2041  Economy / Speculation / Re: So are bond traders right… or is this time different? on: October 31, 2022, 04:01:00 AM
Right now we are at a difficult level.

Stocks are rallying. Bonds are selling off.

So either the bond traders are right and this is nothing but a bounce and we will head lower after the midterms. Or the equity traders are right and we bottomed and the bond traders are wrong.

In my experience you should pay attention to what the bond markets are doing.

There is also presently a pump on treasuries and bonds. However, this is very much similar to gambling on your favorite sports hehehe. The traders and investors in the cryptospace and equities markets have placed their bets and gambled on uncle Jerome's next decision. It appears that they are optimistic that the uncle's next announcement might be positive for markets hehehe. I am not very optimistic.

@Daltonik. I am skeptical on their statement about blaming Celsius because they could have been bankrupted regardless if they had funds or not have in Celsius. I will say again that we cannot be in denial that the low price of bitcoin are killing much of the miners who cannot achieve maximum productivity corresponding to mining difficulty and the price of electricity.

For much of the people in the thread it is bankrupted by Celsius and complain on the low price of bitcoin, high price of elecricity. However, it can also be bankrupted because of low bitcoin price then blame Celsius.

I might be mistaken, however. They are a public company, anyone can research their quarterly net earnings from bitcoin mining.
2043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Largest public traded Bitcoin miner- Core Scientific in critical condition on: October 30, 2022, 01:47:38 AM
@OgNasty. The cryptobillionaires would certainly agree that there is no reason to be fearful hehe. As mentioned in news articles, there are some them who have begun offering troubled miners loans to give them the cashflow to continue their operations in this bear market. This might really be a bail out, however, this is a bail out that is much needed to avoid miner capitulation.
2044  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Largest public traded Bitcoin miner- Core Scientific in critical condition on: October 29, 2022, 05:43:01 AM
Next time when you post news, post a link to the source like this one: https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2022/10/27/bitcoin-miner-core-scientific-warns-it-might-go-bankrupt-stock-plunges.html

Anyway, this seems to be the actual reason for their bankruptcy:

Quote
The filing also blamed "litigation with Celsius Networks LLC and its affiliates" for Core's financial struggles. Celsius was once one of the biggest names in the crypto lending space, offering annual returns of nearly 19%, until it filed for bankruptcy this spring.

So it's not because of mining, but because of foolish exposure to Celsius.

The clown crashing cycle continues.

We cannot continue to be in denial of reality that the higher costs of electricity is the biggest problem. This is what the article mentioned from the same source.

The crypto miner said its "operating performance and liquidity have been severely impacted by the prolonged decrease in the price of bitcoin, the increase in electricity costs," as well as "the increase in the global bitcoin network hash rate" — a term used to describe the computing power of all miners in the bitcoin network.

https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2022/10/27/bitcoin-miner-core-scientific-warns-it-might-go-bankrupt-stock-plunges.html

However, the reason why is much less important than what might occur if this problem continues to bother more miners. We should be more concerned on miner capitulation.

@Vaculin. Who will Spence challenge in the higher weight division? Will it be the champion? It might be because Errol Spence's team has calculated the rewards and the risks. A fight for the unification of the welterweight championships might be high reward, however, there is higher risk. A challenge against the boxer in the higher weight division is also high reward, however, lower risk.

In any case, it appears I got lucky for week 8 hehehe.

Very funny ha ha. Well, I didn't have much hope for it anyway Grin

I'm so thoroughly fucked this week that I might have to play without a WR. Two players with a "D", which I can't move to IR, so I can't shop for replacement. And three players on a bye, which I don't want to drop.

I was not laughing at you. I was really very afraid that I might get my next loss from your team with Jmarr Chase and Josh Jacobs starting to create similar performances on week 7. If you also had Travis Kelce available, it would certainly be a win for you.

I might be in a similar situation on week 11. My starters will be on their bye weeks hehe.
2047  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-10-26] UK Votes in Favor of Recognizing Crypto as Regulated Financial Inst on: October 29, 2022, 03:38:08 AM
@ETFbitcoin. Agreed. It is not very excitng news from the most religious of bitcoin maximalists that want bitcoin to be recognized as currency, however, for investors who are using bitcoin as an investment, this is certainly good news. It will help pump the price hehehe.

