2241  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Interview with the CEO of bitmain on: September 09, 2015, 02:04:49 PM
I don't understand why bitmain is not make scrypt miner.  Huh

Because it turns out no one actually wants scypt miners.

I disagree, to many want them and A2s still sell well and the L1's  bitmain prerecorded sold out with in hours or days i forget which, so its there .

Most of the time , i agree with you , more want them then you think . some are in fact bitcoin miners, they like doing both.

They are not going to do it.  They looked into it once with the L1, took pre-orders and the whole thing.   But they decided it was best not to make machine.

I don't see after the L1 going to crap them trying it again.  But i could be wrong.

I know i had a per order for one my point is ,  it is not because on one wants it like he said because it did sell out with in hours or days i forget which. it's another reason that had to do with some thing Zeus did around that time , i can't be convinced diff. if you were following all the events  or  all the scrpt miners that were due out about then . Zeus back out and ripped off a lot of people some of which have yet to be paid back told them pretty much go jzDFCJKashld off .The market is there Innosilicon proved and has the best Scrpt miner around even KNC can't match it but it cost im saving for one . I like doing both coins . it's not weather bitmian will or won't or even why  because the why is not the real reason.

and the S7 i won't even go there we need other company's selling to the public so bitmain has to  keep prices low and calling it a home miner, that's a joke . but that remains to be seen yet if you can use quieter fans which,I'm sure you can we only know what they tell us unitll those that can afford it let us know with proof. I'm hoping sidehack can get nice a supply of chips I won't say at a reason price that's not gonna happpen but i hope he can i will  pay 700 to 900 bucks for two custom S7 boards. or buy one,  if they can run a long side a S5 18 pin board.
2242  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 5.3.0: GBT+Stratum, RPC, Mac/Linux/Win64, GekkoScience Compac on: September 09, 2015, 11:01:56 AM
chmod +x:

you need no matter what that, i know from testing, it won't run or work unless you use that command .

Never tried

chmod 777  so can't say but may try now.

all you need from this line is

sudo ./configure CFLAGS="-O3" --enable-scrypt --enable-broad-udevrules --enable-gridseed

IS

--enable-scrypt

the read me says this is on
--enable-gridseed by default which is part of this --enable-scrypt  tested that as well .Smiley .

I did it with only --enable-gridseed it stopped at some point and told me i need --enable-scrypt to use --enable-gridseed Smiley .
I have used it with these lines --enable-scrypt --enable-gridseed i think adding --enable-gridseed  makes sure all grindseed are added even thu they are with --enable-scrypt , by Default.

I add this --enable-broad-udevrules

encase, it doesn't have be a miner to stop BFG from working if your PI has software that needs those rules  . i just add it encase it's  also added in minera as well the miners UI, check that out  btw  .. .it is really nice

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=596620.0

as far as i know you need all these line

code:
sudo git clone https://github.com/luke-jr/bfgminer.git
cd /bfgminer
sudo ./autogen.sh

sudo chmod +x ./configure

you crossed out and modified it which make sense i think using just +x is so no one else can access it or a rights thing which i don't care much about either. I also Use WinSCP  or  http://winscp.net/eng/index.php?#utm_source=winscp&utm_medium=app&utm_campaign=5.7.5 and looked at the BFG Properties one time to see what chmod does , it adds the excutable code 0775 i think it is so bfg can be used other wise if you don't use chmod in some form it adds another code i forget what and BFG doesn't work . but I'm still learning and next up when i take the time to do it is cross compiling.

sudo ./configure CFLAGS="-O3" --enable-scrypt
sudo make
sudo make install

maybe not this one:

sudo make install

some say they have made it with using only  sudo make, i have yet to get it to work without using  sudo make install , after using sudo make .Smiley .

I tested to see it wouldn't compile other wise or didn't for me .

this line:
sudo apt-get -y install git-core build-essential autoconf automake libtool pkg-config libcurl4-gnutls-dev libjansson-dev uthash-dev libncursesw5-dev libudev-dev libusb-1.0-0-dev libevent-dev libmicrohttpd-dev libc-bin

if sudo ./autogen.sh doesn't work  or it asks for autoconf or any of those packages .

depends if BFG has a line added to one of the files when its updated to a new version, i forget which one off hand .

this line is to test the USB drivers or driver to make sure you see  your miner : Smiley , some times the driver don't enable right and sudo ldconfig may help it do it and all lsusb does  is show you a list of all your drivers.

sudo ldconfig
lsusb

This need i say why  ": ) Jk

bfgminer --scrypt -S all -o your pool -u user -p PW

HOPE this helps some . but tested it to see what works . let us know, I'm all ways willing to try less to do more .

PS : I set up three PI's the other day with three Proxy's  wish i had done that sooner .

cya hope all this help

don't know for sure if I can ask this here..

