Oops.
2202  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: WARNING: If you give pirateat40 a signed reciept for passthru bonds, you're fuck on: August 31, 2012, 04:11:21 AM
Stick with your passthru operator for a maximum settlement.

Or potentially no payment at all due to bankruptcy.  Roll Eyes
2203  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bitcoinica Consultancy abandons customers. Bitcoinica to enter Liquidation on: August 31, 2012, 12:59:34 AM
Amir is too busy doing youtube interviews to be bothered with doing the right thing for all the Bitcoinica customers.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dPAAM_5Dkg

Patrick is too busy threatening me over the lawsuit to be bothered to do the right thing and actually avoid the lawsuit in the process.

[18:31:12] <phantomcircuit> ......, suggest to him strongly to drop the suit
[18:31:23] <phantomcircuit> he's going to regret it more than anything he's ever done in his entire life
[18:32:11] <phantomcircuit> that's a promise

Is there any end to Patrick's sheer arrogance?  He's not well placed to be threatening anyone.

God I hope that someone at the 2012 conference streams his presentation live.  I suspect that his audience won't be entirely "respectful" during his presentation.

Supreme, irredeemable asshole would be the most appropriate tag for Patrick.

We're streaming it live ^_^
2204  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: August 31, 2012, 12:32:04 AM
I've bought pirate debt to hedge this bet.

Talk about irresponsible.  Roll Eyes

Wait wait wait...you mean...PinkiePie and Bitcoiners, two SomethingAwful trolls don't appreciate me? WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED THAT. lulz.
2206  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: August 30, 2012, 02:29:25 PM
Matthew, do you still believe in winning the bet?

Let's see, what did we know when I made the bet?

  • Potentially shady operation with no transparency whatsoever and a chance that no one would ever get paid back
  • Payments were late and would take time to be paid back

And what do we know now?

  • Potentially shady operation with no transparency whatsoever and a chance that no one would ever get paid back
  • Payments were late and would take time to be paid back

Since nothing has changed since I made the bet, and there is still plenty of time left on the bet, why would I feel any different? The only time I'll feel different is on September 10th.
2207  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Closed on: August 30, 2012, 02:16:45 PM
I have started a thread where lenders that wish can give their information to pirate.

What are you getting yourself into?
What do you mean?

I mean: why would pirateat40 accept any information regarding bitcoinmax users coming from someone who isn't payb.tc?

This.

some group  but i dont think he would tarnish his own rep by being  a representative for something dishonest like BTC  market manipulation

Never. It's just a forum bet. There is nothing seedy or sinister involved.

well ,if you say its above board   ,that good enough for me

you really increased the limit  from  10K BTC to 35k though ?

i thought you  capped it  and then i come back and its like tripled and
im like WOW ,i musta missed something

and theres threads offering to buy pirates debt for 13%  and all these new rules for
PPT accounts adding to the craziness..........

People are suddenly scared they're going to lose everything, and that panic is causing them to recalculate the value of their investments. I personally think they should hold on to it all or nothing. I think the people on this forum don't represent bitcoin, I think we've had enough of the scams, tricks, lies, thieving, etc, and I'm glad my bet has already served many of it's multiple purposes. Can't wait until September 9th.

i dont know about pirate but i dont think matthew would allow his name
to be used in fashion  to help pirate scam more .........
Well, that's the beauty of it. If the bet is properly bankrolled, Matt pays out, and his name doesn't take any hit, other than "Hehe, remember that time Matt bet that Pirate wasn't a Ponzi? What a goof."

... and if you believe that's what will happen, I have a bet for you!

http://betsofbitco.in/item?id=588

/sigh. Bets on bets on bets. Is this what it's come to?

Patience. It's not September 9th.
2211  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [POLL] How will Pirateat40's debt repayment unfold? on: August 30, 2012, 08:50:36 AM
Think Pirate is a scam?

I have another $500 I am willing to offer in this wager.

Given that the going market rate for pirate debt is 12%  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=104052.0 I will only be accepting offers of 1:4 odds or better for the next bet slot.  Thus I would be willing to wager this next $500 against $2,000 or better.   Contact me with an offer if interested.

All bets will be escrowed here through Garr 255 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=104494.0  He has kindly offered to escrow my bets.

Bet terms are indexed in Garr's thread.

Cute.
2212  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: August 29, 2012, 01:22:34 PM
So Matthew's subsequent doubling down now guarantees that things will end very badly for him.

