You guys gave 2,500+ BTC to someone who refuses to idenficate themselves to a third-party? Jesus, this community never learns... Sorry to say... before I can invest I need to make sure this isn't a scam. And there is a big red sign on this. Bytheway the "this goes up X and X per minute" is another one. "Hurry up, don't miss the train!" Ugh. I get a feeling market gonna lose more BTC after this  jl777 has been in the NXT community since very early on, and is a key contributor to the MGW(Multigateway) and other various projects. I've been here since the early beginning of NXT (December 2013 under Wakasaki808 before account was stolen) and have witnessed this firsthand. How can BBR have such a low market cap? With all the features and work thats been done BBR is so insanely cheap.
This is being fixed with some marketing and also working with XMR to boost all cryptonotes. All the cryptonotes are significantly undervalued. HODL CLOAK and Halcyon are undervalued too... |

Despite several attempts to convince James the importance of revealing his identity, we were ultimately unable to reach an agreement that satisfied both parties. In a commercial exchange, the party that delivers first has the right to know the identity and past history of the other party. If someone asks you to pay upfront but refuses to identify himself, you should assume he is a scammer, and not have any business with him. To be fair, James understands this and has contacted reputable, public, community members as regards escrowing the whole thing. Will you buy? |

We need to raise the level (bar? not sure for the term) here guys, else no one will take us seriously...
(I also own XMR but my help is not needed that much if at all there because very competent and serious people are actively involved).
Now can we discuss on how to develop some nice ecosystem around BBR?
I wish they would listen to you. Today's posts are paranoid and obsessive. I have this thread bookmarked so I can follow BBRs progress. Today I have read 3 pages of posts so far and all of them but 3 or 4 are people discussing some sort of hare brained conspiracy with "whales and snake oil salesmen" involving XMR and the poloniex trollbox. I have been included amongst the snake oil salesmen. lol. I have been teetering on the edge of the strategy of holding equal numbers of XMR and BBR and have as of today reduced my overall stake in BBR back to a smaller hedge level. Where last night it was equal to my XMR stake. This is not entirely because of the insane trolling but it HAS had a part to play. I still own BBR and will still try to follow it, but frankly the signal to noise ratio here is overwhelming. It's "raise the bar" by the way. But "raise the level" works too. Either would work to elevate the conversation here. Most people are here ONLY for the pump from Supernet. I found BBR early but did not invest - James draw my attention to this again (kudos to him) and I decided that is one of the coins I want to INVEST (not only trade). Simcoin, XMR, BBR and of course BTC. I tend to invest in coins where there is 1 genius dev only behind (NXT 'seemed' to be so, SIM is, BBR is, BTC was, XMR is an exception) so basically I am here for Zoidberg. But that may not be enough in itself, we will see... |

(BBR) was drifting down around .00015 for a looooong time. All of a sudden, starting last week (August 28th), volume on Polo is wayyyyyy up and the price is up to .001.
What caused this?

