361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Blackmail E-mails on: August 17, 2020, 08:39:05 AM
These blackmail email has been existing long time ago and there are numerous articles that was published regarding this kind fraudulent activities and it seems they are still propagating on the internet up until now.
I'm glad it is all about mind games and not a form of serious blackmailing. Because if I'm the one who will be put in that situation, I can say that I would give in. I'm the kind of person which is fearless when it comes to investing but panic-stricken when it comes to any trouble Cheesy. I guess I need to study more, I realized that I'm not smart enough to become 100% resilient against all scams.
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Blackmail E-mails on: August 17, 2020, 05:45:23 AM
It's the same script that these scammers send from those leaked email databases that they have. Don't send any amount to that lazy person.
Okay, I think changing his password will work but how about his dirty little secrets? It will spill if he refuse. Don't get me wrong, I agree that he should not give money because the hacker will abuse him further but that sounds life threatening.

So my question is, Is this really a serious issue or just simple hacking incident done by a prankster and everything he said are all lies Huh?
363  Economy / Economics / Re: Warren Buffet bought “Gold” for the first time. When Bitcoin? on: August 17, 2020, 03:32:19 AM
With this logic, he'd buy "Bitcoin" - a stock of some company related to Bitcoin. Except he'll never do this, because he might view gold as useful, a thousand-year tested asset, but Bitcoin is a volatile, speculative "rat poison".
Most probably because we all know how allergic he is with the crypto stuff Grin. However, if he really got a true business mind then there's no way that he will not be interested on something which can give him profits. And bitcoin investing can do that! So I think he grabbed/grabs/will grab it (maybe he's not as vocal as the others because he want to take care of his reputation). It is just that Warren Buffet shows hatred to crypto maybe because he was not yet comfortable moving outside his empire Grin.
Maybe after Buffet will be gone his company will get into crypto, especially as crypto will become more established in the coming years.

364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Original Bitcoin Holder! HoDL HoDL HoDL on: August 16, 2020, 09:18:01 AM
finally I can fall asleep peacefully after knowing this person who made popular the word HODL, I am sure he has become a rich person now because he is holding bitcoins until now, it also looks like he will continue to hold bitcoin until another new ATH later
Congrats dude! Now you know that being a drunk doesn't result to trouble all the time, few results to cool invention/discoveries Grin. Wanna try? Lol

Kidding aside, there are only two possibilities happened. 1) Like what you've said, he made plenty of profits and live like a king right now or 2) Since he admitted that he is a bad trader, his frustration might influence him to surrender and forget about his holdings once and for all which made him broke today. I don't know what actually happened but my gut feel says the latter.
365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best performing "old" coins on the market? on: August 16, 2020, 06:26:25 AM
Hmm, I'll go for eth. I mean, I choose it not only because of the upcoming eth 2.0 but mainly because it remains 2nd until now. For me, that speaks a lot. We can say that he is the strongest in the alt category.

[snip]
[snip]

Hmmmm. Something’s fishy here, you both mispell Ethereum, Join on same signature campaign, post on same thread with same thoughts? What a coincidence though.  Roll Eyes
I can't blame you to think that way because that was very unusual Grin. Look at chikator's trust history, he got a negative feedback due to long inactivity then suddenly woke up. Most probably the account was hacked or bought. For that reason, I think it's not impossible that bbcolex was an alt of him.
366  Economy / Economics / Re: Lithuania President gifted crypto to Estonian President. on: August 16, 2020, 04:30:14 AM
FYI Estonian president is a she. And the gift wasn't some popular crypto like Bitcoin or ETH, it was collectible government-issued crypto coins called LBCOIN. It's not meant to be used for payment, it's just a collectible, you can read about it here. So don't view it as some sort of sign of official adoption for Bitcoin - this wasn't even about crypto, it was more about "blockchain technology".
Cool nonetheless. I think what is more important for us to see is that Lithuania and Estonia's president initiate dealing with the blockchain tech. Take note that those two are not just ordinary people, they are presidents — the man with greatest influence within a country. Thus I'm feeling good about this, their citizens will surely get triggered by this news and now get into crypto as well. And as a result, our community will grow further Smiley.
367  Other / Meta / Re: Free Advertising, YES or NO on: August 16, 2020, 02:43:23 AM
How do you feel about that? Do you think it is OK that you just advertised a service for free and weren't selected in the campaign in the end?
As long as you did it based on your own will or you are not forced to do so then I think there's nothing wrong with that. Actually, prospective participants tend to do it simply because they want to impress the manager. Yeah I know CM still depends on one's activity, merit and everything but he is more interested to those applications with "Wear signature: Yes" than "Wear signature: Will do after getting accepted" most of the time. However, such act gives no guarantee but only an increase to your chance Smiley.
Do you think it shouldn't be a requirement (mostly it isn't anyway) to wear an avatar/sig until you are accepted?
That's not the point I think. Whether it is required or not, there is no specific rule for that thus you can do it freely.
368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: With this recent surge in BTC, is it possible to have all time high this year? on: August 16, 2020, 01:00:02 AM
....This might not be far from the upcoming halving happening in the next 13 days...
Wait, am I missed something very crucial here? Will there be another halving after happened the last May of this year? I think several times but I do not find this news about the next halving in next 13 days. hello OP< are you wake up and stay here? Please confirm it. Or did you miss the news update and you thought that it is still on the past news update? Or I that missed this information?
I want to ask the same thing and now having a doubt on what I know Cheesy. But I'm very sure that there will be no next halving this year simply because this event only happens every 4 years. And for that reason, that was impossible for it to happen again next next week. Maybe OP is confused or he simply copy-pasted his post from previous posts.

