221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Beterbiev vs. Bivol - Undisputed Light Heavyweight Championship on: March 23, 2024, 09:11:50 AM
It is looking like these will be the undercard fights. Turki Alalshikh once again putting together a really great stacked card. Wilder and Zhang both lost to Joseph Parker but their styles are perfectly matched for each other. I don’t expect them to throw a lot of punches but we will likely see each of them put all their power behind every shot in an attempt to end the fight with a single punch.

Thanks for this, yes it another great under card to us boxing fans brought to us by Turki Alalshikh. So I guess the Zhang vs Parker is postponed. And Parker can't do anything about it but just the bragging rights that he beat both of them, hehehe.

But in any case, this might not go to the full 12 rounds and judges score card is moot. But are power punches, and so even shot is an attempt to score a big knock out. Hopefully, Wilder can still pull the trigger here and it's good to see him back in the HW division. If he wins then more fights will surely come in again for him, fight with AJ is the one that we are looking for.
222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where is the fun when you lose your money? on: March 23, 2024, 08:38:32 AM
There's no fun when losing money, it always takes away the fun and makes us frustrated and stressed. Well, for some, they find fun in the process of gambling itself, regardless whether they win or lose. For them it's about he risks and adrenaline rush, and social aspect of betting with friends. That's how they see fun when losing money when gambling.

But if you have money to burn and wanted to enjoy, maybe just a couple of bucks wouldn't hurt you right? And it might bring out the stress in you when playing slots hehehe. And I have seen old people even in wheelchair still playing in land base casinos, because they know that they can't bring this riches when they go out so why not play and enjoy gambling when you are alive?

The thing is that there are people who says they gamble for fun, but at the end of the day, they can't afford to lose their money already. So it's a very different scenario. So I guess there is still some fun to us when we play.
223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: March 23, 2024, 08:08:21 AM
Miami -3
Ingram is out and Miami needs a win. Miami has 2 straight losses at home, they need to prevent that streak and win this game.

Miami Heat another disappointing loss. Damn, thinking it was easy since Ingram was out but it turns out it was a one sided game. I'm sure lots of bettors here fall on that trap. Miami just forgot how to play in the 2nd half which they are outscored by the visiting team. I don't care if their ranking will drop a bit because they'll still be in the play-in but this losing by 20+ points is just ridiculous.

Yes, I stir away from this game as I'm not feeling good with Miami. However, put some line on the Cavs against the Wolves. And I thought the Cavs has a better chance and make the games closer.

So I guess for tonight's game, some are predictable but there are games that is really hard to score. I must needed win for the Warriors, but it turns another L for them. They are making themselves sink in the standings and that could allow the Houston Rockets to overtake them if they continue being inconsistent and losing games that they could have won.
224  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: March 23, 2024, 07:53:31 AM

Kidding aside, i will tail this bet of yours kasi malas ako kung ako yong pipili eh. Sana swertehen tayo ngayon, tingin ko naman mananalo yong Heat kasi pagod pa siguro tong Pelicans sa laro nila kahapon.

@Baofeng, congrats sa panalo bai.

225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Navarrete Vs Berinchyk Vacant WBO World Lightweight Title May 18 2024 on: March 22, 2024, 12:05:41 PM
Wow! Emanuel Navarrete is really keen on becoming a 4 division world champion. Navarrete has vast experience when it comes to world title fights so he should be the favorite here but lately he is also showing signs of vulnerability. He was badly hurt in his first fight at 130 before changing the tide of the fight and was also losing on points on his last fight but thanks to his 2 knockdowns he settled for a draw.

I always hear Berinchyk's name but I haven't seen his fights. He is an Olympic silver medalist so he is armed with good skills. Sadly he does not have the fan base and was probably managed poorly. It took him 9 years before earning his first title shot. At 35, Berinchyk is physically not the same but maybe being the regular guy in this weigh class enables him to become stronger than Navarette who loves to come forward.

Me thinking as well that Navarette might be swallowing more than he can chew. 135 lbs is pretty much stack up right now, so props to him for moving up in weight very quickly. He might win this fight, but who will be next, Tank Davis is the face of this division, but there's Zepeda, Frank Martin or Loma.

