1481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Justin Sun sued by SEC. Effect on Bitcoin? on: March 23, 2023, 03:47:38 AM
Another stressfull news for the community.
Tron founder Justin Sun sued by U.S. SEC on securities, market manipulation charges.
Market insta dumping since the news is out just after the fomc meeting, lol what a timing (seems like its all played and planned). Does anyone know how many btc does justin have to dump on us ?

Source of news: https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2023/03/22/tron-founder-justin-sun-sued-by-us-sec-on-securities-market-manipulation-charges/

Similar to what I have mentioned before, there is presently more spot buying on bitcoin than leveraged buying. The instadumping did not make bitcoin drop more than 5% on the closing of the day and we might not anymore witness much of the liquidity cascades that causes these volatile drops on the price this year.

Also, stop this fud. Why are implying that Justin Sun will dump a high amount of bitcoin on us?
1482  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price guess for March on: March 23, 2023, 02:16:13 AM
There is also a rumor that the SEC has sent wells notices to many founders and development teams of altcoin and Defi projects.

Coinbase received a wells notice hehe. It appears that this can be considered as proof that the rumor about wells notices being sent to different founders and development teams of altcoin and Defi projects might be true.

In any case, a wells notice is a letter from the SEC that tells the receiver that they will enforce the rules and regulations on them. This might be difficult for Coinbase.

We asked the SEC for reasonable crypto rules for Americans. We got legal threats instead.

Today, the SEC gave Coinbase a “Wells notice” regarding an undefined portion of our listed digital assets, our staking service Coinbase Earn, Coinbase Prime, and Coinbase Wallet after a cursory investigation. We are prepared for this disappointing development.

With John Ryder, it will give Canelo a boost of confidence after it. This fight is not even hyped or probably because they don't want to ruin Tank Davis's moment.

It would be very head scratching to speculate that Canelo vs. Ryder fight can ruin Tank vs. King Ry's main event. No one wants to pay to see Canelo fight Ryder. There is no hype behind this and who is this John Ryder?

I reckon what the fans would like to see for Canelo is fight Benavidez! However, it appears Canelo is avoiding him hehehe. Canelo wants a rematch vs. Bivol but Bivol is avoiding Canelo because he wants a unification in light heavyweight.

@Hueristic. I very much agree. However, is Damien Harris a big running back improvement for the Bills if we compare him to Singletary? Why did Bill Belichick not let him play in his former role after full recovery from his injuries? The Patriots RB1 became Rhamondre Stevenson on the last few weeks of the regular season.

In any case, other trades are Jimmy Garopollo was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, this might be a good improvement from Derek Carr. Another quarterback trade is Baker Mayfield to the Buccaneers, from the goat to Mayfield hehhehee.

Everyone can have Mike Evans on our next draft heeheheh.
1485  Economy / Speculation / Re: The bitcoin pump on March 12 on: March 22, 2023, 02:11:35 AM
Bitcoin price has currently increased overnight. For a long time, the price of Bitcoin was between 20k and 22k, from where the price has increased and now it has touched 27k. I can roughly predict that Bitcoin price will touch 30 in March. Because there is good news in the future of Bitcoin and Bitcoin Halving is waiting ahead. According to the cycle, Bitcoin grows exponentially every three to four years.

I am always skeptical and cautious when there is a pump, however, it also appears that there is more spot buying of bitcoin than buying bitcoin with leverage. The price has pumped to touch $28k but the open interest today is presently still lower than the open interest on November, 2022. This implies that it is not leverage pumping bitcoin and it might also imply that the next dump might not have as much volatility.

I just had a look at the open interest chart from LookIntoBitcoin. It doesn't show much of a downtrend since June last year, but more so sideways as well as rising considerably in the past week to reach close to October/November highs.

That said, price is quite a bit higher than back then, while the open interest remains similar. I guess to me it looks like there isn't "too much" open interest, but I wouldn't say it's very low anymore either.

Similar to what I have said already, it implies that the pump is because there are more spot buying of bitcoin than there is buying bitcoin on leverage. This also implies that if there is a dump, it would not cause that much liquidity cascades which sometimes are the cause of more than -10% dumps.
1486  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ChipMixer.com has been seized. on: March 22, 2023, 01:28:51 AM
ChipMixer boldly promised to delete all logs, don't keep confidential information and don't store private keys of payout Chips. It lied to everyone.

Unless you are somehow privy to information the rest of us don't have access to, it's yet to be established that ChipMixer kept logs.  We know that data was seized, but people are merely speculating on what that data might be.  If you could try fo keep any accusations you might wish to make evidenced by verified information, that would be appreciated.

