2041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: U.S. bank closing all of my deposit accounts because of bitcoins on: July 16, 2013, 03:08:19 PM
Drugs have become legal/legitimate? I know weed in some states has but it'll never happen for ecstasy, heroin, cocaine, etc.

Yes it will...all drugs are legal in a couple of countries. I think Portugal in one. If we don't go extinct from climate change or nuclear annihilation or some killer virus, then eventually most countries will make all drugs legal.

BS. "All drugs are legal" NOWHERE. In most of european countries (including Spain, Italy and obviously PORTUGAL) possession of any drug for personal use is decriminalized, meaning that if you get caught smoking a joint, or doing cocaine/heroine whatever, you can NEVER go to jail unless they can prove that your are a drug dealer - if you are not and only have "personal use" quantities, you just get a fine, an administrative sanction that is just like a speeding ticket.

Even more, even if you have very big quantities (a couple of kilos of Marihuana, dozens of grams of cocaine), if you can a) prove that you are an addict and that those quantities are for you and only for you (for example for a whole year) and b) the prosecutors cannot prove that you are a dealer (for example because you can justify all the money you have from a legit job, plus you do not have any trafficking related gadgets like scales, etc.), then you will be free as a bird regardless of the quantity they catch you with.

But this is very different from "all drugs are legal". You still cannot legally sell any drugs nowhere, apart from a very few and notable exceptions regarding cannabis (and sometimes minor drugs like shrooms) in The Netherlands (but its just because they do not enforce the law, not because its explicitly legal(), North Korea, Pakistan and some States of the US.

You see, "legalizing all the drugs" (legalizing meaning that you are able to freely buy and sell them) is not happening anytime soon, there is too much powerful people living directly (trafficking) and indirectly (Government agencies like DEA, drug police, etc.) from drugs being a "black market" thing, and thus something that is sold with a huge premium and without paying any tax. The 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs is still being enforced, and nations that try to do otherwise are always reminded by the US that there is a 1961 treaty that needs to be respected or there will be very serious consecuences. This is why The Netherlands never "legalized" Marijuana, even tough they don't enforce its illegality in coffee shops.

Sorry for the off-topic, but the "all drugs are legal in Portugal" its so wrong I couldn't help myself...

EDIT: maybe a mod should move these three posts (mine and the two I'm replying to) to a different thread as this is 100% off-topic.

peanuts...

If the invested funds was taken from BTC savings they want BTC back, not FIAT.

I would have to agree with this.  +1

yep, so for those people, the selling (via asic manufacturer) of the BTC has already ocurred. Next up: mining like hell without selling.

I'm not sure however, how large that group is compared to the group that wants to recover fiat.

Yep, it's true, I've been a "100% BTC" miner myself, but I'm seeing a shift in the sentiment with the ASICs. I see people wanting to recover their fiat, and only then hoarding.

2045  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 16, 2013, 11:21:00 AM
My wife cut me off now after I spent $1,400 on domain names nobody cares about and $4,000 on BFL rigs I haven't seen even one yet, paying to launch a coin I got shit on for, spending with no joke 12-16 hours per day on here instead of with my wife and kids and blowing though our savings on a theory that the govt is gonna push alt coins through the stratosphere. That argument worked wonders the first 2 months while now I now have to sell my 93 ford F150 with a new dealer install engine which cost $4,000 and new $1,000 tires ( I have receipts for it all, but I shouldn't have to sell a classic for alt coin tneories).  Chasis has 154,000 miles, its a true classic with the new engine and new tires maybe 10,000 miles.  I don't want to sell it but I've got little small ticket items to part with.

That truck is a steal at $5,000.  I couldn't find even 1 with a new engine in the whole US.  I love that truck but I believe in the future of this alt coin so much that I can't sit and stay and watch anymore.  I can't do it.  I wish I were a woman cause I may be tempted to sell like massages - you know, nothing dirty, just the queen of tease.  I know it's wrong but I believe in this that much.