On NFTs and Defi, if it has begun and if there is no clarity in regulations on NFTs, it will certainly only grow. With moneylaundering pumping the NFTspace, this will only become more attractive for investors. 2017 was the pump of ICOs, 2021 was the pump of Defi, I speculate 2024 will be the pump of NFTs.
2048  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: October 28, 2022, 05:02:32 AM
If anyone needs a wide receiver, I dropped Wandale Robinson to add a running back for my team. There are some fantasy experts who speculate that the rookie might be targetted more by Daniel Jones until the end of this season. I did not want to drop him, however, no choice for me. Week 9 for me might be difficult and also week 11 because of player bye weeks.

In any case, it appears I got lucky for week 8 hehehe.
2049  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Largest public traded Bitcoin miner- Core Scientific in critical condition on: October 28, 2022, 04:25:15 AM
Glassnode made an analysis on both bullish and bearish cases in one of their weekly newsletters for October. Everyone can read the full analysis in the source of this summary.

One of the bearish cases is on the miners' profitability and the increasing hashrate. It is certainly clear that one of the 2 should occur. Price pump or miner capitulation. However, there is also a third possibility which has already started. Jihan Wu, Changpeng Zhao and Justin Sun offer the cashflow to bail out the miners.

The mining industry has been in the spotlight of late, with hashrate and difficulty pushing to new all-time-highs (covered in WoC 40). This acts to increase the cost of BTC production, despite miner revenues per hash falling to all-time lows.

The Difficulty Regression Model is an estimated all-in-average cost of production, and is coincident with the spot price of $19.3k at the time of writing. A bearish cross-over was last seen in mid-2018, with a major mining industry capitulation following soon after, and persisting for several months.

Indeed, the mining Hash Price has reached all-time-lows this week, with miners earning just $66.5k/day per Exahash applied. With Hash Price now falling below the post 2020 halving lows, despite coin prices being ~2x, this demonstrates just how extreme the recent increase in hashrate competition has become.

Overall, the Bitcoin demand side, as measured by on-chain activity and network participation, is lacklustre to say the least. There are some green shoots of hope in the mempool, however there remains a $1.5B overhang of coins held by the mining cohort, whom are in extremely distressed territory.

A deleveraging event of miners may lead to distribution into thin orderbooks (WoC 42), historically light demand, and persistent macroeconomic uncertainty and liquidity constraints.

Also, I understand your argument, however, my argument is why did he not choose Boots Ennis, Vergil Ortiz or Keith Thurman? What is the purpose of fighting Avanesyan?

Of course, because these boxers are big threats to his title he only wants a tune fight because there is a possibility that the fight will happen next year, same with the case of Spence he will not fight these three, I will be surprised if Spence will fight any of the three, he will likely choose fight that is not on his level but will poise a challenge to his skill, its really bad that they did not agree on small details, but as long as both are on the welterweight and they have their respective titles the negotiation is still open.

If Spence is also fighting someone similar to Avanesyan to avoid Ortiz, Boots Enmis or Thurman then I want an answer to the question on why Terence Crawford is going to fight Avanesyan instead of the real contenders. I reckon no one will say it because it would prove that the first argument presented is correct.

I guess Spence fighting Thurman would be a good fight to witness, we will forget our disappointment in the Crawford vs Spence fight that didn't happen. This one should is easy for Crawford, so let's see who will Spence fight, hopefully one of the names you've mentioned.

It might be good, however, I want to watch the real contenders fight the kings of welterweight hehe. I have mentioned this a few times already, Boots Ennis is the 3rd king of welterweight boxing. We only have not wintessed his greatness because he is not being given an opportunity. I want to see Ennis vs. Thurman. This would be the best opportunity for Ennis because if he defeats Thurman, he will have a big name in his record and he shows that he can fight vs. the best. Also, it will not be similar to an ICO scam boxing fight hehehehehe.
2051  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-10-26] UK Votes in Favor of Recognizing Crypto as Regulated Financial Inst on: October 28, 2022, 02:56:47 AM
@NeuroticFish. What is certainly bullish about this is there will be more institutional investors that will buy and hold bitcoin because the fear of it being under an unknown legal classification is not there anymore. Also, there might be more financial outlets for regular people to buy small amounts of bitcoin and altcoins.

Imho this law only brings more clarity. Crypto was not prohibited in UK and businesses have contracts or departments for the legal part, there was not much of fear there.
So there may be only the average Joe who may get some more trust in that, but the history tells that people tend to invest when the price grows fast and they FOMO, not when there's a clearer legal status...

I speculate the next unregulated part of the cryptospace and where criminality's billions of dollars might flow is in NFTs. This cashflow going inside might help NFT total market capitalization grow by 10x or more.

I don't know... while proper companies (eg Disney) start testing the waters of the NFT world, for now I see most of the NFTs are based on images worse than my son would do in Paint(brush).
What I say is that NFT scene has to evolve some more to indeed get hands on the big money.

