2401  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm giving 100% ROI away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud on: August 23, 2012, 12:19:04 PM
In light of recent news that pirate has indeed paid out one individual (and 2 reported although unconfirmed), I am even more confident that I will indeed win this bet as I had originally hoped. I've decided to raise the maximum bet to 1,000BTC per person.

I encourage anyone who is invested in Pirate who is unsure of his legitimacy (which is still not proven) to use this opportunity to hedge with me, reason being that I have already locked the 10,000BTC funds towards this bet and will not be backing away from that amount.

 Shocked

Did you run this by Wladimir?  Roll Eyes

No need. I'd like to take this opportunity to remind the general public that this bet is a personal bet of mine and has absolutely no affiliation with the company that I work for, Bitcoin Magazine. My poor choices in public behavior should never be used as a weapon against a project that is absolutely fabulous and has some of the brightest and hardest working teams in Bitcoin. Thanks for keeping this clear.

My goal is to build a global bitcoin-related business which employs hundreds if not thousands people  Grin

Seconded. I'll let the speculators and neckbeards worry about the network, logic and economical issues with bitcoin itself. I'm only interested in what it enables, and right now that's a whole shitload.
2404  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: It's Thursday now, nothing will happen too. on: August 23, 2012, 11:35:09 AM
I'm not a rocket surgeon or anything, but doesn't Wednesday come after Tuesday?

Wednesday was cancelled due to lack of interest.

I see what you did there.  Grin (Double zing!)
2405  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE features release schedule on: August 23, 2012, 11:12:58 AM
James,

I've seen a thread about someone asking the legality of the GLBSE and myself, I'm just getting into stocks, IPOs and such so I'm not 100% sure yet, but is there any reason to believe that putting up an IPO on the GLBSE would be illegal? And even if not for every country, how about for the USA? Would you be held responsible legally if an IPO there like Pirate ran out with everyone's money? Don't need a legal letter or anything, just asking your opinion.

Cheers

This is out of topic, and should either be in a PM or in the other GLBSE threads (of which there are several) on this topic.

Read GLBSE's TOS

Thanks! Doing now.
2406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm giving 100% ROI away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud on: August 23, 2012, 11:04:39 AM
if I defaulted on my bet, I'd have a legal excuse of being a minor and not being legally allowed to sign a contract without parent consent and I'd use you as proof since you know my age for sure. LOL Epic.

Just quoting verbatim what Matthew thinks about his possible con, he thinks it is quite amusing.

Please resume throwing your money away Wink

Thank you. I'm sure they're all impressed with your internet detective skills and how you thought I was a 17 year old. Oh my!

Full quote to prove your dishonesty:

If I am indeed misinformed about your age, perhaps you consider why it is so easy for me and others to assume you are young. I should stop lying about having proof of your age.
FTFY.

I shall edit the post, striking out your age but the warning shall remain as you have not demonstrated any reason why you should be trusted, especially when it comes to handling bets.

Please, don't change anything. I'm just messing with you. I honestly hope you keep everything you said the same, because it's hilariously entertaining and if I defaulted on my bet, I'd have a legal excuse of being a minor and not being legally allowed to sign a contract without parent consent and I'd use you as proof since you know my age for sure. LOL Epic.

To everyone watching, my apologies, I'm just having so much fun with Level 2 of this game called Forum. There are all new types of trolls at this stage! (The kind that actually believe what they say!  Shocked)

GAIZ..I HAVE A THEORY.

We're born and raised under a communist dictatorship, we're shoved out into the free market, then we become libertarians, finally dying as defeatists.

The reason why there is no perfect system probably is because more than one system is required.
2409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm giving 100% ROI away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud on: August 23, 2012, 10:50:58 AM
As agreed via PM I am willing to bet 10BTC.
I am not home right now so I do not have my BTC address, but will post again later tonight with my BTC address.

Accepted. No worries.

