Yeah soo annoyingg i never buy it anyway i think it's really important to start from ourselves without caring the rest because the rest will follow. but yeah like i said for longterm and mass scale change-transparency and decentralized system is better (not best). This is one of the reason why i become blockchain enthusiast, it's not perfect-it have flaws but it offer us so many solutions for so many use cases rather than centralized one.

I opened my eyes because of this : https://blogchainzoo.com/use-cases/ (seriously)

Well, I looked at the section on climate change and really, seriously wasn't impressed. It's fairly often that someone thinks that the magic of blockchain will enable their personal beliefs and prejudices to win out. These people often don't even understand what blockchain will and will not do.

An example or two (from your link)

"Blockchain feature highlighted" - Peer to Peer - Crucial where regulation and governance are weak or otherwise unstable.

Huh WTF??? Blockchain is a substitute for top down government organization, not something used when those functions are weak. Not something inferior, but superior.

CLI MISSION - to accelerate climate action in line with the Paris Climate Agreement ....

Last I looked at the matter, the Paris Agreement really had zero effect on climate and was sort of a political feel good thing

Climate Ledger Initiative (CLI)

International, multistakeholder initiative at the intersection of ...

Huh?

So looking at the "Cli operation" climateledger.org, I'm going to say that this is not something that exists but something that someone would like to exist. Their donation page definitely does exist, though.

And none of what the author of "CLI" thinks is important for blockchain really is, anyway. As I mentioned, what is important is long term recording of basic climate data in a blockchain, along with all adjustments to those values or temperatures. This would have caught the lies in Al Gore's "hockey stick of temperature" and Michael Mann's fraudulent data series on which he projected a world rapidly warming.

2223  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Global Warming Real? on: November 27, 2019, 07:58:13 PM
Anyone can say it's not real - or real. But it does not matter.

Sometimes you go too deep into the question till you realize you're not going anywhere.

Either it's real or not, if we can do things that are good for both us and earth, why not?
Why wait till it went worse?

For me i think, blockchain technology is one of the world's mass solution to reduce things that caused global warming. If you think global warming is real, or not (yet), imo you guys should start knowing and learning about this kind of knowledges. There are a lot of ways of course, but here in case you want to know the brief explanations of how tech like blockchain can help :

https://blogchainzoo.com/climate-blockchange/

That's all propaganda and political talking points.

The fundamental and real thing that a blockchain could do for climate change issues would be for the raw temperature measured values to be put on a blockchain, along with all the "adjustments" made to them and the reasons for each.

That would be a scientific starting point for accurately understanding climate change. But a lot of powerful forces would be opposed to that.

Very good point. I agree, but also i think it's something we all should fight for. Decentralization and Transperancy is what this modern civilization market need beside that fact that some blockchain company will try to "adjust" it for their purpose as you said. This tech imo will minimalize the impact..

What reality is is that the "adjustments" to world and regional temperature values have been monkeyed with for decades, and those doing the changes have not adequately explained them to people who asked for explanations.

This makes it nearly impossible to establish factually whether there has been "global warming" and to what extent.

Okay, but then what? I mean, what do you think should we do ?

Aside from distrusting politicians who would take your money for Saving the Earth?

(Always distrust something like that)

There are many serious pollution issues that seemed to be just cast aside with a mantra to reduce carbon emissions.

Yes before 2003. It's still a savage country but going from making children into soldiers and sex slaves to employ is some progress. It's Africa. These people used to murder women and children with machetes only a decade ago.

Oh, I thought that was Rwanda. I just hope this income from cobalt would actually lift the country from poverty rather than become another resource curse, like diamonds were for other countries in Africa.

....

Never think that your own experience is adequate to solve a problem in Africa. One day on the ground there is quite enlightening.

Africa is at once beautiful, and terrifying.

Greta made a speech at 'climate action'

her message
'i am watching you'
says 'people stolen her childhood'
talks about 'suffering' 'dying'
mentions 'how dare you' several times

Yeah, she's the scare bitch of climate, put in place by the consensus of a few.

The whole "Biden didn't want Burisma to be investigated" is a false narrative.

Are you sure about that?

