1401  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex to shut its U.S operations on: April 18, 2023, 01:58:46 AM
I am of course heavily biased since I'm a bitcoin maximalist to the core but if it were from my point of view I would ban completely any coin offering or limit it to the value of the assets the company has at the moment of the launch. You have $1000 in assets that's how much you can get in from selling shitcoin, no stuff liKe getting 4 billion in funding and ending with...EOS?
Would you cry over them not being allowed to operate in your country? I wouldn't!

This is where the problem begins and you admit this yourself. Maximalists argue from a biased view of the cryptospace and consider everything in it has no right to try new things if it is not done in bitcoin. This is not reasonable and it does not allow space for innovation. No one knows what the cryptospace will be, similar to what no one knew what the internet might be when it was invented.

In any case, a news update on the lawsuit against Bittrex. The SEC declares that Algorand, Dash, OMG Network and more in what was said to be a nonexhaustive list. This is head shaking because Bittrex risked growth of the exchange by following the rules when the SEC began issuing warnings on tokens issued as illegal securities. This is why I wish CZ will win and show decentralization works.

SEC Labels Algorand and Five Other Tokens as Securities in Bittrex Lawsuit

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) categorized six cryptocurrencies as securities in its lawsuit against crypto exchange Bittrex on Monday, highlighting them as potentially pivotal assets in an enforcement action against the Seattle-based firm.

The crux of the SEC’s complaint against Bittrex is that the platform failed to register with the watchdog as an exchange, broker-dealer, or clearing agency—a requirement for offering securities to customers in a manner regulated by the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.

~snip~
Traditional finance is a much larger casino than the cryptospace so uncle Warren does not have the right to criticize us.

He or anyone else has the right to criticize anything and anyone if we live in a democratic society where every individual has the right to express his opinion. What's wrong is that after 10 years of his criticism of Bitcoin, you or anyone else still finds such news worthy of attention.

Heheheh in an argument when you tell someone that he has no right, it really implies that he is being unreasonable or unfair hehe. It does not mean that he really has no legal right hehehehe. However, yes he can tell everyone his opinion, similar to I have a right to share any news.
1403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Chinese coins pump coming? on: April 17, 2023, 04:55:20 AM
Hello, with Hong Kong looking to lift ban on crypto in a few months June 1st 2023. Could we see huge gains coming from the next bull market from the following coins: Filecoin (FIL), VeChain (VET), Neo (NEO) and Conflux (CFX).

What are your thoughts?

I speculate Conflux and some of the projects created in this blockchain might have a pump that will be very much similar to the Shiba Inu token. I heard it is being considered as the Chinese Ethereum by some people in the cryptospace already.

There has also been an integration of 2 of Ethereum's most important DeFi protocols in Conflux.

Conflux Integrates Uniswap V3 And Curve Into China’s Market

Conflux, the first blockchain that complies with China’s stringent regulations, has proposed using CNH (offshore Chinese Yuan) stablecoin alongside Uniswap v3. Additionally, eCFX, the Ethereum mainnet currency CFX that has bridged to the blockchain, has been proposed as the blockchain’s entry into the Curve Wars.

The Uniswap community benefits from more trading opportunities involving USD and CNHC pairs when Uniswap v3 is deployed on Conflux eSpace. Also, Binance’s recent announcement that it will facilitate the mainnet integration of CFX tokens from Conflux Network will benefit the proposal.

1404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffett Blasts Bitcoin as 'Gambling Token' as BTC Surges 35% in 30 Days on: April 17, 2023, 03:17:52 AM
We're tired of encountering FUD and nonsensical comments, but even Bitcoin seems fatigued and unresponsive to such remarks. Nevertheless, Bitcoin remains in bull mode. Although Bitcoin may not hold the same significance for everyone, for us, it is a cryptocurrency that facilitates borderless transactions without the need for a third party. Hence, those with a centralized mindset may not appreciate Bitcoin. It's best to disregard them and move forward. I'm not bothered by such FUD in the least.

