I wanted to skip this post, I really did, but there's just so much wrong with it I couldn't help myself. Forgive me if I seem like I'm "attacking" you, but the amount of ByteCoin sockpuppet shills is staggering.

A copy of Bitcoin was bound to happen anyway.

It already has, dozens of times.

Bitcoin must be able to cope with that so we might as well try it ourselves.
We should participate in a pump-and-dump scheme because it looks like our own pump-and-dump scheme?

In the end, it's not about becoming a BTC millionaire but about making hassle free 24/7 unrestricted payments.
This is true. Have you tried Ripple yet?

Couldn't care less whether I have to pay with LTC, BTC or Bytecoin in the future since it is all interchangeable.
Last time I checked, no, they weren't interchangeable, at least not with any amount of ease. Only BTC>LTC, LTC>BTC.

We don't have a problem with 100+ PDF readers either.
The value of the PDF doesn't change by what reader you use. This analogy is completely nonsensical.

Never use hostgater. They lock your accounts randomly and require you to send them government issued ID over unsecured email before unlocking them (worse than Paypal).

That's something I would like to avoid.

Look guys, end result.. please back it...   not because you like the project...  but because it will pave the way for yours and everyone elses project to get approved.

Wait, you want us to pay you $5000 so that projects will be approved in the future? If you've gotten yours up, and that was supposed to be the challenge, then isn't the work already done?

Posting to lol@coinsex.

Good luck on your auctions! I might have bought Bitpizzas a long time ago.

I was planning on using http://www.inetu.net for webhosting =  $500/month ($6000 a year) for a dedicated server

Okay. I have no idea what kind of requirements you would have for a server, but that sounds pretty darn expensive - can't you do with anything less?

http://www.hostgator.com/dedicated

Even their most expensive package is $374/month, and you could probably start with a lesser package and upgrade if necessary.

I don't have sufficient knowledge about iOS development to comment on the rest, but I can tell you that the key to a succesfully funded project is to keep the costs as low as possible (unless you're a celebrity like Tim Schafer).

1625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kickstarter has approved its first Bitcoin Project on: April 04, 2013, 09:22:20 PM
I need it to be approved on the App Store...

Doing this *after* receiving funding is a bit...eh...

Why not make it HTML5 and just say "fuck you Apple"?
1626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kickstarter has approved its first Bitcoin Project on: April 04, 2013, 08:48:54 PM
I'm not sure how this is done, but on kickstarter and indiegogo, I'm pretty sure you just submit any batshit crazy project you want and as long as it's not illegal it's automatically accepted. That, and as a mobile developer, an HTML5 *all browser* automated updating site doesn't cost $5,000. This just doesn't look right.

How many other IOS apps exist for Bitcoin right now?
1628  Economy / Lending / Re: 4 BTC loan on: April 04, 2013, 07:23:31 PM
Basically, bitcoin loans are a bad idea.

The old me is tempted to go on to ever known 409 scammer forum and say "come to bitcointalk for free money! these suckers are easy!" just to create in influx of scammers so large that the entire community would be *forced* to treat bitcoin like what it is--- GOLD.
1629  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: First BFL ASIC! on: April 04, 2013, 06:52:46 PM
Yeah, boycott me because I got a device I paid for. Makes so much sense.

Do you agree that the bet was lost?
1630  Economy / Lending / Re: 4 BTC loan on: April 04, 2013, 06:51:40 PM
I feel like no one is going to loan a newbie 4 BTC. Just my 2 cents
with all the comments and suggestion, there is no hope of a loan for a newbie. from my understanding, there is a high risk of fraud and no guarantee of repayment. its kinda logical, if one gets scammed the first time, it will be hard to give out a loan even if the you are genuine.
That's about it. It is no different than a guy on the street asking for $500 with only a promise that he will meet you on the street a week from now. Would you do that?
you are right. but let me ask, do you loan out coins based on collateral or just pure instincts?

