2062  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What will Oil Prices do to the Economy? on: January 28, 2015, 05:05:56 AM
Yeah, only Keynesians would bitch about falling oil prices, they probably have stock in oil companies which is why they're so terrified, I really don't know of any normal person that would go "Oh great! Something I buy on a daily basis has gone up several times in value which means I now have to work twice as hard to earn more money for the same amount!" these people live in delusion.

I hope more and more governments abandon the U.S dollar and ignore any deals the U.S government attempts to make with them.
2063  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Get Ready for US Troops on the Ground in Syria and Iraq on: January 28, 2015, 04:37:50 AM
The Kurds have been taking ground from ISIS ever since the U.S gave them air support and ammunition, they were the ones responsible for the pushback in Kobane at the Turkish border. The problem for the US is, the peshmerga and their allies the PKK ( Who follow an odd brand of Libertarian Socialism or Marxism, they seem to be moderating their politics to fit in now ) have close ties and they fight for a truly independent Kurdistan so that means the US wouldn't be able to control them as they do Assad and the Iraq government.

I doubt purely because of political reasons the Kurds will ever get any real support from the US which is a joke because they are one of the most tolerant and even minded people in that region and the tribes respect them for it which is why they have so little war in their regions.

It should also be noted, in the south, the Kurds have control of the oil fields.
2064  Other / Off-topic / Re: Investing in Property in Florida.. need help/advice on: January 28, 2015, 04:26:37 AM
Do not invest in property, especially in the U.S, the housing market is currently being re-inflated like crazy and I am expecting another crash this year especially in regards to the NASDAQ and S&P, if you want to invest in something real you'd honestly be better off buying gold or silver while it's cheap or sticking with Bitcoin if you don't like precious metals much.

Just stay away from the housing market and stock markets for your own good unless you really know what you're doing, you could maybe invest in Canada perhaps or something which would be less affected by a crash but everyone is going to get hit to some degree by all the inflation.

Note: I'd like to point out I'm from the UK as well which has one of the biggest housing bubbles you'll ever see ( Check out London housing prices ) so trust me when I say houses are stupidly overpriced right now, people are using them as investments when they shouldn't be, they're designed to be lived in, not as a store of value.
2065  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NSA Spying Has Strong Approval From Young People on: January 28, 2015, 03:59:02 AM
Oh wow, that's worse than I thought, only 1,504? Even fox news tends to manage more than that, looks like they struggled to find people even willing to take part, also half of them were in one district as well so that's not even spread out enough to get accurate data.

Look! I did maths involving percentages!  Grin but seriously, this is why you simply shouldn't trust the majority of political polling.
2066  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NSA Spying Has Strong Approval From Young People on: January 28, 2015, 03:48:58 AM
Again, the problem with this kind of polling data is if they only release the percentages you can't know just how many 'Young People' have taken part in this poll, it's the same tactic used in other political polling where they say a percentage of 'Americans' believe and then when you look closer it reveals there has only been a 3000 poll sample which obviously is nowhere near an accurate representation of an entire country.

Data like this is horribly unreliable and should never be trusted, if you've got a bigger polling sample than say 5000 then there might be a point to it, but otherwise it's just political groups trying to trick people into thinking the world is against people who disagree.
2067  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Winklevii will become one of great capitalist barons of this century! on: January 28, 2015, 03:34:21 AM

They invested millions over millions in Bitcoin without realizing that it is crippled by technical limitations and already earmarked for replacement by newer and better technology: fail.

what limitations? earmarked by who?

He probably thinks Bitcoin is a company owned by somebody, don't mind him Wink I also found it strange that people are ranting about the Winklevoss twins so much when quite simply Coinbase seems to have pulled off what they have planned far better just by doing it instead of talking it up all the time.

Actions always speak louder than words, it's like listening to Paypal bitch about how they love Bitcoin so much and are going to implement it then never do anything and Overstock comes along and just slots it in because they were actually getting it set up instead of going on a PR tour.
2068  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NSA Spying Has Strong Approval From Young People on: January 28, 2015, 03:24:06 AM
Correction, some young people don't give a shit, I'm 24 and do everything I can to fuck with this sort of thing.
2069  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Get Ready for US Troops on the Ground in Syria and Iraq on: January 28, 2015, 03:09:05 AM
Listen to this war monger. He drools over going to war. Oh, he isn't going our sons and daughters would be going.