2412  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling Website on: August 23, 2012, 10:23:59 AM
I am not offering some type of ponzi scheme..

Anyway based on your comments by comparing me to someone who has obviously already defrauded members here you have already built up a picture of me that is of someone is here to scam.
So, you are not interested in this at all and your just trying to portray me in a bad light.

I agree that having a new user status here means that I am still an unknown so maybe I will take your advice and try this again later down the line once im more established in the community.
I'm in no rush to sell, but thought I would see if anyone was interested.

Also I would like to point out that im not asking for bitcoins, I would be open to any type of payment / escrow that protects both myself and the buyer.

But, we will leave it there...

Smiley

Keep in mind, no one has a problem with you selling something, they have a problem with an anonymous user making claims of worth and profits.
2413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm giving 100% ROI away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud on: August 23, 2012, 10:22:26 AM
No escrow, fails to provide any sort of proof he could cover his debt when all it would take is signed address or a picture of the first bits of the bar(s). Yah ok.

Now I am wondering how many ppl here made naked bets.

Now I am wondering ow many people here made bets naked.

Thanks for putting that image in my head. Please be more careful with your phrasing in future.

I lol'ed (I'm naked right now)

Only 10BTC - I cannot afford to lose any more and only bet with money I can afford to lose.

Can you place your bid in the proper format?

Code:

2415  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Women and free market on: August 23, 2012, 10:15:40 AM
Women are inherently disadvantaged on a free market. Because they need to take breaks during pregnancies and the time after, women need more security and support. They also feel more connected and responsible for the newborn than men (who seem to "run away" more often than women) and thus have to bear more risk. Hence they are more "social" and are thus drawn to models of society many here would call "socialist".

The insensitivity of many libertarians and ancaps for this set of problems is one aspect that scares many "normal" folks (and leftists) away. I don't like the "big state" solution either, but the "free market" fails to resolve this. Also, women might complain that raising children is hard work, and an undoubtedly necessary service for society, but it is unrewarded by a market because what they do is taken for granted and the market cannot really provide a way to compensate them.

So until there is a satisfying solution for this, I predict we won't have libertarian/ancap "utopia".

Sounds logical.

Am I eligible to place a bet?
I am almost at the 100 post limit and have been registered for over 6 months.

Make your wager and I will make a risk assessment accordingly.
2417  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Your opinion on MNW's motivation to bet 10,000 BTC (one post per forum member) on: August 23, 2012, 10:05:38 AM
Maybe MNW is pirate. Therefore he is so sure that he will pay the investors.

Brilliant! I'm also Zhou Tong, Atlas, and Tom Williams. I'll buy you a house!

I mean fuck, Matt is just shipping $50k USD all over the community's face.  It's better than Partypoker c. 2006.
Cheesy
2419  Other / Off-topic / Re: Community split? on: August 23, 2012, 09:44:11 AM
By contrast how sustainable is your bet?

If I continue to win? Infinitely. If I lose this time just once? I won't be betting anymore.  Wink
2420  Economy / Gambling / Re: mem's BITCOIN GAMBLING LIST on: August 23, 2012, 09:41:47 AM
Do you have any proof that I am 17 years old?
Many articles quote your age - pick one. I guess you are about to run around and bet each of the journalists about your age and then call them cowardly liars when they refuse to bet with a child ?
I can't stop lolling. Can you show me any part of the internet outside of a vandalized wikipedia page where it is stated that I am 17? Also, when you figure out that I'm not 17, how much are you going to pay for defaming like an idiot? If you're not indeed scared of having been deathly wrong, why are you cowardly avoiding putting your money where your mouth is?

Prove your honesty (partialy at least) by providing id.

As an independent individual, I would state that I believe Matthew is older then 17. Try digging up his pictures and see for yourself.

So a delusional immature adult, thats worse than being a kid with no clue.

Notice how he doesn't apologize for spreading FUD.  Roll Eyes "honest"