Yes. The Burisma investigation, which stems from incidents that occurred before Hunter Biden ever had anything to do with it, had been shelved by the time Shokin was removed as prosecutor. Just because Hunter Biden was on the board of a potentially corrupt company it doesn't mean he knew it was corrupt or played any role in furthering its corruption, despite whatever Quickseller or PrimeNumber7 has to say about it.

That timeline is absolutely false.

"The e-mail shows that the meeting was for the purpose of getting Ukraine to back off of its corruption probe of Burisma. The e-mail, shown below, argued that Burisma had been unfairly targeted by Shokin without evidence and outside of due process. It also noted very pointedly that two “high profile US citizens” worked with Burisma, and named Hunter Biden explicitly:

https://hotair.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/burisma-1-768x360.png"

https://hotair.com/archives/ed-morrissey/2019/11/05/uh-oh-hunter-bidens-name-pops-2016-state-dept-e-mails-discussing-end-burisma-corruption-probe/

Are you really arguing that Hunter Biden was just some unwitting bystander as a board member of some "formerly corrupt" company which suddenly ceased being corrupt once Hunter joined the board? Are you saying a board member of the company not only was unaware of these operations in the past, but continued to be unaware of the attempts to cover up these facts as he was on the board? Seems like a long list of "coincidences"

You aren't interested in rule of law, you are interested only in serving your bias. You need only insinuation and speculation to condemn Trump and anyone associated with him, but you are eager to ignore documented factual evidence of very high level corruption when it is the party that serves your bias. You are either a liar or a moron, or both.

Regarding "either a liar or a moron" that's a ridiculous conclusion. Go look at typical liberal reading material such as Huff Post, etc. Read it and see if you are not led directly to conclusions such as "Burisma invest. was concluded before Hunter..."

2227  Other / Politics & Society / Re: REEE: Donald Trump Impeachment Hearings [serious discussion] on: November 26, 2019, 08:58:06 AM
You know what else is dangerous? Preventing The President of The United States from exercising his Constitutional authority using the guise of "investigations" and "checks and balances". This has become a pretty clear pattern now. It seems though any time investigations, checks, and balances swing the other way suddenly it is an outrage and an "obstruction" of some yet undefined and undocumented crime investigation. It is investigation after investigation revealing nothing and constantly churning out new baseless accusations of some crime looming just around the corner for 3 solid years. Checks and balances go both ways, and the legislative branch is demonstrably exceeding its authority.

You're absolutely right.

This is the only logical defense from Republicans and I think it holds true. The witnesses that democrats put forward did not have first hand knowledge of the phone call except for Sondland and he has not laid out a case for impeachment or a case for quid pro quo. We know two things - One, the President did mention Joe Biden during a call to Ukrainian President Zelensky but it's not clear whether Trump was tying military aid to a specific investigation into Hunter Biden and Burisma. Two - High ranking US officials met with Zelensky upwards of five times after the call was made and before the whistler blower complaint went public and not once during those meetings was Joe Biden mentioned. Not one democrat has been willing to explain why it is Trump attempted to extort the Ukrainians but not at all follow through with his request to investigate the Biden's. The logical conclusion that house democrats will not accept is that Trump was "mouthing off" as he always does in these phone calls and was using Hunter Biden and Burisma as an example of ongoing corruption within Ukraine and was not specifically referencing an investigation into Joe Biden in order to get military aid.

And you think about it, it's not too surprising. Trump withholding aid for Ukraine to get anti-corruption efforts going with a new administration is not particularly unusual. The narrative is that the U.S. State Department expected Ukraine to receive military aid and that it surprised State Department lawyers that Trump withheld the foreign aid. But Trump has been critical of giving away millions of dollars of cash to foreign nations in the past and has particularly been critical of offer up huge sums of money to corrupt nations (Hint hint, Iran Nuclear Deal). So is anyone looking at this Ukraine situation logically actually expected to believe that Trump withheld this aid for investigations of his political rivals OR is it more logical that Trump withheld aid for Ukraine to pursue anti-corruption efforts in a country that is riddled by mishandling of funds?