I have a S5 with 16 pin boards that seem to have stopped working, can anyone here fix those board or look at them . I'm willing to send them off to anyone here that is a 4 star member or higher with return shipping to look at them, just the hash boards , must live in US.

I normally don't  make my own posts or threads but this one i had to :

how many saw this ?

I won't give my imo to much on this post even thu i made it . to much BS in it .  I don't mean from you all , i mean from bitmian my comments won't be nice.

I just found it funny as hell some of the stuff they said so they could justify the price jacking .

I took a double at that and I seems to suspect that some string shouldn't be in:
Code:
// build miner
git clone -b feature/gridseed-support https://github.com/nwoolls/bfgminer
...

If I am using Git from above code, I can replace with: https://github.com/luke-jr/bfgminer ?
However, setting on that same line I wondering:

-b feature/gridseed-support
Should the complete above string be included

Im not being a smart ass  i would ask

nwoolls hes pretty cool to. if your using his miner, i think hes only dropping support for the remote software part of his miner not the miner it self .

but you can try . it can't hurt any thing . expect the time you waste doing it .

The way I do it works every time with minera or without it . I haven't used multi miner that much so can't say.

if you look at the BFG read me is says gridseed is enabled by default Smiley .

--disable-gridseed      Compile support for GridSeed (default enabled)

PS  you may need this, this  time around : it seems 5.3 didn't pick it up nor did  sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade, just did a new SD install had to do that as well .

sudo apt-get -y install git-core build-essential autoconf automake libtool pkg-config libcurl4-gnutls-dev libjansson-dev uthash-dev libncursesw5-dev libudev-dev libusb-1.0-0-dev libevent-dev libmicrohttpd-dev libc-bin

something like this ,

sudo git clone https://github.com/luke-jr/bfgminer.git
cd /bfgminer
sudo ./autogen.sh
sudo chmod +x ./configure
sudo ./configure CFLAGS="-O3" --enable-scrypt --enable-broad-udevrules
sudo make
sudo make install
sudo ldconfig
lsusb

bfgminer --scrypt -S all -o your pool -u user -p PW

for my Gblade this is all i use

bfgminer --scrypt -o your pool -u user -p PW -S gsd:all --set gsd:clock=800

it stys at a steady stable 27 MH with low HW errors.

which i use every time there is a new BFG so far it works and adds supports for all my miners , if you watch at the end it tells you what is disabled and enabled and how to do it if it's not .

I do it inside a PI,  haven't tried in  windows yet but plan to. or know how to in windows with other software

cross compiling, I believe it's called Smiley .

I'm guessing at why you want those I know why just don't know the detailed way of explaining it were it makes sense .

this is not needed any more

build-essential autoconf automake libtool pkg-config libcurl4-gnutls-dev libjansson-dev uthash-dev libncursesw5-dev libudev-dev libusb-1.0-0-dev libevent-dev libmicrohttpd-dev hidapi

 if you  do this

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

BFG does the rest unless you use a custom made bfg or fork of BFG then you may need to add some stuff inside the BFG folder for it to compile right which I know how to. but see no need right now for a custom fork , it seems really stable for any thing you throw at it + there has been no real hard ware that has needed a BFG fork or they dislike BFG.
I added --enable-broad-udevrules

just encase after looking at the read me

Include udev rules for ambiguous devices which may not be miners

2250  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S7 controller has nine 18- pin jacks So what can we do with it? on: September 07, 2015, 09:31:39 PM
okay
controller is below

nine 18 pin jacks means 9 blades are possible ?

so we need some longer 18 pin cables and we could make a copy of the s-5+

also if you have 2 s-7's you can pull 1 controller off line and run 6 blades on one controller giving a spare  backup controller.

So we need a source for cables that are a bit longer.

So does anyone have a source for these cables?

and maybe even keep using your S5 a long with it from what tupsu said he did  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=858962.0 Smiley . some one on Ebay was selling those cables i never gave it much thought then
and didn't bookmark it or save it in any way wish i had now because i can't find it and need some cables made .

ty pinhead666  that helped a lot and philipma1957 found it on ebay http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1311.R1.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xjst.TRS0&_nkw=jst+connector&_sacat=0

--enable-gridseed that include those of 40 chips blade correct?

by default using ./configure CFLAGS="-O3" --enable-scrypt when you compile it  should add support for all Grindseeds, at least it did for me for my G back and my 80 chip 5.2 MH speed GS when i had it. I even tested adding in --enable-gridseed either way it worked , i think adding that makes sure it enables support for all grindseeds, but it's not needed from what Ive done .but

--enable-scrypt is no matter what if you want any kind of Scrypt support in BFG enabled.

