Does seem a little odd to produce a device slower than a good (2 year old) GPU or FPGA device.
Yes I do realise the chips in both ASICs (ASICMINER and Avalon) are slower than a good GPU or FPGA, but the point of them is that there are lots and cost less per MH/s and use less power per MH/s
Connecting 10 devices to a computer via USB is gonna be problematic for some - USB cables need to be good quality and so do the hubs
There are a lot of cheap crappy USB hubs out there - especially when the hubs need to supply power to 10 devices ...
Its not slower. Devices are not measured in MH/s, they are measured in MH/s per watt. That device uses 2.5 watts. A GPU that does 300 mhash uses 125-150 watts. The reason GPUs are becoming unprofitable is not because they are slow, but because cost of power usage exceeds the value of the coins. |

Really nice... i think if those are auctioned too it would allow the small users to buy a miner too. But i dont know if it really will maximize the revenue for Asicminer because it looks like way more work has to be done for one single chip. On the other hand... if the real miners are too big then only few can afford it which would lead to a lower price per GH. I hope you find a balanced result.  I hope thats not going to be the only one you're selling. I'd like to buy one of the full scale boards you've been racking. Even if I have to pay all 36 BTC I have to buy one.
You await that you can buy a miner with 36BTC? What hashrate do you await for this? Or do you want to take part in a groupbuy? I think the miners wont be small so that most users wont have the money and have to go group buy route. The large scale boards that friedcat has has something like 24 or 36 chips on them, and Bitcoin is already going to cross $100 again. |

how many hash could this chips run? 22nm should be fast and low cost power consumption, lets hope the price is reasonable lol ......... Wild speculation: They can probably fit 5 hashing cores and run faster than a spartan 6...maybe 1 to 2 gh/s in total. Could be way off. Hard to guess about the power usage. They might be worth it, if they're cheap and the btc price stays high. Well, you'd use rolled cores n this. So you potentially have hundreds of cores on this chip. |

Namworld, the BTC owned by the shareholders is now worth more than 430 000 USD, where we could be purchasing many more TH of equipment by now.
I dont think you can just say its loaned to some other guy and leave it at that. Can you?

Hi, folks. I haven't been mining in a while--long enough that I had to unban myself--but I ran into problems (lots of obscure Java errors) running the older version of DM I had installed. So I upgraded to the latest version (linked at the top of this thread). Now I'm getting complaints about "unparsable JSON" when I try to mine (see below). Am I doing something obviously wrong? Right. Great info, but I'm more concerned with what's showing up on my electric bill. The Avalon guys are reporting 620ish watts @ 68Gh/s on 120v and I think Ngzhang has a post around here somewhere about savings with 220v circuitry. Sounds like a shipped ASICMiner concoction will be similar. it is always more efficient to run higher voltage when possible. that is why you seek 3 phase when you buy a building, it saves on your power bill and you run your lighting at 277 and motors at 460. Most states give you a credit because you put inside your own transformers. It is usually around 10% off the industrial rate so you end up paying 6.2 cents here vs. 7.3 industrial and 11 cent residential Unless you're a datacenter that does 48v DC, which is even more efficient than the usual 208v three phase. |

Please, Please move heaven and earth to get the chips deployed ASAP. I am not convinced that selling hardware is best now... I should rather see the hardware be deployed, right now, mining for us.

They have problems with getting the need power supply and network problems. They wouldnt decide to sell units if these problems wouldnt be serious or could be repaired fast because selling units wont bring the same money than hashing yourself. And they didnt want to sell before. So i dont doubt the problems. Its a pity that it cant be repaired fast but no one outside knows exactly whats the problem. Does GLBSE/nefario still owe ASICMINER any BTC?
Yes. 1688.188 BTCGLBSE wasn't incorporated, it was Nefario sole prop. Probably worth the legal fees to get a judgment against him personally. Maybe garnish some wages or something. (I'm not sure how it works over in the UK?) I'd happily trade that if he spent the rest of his life in jail over multiple counts of securities fraud over this. I'd be worth it, every dime. |
