2261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's up with Ripple? on: April 20, 2017, 12:34:42 PM
go to coinmarketcap or any other chart providing services, your exchange included and go to Ripple page and then continue to zoom out until you see the cycles!

the explanation is very simple, what is pumped needs to be dumped. Ripple was worth about 700-900 satoshi and when the pump time arrived for all the altcoins it went up to 3000+ satoshi and now it is coming down as everyone exits slowly and then others who bought on top and were bag holding give up on profit and sell at a loss.

and it is happening to all the altcoins and will continue to happen until they are back at normal low price levels.

2262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you see alts have chances against Bitcoins? on: April 20, 2017, 12:30:33 PM
Bitcoin continues to establish as a,strongest and the most valuable cryptocurrency. This hasn't come over knight and can't be replaced over knight but at the moment I also can't see that some other cryptocurrency has the potential to go through that way and take Bitcoin's position.
I wouldn't say it's impossibe but it will not happen for a long time.

Altcoins are growing stronger and stronger than before, however, only really powerful altocoins are able to compete with bitcoin, as most altcoins are copied from bitcoin, but are used with a different name. . Only a few altcoins are fully developed. And those altcoins are really powerful, they have absolutely a chance to compete fairly with bitcoin. But bitcoin is really too powerful, it has taken over all other altcoins from the moment it is formed.

define strong.
what you see is some trouble in bitcoin world that caused a lot of FUD and then as we all saw price was manipulated down to $880-$900 for a short term and panic spread throughout the market.
now altcoins used this situation and started their propaganda against bitcoin while pumping their price. but as we can see now, bitcoin is back to $1200+ and all those altcoins are declining day by day.
2263  Economy / Speculation / Re: Take profits now! on: April 20, 2017, 12:15:19 PM
There is still a chance that the Bitcoin ETF will be listed in any of the major stock exchanges. If that happens, then we can expect the exchange rates to appreciate by as much as 50% to 100%.

woah. 50%-100% you mean just being listed as an ETF which doesn't bring money into bitcoin directly can cause the price to go up to $1800-$2400. there is no way that can happen because of ETF, it it were anything else i would have agreed but not ETF!
and you should keep in mind that bitcoin has been rising 100-150% each year regardless of all this.

damn, why isn't this already in the first page. consider this as a bump.
is this the same project: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1573035.0
i have seen this a long time ago and thought of it as shady. never went through it though.
and if so why isn't anything being done about it as in removing the topic or banning the user spreading this

also it seems that OP of that topic has been tagged a while ago by gmaxwell

2265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin SegWit will be activated in less than 11 days on: April 18, 2017, 09:59:53 AM
Still a long way to go, 10 days or 2 weeks depending on the hashrate. Anything can go wrong at any second. It peaked at 0.0019 satoshis today, and now, 0.0098 satoshis, im glad that I didn't buy, maybe we can buy back cheaper.

what, 0,0019 sat ? when litecoin price hit this point ?
are you serious about this,, i think your typo is wrong or forget to delete one 0 (zero)

regards

well if you had an investment then you would have known and you should have cared, and if you didn't have any litecoin then why would you even care Smiley
besides you can always open a chart and check for yourself. what he said is simply a type with a misplaced zero. price went up to 0.0109BTC (0.01085BTC on polo)

All in all what is it good for ? Litecoin was meant to be 4 times quicker than Bitcoin anyway to address the slow transaction problems Bitcoin has from time to time........

it fixes malleability problem and then it also opens up way for lightening network.
but most important of all, it is a check to see how SegWit and LN would work on bitcoin. how the network and miners are going to be affected by this and a lot more. then eventually lead to a more definite decision on bitcoin.
2266  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin prices go to the moon? on: April 18, 2017, 09:50:39 AM
BTC price is already hovering around 1200 $ from a month now almost. It has fallen back many times and arose just above 1200 and taking a dip. Its trying to stabilize at 1200 currently bu the momentum is below 1200$ at present market. Around 1100$ in coming time.

