When can we pre-order SP50 machines ?

No pre-orders for gen3.
2142  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which ASICs are least loud? on: July 14, 2014, 09:55:25 AM
I've got about 10-20kw available in a commercial space but noise would be an issue.  Which asics are quietest?  I know spoondollies is out.  Anyone have any suggestions would be much appreciated.

September batch isn't out and it will ship in less than 2 months.
2143  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: H/w Hosting Directory & Reputation on: July 13, 2014, 09:11:42 PM
What do you mean unrealistic? It's the default projection which the tool provides based on recent history.
The difficulty should be around 41G in Sept, which is where it starts, and grows 20% from their each increment.
Is this not realistic?

I don't want to start a difficulty speculation talk here, but it's impossible that the hashrate will double in one month. You can't add 125PH overnight. It takes time, money etc.

would 'baby' purr better? (ie how cold is too cold or don't matter)

You can't have too cold when it comes to mining machines. (as long as you don't have condensation)
2145  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Novec 7000 Project [immersive evaporating cooling] on: July 11, 2014, 08:31:30 AM
Both 7000 and 7100 can be used with the same closed loop system.  The point is that the larger the difference between ambient (i.e. outside) temp and the condensation point of the working fluid the more efficient the operation.   Now obviously a fluid which boils at 400C would be very efficient but it would also mean the processors would be 400C as well which wouldn't be good.   So the optimal working fluid in a two phase immersion cooling system is one with the HIGHEST boiling point which is still maintains the processors at an acceptable temp.

Yep, 34 (N/7000) is not really workable but 61 (N/7100) is fairly easy to condense and also a good working temp for chips; I would not be comfortable at 98 (N/7300) but 76 (N/7200) might be workable once the cooling is dialed in.

Higher boiling point also increases the usefulness of the hot water returned.

What's the price of the N7200?

Haven't heard anything from Bitfury.  Obviously they have money after feeding the beast that is ghash.io, so maybe they have some 20nm stuff they're keeping quiet about?

No they don't.

Does block withdraw method work against p2pool?
You mean block withholding.
Yes, it does.
It's actually worse there because nobody can stop it.

Withholding yes. Thank you.

It seems that current WA datacenters are not passing almost any savings in electricity rates to consumers as the price in Michigan and WA are essentially the same despite electricity being 1/3-1/4 in central WA. Just a comment.

Electricity usage is a small portion of the total costs of running a traditional tier 3 (>= 99.982% uptime) datacenter. This is reflected in their rates. They charge about 2-8 cents for electricity, and 12-18 cents for everything else.

Then, why all this talk about hosting miners in WA. Any state, except NY and CA would do. It is either important or non-important, but it cannot be important enough for the hosting company (to be in WA) and non-important for customers. It does not make sense. Perhaps, I am pushing this point too much, but otherwise the whole thing does not work. Regarding the uptime: some people are running miners in their garages with almost the same success. All you need is a good proper ventilation with some air conditioning (as long as the temperatures stay below 82oF or so), disconnect detection (no connection) and periodic reboot (usually not the miners themselves, but the software)-and you are golden.

Exactly. Miners just need the cheapest $/kW as possible. They can ignore the rest.

Noticed something odd with my 2 machines now I have access to them

Code:
MHS av=1207389.18,MHS 5s=1204761.85,MHS 1m=1204590.87,MHS 5m=1204600.79,MHS 15m=1204560.47
MHS av=1210265.57,MHS 5s=1204360.94,MHS 1m=1204303.10,MHS 5m=1198754.91,MHS 15m=1200041.68

Both are reporting around 1.2TH, but the gui and my pool are both reporting over 1.3TH, any ideas why the discrepancy ?

Known issue. The cgminer API aren't reporting ok. Important is GUI and pool.

@All DCs: You need to realize that bitcoin mining doesn't need all the fancy and expensive backup stuff. The diesel generator isn't needed if it brings costs down. You need to see how much will the power be down in 1 year. We miners are ok with 1-2-3% of having the power down. I am sure that all electric problem can be fixed in a matter of hours/days and they don't occur frequently.

Bitcoin mining needs DCs that are like a chicken farm. Minimum investment that provides power and cold air. That's it!

Roadstress, that's basically what we're doing. We're designing our system from the ground up with bitcoin mining (and mostly SP30s, since that's what Mike and I bought) in mind. No generator, no UPS, very low PUE, enough cooling for extremely high density (50+ kW/rack), and designed to be run near full capacity.