This clearly shows that for reasons unknown, your education and your wonderful talent of an economist don’t really bring any positive results. Maybe you should give up all ideas of get rich quick schemes and find a decent job?

Investing for the long run is a get rich quick scheme to you, eh?  Maybe you too Need a dictionary.

And many millionaires and billionaires sold off everything they had or mortgaged their house when a lifetime opportunity showed up.  The different between me and you is I'm not afraid of risk.

That doesn't mean I'll succeed but I definitely have a risk quality you obviously not only lack but don't  even realize is a fatal investment flaw.

Seriously, Vlad: crypto is not a get-rich-quick scheme. And you want to be rich in 2-3 years, that's getting-rich-quick.... And that's pitiful, mate.

This is a nice hobby with a huge potential. But do not gamble your life on it. DO NOT DO IT. It has such a big potential precisely because its risky as fuck. Think about your family and spend those 12-16 hours looking for a decent job, look at this as a GAMBLE, not a job - otherwise you may find yourself in a world of pain.

Can you please enlighten us about the amazingly unique and innovative features you wanted to implement on your unique and innovative scrypt coin?

Have not you heard about Vlad’s Golden Blocks which are ultimately unique and different from superblocks because they have “Vlad” in their name?

Vlad, let us know, what are the unique features?

Plus, you should check the source code of "your coin" - it clearly says oi the comments (which are plain english, not "programming code") that the premined quantity is 0.5%.

Great... First thing I need is someone to discourage an enterprising little miner...

I'm not discouraging, I'm telling you the cold hard truth. Mining is only marginally profitable, and for that you have to run your miner 24/7. Running it only 4 hours a day is a complete waste, for the fiat you will spend in the miner you can buy in the market much more coins than your miner will ever generate.

Its a friendly advice.
2049  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: July 16, 2013, 10:39:22 AM
Yes, I guess I should quote about the traps (just check the dates, all these quotes are from the massive dip to $66 before the last trap, which started on July 6th):

Now, BTC is following a consistent downwards trend since April, 10th, full of bull traps and sucker rallies, but a consistent downwards trend nevertheless.

Now everybody is aware that BTC already survived a massive bubble deflation, so there are not so many "Bitcoin is a scam" believers. That and the bigger USD volume thrown at BTC during this bubble will make perma-bulls to live in a longer denial, thus lengthening their own suffering.

Still a couple of epic traps to go before despair and capitulation. I still don't think that the bear will last for multiple years as Birght Anarchist says, for sure many months to come, but 2/3 years seems a bit too much for BTC standards. Anyhow, BrightAnarchist got it right so far, let's grab some popcorn and see how this plays out.

Quickly wiring in some money so I can buy at the bottom.

Still way to go before the very bottom. Summer is still at the beginning. There will be bounces, traps can be long... Until another dump cycle begins.

Lots of dumps too, that last one was expensive though. Doubt they can afford to push it much lower without some big buys.

Bull traps are expected but bounces has been quite smallish during the crash from the $90s. I guess the big one will arrive soon... But nevertheless fear is taking over.

And the bounce finally arrived, the day after (July, 6th) - and that's why I bought at $68 to play that bounce. FYI: I already sold. Did you? Wink
2050  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: July 16, 2013, 10:31:42 AM
ATM everything is proceeding as expected.

Big bounce from the 200 day EMA, and then a longish period of "wait and see" (I said that as long as two weeks of sideways trading was expected, just as we had before the fast crash to $66).

Fiat in the order book increasing, coins decreasing. An important milestone will be the shipping of ASIC miners en mass. ATM they are just a few, and they still enjoy good profits. No need to dump all the coins on the market. That will change soon.

any advice for a bull turned bear looking on in horror as the train left him at 66?

Haha you must be new here. Everything went as expected, apart from everything that went wrong ofcourse.
Did you miss the part where he turned out to be the biggest clown of this part of the forum?
Letting monkeys throw darts will give you a better chance of success than listening to this delusional joker.