I reckon it might not be very nonsensical because much of the people who have gone into bitcoin are also here to speculate on the price, trading on leverage and to get rich quick. However, what we can also argue is it is very much similar to the stock market and the other markets of traditional finance. Traditional finance is a much larger casino than the cryptospace so uncle Warren does not have the right to criticize us.
1405  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Big Short movie, BTC edition? on: April 17, 2023, 02:02:11 AM
Is this part of Operation Chokepoint 2.0?

It appears that the speculation on stablecoins being deputized to be the gateways for inflows and outflows of fiat for the cryptospace might become true. A draft for a bill on stablecoin legislation has been created in United States congress.

DeFi and open finance stablecoins will become illegal, however, licensed stablecoins similar to USDC will be permitted and might also have the support of the government on liquidity.

A BILL

To provide requirements for payment stablecoin issuers, research on a digital dollar, and for other purposes.

It appears that the Washington Commanders might be sold the the group of John Harris, who is also the owner of the Philadelphia Sixers. I am not quite certain what would the effect of this on the team, however, the Sixers are presently not doing very bad under Harris' ownership.

According to some articles Harris bought the Sixers for $280 million and it is presently valued at more than $2 billion. Should Commanders fans be optimistic? I am certain Uncle Ron is quite happy heheheh.

Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder and Josh Harris, who co-owns multiple professional sports teams, have reached an agreement on a sale of the franchise to Harris' group for an NFL-record price of $6.05 billion, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Thursday, per sources.
Rapoport added that the sale is not final nor signed and no agreement has been sent to the league for approval, but a finalized sale is expected if all goes well.

1410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul Vs Nate Diaz boxing Aug 5th on Dazn PPV on: April 14, 2023, 03:51:56 AM
^ Fury was an actual boxer though. Nate Diaz is not. He’s most skilled in jiu jitsu which he will not be able to use. This is a step back for Jake, but it will be a more entertaining fight. Nate Diaz has so much scar tissue in his face he’s going to be bleeding like a stuck pig by the end of the second round. The pictures will be epic. I’m sure it’ll be the biggest payday of his life too.

Agreed. Jake Paul certainly knows how to choose his opponents hehe. Nate is a big name in MMA, he knows how box and the fight can certainly end in a technical knockout declared by the referee because of Nate's bleeding scar tissue on his eye brow. Also, has Nate been maintaining his weight before this announcement?

In any case, a shocking ending for this fight will be if Jake knocks out Nate. When was Nate knocked out in MMA? This was 2013 long ago hehehehe.
1411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffett Blasts Bitcoin as 'Gambling Token' as BTC Surges 35% in 30 Days on: April 14, 2023, 02:00:32 AM
Who the fuck cares what Warren Buffet has to say about Bitcoin anyway? And its not like he is saying this for the first time so that we should be surprised.

I am sorry if this is annoying, however, it was news that I wanted to share to show the hypocrisy of a person that many people consider a role model. Read the argument about the news.

In some occasions he might be a good person but to open his mouth again when bitcoin has begun pumping is very head shaking. He is like a friend who tells his other friends not to do something because he does not want to do it.

1413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - June 17 on: April 13, 2023, 05:40:32 AM
And now we can't even say that this rumored fight will happen or not or are they buying again another time, we just don't know for a fact.

The report of this rumored fight now became hyped as it's really going to happen.

But again, sh*t happened and we should not expect this fight to happen at 100% not unless an official announcement will be made.

Save the date, April 22, that's the ETA for the official announcement of this fight.

I have read some articles mentioning that Tank Davis fired Floyd Mayweather as his promoter, however, other articles mention he still is Tank's promoter. Similar to Terence Crawford, there are rumors that imply Mayweather is promoting him for a fight against Spence. I speculate that if Mayweather is really the promoter of Crawford and Tank, I reckon there will certainly be an announcement on April 22. However if not, this might only be another marketing trick for us to watch Tank vs. King Ry hehehhehee.
1414  Economy / Speculation / Re: Countertrading Jim Cramer on Bitcoin on: April 13, 2023, 04:08:35 AM
According to sources, bitcoin is up more than 40% after Jim Cramer declared that he would sell his bitcoin last month. Countertrading Jim Cramer is working hehehehe.

