3041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs. the Banks on: July 12, 2012, 12:53:30 PM

Exact, I have a problem about the world around me ruled by a banking system that is literally responsible of the environmental destruction by overstimulating consumption.

+1 Exactly!!

This is why we should promote a resource based economy. All reality, no fantasy.

Economies are resource based by definition: Economies are how resources are distributed.

A "Resource Based Economy" is like saying a "Meal Based Restaurant"

I'd eat that restaurant.
3042  Other / Off-topic / Re: I found out some very bad news in the family on: July 12, 2012, 12:44:12 PM
I'm sorry about the situation. That is just too bad for that to happen to anyone.  Undecided

As a side note, I acted like him when I was 7 too. I threw dishes at my sisters in rage. I grew out of it.

I also had a friend though who was a devout Catholic, studying at Notre Dame to be a priest, had brain surgery when he got in a car crash, and came out wondering who is family was and why he did what he did before, didn't know why he believed in god in the first place and now considers it silly, etc.

The human brain is a scary thing.

3043  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITCOIN MAGAZINE ARRIVED! on: July 12, 2012, 12:30:38 PM
The magazine should be wrapped in plastic. It arrived dirty on the back.

Your magazine didn't come in an envelope? That's highly bizarre. We've had problems with our original printers/shippers but I don't know how they sent a magazine to you without an envelope. That's just downright unacceptable.

It did come inside an envelope, but the back cover (the one with bitinstant ad), which is white, arrived dirty with black marks everywhere.
It seems it was rubbed somewhere before it was packaged. That's why I said it should be wrapper in plastic before doing anything with it.
Normally I receive magazines wrapped in plastic inside an envelop.

Sorry for the confusion.

That is indeed bizarre. Please send your complaint to info@bitcoinmagazine.co.uk

Our customer service is usually quite quick in both responding and fixing issues for customers. You're lucky I just happened to be reading this thread or I never would have known! Thanks for helping us do a better job though!

Received my copy in Sweden some days ago. Overall I'm really impressed but I do agree about the font. Making the font smaller and margins bigger will give it a more professional look. Keep up the good work!

Appreciate the advice and glad to see you got it in Sweden. There are already major changes to the second and third issues (which are being designs simultaneously).
3046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] The world's first handheld Bitcoin device, the Ellet! on: July 12, 2012, 05:01:41 AM
So you're Pro Crowdfunding now? That's not what you said to ...
Ignoring the contradiction in your post ('now' = present tense, 'said' = past tense), yes, I am pro-kickstarter and crowdfunding for non-software initiatives. I always have been.

The thread you referred to was someone trying to crowdfund a free piece of software, which I am still against. Crowdsourcing is the solution for projects that have no material costs (like software).

I've updated my post there to be more specific. Thanks for pointing that out!
3047  Bitcoin / Press / Re: Guidelines for Press board on: July 12, 2012, 12:43:51 AM
Hi Jeff,  I'm wondering why you chose this particular day to lock the other topic and start this one?

Did you know just yesterday http://bitcoinpress.com was launched with a similar intent?

Perhaps only coincidence.

There are only 3 titles in that site and all are from mid-April. Thank god no one waited around for that.
3048  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] The world's first handheld Bitcoin device, the Ellet! on: July 12, 2012, 12:41:36 AM
Current valuation for the company, assets and resources is $900,000 USD as of September 10th, 2012.
Cool, you can see into the future! Can you read my palm, too?

Wow, shows you how overworked I am these days. That's the date of availability for the Bitcoin Magazine in Barnes and Noble  Roll Eyes

Fixed.
3049  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] The world's first handheld Bitcoin device, the Ellet! on: July 12, 2012, 12:38:47 AM
UPDATE: Through continuous difficulties with our current design and manufacturing manager in Shenzen, we've decided to part ways and I am inviting another well known manufacturing specialist from Smith company in Shenzen. I'll update here when it seems prudent to. It's still looking like about a 4-6 month wait on this before you'll be able to order, but I'll try to push the investors a bit more so we can speed that up.

Cheers
3050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] The world's first handheld Bitcoin device, the Ellet! on: July 11, 2012, 04:23:49 PM
I'm posting the other thread in a minute. Need to clear some details with investors.

How long could a Matthew minute be for the rest of the world?
Let's try:
Bitcoin Magazine: "weeks" -> "months"
Ellet: "next week" -> "not anytime soon"
So are are there any mathematicians here that can compute this?

