This forum should be measured by the innovation it encourages, not the # of posters.
I<snip>
On the otherside, if more spammers came, it's negative, but wouldn't be a big impact because there are fixed guidelines and rules that fights againts spammers.
Hmm, you had a good point somehow; their damage is greatly reduced through the combined efforts of mods, merit system and active reporters. But in my opinion, I still can't say that they don't create a huge impact here because even a single toxic person can cause a lot of trouble. As long as there are members who got deceived by the scammers and annoyed by the spammers/sh*tposters then it should be a big deal for us. Nevertheless, I am grateful to have a law and enforcers who are fighting against dirty deeds Cheesy.
222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin a sure legacy on: September 25, 2020, 02:51:23 AM
It is highly advisable to purchase bitcoin because of its increasing value and the benefits attached to owning one in our present society.

Okay, I will agree to you that bitcoin can be a good asset which your grandchildren can be inherited. However, do not encourage others to invest in bitcoin just because of its increasing value. It doesn't always work like that. I'm worrying for those people who are convinced by such reasoning since they might shocked after the value of their money fall very hard and lose interest to it afterwards. Tell them the truth dude, Bitcoin price fluctuates and unpredictable. Maybe today it was skyrocketing but tomorrow it will go down the hill, no one knows. Enlighten them with the pros and cons of it and let them decide whether they will continue or not Smiley.
223  Economy / Economics / Re: world economy usa will be first country tunr back to normal huge bull run world on: September 24, 2020, 10:17:52 AM
Okay, Mr. Nostradamus. Continue believing on your fearless forecasts Grin. No offense but in my own perspective, USA won't able to recover as fast as you think. Why? Because of the hard heades citizens definitely. Imagine, even wearing a face mask become a big deal for some of them. So how can they eradicate it totally if its citizens are acting like that? Although everyone knew that they are a powerful country and have lots of resources, every development would be pointless and the problem will keep coming over and over again. Vaccine and other rmedications is not the only thing needed. Cooperation of the citizens is also an important key to resolve this.

This forum should be measured by the innovation it encourages, not the # of posters.
In this case, The lesser, the better. I'd rather choose to have a simple less active forum rather an overpopulated one mostly composed of toxic people (I'm referring to scammers and sh*tposters). Merit System provided a long term solution for such problems and I'm glad about it. I don't want the last 2017 craze happen again Cheesy.

Let the lurkers made their choice because only with purest intentions among them will come here voluntarily. No need to stress out ourselves thinking of things on how to attract them.

Edit: fix the code
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: And this is how you make 'easy' money riding the Defi on: September 24, 2020, 03:10:49 AM
And to make everything promising, add words like "Yield Farming" or "Finance" at the end of your project and Voila! Sure 200% pump in no time Roll Eyes. So ridiculous.

I wonder why most people recently are getting crazy in this defi? Actually, it's quite alarming already since they keep on coming and more and more are getting scammed. For God's sake, don't ride the hype train. I know that crypto investing is as risky as hell but please don't push yourself in an obvious lake of fire. Be wiser guys. Avoid tokens based on food as much as possible, they're a future sh*tcoin most probably.
226  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Forum insights and motivational posts for newbie and newcomers on: September 23, 2020, 12:06:27 PM
I bet at least some of them did.
If I understand correctly, there was no merit system in the beginning of this forum. Thus, many members have progressed solely on the basis of time and number of posts regardless of their quality.

Nope, such cases were not solely a product of luck  IMHO, it is sort of 30% luck and 70% dedication. Their lucky in a sense that they became legendaries before the merit system introduced, they no longer need to chase merit points since they already meet highest rank possible (at least for now). However, we should keep in mind that they stayed here way back time when this forum is not yet as popular as today — when there are no to less earning opportunities  For me that means a lot. Imagine the time and dedication they poured here thus they absolutely deserve where they are right now Smiley.
227  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Forum insights and motivational posts for newbie and newcomers on: September 23, 2020, 09:26:32 AM
What makes this forum different though is that you can earn some money, depending on your rank and quality of posts, but I still wouldn't call it a career -
Very well said. So for those newbie, lying on the middle or those members who are having a slow progress on ranking up; don't worry too much. It is not a total manifestation of your capabilities in life. At the end of the day, what matters the most is not about ranks or campaigns you joined in but the knowledge you acquired and how you put it into application. So don't get intimidated and feel hopeless, we are all doing fine Smiley