The PUDs around here all are pretty good in terms of power reliability. Chelan County PUD informally cited a figure of around 99.5% for power uptime, and I think that Grant and Douglas are similar. A diesel generator might get you 0.4% extra, and UPS another 0.09%. Diesel generators cost a lot more than 0.4% of the price of a bitcoin miner per kW, and battery backup is even worse.

I'm more than ok with 99.5% uptime. No need for diesel and UPS. Better focus on cheap and effective cooling.

bah gettin the same again;

Tried restart MinerGate?

Wow.  Not that hard to make a missile go 25 clicks.  How dumb are those guys in Gaza?  I think most 6th graders having a bit of advanced experience with Estes rockets are ready to move up to the next level and achieve 25km.  I sure hope spondoolies is taking appropriate cover.

Their offices are there, not the assembly plant. That is farther away.

How much can me earn per month with Titanium 2 - 3Th/s?
Exactly $0.  The product does not exist.
your mean is this scam topic?

My opinion is that is it, but you don't need to believe me. Just ask for a real proof before sending money.
tks guy
so, I'm new, I don't know much
I can see your device is SP30-6Th/s, I also found Knc Neptune-3Th/s.
How much can I earn with each?

Try searching for bitcoin calculators.

Zvi.. setting up my SP10s today and one is giving this error: Pool data successfully saved but failed to restart miner, please try again in 1 minute.

it won't start cgminer

help please?
scrap that factory reset did it

Or you could just restart the MinerGate.

I've still never seen any math where a withholding attack doesn't cost you more than it provides.  If you have 10 PH/s, the network is 100 PH/s (including you), and you do a withholding attack on a pool with 20 PH/s.  Okay, so now you have effectively removed your 10 PH/s from the network, so the difficulty won't reflect your speed.  However, in the course of doing that (effectively reducing the next difficulty by 10%) you're taking a HUGE cut in your pay.  You'd be earning 33% less than expectation (you would be 1/3rd of that originally 20 PH/s pool, and by withholding that pool will under-perform by 33%).

I've played with the numbers endlessly, and the result is always the same.  You cannot perform a withholding attack where you end up earning more are higher than they would be if you were legitimately mining at 100% capacity.  It's the simple fact that you can not make the network difficulty be adjusted by more than the pay cut you're taking by performing the attack.

Now, this obviously only applies to non-PPS pools.  With PPS it's completely viable to do withholding attacks because your earnings hit is only the pool fee whether you are solving blocks or not.  Your only problem there is making sure you are able to continue pulling your balance out before the pool goes bankrupt.

There might not be a direct gain from this, but there might be an indirect gain as baddw suggested below. It seems logical to sacrifice X PH/s just to gain something in the medium/long term

The only impact that such an attack would have is to try to ruin the pool, or to earn BTC without impacting the difficulty.  (Which, granted, could be goals of an attacker.)  But the attacker could not *gain* anything by such an attack.  Their 10% would earn just as much BTC by solo mining as they get in the pool; and the other 10% would not earn any more or less.

I asked my current co-location place about S3's and they said bring 'em on! As many as you want. All they need of course are power supplies sent to them and they'll hook them up on large bread racks they have there. And if I have a lot, they'll make a good deal.

Yes there are some DCs that don't use regular racks shelves, but only a few. I still think that most of the pictures with S3s will be from regular homes not DCs.

You say your house is full of Jupiters and Sp10's, how the heck do you live? One SP10 is loud enough and you said your house is filled with miners? How do you watch TV? With headphones? What do you do in the summer about cooling everything?

I got 1 free empty house.

Edit:
I've never been a risky person, so I hesitate, and sometimes I lose out. The best thing I ever did was buy a KNC Saturn and then bought 4 upgrade modules. That little guy is still chugging along. I think if my house had more electrical resources and didn't have to worry about cooling I'd have mining rigs all over the place. It is addicting.

So you started with 20% increase, but we have:
Code:
Estimated Next Difficulty: 17,609,327,556 (+4.70%)

Let me cite from our favorite AM (main?) shareholder

Yes but with the difficulty derivative I find it extremely difficult to predict the next difficulty a week away. Even predicting the next difficulty ~3 days away is not easy.
Because some people find it doable.

...with more or less results I might add.

OR you could pick up 7-TH worth of S3's for half the price....

Wait a minute. Are you comparing a bundle that started hashing 3 months ago with something in stock? That can't be fair.

I understand you bringing up the worse case scenario.
But most are not in it...

Why it's a worst case scenario? I really think that most miners already own mining equipment and have a limited power circuit available. Optimizing it sound the best approach.