What makes you think BTC will drop to $1,100 in the near future? All I can see nowadays is rising. The panic selling which happened in March is over and I can see no reasons for the price of BTC to drop now or in the days to come.

I don't think bitcoin prices will go to the moon soon, but I think we can expect 20% growth in the year 2017.

people usually make random speculation on this forum, you should learn not to pay attention to those who are just saying numbers without some included logic to back it up.

my logic is like this if anyone was interested, and i am not claiming to 100% right:
at the moment there is a big uncertainty about bitfinex and the fact that their deposit and withdrawals are disabled.
they claim it is because of the issue with their bank. if that is the truth (which i think it is) that should be fixed soon and things will be back to normal. there may be some fluctuations sideways because price is out of balance right now with BFX being higher than most exchanges and bitstamp being unusually lower.

if not and there are more things going on outside of our knowledge then there will be some small disturbance. this means a price drop mostly because of panic and FUD not a real threat.
2267  Economy / Speculation / Re: [UPDATE] $1,200 HITTED (Next goal is $1,300) on: April 18, 2017, 09:45:00 AM
We are on a brink of great shift again. There are rumors that Russia might acknowledge bitcoin as legal currency.
If that happens we will see: price increase, and it will most likely motivate other countries to view bitcoin in more friendly way.
Because of that even despite never ending scaling crisis price of bitcoin might be stable and growing.

the USSR already accepted Bitcoin right? At least I saw it on the internet. They still consider it?
Anyway if it isnt confirmed yet I dont really see it happening. Lot of russian crypto fanatics want to stay anonymous because they are scared of their Russian goverment.
This is why almost the whole ETC team is anonymous. They are all Russian. Why would they be so scared when BTC become legal in Russia?
Things could always shift around, bitcoin could be accepted one day and then governments realize that bitcoin is  being used by the average person to avoid taxes and the next day bitcoin is banned all over the world, better be safe than sorry.

Why are you being so pessimistic over bitcoins with such statements like "bitcoin is banned"? Even if it does, governments can't stop that average person who is trying to avoid taxes, to not use VPNs which would give access to his coins without any interference of anything, and do you really think that bitcoins would get banned "all over the world"? Is it that easy for anyone to ban it knowing that their citizens' money is involved in it? The market cap is an example itself that how much money is involved currently in bitcoins, do you think these big companies will let governments shut down their circus that easy?

your IP address is not recorded anywhere and there is no "provable" way to link an IP address to your transactions and your bitcoin.
the only thing the government can to is to close the port that bitcoin client uses (i think it is 8003) in which case the beauty of bitcoin is that you can push your transaction to the bitcoin network via any tool. even a simple website online or post it on reddit or something completely anonymous and ask someone to push it without need of a VPN and for receiving bitcoin you don't need internet at all!
2268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitfinex- bank blocked all their deposits on: April 18, 2017, 09:39:57 AM
as soon as you start feeling the drama is over and want to take a breath in peace you'll see another drama pop up and the community starts talking about it everywhere. don't get me wrong it is good to inform but the drama part is a unique aspect of bitcoin.

i really hope the news is actually what it seems to be. the bank blocking their deposits not bitfninex doing some shady stuff and preparing a run away plan. although they could have done it much easier and with more money back when they were hacked.
2269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin & crypto-currencies in your watch: diamonds and more from Switzerland" on: April 17, 2017, 11:04:31 AM
There are currently two countries in the whole world that interest me greatly. Japan and Switzerland.
Japan is the hot topic of these days and it is obvious that acceptance of bitcoin as a legal currency in that country is great.
but also Switzerland for both being a good country and also ever since i heard you can buy bitcoin from any ticket machine in the whole country i have been interested to find out more.