But on the other hand, we can't also discount the the greatness of Legendaries here. They didn't reached that high spot out of luck only. Of course they work for it as well.
228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin society on: September 22, 2020, 12:17:10 PM
I'd rather call it the crypto community which comprises of bitcoin maximalists, shitcoin maximalists, and those in the middle. In this community, you see a lot of infighting. One group accusing the other crypto as scams and insecure. The other group counters and calls the other as old tech  Grin
For me it was a sort of Ying and Yang scenario. There is good (bitcoin in this case) and there is bad (the sh*tcoins of course) circulating in an ecosystem — well balanced. Nice concept in all fairness however I still prefer the fantasy type. Wherein all of us are living happily ever after and harness crypto's full potential for the greater good. But I know that your concept is closer to reality than mine Cheesy.
its quite hard to make it introduce to other people like to the elder with me because they don't know what it is and they are afraid to taking a new path or new risk.
Well, it's because of boomer problems lol jk. But you know what, I'm glad because at least the elders in my surrounding appreciates what I'm doing. Yeah! They can't fully understand the technicalities of it but they are still amazed and willing to learn. That's what I'm talking about, boomers vs new gen wars are nonsense. Respect them and you will beget respect, as simple as that.
229  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How you can earn money from bitcointalk.org? on: September 22, 2020, 03:49:20 AM
[snip]
Yeah, never think this way, you can't consider Bitcointalk is a source of income. Let's find a decent job that has a stable source of income.
Indeed. Who said this forum is a place for job opportunities anyways Roll Eyes? Yeah we can earn few bucks here but it doesn't necessarily mean that we depend everything on it. That's why I can't help myself to get pissed off every time a newbie come here and ask how to earn money. They are absolutely misguided by someone else.

For this reason, I always refuse to say that few of my crypto earnings came from this forum because there's a high tendency for them to ask me about it. I don't want them to come here just because of money — I don't want them to become sh*tposters and spammer in the making.
230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you determine if an altcoin is worth investing in? on: September 22, 2020, 01:18:28 AM
A lot of people have been burned by founders running away with with ICO money. It tarnishes the reputation of cryptocurrencies and I believe we should help educate new investors as soon as possible.
You actually said the answer already. You mentioned that a lot of investors are scammed by the ICOs which is absolutely true. In that being said, my criterria is very simple. If it's new (an ICO, Defi etc), I will pass; if it's old and famous alt or btc, it's a big check. I'm not saying that all alts sprouting nowadays have no value, what I'm only saying is it seems that majority of them are scam thus getting a small chance of earning if you pursue it. If you want to play safe then follow my advice but if you are adventurous and willing to make risks for greater pumps then go ahead. The future of an investor depends on his own actions, good luck Smiley.
231  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Legit trading courses on: September 21, 2020, 10:10:09 AM
Don't get into any courses for the trading. Most of them will steal your money, you should do on your own to gain something from it.Some people will text you related to their trading courses and their trading company. Most of them was fake, they will fly away after getting bitcoin from you.Since bitcoin can't traceable you may lose some money.
First of all, if it's free then I don't see something wrong of grabbing it. On the other hand, if you need to pay first then why not. Money in exchange of knowledge is worth it because you have it in yout lifetime and use to create even more money in the future. Hmm, so why became so bitter all of a sudden? Dude don't be so paranoid Grin, yeah there are scam online trading courses but there are still legit ones existing as well. The best you can do is to stick on the most recommended, you'll be safe there. Chill and don't spread fear hehe.
232  Other / Meta / Re: Reduced forum activity on: September 21, 2020, 05:31:20 AM
Maybe having some social media promotion would not be a bad idea.
Does Bitcointalk have active twitter account?
Maybe someone can post best posts of the day and week in twitter.
Yeah! Not a bad idea. Actually it was a nice way to promote our forum in a broader sea of audience. However, I am just not sure if it will boom like on the pages/accounts of celebrities or great content creators. Let me give you an example.

I still remember that one of the members of our local board decided to create an FB group dedicated for the btctalk members in our country way back 2018 AFAIR. Unfortunately, it became inactive eventually. Sometimes I saw posts from it but more of referral links that's why I get annoyed and ignore it already Grin. (Sorry if I can no longer find the group, I guess it was renamed already). That's why I thought it will be pointless to create one.
233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why has no-one done a crypto Ebay? on: September 21, 2020, 01:49:19 AM
I know about some of the crypto ebay sites but I don't trust them.
Me too. Don't get me wrong, I am really hungry for a shop (whether physical or online) that accepts btc payments because until now I can't find a nearest one. However, you can't blame others, including me, if it's hard for me to appreciate them. You know, their name is not that big yet thus hard to believe in. Maybe they need more publicity, more advertisements so that they become more famous and build a stronger reputation Smiley.
234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inspirational gambling quotes. on: September 20, 2020, 10:54:59 AM
The only sure thing about luck is
that it will change.
Quite inspiring. It is like "The only permanent thing in this world is change" Grin. Yup! Luck is seasonal so we should really make the most of it when it came. You know, bet or play as much as you want as long as you are feeling lucky and everything seems flowing smoothly. Just be careful because it can be deceiving sometimes. It never fail to gives you hope despite of already losing in the actual scenario.

