"I'm not worried about COVID-19.  Climate change killed me months ago."

 Cheesy

Makes you wonder about Greta Thunberg. She must really hate COVID-19.

It knocked her right off of the front pages. Now all the worrywarts have something else to fuss about.

 Cool

Gold, oil, Bitcoin all dropping along with stocks, where are people putting their money?
TP

No shortage of tp here in Quintana Roo.

We're flying up to Toronto in a couple of weeks. I don't know if the tp panic has hit there yet but maybe we'll bring a couple of huge suitcases full of the stuff back with us.

We'd be bringing them back empty anyway. We always bring down a couple filled with stuff it's hard to find down here.

Hopefully there's no limit on how many rolls you can legally bring back.

Tp smuggling. Who'da thunk it?

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Actually, not so good if you have to sell some coins but great if you can buy... currently $6192USD/$8530CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Capitulation? Hopefully. We'll see.

Meanwhile the right-twice-a-day gang are having a ball.

...when the halving comes their mommies and daddies will send them straight to bed because they're silly little teddy bears.

You guys watching the traditional stock markets? Everything is on sale.
Even gasoline is on sale.

Not toilet paper though.

Good AM Bitcoinland.

The battle for $8k continues... currently $8088USD/$11045CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Right back where we were before yesterday's dip.

Meanwhile we're another day closer to the halving. Tick tock.

And where are the all the "geniuses" "legends" who predicted $6000?

...everything is super stupid in the last 10-15 years.

I wouldn't want my child to watch retarded youtubers on youtube for example. I grow up by watching pokémon and that was the most awesome shit I have ever witnessed.

Pokémon? Lawl. Barely less retarded than Youtube.

What we see here is the rapid devolution to Ideocracy.

At least the 3 Stooges had a little wit and subtlety.

I wish I'd been informed about Bitcoin before January 2013. I'd be rich now instead of merely comfortable.
Don't let you repeat this in 2030  Cool

Don't worry. I'm not going to un-discover Bitcoin.

As soon as I heard about Bitcoin (from a friend telling me about Silk Road) my #1 priority was to accumulate as much as I could afford.

The only time I ever sold any coins unnecessarily was a mere 10 coins at $155 each during the "dead cat bounce" in April 2013. I bought 15 back at $97 shortly after. That was my only foray into tarding instead of hodling.

Now I buy whenever I can during a dip and only sell when I absolutely must. This has worked out very well for me. I'm stress-free and wealthier than I ever dreamed possible considering I didn't start until shortly before my 65th birthday.

Life is good.

People buying now are not "lucky". They are informed.

As it always has been.

I wish I'd been informed about Bitcoin before January 2013. I'd be rich now instead of merely comfortable.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

The dip continues... currently $7736USD/$10513CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Bitcoin, the stock market, crude oil are all down. Does this mean the dollar (and other fiat) is rallying?

Excellent time to sell your overpriced fiat.

Someone make the bleeding stop already. This is just nasty.
I've switched from munching popcorn to munching pistachio nuts.

This is going to be delicious.

I'll munch ribeyes and filet mignon. Maybe some carnitas too. Yum.

Seeds? Aren't they livestock fodder?  Cool

Good day Bitcoinland.
Seems like we've regressed to the
Battle for 8 grand.

Currently we're at
Eight one three six Yankee bucks
(Bitcoinaverage).

Back to where we were
Some time in January.
Oh well, no big deal

Mac will try to argue their part has superior QA, support, warranty, is part of a better designed system and operates with greater efficiency.   You can say the same thing about cars, so much money is wasted by people but theres a consumer demand for convenience and the premium is massive.   Apple is likely just going to continue and be successful because they get it, somehow they rate over windows for convenience and ease of use and so on.   I'm not a fan but I have taken Apple stock when it was unpopular, the margins they operate are beyond belief yet they arent losing their edge.   Eventually maybe they lose their way but apparently the CEO knows enough not to fix what aint broken.

They get it all right... advertising... slick advertising and lots of it.

That "somehow" is the same somehow that makes Mcdonalds taste so delicious. Seeing people sitting in the window at Starbucks with their Macbooks reminds me of kids at Micky D's. Look at me aren't I cool?

Some folks prefer real food.

All phones do the same things, and android is much cheaper.

My iphone 6s from 2015 still works like this is its first day. Find me an android phone from 2017 which is still in one piece.

Tried android before. They just suck.

Android is an operating system. The actual cellphone hardware varies greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Sure you can get an Android phone for 1/10th of the price of an iPhone and it will work just as well (actually better because you can maintain anonymity and avoid signing into Daddy Corporation's site altogether) but it probably won't last as long before the charger jack starts acting up.