With regards to new ATH, I also don't think it will hapoen this year. Though btc's bullish run continues, the remaining time for it this year is small already. I don't think it will make it in less than 4 months. I guess the least price it can achieve is maybe somewhere around $15k (I'm not sure either lol).
369  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk posting etiquette on: August 15, 2020, 10:15:21 AM
You don't need to quote if you are replying to a post that is immediately above your reply.
Oh! I'm guilty of this one but not totally Grin. For me, I used to quote the post above mine to avoid confusion. To show that I'm reacting to the statement of that particular member not on OP's.

But unlike the others, I do not quote the whole post especially when it is long. I only pick the sentence or phrase I want to emphasize (like what I did right now). But if there's an instance that the thought will lose once you cut some of its parts then I simply use [snip] or [...] so that the thread will not flood.

I guess my way still had a right etiquette. What do you think?
370  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is the best site to earn from referrals on: August 15, 2020, 07:55:05 AM
it's not asking for deposit it's ok if it's asking the referral for watching a video or do some easy jobs like clicks or something
Probaby there is, but it seems a micro earning and I think it's just wasting your time. Probably there is also a minimum amount before you can withdraw.
Yeah! This would probably happen to you OP if you still insist. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against referrals but I think we can consider it as one of the most inefficient ways of earning (same with faucets). The amount of your earnings there only depends on how charismatic you are Cheesy unlike to trading and gambling where everything depends on how you grind. Yeah! Sounds easy but do you think it is really worth of your time? I don't think so. I hope you will realize this soon.
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If someone mistakenly sent you 1 ETH, what would you do? on: August 15, 2020, 05:20:40 AM
But since crypto is widely unregulated, anyone can do as they please.
Oh yes! This can significantly adds up to the persuading power of the tiny devil whispering on youtr left ear Grin. Well, I won't be surprised if many refuse to give it back because it's really tempting not only knowing that 1 eth is a huge money but also the fact you might not be traced personally.

However, being a good human in nature, you should practice what is right and just even without the eyes of others looking at you. So if I'm on that situation, I will send it back especially that we are all in these trying times. I ought to do it becaus se don't know how much 1 eth means to him.  Besides, I'm not desperate to have money in the first place lol.
372  Other / Meta / Re: Battling against scammers?? on: August 15, 2020, 02:17:00 AM
Hacking is one difficult problem to solve because they too are careful being caught. Not only that hackers work is very innovative like those copying an interface of a certain program installed in your device needed for an upgrade but it is only to download and install malware programs.
Hmm, actually they are not so careful like what you think. I mean, for me they are so brave on pulling off scams because they knew that the escape plan was easy to execute. All they need to do is to set a false promise, wait for people to be deceived, reach the peak of the hype then exit.

Who would sue? Who's gonna be sued? And where to raise a complain anyway? These are the questions which are hard to answer thus serve a hindrance for all the victims to get justice and make fraudsters to be complacent Sad. That is what I meant of the word "brave".
Is anyone here trying to organize a taskforce to battle against scammers? I do believe it can help theymos a lot by just sharing info regarding on scammer and hackers activity in a thread. I hope so someone will make a thread for it.
Like the others said, there is no specific team fighting such crimes (we only got Spambusters hehe). But I think Reputation and Scam Accusation Section works good so that all of us can gather there and fight these scams.
373  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to avoid high transaction fee on: August 14, 2020, 09:11:07 AM
And in the other hand I believe you shouldn't even think of making a small transaction amount while knowing that the fee will take out half of it.
I guess this is the least thing you can do. Make out the most of your fee so withdraw as large as you can. Because you can't do anything when it comes to network fee, you can't stop miners to demand for an increase. It's either you will compromise the speed of the transaction or your budget, the choice is yours Wink.

