. Which, as you pointed out was small. Using the lowest dividend from a week without lots of expenses (March 7th) of BTC0.01917149, would have earned him BTC1.91714900, which at current exchange rate would be approximately $275 USD. Like I said, very reasonable return. I just feel like it would be best if he did this math on his own and learned about the company so he can make an informed decision of his own.

*blink blink* clearly, i fail at math.

I prefer your math... I think everyone should sell ASICMINER shares cheap now!!

On an unrelated note, anyone who wants to sell ASICMINER shares below exchange prices, please PM me.   Grin

says you! i only have ONE! yes, ONE share. shut up. Sad