You also have the option of paying 1/2 or 3/4 as much as an iPhone for a higher quality Android device that will outlast your iPhone while also maintaining anonymity and independence and not being insulted by having messages tainted with crApple advertising ("sent from my iPhone", etc.)

My Sony Experia Z2 Ultra is over a half dozen years old and still works great except for a cracked screen. My Samsung (non-Android) Rugby flip phone is so old almost all the finish has worn off right down to the aluminum-magnesium alloy case. Brick shithouse. Cost me <$100. Still my main phone, only one with a SIM card.

I'll be honest. I look down my nose at crApple products... high price, low quality. Back before the turn of the century it was easy to laugh at Mac users with their under-performing Motorola and IBM CPUs and software designed for the technologically inept.

Even after they upgraded to Intel silicon, they were a source of amusement. I remember a post to the OCZ SSD forums back in the early days of consumer SSDs. Someone wanted to know how the Mac version of the original Vertex differed from the normal version. One of the OCZ engineers replied that it had identical hardware and firmware. Only the label was different... and of course the price... the Mac version cost >$100 more.

One born every minute.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still over $9k I see after a wee dip under and back up... currently $9080USD/$12177CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

No problem.

Hey Jimbo

how is spring training going?

Pretty well so far. Of course the Jays are in the middle of a total rebuild.

The big news is top pitching prospect Nate Pearson who has been dominating. In his first appearance he struck out the side (all Yankee major leaguers) on 12 pitches. He has yet to allow a run in 3 appearances. Many believe he will be a homegrown workhorse ace like Dave Stieb or Roy Halladay.

He's big, has a triple-digit fastball and a hard breaking pitch with tons of late movement and possesses a strong work ethic. He's said to be mature beyond his years. Will hopefully be called up sometime this season. Gotta get that extra year of team control though.

Slugging first baseman Rowdy Tellez has come into camp in much better shape. He only lost a pound but described it as losing 15 pounds of fat and gaining 14 pounds of muscle. He also is realizing he doesn't need to swing for the fences to hit it out. His strength should allow him to tighten up his swing, improve his average to all fields and still get lots of HRs and extra-base hits.

Vladdy Guerrero has also arrived in better shape and is looking to improve on what was for him a disappointing rookie season.

Veteran journeyman Joe Panik, signed to a minor league deal has been impressing everyone with his defense at short and stands a chance to make the team as a utility infielder.

Other than that, it's what you'd expect. Veteran pitchers like Ryu and Shoemaker are working on extending pitch counts, youngsters like Thornton are working on new pitches, and hitters are getting their at-bats.

We'll all see how this works out in 3 weeks. I'll be flying up in time for the home opener. Same seats as the last few years, behind home plate but just enough up the 1st base line that the ump doesn't block my view of the strike zone. Good view of the Jays pen and dugout.

Play ball!

Would you please stop saying Boomers built the internet? Seriously, the net they were building was 100% statist crap that would make you suck the dick of AT&T every morning in order for it to work at all. It was pure garbage.

Sounds like you prefer PRISM controlled data-mining sites like Instacrap, Twit-ter, Fussbook, etc.

Enjoy your centralization.
___

BTW, I wasn't even talking about content. I was talking about the actual nuts and bolts of the internet. Microprocessors, TCP/IP, HTML, etc.

Many younger users have no idea what's going on in their devices. It's like drivers who have to call a mechanic to change their oil.   Grin

Hate to break it to you but Jeff (Big Lebowski) Bridges was born in 1949, totally Boomer.

Perhaps you should replace him with a picture of Kim Kardashian, born in 1980, totally Generation X.

 Cool
2119  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 05, 2020, 11:00:51 PM
how exactly have the boomers been fucking everyone over for 50 years?

social security

What exactly do Boomers have to do with social security?

I thought your comment odd so I googled American social security and found out that it dates back to long before the Boomers were born.

I understand that other generations like the GenXers and Millennials are jealous of the accomplishments of the Baby Boomers and seem to want to forget that it was the Boomers who largely gave them much of the lifestyle improvements of the late 20th and early 21st centuries like personal computers, the Internet, cell phones, racial integration, gender equality, tolerance of LGBT, etc.

The generation who gave you social security was the generation that gave you WW2, McCarthyism, the Military Industrial Complex... and the Baby Boom itself.

If anything, the Boomers are the biggest victims of social security. They dutifully paid large chunks of their paychecks into the system with the promise of a comfortable old age only to find that there weren't enough new contributors to keep the system afloat.

I was in my 20s when I figured out that I shouldn't expect to be supported by the government (or more accurately the taxpayers) in my old age. That was a half a century ago. I had enough sense to get off the employee, debtor, taxpayer treadmill and invest in people, knowledge and my own future.

Whining about Boomers won't do you any good when the shit hits the fan.