Either:

1. he loses the bet, and will be forever remembered as the obstinate idiot who doubled down and lost 30KBTC in the face of an explicit confession.  No one will ever again respect him, or trust his judgement on any business matters.
2. Pirate pays, he miraculously wins the bet, in which case he will forever be suspected as a crook who had inside information.
3. he welches on the bet through a technicality or pretending it was a joke, in which case he will be forever known as someone whose word cannot be trusted or taken seriously.

4. Matthew loses the bet, pays 100%, and will be remembered as a guy we can trust to bet against without any escrow.

5. Matthew wins the bet, gives the money back because he's awesome like that.  Cool
2213  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: centralized post of pirate payouts-It is over. Pirate@scammer admits default on: August 29, 2012, 12:55:16 PM
26.7k

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ajtx05YrHtIydFVHcGxLOExTbnhqajJLZmlSZUNtM3c#gid=0

does anyone have the original title for this thing? I would like to see it here for posterity.

I still have the original version.
It's "People so sure of themselves they're willing to piss away money on it"

35k now

I would like to state here on behalf of Bitcoin Magazine that Matthew's bet has nothing at all to do with Bitcoin Magazine. This is not something approved by Bitcoin Magazine and images of Bitcoin Magazine placed there are used without consent of Bitcoin Magazine and without consulting with board of directors of Bittalk Media Ltd, ( publisher of Bitcoin Magazine ).

I'm not an expert on this but from my understanding with Matthew's bet is that pirate has to pay full interest due to the hour paid. And it is also my understanding that Pirate wanted the interest to stop at 8:30 am this morning Texas time.

So for Matthew to win, pirate will have to pay out more than he said he would hours ago. Yes Matthew technically can still win, but why take 10k more bets?

If Matthew does not pay the bet will he still run Bitcoin Magazine and all that other stuff? That would be a massive black eye...

Will he take the 15 000 btc "donation" from zhoutong with him ?

Where did anyone say anything about 15,000BTC? Wasn't it $12,000USD? Wow. Thanks for warning people to ever trust what you have to say.
2214  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: August 29, 2012, 12:36:23 PM
Originally, I disagreed with Matthew's methods, but somewhat sympathized with the original motivation he presented.

However, as of yesterday, circumstances have clearly changed, given the Pirate default statement.

Matthew, it's good to have courage and strong beliefs.  But when new concrete information is brought to light, a wise man will reassess the validity of those beliefs before digging himself a deeper hole.  There is no dishonor in admitting a mistake and engaging reverse.  In fact, quite the opposite.

Isn't it beautiful? And all from a community of the "new currency" free from "evil" enemy government oppression!  Roll Eyes With a community like ours, who needs enemies!

There are more points to be made, but I'll make them around the 9th. Thanks for your kind words mate.
2215  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: August 29, 2012, 10:46:29 AM
Frankly speaking, this community has continuously been wrong about me from the first day I came into it.

I said you were annoying and I was your friend as well as enjoyed you on the forum.

Please don't tell me that I was wrong. I can't handle anymore heartache today.

2216  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about 10,000BTC Bet (Official) on: August 29, 2012, 10:40:57 AM
The fact that he's still taking bets shows he is sure he has a way to avoid paying, and maybe even making you pay, so increasing it now seems pretty stupid.

Wisdom. Or I'm just sure I'll win.  Shocked

Are you betting with your own coins or has someone else asked you to make this bet for them.  You claim to know very little about Pirate and his operations yet you don't come off as stupid enough to make a blind bet on a whim with such a large amount of your own cash.

No offense, but everyone is saying something different right now. Either I know something and I am not saying, or I don't know something and I'm just playing, or I'm just ignorant and don't know what I'm doing, or I'm lying and don't care about the outcome, or this or that or the other thing. Frankly speaking, this community has continuously been wrong about me from the first day I came into it. After this freakish display of accusations and speculation, I think I finally got over it. Everyone can think what they want, I'll keep doing what I want. ^_^ Cheers

It's not my fault he went full retard in the last day and tripled down on Pirate.

The accepted terminology is "developmentally delayed". Please do not use inappropriate and bigoted language in a forum which has already has sufficient inappropriate and bigoted developmentally delayed members.

He already went full retard by getting into business with Jonathan Ryan Owens and Bitscalper.

I went into business with Bitscalper? Funny. First I've heard of it. Got any more FUD I can chew on? MOAR!

Accepted.

Id like to increase my bet to 100 btc

Accepted.

I see the number in your google docs spreadsheet keeps going up Matthew. If you're still taking bets, I would like to increase mine to 500BTC.

Accepted.

If you're still accepting bets (which would be insane!), I'll increase mine to 238.8 BTC.

I will raise mine from 250 to 500 if they are still being taken

(matthew knows whats really going on friday  maybe ?)  Grin

Accepted. (No, I honestly don't.)