Democrats know well enough that public support for impeachment is dwindling and that the progressive wing of the democratic party has a good shot at winning the nomination which will cause a split in democratic voting forcing independents to support Trump in the 2020 election. They're fairly desperate to tarnish the President's record here but it's important to note - don't get me wrong - I'll be the first to say that I think Trump did not handle the situation professionally, but it's not something I, nor any American expects at this point because "Trump is Trump". Trump is far from being a professional President and his supporters and opponents understand this to the point where we do not expect anything else.

I agree with your concepts, but am still waiting for some explanation of what the "Impeachable Offense" was pre-destined to be, aside from the impeachable offense of "Trump being Trump."

Realistically, the best thing that could have happened to the DRC is the tripling in cobalt prices that have tripled the country's income from these operations.

That gives mine operators far more flexibility to deal with labor issues, even though that may be through international pressures.

On the other hand, just finding an alternative to cobalt is ignoring the problem of the child labor...

I don't think there's much alternative, hence the need to help DRC fix this issue.

Yes an increase in prices might allow them to pay decent wages but I don't think that would stop them sneaking in kids to save costs. Only with the central government becoming stronger to implement laws would it be truly stopped.

So I think it's going to be a gradual change. Miners start earning more, government gets more taxes, government gets to improve policing.

Agreed. But gradual change is a really good thing, and is based on long term relations and reasonable requests.

Biden and Warren, two establishment-friendly politicians

I don't think Warren is more "establishment-friendly" than Sanders and she's definitely closer to Sanders than Biden on most policy positions. They (Warren and Sanders) mostly avoid attacking each other but don't hesitate to attack Biden.

Correct. There's nothing that's "Establishment friendly" that is advocating destroying substantial parts of the "Establishment."

Trump, for all the vitriol in his direction, and the hatred of him by the Deep State, is more "Establishment Friendly" than either Sanders or Biden.

If there wasn't any C-14 in the atmosphere back beyond 5,000 years ago
There was.

There are indications that there wasn't anything other than a hint of C-14 in the atmosphere back then.
Only if you believe Answers in Genesis or some similar creationist nonsense. All the actual evidence points to carbon 14 production rates being higher 5,000 years ago than they are today.

Hey, man. Just got back from shopping. But I can't wait to hear the method you used. What was it? Time machine? Simple time viewer; and how did you take the samples back then? Revived a cave scientists frozen in the ice from 5,000 years ago? Ancient aliens? Bible-like books or clay tablets from back then?

Now don't disapoint me with some hogwash circular evidence that says that because we know that there was C-14 back then, that the reliability of carbon-dating shows us exactly how much C-14 there was.

Cool

Are you saying that the chemistry of C-14 was different 5000 years ago?  Electrons behaved differently, filled different configurations, beta decay was occurring at different rates, weak forces were different?

If weak forces were not the same, all known chemistry would not work and you would have no life as observed today (or 5000, or 5M years ago).

I suppose that is possible, but I was referring to the idea that we don't know how much if any C-14 was in the atmosphere back 5000 years ago... like I sorta posted, and you sorta quoted.

Cool

Isn't carbon dating calibrated using things like tree rings to make sure we start with the correct initial content of C14?

If you want to question carbon dating you have to question the actual decay rates, but that will get you nowhere fast.

Tree rings are the joke in climatology, but I think they'd be fine for establishing average compositions of C14 for various years in the past. On a regional basis.

Vote Required for Disqualification

Sec. 13.10 The question of disqualification from holding an office of
honor, trust, or profit under the United States, following
conviction and judgment of removal in an impeachment trial, requires only a
    majority vote of the Senate
sitting as a Court of Impeachment.

What this says is that if the Senate passes a 2/3 vote favoring impeachment, THEN only a 1/2 vote is required to additionally impose disqualification.

What it does not say is that without the 2/3 vote and without impeachment, a 1/2 vote may disqualify.

You left out Lawyers, who have the single largest cash grab from marijuana being illegal, and who are > 90% Democrat.

Did leave out lawyers, and I apoligize for that. Though that stat most likely isn't true.

From the information which I sourced from http://verdantlabs.com/politics_of_professions/ - it seems like certain portions of law are more democrat and other portions are more republican, though the split seems to be in the realm of 70-30 Democrat.

That is an interesting split out by that website.

Thanks.

But I would argue, that if one was able to have a stat on "drug offense attorneys" it would almost entirely liberal leaning. Maybe for historical reasons.