He really must be totally delusional beyond help as he's posting here how everything is going according to plan while he turned out to be a complete failure just a few days ago.
Sad really.

Sweet little Shroomsy, should I quote you the many posts in which I said that huge bounces are expected? You know that I bought at $68, do you?

2051  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Radical Feminism (continued from Capitalism) on: July 16, 2013, 10:29:20 AM
A self moderated topic in politics and society. This thread is going places.

This.

What did Kropotkin say about women and feminism, Rampion?

Hehehe, I missed that question...

Kropotkin specifically didn't wrote about women and feminism AFAIK, but very generally the first anarchists shared the marxist view on females. Marxist basically thought that female subordination was definitely not a result of some kind of biological bias, but a fruit of patriarchal social relations in which men consider women as their private property, and they basically said that "owning the females" was a way to preserve exclusive access to certain social classes. And that's why chastity and fidelity are rewarded, etc.

More specifically, anarchists are against any type of hierarchical relationship (and this is why they are AGAINST capitalism, something many US folks don't understand because they are poisoned by the joke interpretation of anarchism by Rothbard), so strong female characters & feminist movements developed in anarchist society (they did in the only medium sized and mid term experiment, Aragón in Spain between 1930 and 1938). Eliminating patriarchal dominance was a very important goal in the fight against the state. As a small example, you US folks may be familiar with Emma Goldman, which pretty much sums up the anarchist feminism: they supported free love, they were anti-marriage, they hated puritanism and "female morality", and they considered themselves totally equal to men: thus they were hard workers, obviously they didn't expect any man to "provide", and they were in the front lines of the anarchy army during the spanish anarchist revolution.

I would add that for both anarchists and communists "feminism" was a bourgeois concept, and they obviously hated the "suffragism" that was defended by liberal feminists.

Alexandra Kollontai said in the early 1900's: "For what reason, then, should the woman worker seek a union with the bourgeois feminists? Who, in actual fact, would stand to gain in the event of such an alliance? Certainly not the woman worker"

This is an interesting point I've been wondering about lately. I also believe they mentioned this on "Let's Talk Bitcoin" in the last week. What is going to happen with so many new mining rigs getting out there? The GPU miners will all off, almost there now.

I do wonder though, how many of these miners are just going to sit on their mined coins. The thing is, if many expect a downward movement in the price, then why not sell some while you can???
And what about all those coins already mined? Hmmmmm

Personally, I would probably sit on the coins, unless I was desperate for cash. Something about "owning" coins I've mined.

I'm a miner myself, and people in here doesn't not understand what a deep change in the game are ASICs. With GPUs, you could buy a $500 set-up and mine to hoard, as the investment was negligible and you could always sell your GPUs to gamers, "recouping your costs" was no big deal and no priority, it was a hobbyist occupation for 95% of the miners.

Now, the only purpose of those $2k, $4k, $7k ASIC rigs is to mine Bitcoin, and maaaany people didn't throw at those machines only "play money". Professional operations with the only purpose of generating PROFIT are being build up. Yes, many are still Bitcoin believers so they will hoard, but after they paid for their costs. And their aggregate costs are huge. BFL has millions of $ in preorders not shipped yet. KnC has millions of $ in preorders, there are millions of $ in Avalon chips, Bitfury machines and whatnot...

Now the very few ASIC miners (mostly Avalon miners, they are just a few hundred individuals) have enjoyed very healthy profits. They paid for their machines in a few days, with a few coins. But the profitability is declining VERY HARD, so more coins will have to be sold by the miners to recoup their hardware costs, which are denominated in FIAT.

Many seem to hide their heads in the ground, but the hard fact is that 10s of millions of $ have been invested in machines which only use is to mine BTC, and those 10s of millions of $ in mining rigs are a cost that miners are willing to recoup ASAP.