So we will see how far can Navarette, no doubt that he has the tools, power and being a brawler, but this new weight class would be very different for him as there are more technical fighters that he might face in the future.

He is a very disciplined fighter and he wants to challenge himself so he is moving up to cover more territories but I believe this is the farthest that he can go, there are a lot of oppositions in the higher weight category and I don't think he has all that it takes to beat the like of Tank Davis or Loma.

Everybody wants to be like Manny Pacquiao the 8 division World Champion, but so far I have not seen a fighter of this generation, who can do this, you have to start in the Flyweight division and have a good muscle build-up to be able to sustain going up, and of course, you have to be an extraordinary fighter like Manny Pacquiao and of course lucky break.

I would've preferred Navarrete to unify all the belts and become the first undisputed at 130 in the 4-belt era. But it is hard to make because of the politics in the sport.

Loma is already old so maybe Navarrete has a chance. Tank is a coward but seeing Navarrete becoming beatable in his last fights, he will jump on the opportunity. I see Shakur as the real dog at 135.

8 division is difficult to break. It would take generations to break or even tie it. If there is someone that has the potential at this moment, it is the undefeated Junto Nakatani of Japan. Still 26, has the height, heavy handed, has great skills and is already a 3 division champion.

That should be the goal of Navarette, however, when he had that moment against Liam Wilson that me might lose his belt, maybe it's a wake up call for him. Although he had a good win against Oscar Valdez, but against Robson he is again very close of being defeated.

So he jump to the next weight class, had a chance to become a champion again. But after this, it's going to be a challenge as other big punchers in this division will go after him because of the WBO belt.
226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever done something crazy to bet? on: March 22, 2024, 11:26:29 AM
Hi community,

I remember when I was in middle school, we used to play cards almost every day, and our stupidity reached the point where we would skip classes while we were inside school. The method of playing was easy, as the largest number was the winning card. So, some of my friends and I would gather in the middle school bathroom and make bets with the money that we had collected  from selling cigarettes.
Of course, this is not something I am proud of and I do not recommend it to everyone, but it's just childhood memories .

-Have you ever bet at the wrong place and the wrong time?

Of course, as a gambler for many years, lots of experience during elementary to high days. But even if I'm already working, me and may friends will go out on our lunch break and go to the nearest casinos and play until 1 pm and then go back to work again.

Or instances that we will spend more than the allotted break time as we all enjoy. But for childhood memories, there's a lot as well, bringing cards in school and then we will gamble with a game similar to baccarat and we call it "lucky-9".
227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Beterbiev vs. Bivol - Undisputed Light Heavyweight Championship on: March 22, 2024, 10:37:49 AM
And after almost 3 weeks, there's no movement in the odds,

Beterviev @1.86 and Bivol @1.88. At least it's good to have this kind of checkpoint before the odds and see who will be the favorite. But as we have been discussing, this is 50/50 and fight fans are still divided as to where their bets will be.

The fight is still very far, and if we are looking for more listing of the odds, we will have to wait. But in any case, we can bet this early as ML is also very attractive.  Smiley
228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 22, 2024, 10:18:30 AM
And the Rockets win streak continues.....

Though I don't expect too much they'll even make it to the play-in but they are just doing what they need to do. Ever since Sengun got injured it seems like Green's performance has been so consistent too, and he is leading the win in most of this win streak I guess.

I don't know.. but I have a feeling that we can't touch this Rockets ( bet against) now that they are on a big run. Warriors should be worried with what is happening as slowly the Rockets are inching close to them, we don't want to see a championship team unable to make it even in the play-in tournament, that's a confidence killer for Curry and the crew.

Yeah, you have to appreciate what the Rockets is doing right now, they are fighting in every game and wanted to least catch the Warriors. And Green is really playing very good right now, several of his highlights are making it to the social media and they are gaining that momentum.

Definitely, Warriors should be worried as the Rockets is making a move against them. And if they don't win at least in their next 3 games and the Rockets still have that winning streak, they could be tie or Houston has a better record at the end of the post season.
229  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: March 22, 2024, 09:35:04 AM

230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 21, 2024, 10:51:10 AM
Canelo has poured cold water on the idea of facing David Benavidez anytime in the near future. He is demanding $150–200 million to accept that fight.