I reckon all web servers keep logs, temporarily or permanently, for different types of reasons. It would not be shocking for Chipmixer to have kept 30 day logs for customer support reasons in case something went wrong with the user's transaction with the mixer or because of other technical reasons.

Also, if there was 7 terabytes of data taken by the authorities, how much of the data are logs and what other types of data do mixers keep?

@james3441. If that is true, why was chipmixer.com seized? It would have been better to let it continue.
1487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Bitcoin services do we need for mass adoption? on: March 21, 2023, 01:29:53 AM
For mass adoption I don’t think it’s necessarily more services that need to be created as much as it is the basic acceptance of crypto for existing services. El Salvador being a good example. The government could kick off mass adoption by just announcing that Bitcoin is legal currency. When you can use it to purchase everything that a dollar could buy, then we’ll see mass adoption.

However, in El Salvador the government did declare bitcoin as legal tender but mass adoption has not occurred. I reckon that from this observation there should be something more in bitcoin that people think they need to use it. I speculate that if Defi and NFTs come to bitcoin, this might bring more adoption and acceptance in 5 years than it has for the last 10 years.

Well mass adoption can't occur until people actually get educated on Bitcoin. Bitcoin is doing fine in El Salvador but like everywhere else in the world most people aren't educated on Bitcoin so they don't want to use it.

And no DeFi and NFTs are not what is needed. NFTs are a small niche fad, the opposite of what is needed to gain more adoption. DeFi as it has so far existed is basically just a bunch of gambling schemes. We need real services on Bitcoin not collections of crappy NFT images selling to a few thousand people or gambling schemes.

No education is not the problem for why people do not like using bitcoin in El Salvador, I reckon. Price volatility is what is discouraging people in adopting it as a currency. I shake my head why we cannot admit this.

Also, I cannot say what is needed for mass adoption, I can only speculate based on what might occur. It appears that many people in the bitcoin community are underestimating the growth of NFTs and the adoption it might bring for the whole cryptospace. Everyone should not forget that NFTs have cultural value because it is art and art has existed before money was invented. People have been collecting and trading art since ancient history. This development should never be underestimated.

I think I've seen a service like this in the US that they help people with their claims but is it really possible to happen with those companies that have already filed for bankruptcy?
You have seen a service like this that allows users to trade their claims?

This is a first one for me, and I won't lie to you. I don't trust it any single bit

We should not trust it because this service was created and being run by one of the biggest crypto leverage gamblers of the cryptospace. He is also known for using his other crypto hedgefund friends and followers as exit liquidity. He had influence over the Defi trading community before. If he shares something bullish on a coin or token, the price will pump and what he is really doing is dumping on them hehehehe.

This exchange was founded and created by Su Zhu, the owner of 3 Arrows Capital hehehe. The hedgefund that gambled with all their funds on GBTC and took too much leverage using their GBTC as collateral to different lenders.

I am not quite certain where the scam here is, however, I speculate that Su Zhu might be looking for exit liquidity for their own claims hehehe.

1492  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⚽🎮🎲 Coinplay.com | Brand New Crypto Sportsbook & Casino on: March 20, 2023, 12:46:06 AM
However, do you not reckon that in many occurences when the winner is a new account that has not yet passed all the KYC requirements, the casino should be very careful in giving a very big win without carefully checking all the details of the person?
It is always weird if a new user created an account and shortly later won very big. It looks like that user is an expert in gambling and do know how to make exploitation on the casino.

I am sure if a winner falls into such type, a casino will do seriously consider KYC request before processing withdrawal that should be big.

Quote
If it is an old account that has been gambling in the casino for years, there would certainly be a good argument.
That is true on all platforms. If you are a very old user and has very clean history, good reputation, it's a big support for your account and any accusation against you.

I am not accusing any person of cheating. I am only telling everyone that a sportsbook or a casino would begin doing standard background checks on the account and certainly if the account is new. If a casino is not strict, does not do any background checks and sends the money to the user right away without questions, I reckon the casino will be a target for scammers, moneylaunderers and cheaters. The casino might also become bankrupt in 2 years hehehe.
1493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: March 19, 2023, 05:57:27 AM

^ With the fight hype like this, they would really want a rematch and Golden Boy wants its space for it. I think no matter who wins they will have a rematch. And If I would read between the lines here. They will deliberately set the fight just enough to make it fun and exciting yet also disappointing to consider a rematch.