Quote
War is sweet to those who have never experienced it - Pintar

It's always fucking old people that are happy to go to war, they're the ones who profit since they don't have to do any of the fighting and they gain the resources. They're not only content with sending us all off to die ( Especially those ones who object to this kind of bullshit ) they want to piss away our own future on these wars while profiting themselves.

So even if we end up winning this finally, we're going to be the ones who have to pay for it in the end, with McCain and his supporters reaping all the benefits. I also noted that he made no mention of the Kurds which shows which side he's on, I suspect that the U.S will support the kurds as long as they keep fighting ISIS but when they start demanding their rights they'll turn on them in favour of propping up their more easy to control dictators and corrupt government officials.
2070  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NSA Spying Has Strong Approval From Young People on: January 28, 2015, 02:54:08 AM
I'm still going to call bull on this, If it were the case as this article claims, why are so many young people adopting cryptocurrencies compared to the old and why are so many of them using pretty unconventional tactics to avoid the very surveillance this poll claims they support. Never ever trust political polling data and 'surveys' that doesn't show their method of sampling and how many people took part clearly, if you asked this questions among hardcore democrats/republicans you would have very different results compared to your average person out there.
2071  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sent 20 BTC by mistake. Please help. on: January 27, 2015, 06:21:02 PM
People need to realise that Bitcoin is not a centralised system and there is no 'company' you can complain to if something goes wrong, the only thing you can do is ask this cloud mining website if they'll reverse the transaction. As others have said though, I find it pretty suspicious that you were playing around with 20btc and made that kind of mistake and you would so willingly dump that much money into something where you have to have some responsibility for your actions when using it and is worth far more than paper money?

I hope you aren't one of those people that was fooled into thinking that Bitcoin is a company and it's magic internet money and is completely worthless which is what news journalists and morons alike have been parroting for years. You can certainly get help with stuff here and lots and lots of information, but Bitcoin is decentralised you won't get your money back unless the person who got it happens to be nice.

2073  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Anita Sarkeesian - Feminist Frequency - Donating in Bitcoin on: January 27, 2015, 03:20:21 PM
People like Anita Sarkeesian are an insult to real feminists, stop trying to idolise her, I'm amazed you've kept this thread going for so long.
2074  Other / Politics & Society / Re: New police radars can 'see' inside homes on: January 27, 2015, 02:48:53 PM
This does not seem like a very healthy invention. I am curious, can this new device tell the police if the people inside the building
is black or white?

Okay, I laughed at this Cheesy
2075  Other / Meta / Re: necro threads on: January 27, 2015, 02:25:39 PM
I've been caught out a couple of times myself I'll admit, but that's why I've taught myself to always check the damn post date first, now that people do check you'll see that these necro spammers are targeting more recent ones because they think they'll get away with it.
2076  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is everyone so quiet? on: January 27, 2015, 01:50:22 PM
Everyone is just busy trading, that's all it is Cheesy no more flat markets now so people are busy.
2077  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin development in Ukraine on: January 27, 2015, 01:23:31 PM
Of course you wouldn't want to talk about someone that contradicts your view of the perceived enemy.
2078  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin development in Ukraine on: January 27, 2015, 01:19:45 PM
When you guys distance yourselves from both the Kiev government and the Russians to the East then I'll consider trusting these kinds of posts, until then I'd sooner trust the Autonomous Workers Union because at least those guys recognise that both sides are only looking to conquer Ukraine and have no interest in protecting the people who live there.
2079  Other / Meta / Re: necro threads on: January 27, 2015, 12:01:47 PM
If you're having a legit conversation it's fine, but if you're just posting one liner generic crap without even trying to talk to people that's when I'll post a report.
2080  Other / Politics & Society / Re: end of days? on: January 27, 2015, 11:52:52 AM
It's either total denial or they're just not interested from what I can tell, there's all sorts like hydrogen fuel cell technology out in prototyping right now and of course bacteria that produces ethanol which would be another way to solve the problems of supply. Usually not worth thinking about what a bunch of lunatics use as reasoning for their actions though.

One of the most interesting projects I've seen is a power plant that specifically takes advantage of the hotspots created by global warming in our oceans to create more electricity, that might actually be a pretty realistic step forward into fixing the problems with our atmosphere.

So basically someone went "Hmm, the earth is getting warmer because of all the coal and oil we're burning, so why not use that heat to generate electricity?"  Grin I need to find the link but it is definitely legit, they basically plan to install floating power plants that gather up the heat and turn the turbines to produce eletricity, simple but effective.

It's the same sort of idea where someone noticed that waste gives off geothermal gas and so on so why not use that very heat and emissions that's causing the problems in the first place?