My only wish is he does not declare that he has bought bitcoin until price is on $50k.

Uncle Warren is angry again.

What would be the difference between trading in tradfi and trading in the cryptospace? Nothing except in the cryptospace, small minnows similar to you and me can trade using smaller position sizes and still profit handsomely because the volatility is much higher. On the argument of gambling, I reckon tradfi with futures and options trading is the biggest casino in the world.

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett doubled down on his Bitcoin criticism today, once again suggesting that the asset is nothing more than a get-rich-quick scheme.

In a Wednesday interview with CNBC, the Berkshire Hathaway boss said he didn’t blame people for wanting to get involved in what looks like “easy money.”

And today he continued his critique. “Something like Bitcoin, it’s a gambling token,” he said on CNBC’s Squawk Box. “The urge to participate in something where it looks like easy money is a human instinct which has been unleashed and has always been there.”

He continued: “It’s so human. People love the idea of getting rich quick—I don’t blame them,” before adding that Bitcoin doesn’t have any value but people still want to “play the roulette wheel” by investing in it.

1416  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: April 13, 2023, 02:30:48 AM
CZ did not dump FTT to start a bank run.
I'm not saying he did. But publicly tweeting as he did undoubtedly started the bank run which very quickly led to FTX suspending all withdrawals.

I do not know why there are people taking a side with the regulators.
I wouldn't say people are taking a side with regulators, rather that people simply do not care what happens to Binance. If regulations force Binance out of business, I don't think bitcoin will be any worse off for it.

The bank run on FTX would be occured with or without CZ's actions. We would talking about Justin Sun if he started the bank run. Sam should be blamed.

I do not know why there are people taking a side with the regulators.
Just because regulators are turning a blind eye on many things banks are doing wrong, doesn't mean that we should do the same with Binance or any of the other top exchanges or that we are taking regulators side.

I am Binance user from the late 2017 and since I created an account there I haven't had any issues whatsoever (nor did anyone I know) but I still think that they are doing many things wrong: from anti-Bitcoin stance and creating highly centralized BSC to being incorporated in a shady location that doesn't protects its users and saying that for an average user storing their crypto at exchange is the way to go.

Remember how in Japan FTX had to secure the funds so in case something happens to them people will get their money back? Imagine if Cayman Islands forced FTX to do the same thing. But of course, they registered their company there necause something like that will never be asked from them at those type of locations so they can do whatever they want there.

I was only making an argument on how can we trust the regulators' intentions. It is okay for regulators to turn a blind eye on the corrpution and the regulatory evasion of big banks, however, for Binance it is not okay?

Also, Binance as a CEX is trying to use and work with the decentralization of crypto. Decentralization would certainly be useless if they do not use the advantages it gives them. This will be very head scratching for the regulators and I would certainly want to see CZ win the fight hehehe.
1417  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best Exchanges without KYC? on: April 12, 2023, 03:28:06 AM
I've also used them before but, why don't you just use a VPN and access them? But compared to the other instant exchanges, based on my experience the fees that they've got is higher than the others.

Yes. Sideshift.ai is very expensive compared to other alternatives such as FixedFloat and CoinPlaza. It would be an option of a last resort, when all else fails. Despite the fact that instant exchanges are convenient (no KYC), they can easily be shut down by the government due to their centralized nature. That's where atomic swaps come in.

There's an app called AtomicDEX that uses atomic swaps technology for trustless crypto trades. If we had a variety of alternatives, crypto would be truly unstoppable. The only downside is that you cannot buy/sell crypto with Fiat using this innovative tech. Thus, P2P would be the only on/off ramp to/from the crypto/Fiat worlds without the need for KYC. Regulations are getting fierce each day, so only time will tell us the fate of no-KYC exchanges as alternative for those seeking true privacy and anonymity. Just my thoughts Grin

Use DeFi for trading. However, for off ramps and if you have already have made much money in the cryptospace that you would like to convert to the real world, I reckon it would be very difficult to do it without KYC. So it might be a good time to begin developing a system for off ramping to the real world with KYC. For us small minnows it would not be a big problem without it hehe.
1418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: April 12, 2023, 02:57:19 AM

And it's according to one thread, in this fight, someone will make it official about the Errol Spence vs Bud Crawford fight. So we will see if it is going to happen because that is one of the most anticipated much as well. Just like this fight, two boxers in their prime and both are champions.