Agreed, however, it is the institutional investors mostly that are unwilling to take a risk because there is no clarity on regulations. Their billions of liquidity and cashflow will certainly cause the new fomo of the new bull market. The average joe has never really moved the market. We are usually the dumping ground hehehehe.

On NFTs, it appears not much people has understood that it is not only about the artwork. Much of it is about the idea, the community and the culture. It is very much similar to memes. But memes where you can make some money like altcoins hehe.

@cr1776. Trading futures is for a different type of investor. They only want to profit on the volatility of the markets. They do not want to hold the assets.
2052  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NFL Sportsbet.io discussion & predications thread rev on: October 28, 2022, 01:07:13 AM
@ralle14. Agree on your analysis and your prediction, however, it is presently the 2nd quarter and it appears Tom Brady is giving the Ravens defensive team some difficulties hehe. @nutildah in the other NFL thread predicted the Buccaneers to cover the -1 handicap. He did not give an analysis but it appears he did it because the spread moved from +1 to -1. He is 3/3 in his predictions.

The analysis of @wheelz and @DireWolf14 have also been very good.

Does anyone have a projected 7-9 fantasy points tight end player on their bench who is available to trade? I want to trade Tyler Lockett who is projected to give you 13 fantasy points and it might be more because DK Metcalf is out for week 8.

Also, tight end's bye week should not be week 11 hehehehe.

Juwan Johnson is available on the wire, he filled in for the Saints other tight end last week and had a good day.  If you only need him this week, it might be worth picking him up and keeping on eye on the injured starter.

I am looking for someone who I can hold until the end of the season. I do not have a place on the bench for Juwan Johnson except if I drop Wandale Robinson. But I will need Robinson for week 11 when Tyreek Hill and Mike Evans are on their bye week. Motsert is also going to be on a bye week on week 11 hehe. 3 starters in total.

I believe we can recover faster than what we previously imagined, also read my thread here, I believe the 4 year cycle has been broken and is no longer useful as a reference when the recent economic crisis occurs, Bicoin can solve that problem, let's see developments in the next few weeks and don't forget to buy now is a very cheap price, bitcoin is like a fast train so buy it before the fast train leaves you all

I disagree on both of your arguments if that is possible when I present you my argument hehehe. We might not recover faster if the war between Russia and Ukraine does not stop. You also argue that the 4 year cycle has been broken. However, it has not yet been broken because we are still in early in the cycle. Next year will be telling, I reckon.

In any case, yes next year we might begin to agree on one of your arguments. Slow economic recovery implies the 4 year cycle being broken and a faster recovery than expected would imply the 4 year cycle continues.

@mk4. I very much agree!

Similar to what I have told everyone before, if Jim Cramer began doing the opposite of what he wanted or what he was supposed to predict and tell everyone, it is working uehehehehe! This might be bearish Cramer being bullish. The whole cryptospace is pumping!

2059  Bitcoin / Press / [2022-10-26] UK Votes in Favor of Recognizing Crypto as Regulated Financial Inst on: October 26, 2022, 06:10:36 AM
This might be good on some sides of the argument and this might also be bad on the regulatory side, however, I am certain they did this more for the preperation of the future and the recovery of their economy than for regulating the cryptospace. The liquidity that the cryptospace might offer on the next bull market might be trillions more than what we had during 2020-2021.

The UK’s economy has been declining. Citizens have been dealing with a slew of concurrent issues, ranging from inflationary concerns to the energy crisis. In the midst of all of this, Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation at the end of last week.

Rishi Sunak has now taken over the position of Prime Minister. Sunak is pro-crypto, as he envisions making the UK a crypto innovation hub. Amidst this situation, lawmakers in the UK voted to recognize cryptocurrencies as regulated financial instruments and products.

The vote was passed by the House of Commons, which is the Parliament’s lower house. The topic was discussed for a line-by-line reading of the proposed Financial Services and Markets Bill. The bill also discussed the inclusion of cryptocurrencies as regulated financial services, which was put forth by Andrew Griffith. The bill includes the regulatory details for the inclusion of stablecoins.

“The substance here is to treat them [crypto] like other forms of financial assets and not to prefer them, but also to bring them within the scope of regulation for the first time,” Griffith, the financial services and city minister.

Any chance they were actually targeting the fiat that should be in the ATMs?

It is quite a certainty that they were targetting anything they can find that has value in those ATMs. However, it would also be quite funny if those armed men thought that bitcoins are real coins and that they can steal them physically hehehehe.