Thus, you should learn when to stop as well in order to protect your profits and do not end up broke. "Higher risks, higher rewards" kind of mindset does not produce good results at all times. Be a responsible gambler.
235  Economy / Economics / Re: Enough with BITCOIN SAVE us or the economy on: September 20, 2020, 04:51:29 AM
[snip]
Resetting the world's current system can be much more of a problem than the current situation of each countries economy, why? because people are not yet ready for it, i mean yes a lot of people can prove how much of convenience blockchain can offer us but people won't adapt to it as easily as you think, people now are comfortable with what they have and adapting to a new system can cause chaos and disorganized system
That's what I'm telling to inoes, that the future of our economy is still uncertain after introducing the use of blockchain tech as our major means of  transaction. The main barrier I see here is the lack of accessibility because not all people around the flobe can access a stable internet connection. So how about for the poor ones and the indigenous people? I guess it will be very complicated for them. And that being said, I cannot foresee that btc will replace physical money at least in the near future simply because it is a no brainer to use Smiley.
236  Economy / Economics / Re: Enough with BITCOIN SAVE us or the economy on: September 20, 2020, 01:54:12 AM
because some dumb people made everyone believe that Bitcoin is what’s going to save them.
Yup! These dumb people you are pertaining about is mostly new to crypto sphere — those people who see good in bitcoin but rooting too much from it. Well, I'm not saying that being positive and appreciating the potentials of btc isn't good. What is wromg is that you are now solely depending on it as if it was your last resort. Chill guys! Btc can aid us financially but our government plus the cooperation of its citizens are still the main key for the betterment of our economy Smiley.

to save the economy, Bitcoin needs to be approved by the world. because the current economy which controls is the bank. would the world want banks to be replaced by blockchain?
We're not really sure about it. We can't conclude what will happen beyond that, whether pros are greater tham cons and vice versa, unless all of the nations agreed upon it and reset the current system.
237  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't trade if you're inexperience rather stake your coins. on: September 19, 2020, 07:08:04 AM
Well, I'm not saying that staking is better than trading. Of course it depends on someone's preference. Do you want a sort of passive income but you don't hold your private keys (which you may find uncomfortable) or you hold your privates keys and depend on your own ttading strategy? It is up to you. What matters the most is the coin you will use. Make sure it is a good coin.

But in my opinion, I still go with trading. Though the potential of losing there is high, the chance of making profits there is high also as long as you buy/sell properly. Plus, you can earn faster here.

As an inexperience trader before now,  how do metamorphosed to become experience in trade?.
Dude, always remember that "Champions are not born, they are made." So keep on practice. Yeah you may loss money along the way but it will be worth it in the end as it brings you lessons which can make you a wiser trader Smiley.
238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My taught of plagiarism, spamming and scam in forum. on: September 19, 2020, 04:14:43 AM
If you notice the signature campaigns aren't idea to your posting behavior, resulting to you spamming just to meet up your weekly post qouta then abstain form joining any campaign.
100%, I don't think they will do it. Why? Because money is money. People will chase it even how hard it gets. Spammers/Sh*tposters will keep on thinking that if we can be able to earn through sig campaigns then of course they should as well. However, the sad fact is that it seems they are willing to swallow the toxicity they produced just for few bucks Undecided.

Well, that's life. Let's admit that bad posters will exist here forever. We can't totally eradicate it but I'm glad because Merit System is there. I'm hoping they will get tired of doing their stuff in due time.
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is Transparent in it if team behind the coin is anonymous on: September 19, 2020, 01:36:06 AM
I'm always like, why? Why would they prefer to stay anonymous. Is there any reason behind this or are they just copying satoshi?
Lol. What a lame reason in that case Grin. They want to look like satoshi? If they will then at least they tried to make an alias but they not. Why? Simply because they want to protect their true identity when thkngs get f*cked up. They don't tell their names so that no one can sue them after they pull off their bad agenda — to scam. As simple as that. So stay away frkm such projects as much as possible. They are not trustworthy at all.

But here comes a twist, sometimes scammers are getting smart because they also knew how to use fake identities to make their project believable so better research thoroughly. Ask here if necessary.
240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Problem Gambling in the wake of covid-19 on: September 18, 2020, 05:36:16 AM
Many people concentrate only on the economic and the direct effects of the pandemic, however the pandemic is going to have long term effects on the mental health of people, humans are not really designed to spend months isolated from each other, this has probably lead many to the path of depression, addiction and maybe even suicide
Yeah l! The frustration this pandemic brings to all of us is quite alarming. I mean, I don't actually bother because I'm used to stress (engineering life lol) but those people particularly the weak hearted extroverts are the ones who suffer the most. So I guess the best we can do is to look on the brighter side and take advantage of the plenty amount of time in our hands. Share moments with your family, focus on your passion, do recreational activities and the most important thing is pray. It will ease the pain Smiley. (You're unlucky if you live alone)

Keep holding on guys, we can make it!
