I love the conspiracy theories in this thread.  You people can make conspiracy theories involving the lint in your dryer!

Anyways, anything over a .25 increase a month on the major exchanges make me nervous. We, as the bitcoin community, are still suffering social punishment over the $30 peak last year.  Now, we deserve all the criticism we got for it, but if it happens again then it would really do some damage to BTC future.

Not really.

I can't wait to go to $10 and I bet others who bought last year at like $15 too.

For the record, I only bought at $0.58 back in May 2011 and sold at highs.

I can only feel sorry for the fools buying at $17 or $15 last year.

Can we have another bubble, PLEASE !?

dollar to dollar transactions low cost.  But, the dollar economy isn't isolated, and as a practical matter most everyone will have to pay service fees to use dollar

FTFY

And saying that people will "probably" or "maybe" pay more fees != will pay more.

I feel that you're stating one position (bitcoins have high fees) and then providing arguments for a totally different position (bitcoin services cost too much)

You might have something to discuss on the latter, but you're not doin' a good job.

How about this: I'll open a bank and I'll lend out depositors' monies at interest. I'll charge depositors a fee to keep their money safe.  I'll charge depositors every time they conduct an operation in the bank - I'll charge fees for them to put their money IN the bank, and I'll charge them fees to take their money out.  With ATM bank machines, I can reduce my costs-per-operation to almost zero, but WTF, I'll charge depositors the same amount anyway 'cos, really, all the banks do that anyway and I wanna be part of the BigBankersClub. Now THAT would be fees for using cash.

Really, guys, what's the point of a revolutionary new currency if nothing really changes? We'll just get a different cartel of bankers? I was hoping for better.

For having 200 posts on this forum, you sure don't know much about da bitcoins.  I thought about going posting more about why bitcoin is different, but it's been spelled out very clearly by those more eloquent than myself on these very forums.
2185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: low transaction fees, I don't think so on: June 15, 2012, 07:51:44 PM
People keep telling me that there are no fees to use US Dollars. But then I need to PAY for my Comcast bill for internet. Then the corner stores wants me to PAY for a bag of M&Ms. The audacity!

As for your toll bridge. Had it been privatized, those tolls would have increased two fold yearly

FTFY!

2189  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The image of bitcoins on: April 27, 2012, 01:24:20 AM
Make the image of Bitcoins better by creating a useful service that needs BTC to function. Right now, Silk Road is the only mainstream application that is created around bitcoins inherent utility. Once there's a popular bitcoin only product, the image will change in a good way.

This.  Also, getting people who are enthusiastic about BTC to stop focusing on "da guvurnmint" when explaining BTC.  When the average person hears words like "decentralized" and "anonymity" they will pause and wonder what exactly you are doing that needs to be so hidden from the government in the first place.  These are all people who use facebook and twitter, so being non-anonymous  is a GOOD thing to them.

-vaporware. why can't anybody just release product anymore without creating hype first

Do you have a better way of getting investment money without working??
2191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoincard.org on: April 26, 2012, 07:57:15 PM
Umm...I've actually used the product, held it, and met the creators...a few days ago

I think you'd understand if we all said "pics or didn't happen".  Cheesy

"Now, imagine a card that can grant you any wish, even if that wish is for more wishes. What does this card look like? Jesus. Combined with Godzilla.  It also comes with the entire Beatles catalog in .ogg format that you can play directly into your brain through tiny lasers that combine to form an ad-hoc laser network to signal Batman."

2193  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CoinLab obtains $500k in seed funding on: April 25, 2012, 07:39:06 PM
I've never understood the hate for bitcoin.
The problem with bitcoin is that there are so many morons in it promoting it poorly and giving the SolidCoin style "UP UP UP EXPLODE IN YOUR FACE TAKE THE WORLD BY STORM" speech so often everyone thinks we're all wackos. This is why I troll people. You have got to learn to lighten up and start working with the world to change it, not against it.

This this this this this.  Anytime I see someone ask why they should use/support bitcoin and a BTC user explains it by saying anything about fiat/the fed/da govurnmint they the chances are that the BTC user just drove someone away from using BTC.

There are tons of benefits of BTC to explain to someone without going all foamy-mouth nutty
2194  Economy / Services / [WTS] Video/Audio Editing - Offering affordable and quick service since 2011 on: April 24, 2012, 03:10:26 PM
Hello.  I am a budding AV editor and am looking for a chance to practice my skill/make a few BTC.  If you have some video you'd like put together or audio you want mixed please contact me and we'll work out a deal.  I'll do anything with you supplying the material (wedding videos, ect) to basic requests (Make a Rainbow Dash montage to this German folk song, ect)

Here is one example of my mix-craft: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYwrag28yUU
I've also done a few corporate "how-to" videos where I narrated as well.  Would supply them here, but not sure how those clients would feel about being advertised here so won't provide links.

Another example of some work I've done for BTC clients:
Playtin Promo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NZUbUo569Q
MLP:FiM fan video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QT_vPzvIGFM

For those interested, I do have access to some decent voice talent (both male/female).  So, if you want a commercial or voice-over, this is entirely possible.
2195  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Nanaimo Gold legit? on: April 23, 2012, 07:47:10 PM
Not really sure, but one look at the website and...well...

In the future, best to ask if something is legit before sending money to it.

What's the mysterious '...well...' supposed to mean? Adds nothing to the OP's question.

I forgot that some are unable to read a statement and reach a conclusion base on the context of thread and post.  I shall try better.

REDUX:
Not really sure, but one look at the website and...well...it's very obvious that you should not have done what you did without further research as the website lacks very basic levels of professionalism.  If they weren't willing to spend 20mins on a web page, don't trust them with a wet noodle.

So? But he did, and stating the obvious is not helping either (just increasing your post count, but I guess that's the main purpose here).

Incorrect, sir.  My post provided two very good pieces of help. He asked if it was legit and I gave him a very big clue indicating that it wasn't. Operational success!

Second, I have provided the OP with the tool of determining if any future exchange is legit by seeing if the website/portal passes a basic "sniff test".

Alas sir, I will not let you derail this thread any more. Good day!

2197  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: does mining really work and what is it on: April 23, 2012, 07:26:17 PM
If mining is going to only run on CPU it will not be good enough to make any meaningful result.

Yea, to emphasize this point, last march I tried to mine with just cpu in a pool and I made about .01 BTC a day.  Now, with the network being so large, I imagine that you'd be lucky to make 0.001 BTC a day with just cpu in a mining pool.
2198  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: does mining really work and what is it on: April 23, 2012, 07:04:54 PM
You'll want to look into mining pools as the odds of solo mining and getting any BTC is astronomically small.

Would appreciate a whitelisting.  I've been casually mining for more than a year and would like to become more involvedin BTC.

Thanks so much!