When Alvarez, 33, was asked if Benavidez was the next biggest fight that could be made, he said, "Maybe. Who knows? But he brings nothing to the table for me. He just brings 25 extra pounds on the night of the fight. That’s it. He has nothing to offer me, anything. I’m the one … If a promoter who I work with offers $150 to $200 million, then I'll fight tomorrow. That's the only reason I'll fight with him.”

When you make a demand that ridiculous it is obvious you don’t want to make the fight. PBC and DAZN have recently rejected Canelo’s proposed fights against Charlo and Berlanga, which is an indication of his declining marketability. Pricing himself out is nothing more than an admission of being scared to lose. Canelo vs. Benavidez would be a huge deal but it doesn’t have the historic significance of an undisputed heavyweight fight, which is the only thing that can come close to being worth those kinds of purses.

So we must say that he is clearly ducking Benavidez, maybe he thinks that he can really lose to David as he is young, ambitious and has all the physical advantage over him. It's just not good to see Canelo shifting, taking easy fight for millions, we thought that him being a Mexican and fighting with pride and cementing his legacy.

Now he is out there just for money and specially after that Bivol lost, he does not want to take risk anymore and get another L in his record. Maybe a promoter is going to work and pay him that kind of money, specially the oil money from Saudis, but it's obvious now that he is avoiding Benavidez like a plague.

And these ducking will continue along with a lot of fighters especially on the popular ones. The sport changed a lot when Mayweather showed the world that you can earn big money even if they choose the less dangerous opponents. Even Benavidez will also duck when he's got more options.

The issue of ducking and these politics in boxing can only be addressed if the 4 sanctioning bodies will be true to their rules and regulations. The WBA and the WBC are already notorious when it comes to corruption. The IBF once known as the strictest of them also changed. I pick the WBO as the best of the these sanctioning bodies at the moment.

It's the people behind these organizations that really hurt, or at least boxing fans was not able to see the fights that we wanted to see because this bodies outright refusing to make their champions fight their mandatories.

So it's going to be a vicious cycle for this boxers, unless the two really settled their differences, or one party willing to give the other one some advantage. Like in the Ryan Garcia vs Tank Davis fight wherein there is a clause about rehyrdation which is obviously not fair for Ryan. But since he really wanted that fight and so they give in the demand and he eventually lost the fight.
231  Economy / Speculation / Re: Road to 100k? on: March 21, 2024, 10:20:06 AM
It's already happening, we can see the correction, Bitcoin dropping from price $73k to $69k withing a limited time gap. We should be getting ready to witness another new price mark once we get out of this correction, we may touch the $80k price value in no distant time. The correction is a building block to achieving another whole new all time high.

I never saw Bitcoin going back down to $69k all the way from $73k and if the correction has been made why going back to an amount we have left few weeks ago? Is some how not approaching the expected amount to me. But I still hope to witness a surprising amount like you said, if we get to see the market price still at $73k till tomorrow and not going back down to $72k or $71k then it would be a step up to either $74-75k or even above that, but for now the market price is a bit slow.
Seeing Bitcoin at $67k, most people are already scared and wondering how DIP the market has gone from $73k to what it is now, which it doesn't call for becoming worried, likely we should have expected something much like this to happen, the road to $100k is smooth but aswell not that much smoother than we expected. Market corrections like this are bound to happen, to help strengthen the price movement during the pump to making all time high.

Nah, I don't think we need to be scared of this dip, $67k is still big pre-halving price though, although we have reach $73k but what we are seeing is just another correction. It is bound to happen and it's good though so that we can get back in the market at this dip.

So far it has bounce back, I wouldn't be surprised that by Monday or next week we will be back to $70k and then the bulls going to push it as high as they can. Institutional money and obviously retail as the one pouring everything. We just had to take a break this weekend, that's it.
Same, I wouldn't be scared even seeing the current price at $65k is not enough to send fear up my spine, it's something common to the Bitcoin market. I would not mind the level of correction the market may take, down to $50k still okay, not enough to panick.

