Honestly, I still think that BTC value follows Einstein's Theory of Relativity: BTC price is never stable, not for a single moment. But to our eyes, actually to our brains, sometimes it looks relatively stable only because we don't see candles going up & down.
By looking at it this way I bought in below $200: it's BITCOIN that matters, not the price

That is a good relativity theory  and you are one of the lucky fellows who invested when the price was around $200 ,the main attraction of bitcoin is the high volatile nature of bitcoin and if you are trader you can make the most profit with the constant movement. in my experience price is obviously not following einstein. schrödinger is the physicist who described bitcoin much more accurately: as long as you don't check the exchanges (=schrödinger's BOX) bitcoin (schrödinger's CAT) is either dead or mooning. it is dead AND mooning at the same time until you open the box. that is the exact reason why you will find lots of media/blog/forum posts "bitcoin is dead" while you count your stash wondering "are we rich yet" at the same time. |

Heute beim einer Minertreffen in XXX gewesen Ich möchte etwas für die Neuen/Anfänger auch klein sparrer sagen: haltet euch vom Käufen zurück, es werden demnächst sehr gute, sehr günstige Einstieg Möglichkeiten kommen. Und glaubt bloß nicht den alten Usern hier, weil sie wie falsche Propheten schneller aussteigen werden als ihr nur denkt. Für Long‘is, geduldige mit viel Asche gibt kein Handlungsbedarf  die neuen user sind viel vertrauenswürdiger. wenn die eine behauptung in den raum stellen, dann braucht es keine begründung/vermutung/argumente. dann genügt ein: ich weiss etwas, das ihr nicht wisst, aber ich verrat es euch nichtdas hat mich überzeugt. hab sofort alle coins verkauft, freu mich schon auf die sehr günstigen einstiegsmöglichkeiten. die miner wissen halt bescheid. die wissen am ehesten was vom "günstig einsteigen" ist ja deren täglich brot.... wait..what? |

2013 reichte ein fake news "china bans bitcoin" um einen multiyear downtrend einzuleiten. dazu kam ein paar monate später das MTGOX fiasko und der kurs rutschte bis unter 200 €. 2017 hat die PBOC bereits drei (!) mal eingegriffen, jeweils wenn der preis über die 1000 € ging. das waren keine fake news sondern knallharte erzwungene änderungen des geschäftsmodells der chinesischen börsen. chinavolume 95% kollabiert und jetzt noch monatelange bitcoin freezes und der preis steht bei 992 dollar auf bitstamp. ich hatte selbst erwartet wir bekommen einen weiteren 35% schock - aber bisher nur zwischen 2 und 7% in den letzten 7 tagen (=normale schwankung) zusammen mit der superschnellen erholung nach dem 35% drop ab 5. januar und der wenig beachteten tatsache, das der bitfinex hack letzten sommer den gegenwärtigen uptrend nicht aufhalten konnte, ist das für mich ein hinweis darauf, dass dieser uptrend viel ausdauer hat. nicht mal die PBOC wird das baldige neue ath aufhalten können. ich glaube, dass nicht mal ein totalverbot aller chinesischen börsen diesen uptrend umkehren würde. das würde uns ein halbes jahr kosten, mehr nicht. für mich ist das superbullisch. (disclaimer: normalerweise müsste der kurs nach so einer ansage sofort 50 € absacken. . wenn das nicht passiert: moooooon ... ) edit 2017 |

meine prognose ist das bitstamp heute nacht durchhält, vielleicht ein oder zwei kurze 990er absacker, aber ansonsten um die $1k schlingert bis zum nächsten push up. der wird innerhalb der nächsten 24 std kommen (eher früher als später) und uns an die 1040 bringen. wer wagt noch so eine prognose für die kommenden 24h stunden? blamieren garantiert, also... |

fun fact: all major exchanges listed on bitcoinwisdom show rarely seen close price levels. also € and russian ruble are within the same narrow range (current rates) Bitstamp 1002.8 BTC-e 994.432 Bitfinex 999 OKCoin 995.71/6847.9 Ruble 1008.0 (btce) € 1007.7(kraken) those are almost within 1% range. i cannot recall seeing them within such a thin range. edit: almost editII: its coiling up. breakout within few hours.  |

$300million added to the current value would be a small single digit increase. But the price will go much higher, more like 30% then there will be a huge correction. This is only assuming the ETF takes off of course.
$300Mn inflow into bitcoin won't result in a $300Mn increase in market cap/value.  When an ETF decides to buy $300Mn worth of bitcoins, due to lack of adequate market depth, the price could shoot up. This would result in the market cap going up by billions of dollars. you both got it wrong. if $300 million buy bitcoin within a few days it would raise the price way more than single digit. currently it needs $400k to raise the price $20 on bitstamp. multiply that by 10 for the ten biggest exchanges (=$4 mio) and the price would rise $20 on 10 biggest exchanges. $40 mio injection would equal a $200 rise $400 mio injection would equal a $2000 rise. after a $2000 rise btc would be at a $3000 level. if one btc is traded at $3000 the current market cap would equal approx. 48 billion. that is only considering the ten biggest exchanges. i am not sure how many exchanges are needed to really raise the price. my guess is that they would just follow. |

