Sense it pretty much is a Alchemist miners same chips and boards , at full speed some were around 2200 watts at the wall  more or  less, i own the Alchemist version they are one in the same and you can up date this  with this firmware and I use a custom PI controller on mine .

Smiley ...

Don't forget  PAYPAL has a business master card which i have, you can use, but not sure you can with butmain, they don't take CC yet  ? , I'm aware of, unless you do it the PAYPAL way, link a CC and Pay that way, which I do a lot, and have for years, i was one of the first to sigh up for paypal back when they offered 5 bucks or more for signing up .when the service seemed like it was gonna fail, don't know if anyone here remembers those days . well any way im getting off topic .

Are they going to support RPi's as a controller as well? I have no experience with "Orange" Pi's.

In fact I hadn't heard of them before the related A7 posts. Had to google it.

I have some pi's  wtf is an orange pi?

 links

https://www.amazon.com/Orange-Pi-Single-Computer-Cortex-A7/dp/B018W6OTIM/ref=sr_1_1?

http://www.orangepi.org/

orange PI are a newer faster better cheaper PI then rasp pi. they have more support then some think . There is more of them as well in there product line.

I had few Facebook messages with Canaan.io today, but only thing they could say is that news are coming soon.

That's all they keep telling me but I trust it will come Smiley. there sending me a free MCU for my out of warranty Avalon 6 , I messed up trying to update to the MM dated AUG 15th, all i have to do is tell others which, I'll do gladly not that they need me to but i will . to me the Avalon product line is the best miner so far but Ive said this before after owning  2 . even the A6 i thought was very quiet till i screwed up the MCU.

my guess is yes !!! why not . orange pi's use the same OS as rpi, same command line etc .if you use a rpi then using a orange is the same.

1268  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: August 29, 2016, 06:52:11 PM
Its funny, they claim that this is for the home miners, who coincidentally were the ones who footed the bill for the original S1 units they made and bought them in drones so that Bitmain could grow, only to release better products to try and swindle those home miners again.

Shame on you Bitmain.  Without home miners you may not have ever gotten off the ground, and now you pull this crap with absurdly high prices.

exactly !!!! .
1269  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: August 29, 2016, 05:05:00 PM
greedily, as usually there not giving anything up your better off spending, a few hundred more and buy a s9 then mode the S9 after warranty o wait they don't honor there warranty either. o well,

the selling point has to be quiet and what is there idea of quiet.

the Avalon's are quiet and can be run all most any were over what bitmain did after the S3, but it will sell, i don't blame anyone for buying a R4, if they do, i wouldn't even if i could afford one, if it had been priced maybe at 1k  or little less, I would have got the cash to gather . I want to at least feel i got something that is worth what i paid for it, ROI doesn't mean to much to me unless your idea of ROI is mine there are other ways of looking at ROI like how long will it last was it worth the cash i paid etc not will it make back what i put into it Smiley .

Your looking at an over 400 day ROI for a home user.  No thank you!  Why are they pricing it so high?  It should be in the $800 or less range.

all i can think is they have to much and are greedily, and can be and they know it .

I Know ive seen them on Ebay both atx amd server psu's  , you mean ATX or server ?. both should do the job on a 110 line with no issue.
1271  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: August 29, 2016, 02:41:56 PM
Bitmain WANs us to focus on the $1000 r4?  Grin

Can we mine altcoin through this miner as i am new to this mining field, and what percentage of hashpower will it use to mine the altcoin and what about the software to mine it. and what algorithm will it use to mine the altcoin. If any one can help me with the spec of this miner.

if you would rather mine PPC with your R4 once you have it, here is one of the many POOLS you can mine PPC on https://peercoin.ecoining.com it must pay something ,some miner park S9 and S7  A6 on that POOL .

Trade those PPC here for ETH or BTC or whatever coin they support . https://shapeshift.io/#/coins

8 mins my time good luck .

i made this post  after this one https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1597639.0, i didn't see it, but the way it looks you can it comes with one according to the tweet and this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1597639.0 ,  if your asking to save cash.

I don't think it gonna be sold with out  A PSU but no idea what the price is yet, unless you do some math, then it might be 1000 $ or around there, other wise it's guessing.

The Bitmain guy said 1300$ is "best estimate for now but it might change", i believe. (In the announcement thread)

I just wonder how "silent" this really is. After all, "quiet" for them is 80dB, so "silent" could be 60dB Tongue

IF that's the price i won't be getting one . i can't afforded it one reason and my other reason and why i never bought a S7 and could have the price is to high,(it's a mortal thing )even if i could afford this, i wouldn't and i would buy one or two more A6 s first, I like them more . I honestly believe Avalon is a better company, so far, there not giving me a lot of shit over getting parts, if I  need them . and have sent me some free parts bitmain wouldn't .

Your right about the price that's  with the PSU, it might cost 1300 .

Power supply is extra. Best estimates are $1000 for the miner and $300 for PSU (may change.), so that makes it temping .

i have lots of break out boards and PSU's im not using now, it's cheaper for me to order a PSU off ebay for 30 bucks tops with free shipping that will run this with out issue no noise then pay them 300 .
1273  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: August 29, 2016, 06:15:52 AM
So, what is the price on this, anybody knows?
I see $1000 and i see $1300 (or maybe $1300 is with PSU).
I don't care about PSU, and will definetly not pay $1300 for a 8.6Th miner.

If they try this, i see a benefit of pushing used S7 prices way up (to $450-500 territory).

@Swimmer63

eth-not really that challenging. There is a learning curve, but not a very steep one.
I am sure a lot of newbs burn antminers in the first few minutes. I remember setting up a first S1. Oh, boy!

I got a feeling it won't be sold without a PSU for warranty reason. For what ever warranty's they do honor .

How i came up with a 1000 $ per miner was i looked up the price of the S9 then divided that by 12.93 th and got about 123.xxxx  for the price per th and multiplied 8.45 by 123.xxx, that came to about 1089 or so .
but it's all guessing till they go on sell in a few hours.

Eth is not hard, to set up at all, in fact, I like it more then setting up a antminer which can be a bear some times, because, i try to do more, then i need to .

i read it more seems you won't be forced to by there PSU Smiley ...

1274  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitfury: "16nm... sales to public start shortly" on: August 28, 2016, 07:12:40 AM
Bitfury has the weekend to come up with something:

https://enshop.bitmain.com/products/antminer-r4-silent-bitcoin-miner.html

Don't worry bitfury won't be selling anything to the public unless you have a mill or more , i hope I'm wrong  but I'm not .

I bet they don't even watch this post any more it served it's propose for now.

make me wonder what the A7 is gonna do sense Avalon's  so far are meant for everyone but if the R4 is actually priced reason ably I'm sure I'll get at least 2 if not more.

what electric rate do you have (curious) me at 14c kwh (11c kwh winter) it is not likely I will get one with more then 1 year ROI at this point. (if it is around 1.3k with psu)

remember I don't mine for ROI my power is kind of free but no power is free some one pays some how but i do pay the bill form time to time as needed and right now with all fees 11 Cents per kwh, it may or may not go up in Nov, my set rate expires . mine is 11 cents all year long but the power company all ways fines ways to screw us.

how can anyone base a true ROI on something that's not even priced yet, won't that depend on the cost of the miner , unless your excluding the price for now .

I'm willing to bet this will be priced at or around 1000 bucks USD .

I'll bet it sells for around 1k or a little less , so I'll stay with GPU's . yea agree that's someything to worry about ...