Probably, we may get back so quickly, I hope it happens very soon cause I have a target for Bitcoin getting up to $80k before the halving, just a cheeky thing I would love to see happen Cheesy

Good to hear that mate, but there could be investors, a newbie that might get nervous seeing the price goes down to $62k or even lower and then make that wrong decision to sell at that price. We've bounce back, not that big but still the price is not pegged at $67k.

So just imagine the feeling of those who sold and then seeing the price going back this week and almost touching $70k again. So I wouldn't be surprised that they might regret their decision. But take that as a learning experience, to not panic but just have enough patience to wait and see things settling down about that big correction.
232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Friends engaging on P2P gambling insights grudges amongst themselves on: March 21, 2024, 09:50:18 AM
It's competition between two, so what you do expect? specially friends who have known each other so there will be a lot of trash talking and what not. And for sure, they want to beat each other, in a P2P battle.

Its OK to have the competition, to have a fight and express the emotions with the casinos where they are playing the P2P. After the game, they should be back to normal friends and walk out of the casino happily. If the tension between them continues even after they leave the casino, then it is something not expected of them. Sad

Yes, that's what I'm expecting to my friends as well, even in a pick up games, let's say NBA and there are money on the line which usually does, we tend to become competitive and we forget that we are friends.

And it wouldn't be a good game if you treat him as friends and allow him to win isn't it? Just leave the tension behind after and stay cool with each them. Been with this kind of games before and I never encounter not even friends that keep the emotions after the game itself. Be just a sport and that's it.
233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 21, 2024, 09:05:54 AM
One thing I do wonder is the Rockets, looks like they are on a great winning streak and getting closer and closer to Warriors, just 2 win difference, and I think that can be closed with how many players Warriors are missing. Could it happen? I do not know, they played some easy games, and the end stretch of their games looks like against weaker teams. If they can do that, it would be the first playoffs since a while, since the whole Harden era, and these are still very young players, so that would be awesome for them to get that experience.

Plus, Alperen may come back by that time, and if they do that then they could actually play well. Not saying that they will get the position, of course they may not, but at least it looks like we are going to see them end up having a chance, should be very good to see.

If they continue winning games and Warriors continue to struggle there's still chance that they can reached the play-in and yes it was way back Harden Era when they've last compete in the playoffs,  they added new sets of players who contributed well  though their rally might be not enough for the season but like what you said they are still composed of young generation stars and if they keep this squad and there's no changes that take place they can matured more and start moving forward for their chase to win again the title.
We will have to see how his injury his improving, initial reports looks good, but we all know that there are teams who didn't report the full extend of the injuries of their players. I think the Warriors is going full throttle in the last remaining games in this post season and at least extend their season with a play-in. And if they get there, then good for them, just take it a day at a time. Warriors need to win though, they are just 2 games ahead of the Rockets. At least they have control, just play solid games and since Curry is back, chances are they could be in the winning column again.

Warriors already won tonight's game, and so they kept a good separation between them and the Rockets with 3 games ahead of them. The thing with the Warriors is that they are not a road team, haven't check their schedule but if they are going to travel it might be hard for them to win, just saying.

Tonight's game is in their homecourt, and so they win huge double digit margin. But then again they face a team without Ja Morant and Memphis has struggled. Next stop for them is against the Wolves away from home. So very hard for them to win as Wolves is one of the best team in the West.

Naka tsamba ulit, player props naman ang strategy go, Jared Allen to score 16.5+, @1.80.

235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 20, 2024, 10:28:25 AM
Very close game between the Denver and Wolves, ANT had another of his fantastic game but he missed a game trying three points that will force the game into OT. Jokic takes advantage as Gobert is not in uniform and so he started very active and probably his lowest assists for this season at 2.

But him and Porter made clutch basket in the last 5 minutes. And although the Wolves try to make a comeback with back to back threes to close the gap, their FT is enough to get a good separation and ANT didn't convert.

Very competitive game for the wolves despite being undermanned. They manage to make it a close game despite Denver able to take control early. No 2 big men for the team, still they could almost get a win and could give another L for the Nuggets who loss to the Mavs from Irving's winning shot.

I agree that ANT is really good but honestly (no offense), this guy is not a clutch player, so probably 40% success rate only will be given to him based on my personal assessment.

