Wow. Why is no one panicking!?
Pretty much expected scenario - no rally unless the masses enter again.
Now only speculators and fans - with the ASICs we lost too many hobbyists and why the hell should some middle/lower class newbie buy in these prices?
Because moon?

EDIT: Not to mention that the Ripple/Fidor partnership will basically get the biggest piece of the remittance industry

I thought masses were supposed to enter late in the game.
With hedge funds only money we are going nowhere IMHO

Only decentralised ones or centralised too included (like XRP, STR)?
Well, technically XRP is premined but not centralised, AFAIK.
Maybe de-facto it is, but if it was successful new nodes could have come up quite easily. Afain, AFAIK.

Well ok, I think you know what I mean  Smiley
2145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: August 28, 2014, 11:12:16 AM
Perhaps it is good to interpret my own post because it wasn't obvious:

As with metals, the #1 is really valuable, but the #2 is only about 1/50 as valuable. Others are not even counted.

So will it be with coins, therefore do not buy coins that aim to be #3.
Makes sense.

Though, if I think COIN1 and COIN2 have both 50% chances of becoming #2, it makes sense to invest half in one and half in another (while keeping most funds in #1 anyway).

Exactly. What coins do you regard as having it?
Only decentralised ones or centralised too included (like XRP, STR)?

Hi guys, I bought some cause of CoinShuffle. Come-from-Beyond is supposed to implement this in NXT too, that's how I first became aware of it.

Cheers!

If it breaks 510 probably another bull trap

that all depends on the volume. if it doesn't go below $450 and there is high volume, I'm gonna bump up to  85% crypto.
Agreed - I wait patiently to stack moar coinzzz

This no volume trickle up is meaningless. The inverted head and shoulders reversal pattern didn't pan out.  Is there even enough cash on the exchanges to to push us up to $600? I think we're going to have to wait some more.  Still, I can't imagine the bears have much ammo left after shorting for nine months.
With no fresh fiat price is vulnerable to miners and bad news/rumours  Undecided

WTF is twitch?

Amazon bought it and it accepts BTC

http://t.co/7HZB0AlnOg

Twitch is a live video streaming website, it is mostly used by gamers to stream their game plays...
Not so important I guess

More than 55 million visitor/month. It's like the Youtube for Gamers, because they can stream their gameplays, too.

> Twitch is the world's leading video platform and community for gamers. We want to connect gamers around the world by allowing them to broadcast, watch, and chat from everywhere they play. <
http://www.twitch.tv/p/about

I think that they're really important and you can find some stats there --> http://stats.twitchapps.com

Just trying to understand if this was the main reason for the spike today!

Twitch is apparently the 4th biggest consumer of bandwidth on the internet, behind Netflix, Google, and Apple:

Nice!

BitsharesX is going nuts by the way, almost over 100 mil marketcap at the moment.. http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitshares-x/

Strange thing is that they are only traded at chinese exchanges (Poloniex was added few days ago I think).

On its way to becoming possibly the biggest disaster in crypto history.

Keep clear of the damage when the time comes.

Can you explain the reasons why you think so?

Because i believe their pegged assets feature is extremely unsound, and will very likely lead to a massive implosion. The bigger the capitalization involved the worse the damage will be, and it seems to be getting quite large.

EDIT: That plus the legal risk already mentioned, although either could make the other more likely. Again, a very dangerous situation.

Can you be more specific than "extremely unsound"?  The legal risk I understand.

I will let others elaborate. If it hasn't been explained I will write it up at some point but I don't have time right now.
@Gentso1: Anonymint & Cunicula criticised this heavily - check for bytemaster's post and bitshares in the forum.

I am sad I missed the days when BC cunicula was active. He has some cool ideas.

does anybody have copies of cunicula's whitepaper? the link is not working anymore Sad
Small chances I will find something in my HD but I will try..
2153  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Hop Whitepaper Altcoin Solution for Trustless Decentralized BTC USD Exchange on: August 26, 2014, 01:13:37 PM
I am a bit late to discover this, hopefully cunicula is still monitoring it.
Anyway I am a C programmer and I would love to implement this, my total cash requirements for this project would be 0.00000000 BTC

Plz PM me

James
If he PMs you remind him his obligation for the NXT whitepaper - he took 250K NXT for this from me, Pouncer & CfB...

P.S. the btsx guys answer was that this was an experiment to see if their pegging system works! An experiment with other people's million's of dollars. seems a bit irresponsible to me, especially the way they market it as being so solid.
It reminds me of CfBCNext's comment on NXT and Gavin's disclaimer on BTC.

Out of the dozens assets you issued @NXT AE aren't there any 'experiments'?

That said I have no BTSX because I agree it is a timebomb..