I reckon a rematch will only be negotiated if the lead promoter's fighter, the favorite Tank Davis loses through a knockout. Another possibility of a rematch no matter who wins, is if the fight is very exciting and both Tank, King Ry are shown to be equals in the ring, very much similar to Inoue vs. Donaire 1. However, if Ryan Garcia is knocked out, there will certainly not be a rematch.
1494  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ChipMixer.com has been seized. on: March 18, 2023, 12:30:39 AM
What will happened to those who use the mixer previously. Is there a chance that my Bitcoin will be connected by Bitcoin use from money laundering or we are still safe? I use Chipmixer every week to mix my coins. It’s sad to read this bad news.  Cry

Agreed. This is very much similar to how the government has arrested Tornado Cash's developer for creating a tool to protect someone's anonymity and privacy. I reckon if a car was used by a criminal to kidnap someone, the government cannot arrest the car company or if a cellphone was used as detonator for a car bomb that killed hundreds of people, the government cannot arrest the cellphone company.

And yet, in the case of Tornado Cash, hundreds of millions worth of different coins linked to the mixer in one way or another were frozen. This was generally a blanket move. This wasn't just done selectively to suspicious wallets and addresses. This included funds of innocent and unsuspecting Tornado Cash users.

However, the argument remains the same. The government does not have the right to arrest the creator of the knife if his creation was used to murder someone. The government should arrest the murderer. I am shaking my head why there are some people who argue that the arrest and detention is acceptable because it is not.

Well, views differ. Apparently, your view isn't shared by the government. It is unfortunate, however, that the government is the one that is more powerful than you. If you think that they don't have the right to do this and that, but they don't agree, they will prevail.

So whether you think the government does not have the right to arrest somebody who is just writing an open source code, Alexey Pertsev is in fact still in jail right now. Whether we believe that starting a marketplace is not a crime, Ross Ulbricht is actually rotting in jail until today. So while we all agree that providing the people the means to protect their privacy isn't a crime, this Nguyen could indeed end up in jail as well.

Agreed that we have different views and the government is more powerful. However, based on the argument, I am not implying to everyone that no one will get arrested. I am only saying that if someone developed a tool to use for privacy and it was used for criminality, it is not creator of the tool who should be liable. This very much similar to the arrest they did to developer of Tornado Cash.

Also, if the government tells you to stop using bitcoin because it is illegal according to their view, would sell all the bitcoins you have because of their power or will you fight for your right?
1495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: March 17, 2023, 04:48:48 AM
@BBC as wheelz stated the problem is there’s just not that much available out there to try and go get, and there’s definitely no one as close to as good as Rodgers available, even at 40.

David Montgomery signed by the Detroit Lions late last night.  As a Bears fan, Im actually really happy about this. I think he’s criminally overrated.  There’s a lot of solid RBs available right now and apparently the Bears are considering trading for Ekeler. He’d be a great upgrade but not sure if his contract would be reasonable.

The rpa action between fields and Ekler would be deadly.  I'm not big on large contracts for rbs but this one would make sense for the Bears.  Short passes and the run game for the Bears would be elite between those 2.  Good veteran presence in the locker room too.  Wonder what chargers would want back in a trade.

At this point I think there’s too many solid running backs on the free-agent market that you’ll be able to sign for much less than what you’d have to give up to the Chargers, plus what you’d have to spend signing him after trading for him, as you’re of course not going to spend capital to get him for him to only walk away 1-2 years later (not sure exactly what his current contract looks like).

Derrick Henry might also be available, and despite what most people think, he’s actually got a lot less wear and tear than many assume as he sat behind Murray for a few years so he was eased in to begin his career.

Damien Harris is available, would love for the Bears to swoop him up.

Derrick Henry might be the needed player for the Buffalo Bills to win the superbowl! It was speculated last year that they were asking for the Panthers about Christian McCaffrey and his availability after the Panthers fired Matt Rhule. This implies that they want a runningback who is better than Devin Singletary. Derrick Henry will certainly be this player.
1496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: March 17, 2023, 03:10:01 AM
PPV and obviously the live gates where the money will come in, and they are guarantee to have millions already. So yes this could be one of the biggest fights for the year and who knows, could be fight of the year if both of them left their hands go and fight till they take each other's head.

And the hype is already there, all they have to do is create more drama in their face-off, which they did already and that's why the tickets have been sold already. Only contention is the PPV numbers I guess and there are a lot of speculations on how much they will get either in US or worldwide, but I think it will still be big numbers.

If they sell out the arena, they will undoubtedly make a lot of money in ticket sales. Just imagine the price of those tickets

Quote
How much do tickets for Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia cost?
Tickets for Davis vs. Garcia start at $729, per TicketSmarter.

Prices then range from $800, $900, $1,000, $2,000, $3,000, $4,000, $5,000, $6,000, $8,000, $10,000, and $11,731.
https://www.sportingnews.com/us/boxing/news/gervonta-davis-vs-ryan-garcia-ticket-prices-las-vegas/h7dvl5lqvkxbzhtjmjb334lo

Only true boxing fans would be interested in attending the fight in person. While the ticket prices may be expensive, there will undoubtedly be people willing to pay the price to witness these two great boxers face off in the ring.