Keep in mind all these guys are mostly in for making money. I doubt that even one of them is a true Bitcoin lover.Also the Winklevoss bros are only business men, 100%.
my guess is that this bitcoin thing is - if it gets mainstream traction - their only chance to dwarf zuckerbergs social media empire. they have got 100k btc. (worth $100mio) one must have some sympathy for the coin to keep so many, imho. zuckerberg is worth $56 billion. lol, bitcoin has to 560fold for them to catch up. hm... long shot. |

Bis hier: Eines scheint mir im Übrigen politökonomisch ziemlich klar: Würde ein Anbieter wie Bitcoin tatsächlich einmal eine dominante Stellung als wirkliche Währung erreichen (entgegen meiner Erwartung), so würde es kaum lange dauern, bis er vom Staat übernommen und ähnlich reguliert und kontrolliert würde wie die heutigen Zentralbanken und Zahlungssysteme.
Also wohl wieder mal jemand, der die Crux nicht verstanden hat.... Aber zumindest ein bisschen Presse, mal wieder. es ist auch nicht so leicht für die herren journalisten. da die wenigsten die technologie des protokolls verstehen können sie nur das bekloppte "drogen/geldwäsche/spinner" narrativ aufbacken. wenn sie das nicht wollen, dann bleibt nur reisserisch über den kurs -von "explodiert" bis "kollabiert" zu berichten. da ist das problem, dass jedesmal, wenn einer was über steigende kurse schreibt und das dann gedruckt wird und die leute schauen sich die charts an, dann ist der kurs gerade mal wieder abgestürzt (oder vice/versa) und der schreiberling hat sich blamiert. dann bleibt für journalisten nur noch die technische seite. aber von der haben sie keine ahnung. alos fragen sie experten. welche experten? na klar - die selben IT experten (aka dinosaurier), die sie immer fragen. leider haben aber die meisten IT experten (vor allem die dinos) selbst auch keinen schimmer von der revolutionären technologie des bitcoin protokolls. wie sie es auch anpacken, die chance einen bericht über bitcoin allerpeinlichst zu verkacken ist immer recht gross. daher trauen sich die meisten journalisten garnicht erst dran. |

how can bitcoin price drop down, and not only drop down small but drastically to 500 range only because of something that never existed and gets denied for existence!!! that makes no sense. i have seen bitcoin entering a multiyear downtrend based on a china ban that never existed. |

Auf Bitfinex gibt es ja atm so viele Shorts wie noch nie, bin mal gespannt was da passiert. Next Hack wie 2016 Stell mal vor Trump bekommt gesagt das Bitcoin für die Finanzierung des nächsten Terroranschlages verwendet wurde. lieber member count1. wieso immer so pessimistisch? in jedem post  stellen wir uns lieber mal vor scaling issue wird gelöst, ETF kommt und PBOC erklärt btc zur offiziellen reservewährung... |

wir müssen der PBOC dankbar sein. immerhin haben sie den anstand gehabt das extrem aufgeblasene volumen erst auf reale werte zu senken, bevor der heutige transaktions-freeze kam. stellt euch mal vor die hätten diesen freeze gemacht, als die halbe welt noch glaubte die chinesischen börsen machen 95% aller trades. das wäre ähnlich wie mtgox ausgegangen. immerhin(II): früher konnte eine einzelner katzenbesitzer die bitcoin welt in den abgrund stürzen. heute braucht es schon eine der größten zentralbanken der welt und selbst die schaffen nur 10% pro tag abstürze... |

If all those coins are trapped in China, the supply to the rest of the world will be restricted.
i doubt it that PBOC tries to stop capital outflow by means of restricting the movement of coins. i think they are after money laundering. unfortunately the coins aren´t really trapped. the owners can still sell them and cash out. that is the problem here: it creates selling pressure. imagine you would have coins there and PBOC starts to intervene all the time. what would you do when they do not allow you to move your coins? a) sit it out and wait and pray that exchange does not get shut down by PBOC b) sit it out and wait and pray that exchange does not go bankrupt c) don´t just wait, cash out and play safe. that is what some (most?) people that have coins there will do. and on top of this: imagine you have cash sitting on the exchange. would you want to buy coins that you are not allowed to move? it is not only creating selling pressure, it is also inhibiting buying. we can at least be thankful that the PBOC was nice enough to implode the mega-exaggerated volume FIRST (january 5th dump) and THEN stopped bitcoin withdrawals. imagine the blood bath if they would have done todays move while volume was mega exaggerated. |