Jokic really played it very well, no Gobert in the middle and so every opportunity they can get to have a switch and let a smaller Wolves guard him, it's automatic 2 points for him in the paint.

ANT just need to be clutch though, very emotional but he needs to cool down in the stretch. If he could only nail that 3, and force OT, the result might be different as it looks like they have the momentum already in that game. They just run out of time chasing the Nuggets in the last minute.
236  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Canelo Alvarez - Jaime Munguia May 4 Super Middleweight Championship on: March 20, 2024, 09:52:10 AM
And this is the kick off press conference in LA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9AOiXOqK_c

Everything looks relax, Munguia looks very young here as compare to Canelo, Lol. But we should really expect a war here, both are Mexicans. Canelo also explains why he chooses Munguia as he said that he won't be fighting another Mexican.

Canelo is still a huge favorite but for sure, Mexicans are going to be proud of this fight in their holiday.
237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20 on: March 20, 2024, 09:13:14 AM
The fight should have been staged in Las Vegas it just so happens that Haney hails from Vegas and The Golden Boy promotion doesn't want Haney to have a crowd advantage, while Garcia's fan base is in California you just can't imagine fans from these two regions going to New York to watch Garcia, they should have held it on locations closest to Vegas and California.

It's still a whole month before the fight, and the two guys are now sober with each other on their last face-off there's no more shoving going on, I also believe that the ticket will be sold out, they need to promote it to New Yorkers, whatever the outcome of the sales this will still become a legacy fight for both fighter, there should be no excuse for both guys as there is no dehydration clause involved on their contract.

Haney is just living in Las Vegas but he is also a Cali guy like Ryan. Which is why Haney made a huge return in California against Prograis in his last fight. I believe Ryan wanted the fight to happen in Vegas because the tickets could be more expensive.

We'll see if the tickets will be sold out. I still believe that Ryan is not ready for a title fight and he might back out here. Haney will win easily against Ryan and maybe even a knockout due the disparity of skills. 3 division world champion Shakur Stevenson also announced his willingness to replace Ryan on the said date.

It could be very well in Vegas there is no income tax, that's why Floyd made it home and most of the fights happen here as obviously, there will be no cut from the money that this boxers are getting. And Ryan has been seen lately with Floyd and maybe he just wanted to stay close with him.

But we will have to wait and see, still good to see Shakur vs Haney, this two has also been talking back and forth and we thought that they would be facing each other, until Haney goes up to 140 lbs and faces Regis Prograis.

No wonder Ryan wanted the fight to happen in Vegas as well because I heard there is a high tax rate in the US. Plus high ticket prices and Vegas is nearer to Mexico and southern states that has vast Latino population.

I have to check though regarding the tax in New York in combat sports,

Quote
If you promote boxing, sparring, or wrestling events
The gross receipts from boxing, sparring, and wrestling events are taxed as follows:

The gross receipts from ticket sales are taxed at 3%, and the maximum amount of tax due per event may not exceed $50,000.
The gross receipts from broadcasting rights are taxed at 3%, and the maximum due per event may not exceed $50,000.
If you promote kick boxing, single discipline martial arts, or MMA events
The gross receipts from kick boxing, single discipline martial arts, and MMA events are taxed as follows

The gross receipts from ticket sales are taxed at 8.5%, with no maximum amount of tax due per event.
The sum of the gross receipts from broadcasting rights and gross receipts from digital streaming over the Internet is taxed at 3%, and the maximum amount of tax due per event may not exceed $50,000.
Before September 1, 2016, only gross receipts from boxing, sparring, and wrestling events were subject to tax.

https://www.tax.ny.gov/bus/acst/auth_combat_sports_tax.htm

Actually it's not that big as well, but yeah, probably it's his fan based that he wanted not to travel. As they are most likely in the West Coast as most American-Mexican live there. And Garcia is banking that his fans wanted to see his fight live and will go and paid tickets if the fight is in Las Vegas. Not saying that they won't in New York, but the travel time might be the issues with them.

I think it's enough to return what ever he wants to his friends. And at the end of the day, most likely they will still be friends. It's that their fiercely competitor and just like in any other sports, you have to beat the other guy no matter what.