My take: Risk is poison. BBR is controlled by a lone anonymous actor, possibly Andrey Sabelnikov, probably a member of the team that produced the bytecoin scam. In contrast, the XMR team includes several well-known persons, some of whom identify by legal names openly. BBR just has a lot more risk baked in. The market priced the caps at a 32:1 ratio as a result (and ended up oversold due to momentum). This made hedging XMR with BBR cheap. That, and CZ's well-deserved reputation for development, kept attention on BBR. (Also the bytecoin gang's sockpuppet theatre raging against XMR kept using it as a foil, which drew attention.) SuperNET was all it needed to pump. Regardless of James' intentions he certainly seems to be surrounded by a cloud of PnDers. Now the hedge is no longer attractive, and only momentum and the pump keep price flying here. I won't comment on how to short SuperNET. Look at its components. I have a lot of skepticism of SuperNET myself, but it's based on circumstantial factors rather than substantive ones. I find it difficult to locate the substance. Something about the copy always makes my mind rebel if I try to read it. It's like trying to look into your foveal blind spot. I probably have too much training in "legacy" finance to understand it properly. I'm too old, and I'll die soon, so that innovators can sail smoothly over the rainbow to crypto-valhalla without my trollish philistinism to harsh their mellow. To short BBR, you need to find someone who will loan it to you. The interest rate will probably be exhorbitant. When I shorted I did fairly well but paid out a large chunk as interest. My short performance was degrading rapidly at the end, which means I was taking increasing risk, so I lost interest. Also I think I was making volatility worse, rather than better, at the end, which is bad for BBR, so I knew it was time to stop. Good mean-reversion strategy performance should result in lower volatility in the underlying. If it is doing the opposite, you're doing it wrong - or you're trading momentum. I may do again, but not until I have more clarity on the fundamental and technical situation in BBR - which may never happen since it is just not very interesting to me. I want to buy future reserve currency, stack it high, and hold it long. Anything else is just a distraction. I think it's worth pointing out at least that 1) Sabelnikov was never found guilty of any wrong doing and Microsoft agreed that it was not him who ran the botnet. 2) Even if CZ was part of the original CryptoNote team, there's no indication that he was involved with Bytecoin at all. Not only that, but if he was involved with CryptoNote, the act of creating BBR(with the new PoW) alone by himself would be strong statement that he disagreed with what Bytecoin did and wanted no part in any sort of scam. Personally, I don't think it's likely CZ is a bad actor. Whoever he is. At worst it appears he could be a famous hacker responsible for writing some code that other people used in a malicious way(the botnet). I'm not going to defend that if that happened. But we don't know anything about that what happened in that situation and there's a whole range of possibilities, including being coerced in to writing code. We will likely never have sufficient information to make any sort of judgment either way. So there is some risk with an anonymous developer, that is a constant. On the other hand with BBR you also seem to get someone who is an expert at dealing with what is becoming apparent is a very shaky code base. So there is some trade off there. I'm not making the argument that BBR is less risky with a single developer than XMR is with 7 or 8. But I do hope that anyone considering the situation will at least take the time to make a fair evaluation of CZ on what he's done so far. Sometimes more is worse... |

It has even been mentioned that BBR should increase in price as a result from an attack towards XMR code (which BBR itself also uses). This proposal is ridiculous, because either it has the same vulnerability and the attack was just directed to the more prominent coin, or BBR will suffer the same attack soon or be already suffering it without even noticing, OR that BBR insider(s) are behind the attack.

You left out that the probability that changes in BBR's code already made it not vulnerable to the attack. 1. I take back all statements that may be understood as "attacking" BBR or its dev. 2. I am just so used to the "follow the money" detective work, where I have concluded that the only possible source for the attack on XMR is the (B)CN scamdevs. It's like 9/11 - only people high in the U.S. government has both the motive and the means, so since we know it happened, it must have been happened under their direction. It was not my intention to attack the public layer of BBR, that would have been childish. 3. If BBR has indeed been patched auspiciously just before the attack, + done a million other good and useful things, despite having only one dev instead of 7 as monero does, without any malice I just want to say to the higher honchos in (B)CN scamteam: "If XMR wins despite all your effort in having a crippled code that you "skillfully repair" in your scamforks, U must be serially mad, bro !! " I suspect more people from the BTC community - there is a long history of attacks to alts and they have more to lose from XMR than the gains other CN coins will have. There isn't any hostility between XMR and BBR. Risto was simply saying that BBR (or any other cryptonote) could be just as vulnerable as they all came from the same codebase. Im embarrased right now to own a lot of Monero. The Monero fanbois are such douchbags right now when it comes to BBR. Oh, yeah, BBR MUST have the same vunerabilities. Dudes need to worry about their own house and stop talking about BBR.
Anyone who talks about Monero "fanbois" being negative toward BBR is spreading FUD and fueling a fire that largely doesn't exist. CZ and XMR devs communicate regularly. Quit attacking strawmen.