Would you store and trade digital currencies in your swiss watch?[/b][/b]

no, i still prefer the good old way of storing money on paper and in my mattress Wink
2270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Fun Challenge: Can You Spot the Pump-and-Dumps on: April 17, 2017, 10:53:11 AM
yes it is possible to detect a pump and dump from the chart. and it is easy, when you open a chart and see a big rise without any reason followed by a sharp initial drop and then slow death, that is a pump and dump for you.

the real question is "can you spot a pump before it happens".
i am going to go with YES on this one too but it is much harder and needs a trained eye. for example before the pump happens, they have to have bought the coins, and that buying phase causes some disturbance in the regular charts in both price and volume.
2271  Economy / Economics / Re: I hate Cryptocurrency on: April 17, 2017, 10:44:59 AM
you are confusing 3 different things:
1) trading (most probably altcoin trading and losing your money because of pump and dumps)

2) blockchain technology (which is just a technology, bitcoin uses it, altcoins use it, banks and many other fields use it)

3) crypto currencies (as a currency, for example using bitcoin to purchase stuff online and stay anonymous to some extent).

I have seen enough similar topics to say there is a good change your hate comes from option number 1. and that is right, we all hate altcoins and their pump and dumps, Instamined (no pun intended) coins, the ICOs and all the crap they pull.

one thing is for sure though, insulting everyone who replies to you is not going to solve anything and won't bring your money back.
2272  Economy / Speculation / Re: YORK's price prediction topic. on: April 17, 2017, 10:36:29 AM
COINBASE FAKE 'ERROR' DUMPS

Strange things going on at Coinbase.
Just gonna leave this here.

these are not dumps, these are proving that Coinbase owners/developers are incompetent.
there was a scheduled maintenance yesterday and because of that they emptied their orderbook, closed down, did the maintenance and when they came back online the orderbook was empty with charts showing bitcoin price down to $0.06 (and i read someone that some people even dumped bitcoin because of panic on coinbase at around $1050.) i say these are not dumps because what i saw was just the price not an order being filled.

that ridiculous percentage for bitcoin and possibly for all other markets is because it is calculating it with $0.06 and $1179
2273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin scaling: Looks like all roads lead to LTC on: April 17, 2017, 10:14:09 AM
LTC will pullback a bit here, but it is going much higher. Feel safe to enter at 0.01035. And make sure you buy LTC before April 19 when BTC will begin its decline by -30% due to the Scalepocalyspe (and possibly some other event involved ing BitFUnix or such).

Note LTC will make a peak price some where far above 0.0106, then it will decline back to long-term support. Then over the next 2 years LTC will make a ATH (as priced in BTC) which is means higher than 0.04. So holding LTC after the pullback will mean quadrupling your BTC over the next 2+ years.

litecoin is going to get pumped soon but it has nothing to do with what you are saying literary all over the forum.
litecoin will rise because of its SegWit and also because of the fact that for the past 6 or 7 days, whales have been accumulating and crushing any rise above 0.01BTC to be able to accumulate more in lower price range.

and you keep repeating the bitcoin crash which with the information that we have (without having a time machine) is impossible.
because the only issue is the issue with bitfinex bank and that is not even big. and at best that is only a possibility and nothing more. which makes your -30% a shot in the dark.
2274  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC doing good after this big dump on: April 15, 2017, 10:13:46 AM
Professional money might have flown into Bitcoin if we had one of the ETFs approved.
i took the effort twice now and i am still standing on what i said.

"professional money" will come into bitcoin without needing any ETF (which means direct investment not through indirect channels), and that is actually because it is decentralized and SEC or any other thing is not watching it.

and as i said from what i have understood from ETF, whoever invests in ETF is not benefiting from bitcoin, it is like investing in any other centralized bond or whatever and many professional traders won't bother with this way of investment. many regular traders might.

Reason for the drop of $60 ? :

BTC spiked bigtime when Wang Chun was posting that Bitcoin wont fork and cant fork.
This guy has some serious influence.