Sorry, right when I was about to post the thread that took 20 or so minutes to write, I was asked to handle it privately instead.
3051  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitLasers.com - Handheld Lasers and accessories [BLUES IN STOCK] on: July 11, 2012, 06:24:53 AM
I want to order but it's always "out of stock"  Angry
3052  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did Bruce Wagner Scam Me? on: July 11, 2012, 12:48:46 AM
Oh, was it?
Then, Mr. American, who has English for 1st language, I would advise you to be clear on what you write.
Or are you so blind in rage that you can't formulate your complaint properly? I bet the cops will love that!
Oh god, who made you a mod ?

Is there a mod in here?  Shocked
Where?

Now for real, joking aside: You disagree that someone who wishes to come here and say that someone else scammed him should post accurate data about what happened?
Or didn't you notice people questioning the OP about the $5 value he used?
I may be in the wrong by making fun of him because he was really scammed, but if he wants to accuse someone he better post something that people will understand and detail it the best he can or else we're just opening the door to any malicious user to create an alt and badmouth someone they don't like.
Would you like it if it happened to any of your services?

mailed him payment for bitcoin at $5 for Priority Mail.

Anyway, he will soon have a Warrant for his Arrest in Maryland and New York.. and he wont be able to use Bruce Wagner as a name ever again because they will arrest him and move him back to the state.. they do that when ur an illegal in like 3 states or so

I call bullshit.

As for the OP question: "Did Bruce Wagner Scam Me?"

Frankly speaking, yes, because he convinced you at all to even bother taking his website seriously. Even if you got your product as desired, you were scammed into furthering his agenda of self-importance. Think of it that way.

As compared to the other exchanges, it is...

It will eventually plummet though, so be careful.

3053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs. the Banks on: July 10, 2012, 01:45:02 PM
Banking institutions tend to turn up in any advanced economic system... Bitcoin will be no different, and there most likely will be banks, MtGox is the closest thing to a bank we have right now. They issue their own currency (MtGox Redemption Vouchers) and offer various services and allow you to exchange and transfer funds.

Bitcoin doesn't allow anybody to create money out of thin air like the actual banking system. That's the main fundamental difference.

Absolutely any exchange can create money out of thin air. Get over the ability to create money out of thin air and start focusing on the trust behind it. If I create $100 out of thin air but promise you to pay you $100 tomorrow and you are positive through a track record of me being paid $100 everyweek at the same time for 20 years that you will get that $100, isn't that enough to make the transaction? What more do you need in a functioning society?

If you have a problem with that, you have a problem with:

1) MtGox codes
2) Ripple technology
3) The world around you

Follow these steps:

  • Purchase Bitcoin Magazine from http://subscribe.bitcoinmagazine.net so that you know everything important that there is to know
  • Take a picture of it and show it here
  • By the time you take the picture and give updates of your progress you'll be out of newbie jail  Wink

Should be interesting

Don't worry, I wouldn't leave our first prototype engineer in the dark Wink

3057  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] The world's first handheld Bitcoin device, the Ellet! on: July 10, 2012, 05:55:44 AM
UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know that I've been spending the past month preparing materials, giving demonstrations and discussing with investors. There are several investors in Silicon Valley and the UK that are interested in the Ellet and we may in fact be able to cut our production time to half of what I had originally quoted. To be safe though, I won't make any firm announcements just yet. I have created another thread to offer the community to be a part of the investment process and thus a part of the profits, rather than relying entirely on angel investors that seem to run the world around us.

Will update with thread link when posted.

Cheers.

Im not happy you use that word in the context of insulting people.

Asperger syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger's syndrome or Asperger disorder, is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.

I'm not happy that what I said is true.

It's good to see my idea for the UABB is finally happening. The community didn't take it too fondly when I presented it 11 months ago, but I guess all the scamming finally got them to change their mind. It's kind of like 9/11 making everyone not want their freedoms anymore. Maybe Bitcoin really is the entire world's economic and political history on fast forward.

I dropped the UABB idea after it was argued excessively that anything to do with the BBB model of "guaranteeing" trust is a failure. I have sense come to grips with this and think the UABB was at least partially a bad idea (the ratings system wasn't, and the OTC borrows a lot from that as well).

EDIT:

"It guarantees that the business in question is a legitimate entity which has complied with all of Mt.Gox's Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer requirements."

//paying taxes is trust/?/that slaps me on the knee//

Shut up Atlas.