When someone presents a business plan for example, other businessmen can see that plan and know if it will likely work or not. If it will work and the agree with the risks, they are likely to provide investment capital because the idea will probably make money and the person borrowing would be stupid not to just keep making money legitimately (unless they're a professional scammer who does this for a living).

Personal loans however are a bit trickier, because you're asking someone to believe in the value and potential of the *person*. When you don't know that person, it's impossible to say and you might as well be playing SatoshiDice. Why don't you provide a product or service for money instead?
1631  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will ByteCoin confuse people about BitCoin on: April 04, 2013, 04:18:50 PM
The protagonist/s behind this are using a large number of sock-puppets to make it look popular. Some people will be fooled by this. It's a scam, plain and simple.

+1 I noticed this too, and we all have a very good idea of who that protagonist is.
1632  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will ByteCoin confuse people about BitCoin on: April 04, 2013, 04:05:16 PM
Business plan:
1) copycat something
2) give it a vaguely similar name
3) find a bunch of excited losers who can't tell a from b
4) profit

You just described China's primary export. Wanna see my Appel iPlod?
1633  Economy / Lending / Re: 4 BTC loan on: April 04, 2013, 04:03:04 PM
Where do you live? Maybe someone can visit your home and deliver you some of the computer parts you need and you can pay them back later?

Could you answer the above question?
you already labeled me a scammer. i dont see the need for that.

With all the urgency to grab coins you sure do give up easily. I was proposing someone here do a safe, reputation building favor of giving your equipment in person (craigslist style) instead of anonymous over the internet. What's your objection?

1635  Other / Meta / Proposition for Newbie Jail on: April 04, 2013, 03:52:48 PM
When technology is involved, things get sloppier and inhuman on the large scale and that's exactly what happens when you make a fixed time and post count requirement for newbies.

It confuses them, pushes them to make meaningless posts to meet a quota, and creates an abusive and aggressive atmosphere that moderators are then left to clean up for the life of said member.

I don't know how others feel about this policy, but personally I think it's one of the most bizarre and backwards policies ever. We don't want trolls, we don't want spambots, and we don't want people who are here just to spread verbal diarrhea, yet that's exactly what we get when we place barriers that can be broken by a GreaseMonkey script.

I propose that the time and post requirements be removed for newbies and replaced with the following:

  • Newbie accounts are created, along with a BTC address previously generated in bulk offline
  • The balance of this address is controlled and owned by the forum and is used in place of donations
  • When this balance reaches a certain threshold, the user will be automatically whitelisted and the balance dumped into the forum's funds, with the address removed from the profile of the user.

This makes it costly to make new accounts and shit-post or spam, and it also makes it so that people with abusive attitudes and nothing meaningful to say stay where they belong.

This would be the equivalent of using Reddit gold or the Reddit tip bot, but as a form of quality control and whitelisting instead.

Thoughts?
1636  Economy / Lending / Re: 4 BTC loan on: April 04, 2013, 03:33:41 PM
Last I checked, eBay doesn't accept BTC.

Also, according to your BTCJam page,

Code:
Identity verified: no
Address verified: no
Credit score verified: no

You're also giving a supposed sense of urgency (typical of scammers) yet you haven't even bothered to share what auctions you're supposed to pay for. Also, you shouldn't bid on ebay auctions unless you have the funds in-hand in the future.

Where do you live? Maybe someone can visit your home and deliver you some of the computer parts you need and you can pay them back later?

It can be difficult to order now since they're all sold out, but if you guys are still looking for options in a hurry (before there are none left), you can stop by my auction and give it a shot. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=165105 It's not for a 63Gh/s though, it's for an 85Gh/s with PSU shipping next month.

This is awesome! 50 ASICs coming to you is pretty impressive! That's a heavy investment and a fantastic service you're providing to the community. Since yours has officially ended, I am offering pretty much the same thing here as well if anyone missed the boat. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=165105.0