According to some articles, after the tickets were sold out, there were some buyers who wanted to by them for $29k. This is fight is very much hyped. I wish it will be a very good fight similar to what much of the experts have predicted.

Also, the promoters should rent Las Vegas Raiders' Allegiant stadium, have a big screen and let everyone pay $100 per person to watch the fight hehehe.

In any case, what Tank is telling everyone in this article might become a reality if he gets the victory. Similar storyline for King Ry, I reckon.

Gervonta Davis was at a bold mood this week at the press conference for his blockbuster fight with Ryan Garcia, claiming he has taken Canelo Alvarez’ spot as the biggest star in boxing.

Clearly buoyed by that feat, the Baltimore puncher told attending media that he believes he stands alone as the biggest name in the entire sport.

“I feel as though I’m already that guy in the sport. Canelo is going out the door, all these guys. I’m the face of boxing, let’s just say that.”

After this win, it’s just me getting over the hump. If you don’t watch boxing, this is the fight to watch – for sure.”

1497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [News]Signature Bank Collapsed, It Embraced Crypto Without Sufficient Safeguards on: March 17, 2023, 02:38:05 AM
It appears that Elizabeth Warren, the good senator of the Democratic party, has begun her storyline for this year. This will be to blame the cryptospace if the failure of Signature Bank will spread to other banks very much similar to the financial crisis that begun on 2007. She is presently not blaming the cryptospace directly, however, it would not be shocking if the banks will be given stricter regulations if they want to accept institutional clients from the cryptospace.

Senator Warren further alleged that Signature Bank took on “excessive risk” to boost its bottom line by serving crypto clients, such as the Nasdaq-listed crypto exchange Coinbase, blockchain infrastructure platform Paxos, and collapsed crypto exchange FTX. By December last year, crypto clients accounted for about 30% of Signature Bank’s total deposits. Warren stated:

Signature Bank bought into its get-rich-quick narrative … Signature Bank was caught short because it embraced crypto customers with insufficient safeguards.

According to Bloomberg, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) were already investigating Signature Bank’s work with cryptocurrency clients before regulators took possession of the bank last Sunday.

1499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: March 16, 2023, 03:11:06 AM
If he will manage to take this one away from the monster, it is surely a good start to move up and
challenge the current champ on his chosen division.

Actually, I want to see Stephen Fulton having a rematch with a much-improved Brandon Figueroa in the 126 after this match against Naoya Inoue. I'm sure Fulton won't bother to stay at 122 anymore regardless of the result of this match as that was already his original plan and it's just timing that Inoue decided to move up.

I also think Fulton is not considering having possibility of a unification match against his fellow title holder at 122 lbs, Murodjon Akhmadaliev which has a scheduled title defense against a Filipino, Marlon Tapales next month. He is surely want to moved up weight no matter what.

Can't wait to see the result of this match and how it will change the current phase of the Super Bantamweight division.

If Stephen Fulton loses against Naoya Inoue, it might not be good timing for him because Figueroa won recently vs. Mark Magsayo for the WBC featherweight interim championship. Fulton should win 1 fight in featherweight before he can argue for a challenge against Figueroa.

Has anyone created a thread for Murodjon Akhmadaliev vs. Marlon Tapales already? We should watch this next fight of Inoue's next opponent after Fulton hehehe.
1500  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⚽🎮🎲 Coinplay.com | Brand New Crypto Sportsbook & Casino on: March 16, 2023, 02:29:41 AM
This is true, there are some casinos out there which when one of their gamblers obtains a big win they try to find even the smallest detail they can to try to refuse paying the money they owe, and one way to do this is by asking way more than what is needed for a standard identity verification, with the hope the gambler fails to provide the needed documents and then they save themselves a lot of money while still protecting their reputation, as they can later claim it was the gambler the one that failed to pass all their tests and they were justified on their refusal to pay them.

In such casinos, players simply will not play. All players play at the casino only in the hope of a big win, but if they know that they will not be able to withdraw their winnings anyway, they will not play at this casino. They will go to another casino.
If only things were that simple, what you are saying makes sense but unfortunately this is not the way things work, and we have a very obvious example with the 1xbit casino, this casino is widely regarded on this forum as one in which no gambler should ever play if they want to someday get some of their money back, but people ignore our warnings or are not aware of the existence of this forum and they keep gambling there despite their negative reputation.

However, do you not reckon that in many occurences when the winner is a new account that has not yet passed all the KYC requirements, the casino should be very careful in giving a very big win without carefully checking all the details of the person? If it is an old account that has been gambling in the casino for years, there would certainly be a good argument.
