You're right, all processors I know of do BTC -> USD and not the other way around.  I hope someone can step up and do this!
1802  Other / Off-topic / Re: READ THIS IF YOU WERE MY BUYER IN THE PAST VERY VERY IMPORTANT on: January 02, 2013, 10:16:47 PM
You would have been less suspicious had you not donated to the forum.

It's amazing, isn't it? The donator's list reads like a Who's Who of scammers.

Makes sense though. It's practically like buying instant credibility among those who don't know better.

Among the data citing to support this claim was the increase in downloads of the various Bitcoin-related clients. Bitcoin-qt, the most popular of the clients, reached 70,000 downloads a month in the second half of the year.

1805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin Bible" by Charles Petzhold on: January 02, 2013, 08:19:42 PM
I'm still waiting for a "Bitcoin For Dummies" book.

At least we have the forum...

He said Bitcoin for Dummies not Bitcoin for Raving Lunatics

1806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My roadmap to bitcoins success. on: January 02, 2013, 04:19:39 PM
I try to do pretty much the same.

1) A teeny-tiny amount of mining for just for the giggles.

2) Offer a service only available in BTC (see my sig).

3) Buy some BTC with USD and then spend most of THAT on on goods/services.

4) Talk up BTC whenever possible. As I hang out with mostly normal people they really do have a hard time seeing anything but scams when I talk about BTC. They assume anything I buy with BTC was stolen some how  Sad

The one thing I don't do is actively speculate and day trade.  I find that pointless.

I was cooking bacon in my toaster oven just b4, I go to check on it, the TOASTER OVER IS ON FIRE!!!!! AHHHHH
open the door FLAMES!!
called 911
Tongue

If you call the cops, you give them probable cause to enter your home...

I imagine if there is a fire and the cops show up in a capacity to extinguish what flames there are no one would care.  Actually, I think your house being aflame is enough to be probable cause anyways.
1808  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: #1 Agent for BTC Buying. on: January 01, 2013, 12:57:59 AM
I've used bitcoinroad.com for several purchase now and Adam has always provided great service and as fast a turn around as possible.  I don't know the guy personally and have only communicated with him when buying BTC, but it is very clear that customer service is his #1 priority.

I have and will continue to recommend his shop for those interested.
1809  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Charge-back scam on: December 31, 2012, 10:14:41 PM
My suggestion is everyone stop selling over eBay FULL STOP

FTFY

I'm still utterly shocked than anyone with BTC would accept ebay/paypal anything at this point.

Oops. Well, it is all gambling anyway really. You're betting (bidding) on red or black in the end.

HEY! Don't you know that it is forbidden to make rational and truthful statements in the speculation forum?!
1811  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: December 31, 2012, 07:11:34 PM
good opportunity to sell expensive coins?
i think so!

Incorrect. It is a chance to hold your coins until the inevitable $15.50

LOL

You're right, that was dumb of me to say.

Inevitable $17.50

ROFL!

$20.50? I'm not sure how high you want me to go here.

prepare for panic stability

I think this just sneaked in to be the best comment of 2012. Great job!

I gotta admit that you stick to your guns despite both objective and historical evidence to the contrary Cheesy
1818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Krugman: Is the Computer Revolution Coming To a Close? on: December 27, 2012, 08:45:48 PM
Nope. Ultimately it's still just exchanging goods/services for other goods/services. A concept that's been around since before governments or even taxes.  Now, you could argue that it's highly efficient exchanging thanks to the global and instant method thank to it being digital...but then it would just piggy back on the computer revolution.

By your logic, giving a chicken to someone in exchange for a haircut is REVOLUTIONARY.

Though, I can see that people who like Ron Paul might have a distorted idea of the definition of "revolution".
1819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Krugman: Is the Computer Revolution Coming To a Close? on: December 27, 2012, 08:19:42 PM

I feel that the next one would be:

#4 decentralized currency, end of central banking monopoly: ~2020 and onwards

Hate to break it to you, but this is far to specific to ever be it's own "revolution".  While decentralized currency has great potential, it isn't so drastic as to alter the entire planet's every day lives.
1820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fee to join IRC chat rooms on: December 26, 2012, 09:03:15 PM
Eh, this idea would need lots of refinement. You'd risk turning your IRC chatroom into a pyramid scheme if the users got any part of the "fees".   Alternatively, you could try to turn your IRC room into some sort of premium chat, but who would want to pay when there are tons of other ones for free?