But when we talk about the crypto who got the lowest fees then ripple would be one of the best option. So better to convert your btc/eth into xrp first before you withdraw (assuming the wallet you used suppots xrp as well).
374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is FORSAGE a Ponzi scheme? on: August 14, 2020, 07:27:18 AM
Is FORSAGE a Ponzi scheme?
Yeah! Like what others said, it was debunked almost two months ago already. You can take this as another reference/proof: Beware: FORSAGE another scheme (Ponzi)

With regards to buying eth, better to use Coins.ph dude. Then hodl or do spot trading in coins pro. I guess that's the best option you can have instead of trusting on new investment platforms. Good luck kabayan Smiley.
375  Other / Meta / Re: Is your Bitcointalk password strong enough? on: August 14, 2020, 04:14:11 AM
Okay, I get bothered right now because I can't believe that my password is very close on the verge of getting hacking. I thought that setting long series of numbers alone is enough to be considered strong because that's what I used to know especially when i use the same pw format when playing online games. They told me it was "strong" after I sign up. My whole life is a lie Undecided. Thanks for the info OP, it's better to change my pw now than to be sorry.

Ps: Done changing, keep safe guys Smiley.
376  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How hard would it be to brute force an address. (Numerically) on: August 14, 2020, 01:42:50 AM
In my opinion, sooner or later computers will be so efficient that they will perform these calculations so quickly that the whole process will take no more than 30 minutes, instead of an infinite number of years, as indicated in the author's post.
Maybe, I am somehow confident that quantum computers can do that. However, I don't think hackers could affort to have one just for brute forcing wallet addresses Grin. Now I know why they use other efficient means of hacking and set this as their last resort lol.
And yeah,OP's post is useless and it doesn't belong to the Bitcoin discussion forum. It should be moved to Technical discussion,I guess.
How ironic that you find his post useless but suggest him to move it into a board with lots of sophisticated discussions. Don't be so mean dude Smiley. Actually, I find it cool because it gives us awareness of how hard to brute force (and somehow encourage us to not attempt doing such bad thing). Still a nice piece of knowledge.
377  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you a man or ...? Buy something right now ! on: August 13, 2020, 11:54:08 PM
I don't know if you are serious to this one or just spreading good vibes with sarcasm intended, but I think doing all the things you wanted without considering the circumstances is not the right standard for you to be called a man. It is a sign of irresponsibility (just my opinion tho).

Actually, my phone is now on its salvage value Grin. It shut down yesterday and I'm in the verge of buying new one (besides, it's 5 yrs. old already so why not?). However, I still refuse to do so even I got money. Why? Simply because of the pandemic. I can't prioritize the wants over the needs, as long as my phone is working for another next 5 years then I'm fine with it. At my current status, I can't secure my future if I have the mindset of "live like a king now, live like a poor later).

(By the way, I like the song Smiley.)
378  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How you can earn money from bitcointalk.org? on: August 13, 2020, 12:19:06 PM
I think most of the people who are joining this forum every day want to make money from this forum. But not many people know how to make money from this forum.
Dude, look on your statement, the idea of those two sentences are countering each other Grin. How funny isn't it? And for that, I will not definitely believe that many people are still unaware of the opportunities here. Look, even the first words of most newbies here mentioned the words "signature/bounty campaigns".

Anyway, when it comes to my reason, I came here because my friend told me that I can earn. But as I grow older here, I found out that there is more worthy than weekly payments. I am enjoying this forum not mainly because of the money but also because of the knowledge and entertainment I get here. I hope that's what every next members' mindset would be — that they learn to more prioritize cultivating their mind than allowing too much greed for fast money Smiley.
379  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Investing In Crypto Genuine Better Than Trading Forex on: August 13, 2020, 06:22:36 AM
Hmm, I will not get biased but I think we can't fearlessly say that forex is better than crypto trading in general. Every investors got their own interests, we should respect that. If you find that you are not well suited to forex but okay with crypto then that's great, at least you realized something before losing money further Cheesy. Follow the field where you excel.

But you know what, I want to try forex trading in the future as well. Though it was more technical than the other one, I still like it because it challenges me. You know, there's nothing wrong of being versatile. Whether it's fiat or crypto, money is money baby Wink.
380  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: which is a good option?? Trade or Hodl on: August 13, 2020, 03:36:42 AM
If you got the right amount of coin, I mean you got many though not plenty, then do spot trading. Much better to make the most of it instead of waiting for the price to rise because you might wake up missing everything Cheesy. Because for me the tokens nowadays are not the same as the old coins, they can't sustain a stable price for a very long time. Once the large majority of holders dump, you can expect that the coin is already near its down fall. So for me, take a risk and play on the exchange.