They will be making a huge announcement using this fight as many people will be watching. Hopefully, they will announce the undisputed fight between two undefeated champions that we have been waiting for. If they seal that fight, there will be no more speculation that either one of them is trying to evade it.

The boxing industry is getting bored right now, as it feels invaded by this popular YouTuber that want to get in to the pro scene. These (Davis vs Garcia & Spence & Crawford) are the fights that fans really want to watch.

I agree, it was taken by the Paul Brothers and making millions in their exhibition fights. And this should be a challenge for boxing, promoters, networks affiliations and boxers themselves to bring back the glory and make the right fights and not allow politics and corruption to take over in the industry.

So hopefully by April 22, we will now that Errol Spence vs Bud Crawford is officially on the calendar of fights for this year.

We still have Haney and Loma, but we wanted to see more great fights and hoping that everyone involved can deliver it like the Ryan Garcia vs Tank Davis fight.

Is Errol Spence vs. Terence Crawford confirmed for June already? In any case,  you forgot to mention Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue hehe. It will certainly be a fight that might change the super bantamweight division if Inoue gets the WBC and WBO championships.
As of now, that specific bout is not yet sure if it will really materialize even if they will announce it in the Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis fight while the Inoue vs Fulton has been delayed because the Japanese former undisputed champion at 118 was injured recently which resulted into a delay but now they got a new schedule.

Quote
Also, did everyone watch how Israel Adesanya knockout Alex Pereira? Izzy pretended to be hurt and caused Pereira to begin to punch and kick which caused him to be open for Adesanya's very quick counter panch. I reckon King Ry can use the same tactic to trick Tank hehe.

That was a sweet revenge and Adesanya surely prepared well to execute and finish Pereira in a much shorter time. But I'm not sure what you mean that Garcia can use a tactic like that because somehow boxing is quite different compared to the UFC.

However, it was Izzy who copied a tactic from boxing called the rope a dope. It was used first by Muhammad Ali when he was fighting George Foreman who was a powerful knockout artist very much similar to Izzy's opponent Alex Pereira.

In any case, okay Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence is only an extended April Fool's joke hehehe. I will wait for April 22.
1419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: April 12, 2023, 01:31:13 AM
I am also missing football heavily. Can we also have a fantasy baseball league for the next season after the NFL season with a lower fee? This might make waiting for football season much shorter heehhe.

Dang, I think you might be on to something here. We'd have to make a separate thread of course. But I'd be down. We just need to find a platform that will allow us to do an in-season draft as most teams have already played 9 or 10 games. I see there is a Sportsbet-sponsored MLB thread but not many other baseball-related threads outside of that. I'm gonna look into it.

Correct if I am wrong, I remember that @wheelz or @Direwolf created a thread for MLB before. It might be better if we can use it and keep everything within the people who are participating in the league.

Also, I would prefer if we start our MLB league before the 2024 regular season where we can also do the draft from the very beginning.

@nutildah. They also have many choices for special bets for both the big screen and television. I reckon the most entertaining offering presently is if the domestic opening weekend for The Guardians of the Galaxy in America will be over $136.5 million or not hehehe.

https://coinplay.com/line/tv-games/1033765-special-bets-cinema/166848531-guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-3-opening-weekend-box-office

I have bet on under on Creed 3 and John Wick 4 because I speculate that the regular movie goers might not be very enthusiastic about spending money to go to the movies because of the higher costs of living caused by inflation. I lost in both of these bets. It appears that I might have underestimated the need for people to escape from reality heheheheh.