Some in here say "well, the BTC/USD will be higher, and miners will have to sell less coins to recover their costs". That's a logical fallacy, because the higher is going to be the BTC/USD, the more people will invest in mining hardware, making the amount of generated coins more distributed and in fewer quantity per individual miner/operation, thus the 3,600BTC generated per day will be probably dumped almost immediately, at least during the next few months, until the mining gold-rush is over and stabilizes, and the miners that are entering the ASIC game pay for their investment.

What.the.fuck.

Sorry jackjack, Vlad2Vlad thinks we are all dumb because we bought our Bitcoins sub-$10 but somehow we are so dumb the we dumped them at $15 for "a few k's"

For him is very clear, because that's what he will do Cheesy

2056  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 16, 2013, 08:25:05 AM
I think they'll orchestrate a massive, the biggest crash ever on September 14, 2015, trip on this, I only saw this after I calculated this date:  9/1415, add up the last 4 digits.  Shivers!  I had no idea until I chose that date on numerous historic and economic factors..  I know I'll get my phones bugged for this, but my parents risked their lives to tell the truth so I wanna stay true to that and if any of this comes to pass and if only a few of you benefit from it then it was well worth it.

So now when I talk about alt coins you all have an idea where I'm coming from and most of the above is pure facts with very little opinion - deny it if you want but I like to face facts head on.  You're all welcome for this lesson which if you see the big picture can help you make millions in a year, instead of a paltry $100K.  Do your own research but everything I've written is facts.  It's off the top of my head so if I'm off on a date or two, forgive me. And I'm telling you guys this to help you make more money, it helps me none cause it's better for me to have you guys mock me and dump all your coins thinking $3K is a sweet deal.  But I feel bad, like stealing from kids so at least now you know so if you pump and dump then it's all good.

Good luck everyone and God bless!

We need to ask rpietila's to share his meds with this guy.

There's SO MUCH FAIL in this thread

Failed and broken economist has wet dreams of earning 100s of millions by creating ASAP a Litecoin scam clone, but he says he is not in the get-quick-rich thing because this is "a 2-3 years" project, LOL

Instead of learning basic programming he pays a ridiculous amount to a random guy on the interwebz to launch a scamcoin he wants to heavily premine, but he is so stupid he doesn't even learn how to mine himself before the launching. How about that? Cheesy

He even offers $20 for somebody to set up a pool, and he wants to keep 50% of the proceedings, LOL

Then he blames the community for not understanding his broken and failed genius, ranting about how everybody in here "will miss the train" and will sell all his coins for $50k or $100k... The guy is so dumb that he doesn't even realize how ridiculous he sounds and how utterly mistaken he is.

What's next, CeauşescuCoin?
2058  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 16, 2013, 12:56:49 AM
The guy is a financist. He probably heard somewhere that “the masses are coming to alt coins soon” and decided that he can get ahead of the train by creating a scamcoin as soon as possible. He started to look for original ideas but could not come with anything better than “a miner’s coin”, then he even did not want to use his brain to think for a while and made a flawed design due to misundertstanding of probability, how do you like that? And lastly, he found some “programmer” who decided to cheat on the noob and did not bother to write the code well. Haste makes waste, so they say.

Amazingly spot on TL;DR
2059  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Batch #3 & More on: July 16, 2013, 12:08:25 AM
Kudos to you Coinhoarder, you did an excellent job for the community and this situation is totally undeserved.

Delays are to be expected, but not when the pricing is based on prediction made according to a delivery date that was delayed by 3 months.

As usual with these damn ASICs, all the risk is on the customers shoulders. In defense of Avalon they are at least offering full refunds (not honored yet), which is not the most desiderable option but at least is acceptable.
2060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 15, 2013, 11:59:16 PM
This coin and its execution is a perfect sublimation of the profound stupidity in all this get-rich-quick scamcoin fever.

There is beauty in learning to understand the code while tweaking it, but what's the point in paying someone to release ASAP a useless clone without even understanding how it works?

All this "I missed the BTC early adopters train and now I'm so butthurt" syndrome is so pathetic...
