1843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: STFU. Stop telling newcomers about mining. DON'T. on: December 21, 2012, 05:05:05 PM

STFU. stop feeding this thread. DON'T.

I'm gonna reread the whole thing now.
1844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: STFU. Stop telling newcomers about mining. DON'T. on: December 21, 2012, 03:59:13 PM
I agree.  Mining is not something that newcomers need to know about.  It'll either confuse them or turn them off from BTC.

Early last year when mining was still a relatively efficient way of generating BTC I told a few friends about it.  Even now, nearly 1.5 years later, they are still fixated on mining and think that's the ONLY way of acquiring BTC. I have tried to explain to them that it is much easier to just buy them off the market or trade for them, but mining has gotten stuck in their head.

Even after my warnings one just recently bought a $200+ graphics card and got super pissed when he only got a measly amount of return.  He now refuses to consider BTC anymore because he, in his words,  "got ripped off".

Telling them about mining was my biggest mistake Sad

Time for $8.47.  Grin

Not sure what god you worship, but I'd look into getting a new one.
1848  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: December 21, 2012, 02:56:05 AM
High prices means less distribution.

Back when Bitcoin was trading for .07 dollars each, many people had them! Now that they are trading for more than $10 each, very few people have them.

If the price continues to rise, large holders of Bitcoin will purchase even more Bitcoins, making them less distributed. The more expensive they become, the easier it is to hold more!

If more people become interested in Bitcoin and purchase them, the price will go down.

Does any of this make any sense?  Shocked

It could be the Gin and Tonic talking at this time of night...but it sorta does.

But I think you are not taking into account the high divisibility of BTC.  If BTC become worth $1million USD each (not saying they are, just as an example) a few people will hold 10,000 BTC but people could still buy/sell/trade in BTC without to many problems since they could effectively spend .000005BTC.  I'm not sure how, but this seems important. HMMMM

I smell a bear trap

I smell a repeat of last week. A bunch of crazy stuff Sat. and Sun., but come Mon. you'd be hard pressed to noticed a change at all Cheesy
1850  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GOATS! on: December 20, 2012, 11:30:07 PM
If you are switching to this because mining for Bitcoin is unprofitable, then you are only fooling yourself.

Scenario 1)
- You give $100 to the goat-needing families

Scenario 2)
- You mine 5 BTC for Coinbase, using $100 of electricity.
- Coinbase converts the BTC to USD.
- Coinbase sends $67.50 to the goat-needing families.

And no one sees the problem with this?

I guess people like this just because it's kinda novel and people like to feel they're helping directly.  This goes the same for real world donations.  Lots of people get excited about canned food drives when, in reality, it'd be much more economical and productive to just give straight up money to the donation center.

Just in time for the weekend dip!

How long until that wall becomes the dip itself?

1853  Economy / Speculation / Re: Woo hoo Silver smack down on: December 20, 2012, 10:36:35 PM
Any guesses why the drop?  I don't really follow PM markets, but I'm actually kinda surprised about this.
1854  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does the newer Bitcoin clients download the block chain faster? on: December 20, 2012, 10:19:55 PM
So I'm not really a newbie but sort've feel like one since I haven't logged on in a while.  Anyway, fired up the old program and remembered how painfully slow the block chain takes to "catch up" when you haven't run the client in a while.  Is the latest version faster?  I see this as a problem for new users, I already had about the first 150k blocks, I can only imagine how long it would take to start from scratch.

I don't know if it's faster, but it does still take forever.  It is highly recommended to use a light client unless you're willing to wait.
1855  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: December 20, 2012, 10:12:03 PM
You're all idiots.

It's obviously going to be March 3rd, 2017. I can't believe I even have to point this out  Angry
1856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to switch on litecoin. BITCOIN IS DEAD for normal miner on: December 20, 2012, 09:47:36 PM
mccorvic think's he's got everything and everyone figured.  Roll Eyes

NOW YOU GOT IT! Geez.
1857  Economy / Speculation / Re: Woo hoo Silver smack down on: December 20, 2012, 09:43:09 PM
lol you call that a troll?

Buddy take a good look at your ignore button. Perhaps you need to get a higher set of cry babies to ignore you because you troll them so hard, then come back and let's discuss. Until the, you are but a pea of a troll to me. MUAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!  Grin Grin Grin

Hehe.  No, I was just kinda making fun of other traders in general by spouting gibberish, but then you responded to me with a serious response which is what was funny to me.  I'm not actually tryin' to actively troll Cheesy
1858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to switch on litecoin. BITCOIN IS DEAD for normal miner on: December 20, 2012, 09:41:53 PM
Ok YOU WON  Grin you are unable to understand any economic discussion.

last thing what you are saying about litecoin could have been said about bitcoin when it was younger... think about that, go educate yourself and come back Smiley

Mmhmm. Yup.
1859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to switch on litecoin. BITCOIN IS DEAD for normal miner on: December 20, 2012, 09:35:43 PM
You're way off base on so many levels that I won't even address this. Lets just say your comments smell of desperation. Got a lot of money tied up in bitcoin?
Less than $300USD at any given time.  Thanks for trying to troll though.  Mostly I'll buy some BTC, hold a little, but spend the rest on stuff on the economy. O WAIT I FORGOT THERE ISN'T A BTC ECONOMY Sad

And you know, I wouldn't really actually care to much if LTC some how...pfffhaha...succeeded. But it won't and I'm just trying to help you bros and friends out.  At best you just bring down crypto and we stay with paypal.  I'm not a doomsday conspiracy theorist so I don't think the government is secretly controlling paypal and ebay or anything.

wow calm down, "scam"? I don't allow you to say such things that's wrong and offensive. If you think that people on bitcoin don't speculate you are dumb. Like dumb. Really. Betting on future litecoin economy is a bet and I'm ready to bet on that. we will see in few month... Wink

People speculate on oil. People speculate on cow feed. Just because there is speculation != no economy.

You're the poster boy for LTC. LTC won't ever be worth anything because the only people using it are people like you.  BTC has the industrious, the inventive, the people who know how to work.  LTC is full of people like you. Scammers.
1860  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to switch on litecoin. BITCOIN IS DEAD for normal miner on: December 20, 2012, 09:25:01 PM
Of course! If mining wasn't profitable people would not mine. So either you change your technology either you mine something else.

My point is that the actual bitcoin value is 90% because of the speculation. The bitcoin demand is not from and for real goods/services exchange but for people who want to enter in this new trendy game that is called bitcoin.

You should read more and read more about economy in general.

Sweet baby moses, you don't know when to quit! You just admitted that you just hope to pump-dump and scam.  It's not about the economy, it's not about cryptocurrencies actually making a difference. It's about scamming to you.

Close your account. Get off these boards. Go play WoW or something.
