so, i've been wondering something this thread brought up in my mind. armory is, or is not, a full client implementation? i don't run it, so i could be asking as dumb question.

just tried to transfer 32.6775 USD (gox code) from bitinstant to my paypal. bitinstant site says order completed, but i see no money in my paypal. having a minor freak out. yea, i know, it's not much money, but i'd REALLY like to know where it is.
order ID: e244cbbc-28f5-4374-97b9-b06de6e4cfa6

But I don't see why there is the need for hostility. Because you're being disingenuous. Despite having this pointed out multiple times in countless threads you are still propagating falsehoods. "Bitcoin can not scale to high transaction rates on affordable hardware" is false. "Bitcoin requires improvements to the way it stores and broadcasts blocks in order to scale to high transaction rates on affordable hardware" is true. And in what way should that be possible? Please give concrete suggestions. edit: I've logged just 7 hours so far reading this forum so it's likely I haven't seen the posts in which it is explained how you can make Bitcoin scale to 1000+ transactions/s, so please be a bit patient with me if I don't know the suggested ideas already. the simplest explanation i am aware of is two fold: one, altering the blocksize limit so allow more then 7 transactions a second at maximum. whether this is done, how it is done, when it is done, is a major discussion point. of course, in addition to allowing more transactions, we need a way to handle the ever increasing size of the blockchain. this is where pruning comes in. i'm not totally familiar with the technical aspects of it, but it basically boils down to not needing to keep of record of transactions that have been entirely spent in the past. if/when implemented, this will dramatically reduce the size of the stored blockchain. combined with "light" clients that don't store it, like web wallets and such, that should resolve this particular issue.

In the grand scheme of things this run from the teens to ~$90 will appear very short lived and ridiculously bubble-ish. Years from now at the bottom of the coming correction we'll all recognize how absurd it is that BTC traded at this level.
How do you not hate yourself for having such bad judgement? I think I figured out how the proudhon-effect works (I'm not sure he's aware, but probably is): Look how many extremely bullish and wise replies this one measly comment generated. 1 measly bear-comment (by proudhon, no less) == 5-10 insightful bull comments. And of course, insightful bull comments result in immediate buying pressure and hence higher price. I have suspected for a long while he holds well over 10,000 BTC. sigh... someday i'll get in that club... might help if i stop spending em though. heh.

i was just about to point out that, having recently bought a prepaid giftcard (generic visa) at walmart valued at $50, i had to pay about 54 for it. so the stores charging more then the value of the card is EXACTLY what happens, frequently. i assume this is partly justified by "gift" card. as in, i'm buying this $50 visa card as a gift for someone else, and the fee to GET the card is 4 bucks, or what have you.

Well, I'm not after anything. I'm just stating my opinion as a potential customer of (your) product. There's still the time lag between when you buy the gift card and when you receive the code,
This is irrelevant. I can buy a git card and hold it for a while. But when I want to redeem it, I want to know the exchange rate. Don't we all? Nobody said "it has to be fixed rate", but MtGox rate + 10 % must be stated on the site, so I (or any buyer) can see it. And then you can write: *due to lag, exchange rate could be slighty different Furthermore, after buyer clicks Redeem, the website can check latest price at MtGox and Alert: You are about to exchange 100$ for 0.91217 BTC. Proceed? Yes/No This should not present any technical problem... ...then you might want to look elsewhere...
Last but not least, if you continue with that attitude I asure you that I'm not the only one who will "look elsewhere"... oh, FRGA, SgtSpike isn't the guy selling the gift cards. as such, why does his attitude have any bearing on the product at hand?

i actually have the equipment to do small scale metal etching. i'd offer the making of cold storage wallets, but to etch the private keys i'd have to see them. never really figured out a way around that i was comfortable with. any ideas? i'd been recommended AES encryption for it, but i haven't had the chance to look into that.

Well, I started selling before the update... not sure anymore what to do Sell SOME i'd be happy to take em off your hands. you know. as a favor. (i'm such a loser... )

Steganographically encoding the private keys into a picture, then just posting it online on several places so it can never be lost. Might even chose it as your avatar . copy /b dos command makes this incredibly easy. lets ya comebine one file with another. which is accessed depends on the file extension. i use this to bakcup my wallet. no, it's not in my avatar. and no, the file extension of the wallet isn't simply .dat. it's in another container file. good luck finding it! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copy_(command)

gonna make my own ... object of some kind... a coin or statue or something. with "artistic" inscriptions of rune like things or such, which will be my own encoding of the public and private keys in an alphabet i've yet to make up.
or i might just make said statue partially hollow and pull a piece of paper with the info on it in there.