I think CFLAGS is used for GCC optimization or any kind of optimization and  there is diff levels of speed you can set it at O2 O3 etc but I'm still learning how it all works and  can very well be wrong and first to admit it.
2252  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer Controller / Hashboard mixtures (S3 / S5) on: September 07, 2015, 08:09:27 PM
From other posts it looks like S5 & S5+ controllers & firmware can be freely mixed and work.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1152746.msg12343462#msg12343462

Even with modified cables I suspect that an S3 could not be plugged to an S5 Controller, however noone has reported trying it.

Rich

I can confirm the S5 + firmware DOES work on an other S5 controller , i did it on my dead S5 that needs two 16 pin boards.

so that's very temping if he has them still when i get the coin i may buy one S5 + board and put in on my 18  pin S5 and sell off that S5 hash board.

OP is wanting to make a S3/S5 mixture.  I have never seen this done.

I don't think it's something that will be able to be done.  At least not without some sort of custom controller and I don't think it would be worth dev for one of the engineers on the board to make.

i would think the same two diff controller types might cost to much to do . I only put that in about the S5 so he knows about it . Smiley .

NICEHASH S5 FIRMWARE--

The mining site NiceHash "www.nicehash.com" has a firmware for the S5 that includes an upgrade to CGminer 4.9 with extranonce control.  I have downloaded it, but I have not flashed it.  I do not know what version of Antminer S5 firmware the CGminer mod is coupled with.  Here is the link:

https://www.nicehash.com/download/AntMiner-S5-SD-firmware_cgminer_4.9.0_nicehash_and_performance_graph.tar.gz

Has anyone tried this firmware?  It is packaged in an archive, just like the official updates.  I'd like to know if anyone has used it, and the results.

Thanks for any information or opinions!       --scryptr

I have tried it but it didn't work right for me on some sites that don't use #xnsub it actually slows my miner . i use one his other ones that works great but has no #xnsub support.

Above are two photos of my Antminer S5 with the plastic taken off.  Now its the only
S5 I have that has this design.  It is almost exactly the same as the S5+ with the chips
having their own individual heatsinks.  I have 3 other AntMiner S5's and they are all the same
like all of the pictures taken of the miners.

Can anyone explain to me why these chips/heatsinks are different?

Did I score the S5+ hashing boards before they were released in a product by mistake Smiley

Any knowledge would be great.

Thanks

PS, couldnt figure out how to post a picture straight in the forum so I uploaded them to dropbox.

Any help would be great.

This will do it Smiley

Am I the only one whose rate is fixed regardless of consumption, the time of day or month of year? I also don't have any added transmission fees and such that a lot of folks talk about. This applies to both my house and the shop, which have different providers.

Could be a Midwest thing.  I also am flat rate no transmission fee or summer/winter rate.    Does not matter what time of year it costs me the same.  I had a few locations in Midwest all this way besides student housing.

I sent you a PM aswell.

mines at 8.55 till Dec 2016 same fixed but  BG AND E has other charges i can't aviod  Sad. but my supplier is 8.55 no mater what time of day, month, year and cheapest you can get even for a business rate were i live  etc .

SO i don't seem off topic, i hope youn all can get some of the new Chips I'm in for two of the custom S7 board. Smiley. 2k is just to much imo to spend unless the coins go up a lot , if they do I hope bitmian doesn't get greedy .

That's an issue known to be present with the Pi. If your looking for a stable SBC to run these on, try getting your hands on a Cubieboard with the A10. Rockminer said they did extensive testing with these and they were the most stable SBC to use.

IM using one right now as a proxy i have yet to figure out how to get any image but the cubieez-cb-card-hdmi-v2.0.img for the Cubie 1 board that comes with the bitcaine miner. once i do know I'll put minera in it . Smiley .

I bought the cubie for 19 bucks a month ago from new egg they sent me a email link couldn't pass that up . it's back up to 34 bucks .
if they do it again i may buy two more just the cubie the miner it self is not worth it, i didn't buy it .

YEA they are much better then even the new pI 2, the PI is more refined which makes it better, which i have also .

Hi Luke,

I am interested in mining on raspberry PI 2 with latest version of bfgminer.

I read readme and I unsure to the dependencies that I need to built miner as shown on bellow to enable scrypt and gridseed asic 80 chip!

I left some other commands out in below code to build miner as I am not sure what need entered after dependencies installed.

Code:
git clone https://github.com/luke-jr/bfgminer.git
cd bfgminer
...

Can you help by providing complete codes?
I assume everything is completed, bfgminer will disable CPU and radeon GPU?

Well, I know enough how log in PI 2 at least!

when you compile it with --enable-scrypt it should give you all the driver and packages you need . there was a bug a while back that didn't down load all the right packages you had do some of them manually but that seems to be fixed or was .

here is a kind of detailed post i made on the minera thread some one wanted to know how to compile BFG , I'm sure there is a few things you can leave out etc, but it may help .

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=596620.msg12033743#msg12033743

I'm using it inside minera right now at bfg 5.3 Smiley . with my gblack which has 5 blades with two boards per blade/heat sink and the above command line some one gave should work.