EDIT: beware that he posted this on 13 april 7:15 a.m, dont get distraced by the date on the screenshot.
45 min later BTC dropped.

this guy is seriously messing with everything price related these days. and the worst (or funny) party is that it seems to be effective.

it is not yet so long after his little stunt about the litecoin and that stupid tweet (not so different than this one) about SegWit on litecoin and him not being so sure about it!

it makes you wonder how much he is making from these price swings.
true. This guy first created a lot of SegWit hype, and now he's saying that he doesnt support it on BTC. He's just so obvious in his trading strategy. So he sold a couple days ago and bought back in at the current dip. This is one of the reasons why I hate centralized mining. They have taken Bitcoin as a hostile for now, disrupting its progress and they can fully create a pump by their own. Only thing that they need to do is spreading FUD or SegWit hype because of their miningpower.

i think he liked the market (price) reaction to his tweets last time he did this because he is doing it again.
https://twitter.com/f2pool_wangchun/status/853047376608600065

the only good news is that despite all these tweets f2pool is actually signalling SegWit on both bitcoin and litecoin.
2276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons of why bitcoin accepting shopping sites are not famous on: April 15, 2017, 09:41:13 AM
the only problem is that people either don't know about bitcoin or they know about it but they are not willing to spend any of it because it is their investment and they want to become a millionaire overnight by holding it tight.

otherwise if you know about bitcoin (not just know it exists but know what bitcoin offers you when you use it, like the features or benefits whatever you want to call it) you can easily find places to buy stuff you need. and even with good discounts.
2277  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC doing good after this big dump on: April 15, 2017, 09:35:55 AM
There are fresh news from us bonds market.US bonds has broke support level, will be sell off, dollar will goes down and sell offs on stocks will begin, ood of money will looking for new investments,so if small part of that money will come to btc will be btc hossa,do not forget about french elections it may shake Europe
Professional money might have flown into Bitcoin if we had one of the ETFs approved. They are looking for a way to benefit from Bitcoin's potential, without actually hodling Bitcoin. ETFs are perfect for that.

These high level investors aren't really interested to buy themselves into Bitcoin through exchanges. They are looking for a professional platform that suits them, and one that is being watched by the SEC.

the "professional money" as you call it, will come into bitcoin if it wants to and it always does it when it is smart (meaning while there is a dip like when it went down to $900 or when it was $450 or better yet when it was $200).

and from what i understand from ETF, you don't invest money in bitcoin you invest money in ETF and buy something like shares from that ETF and that has nothing to do with bitcoin.
although as i said this before, ETF approval could have been a good positive news for bitcoin.
2278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you stop someone forcing you to hand over your private key and taking all on: April 15, 2017, 09:23:17 AM
this is such a rare thing and it probably will never happen to anyone in real life except people who publicly say "we have this much bitcoin and here is our location."

so one solution is prevention.
you never let anyone know "you" have any bitcoin, or at least never show them how much you keep in your cold storage.

One thing one can do is leave Bitcoins on an exchange that will only allow you to withdraw $1000 worth per day, but then you run the risk of the exchange being hacked....what are the other options?

that exchange service will run away and leave you wishing you never did it in the first place.

p.s. in the scenarios you are describing, a gun to your head or a kidnapped family then just contact police or give up the money before they kill you Smiley

2280  Economy / Economics / Re: One Reason not to be "All Inn" on any Single Investment for Long on: April 13, 2017, 10:16:41 AM
It depends. If youre a person who doesnt have enough money to make diversifying make sense then going all in in one stock or one altcoin and hope for the best is your only ticket out and create a meaningful amount in your life.
Huh I think that people should have money and then do research and have at least 2 or 3 investments.
If you have only money to invest in one place, I suggest you do not knife it, wait until you have the money to make 2 or more investments.

if you don't have enough money you can not diversify there is no point in that since you are not getting any benefits out of it. so it is best to go "all in" in one thing that you think has the best to offer you in sense of profit and stick to it.

and "waiting around to make more money then invest" is a terrible advice in my opinion. you can use that "wait around" time to double what you already have.
