Let’s see what we have in history - picking only long grinding crashes that have lasted more than 7 weeks.  We are currently on week 8.

June 2011:  94%

April 2013:  79%

December 2013:  87%

I think these are our only comparable data points but happy to be corrected. This is not a flash crash.

On this basis we should assume a final price between 79% and 94% down. Let us be conservative and say 75% to 95% price decline.

On this rationale we should buy aggressively between $4,900 down to $980.  Perhaps we should start earlier than $4900 so as not to be greedy but not too much if we believe the model.

in 2013 it took one month to climb to ATH at $1200 and 13 or 14 months to reach bottom. this time around it climbed two years and it seems to be bottoming either now (6 weeks) or soon (2-3 months). i expected it to sink much slower, like it did last time. waiting now for temporary bottom to buy back in and for THE bounce. most critical point will be peak of bounce.

I don't think previous bet was a clarified bet either, which seems necessary, and there was a bit of a problem with the short timeline for the actual bet that was running, even with some lack of the clarification, but just for the sake of compromise, I would like to make the following suggestion.

If the BTC price goes below $7,625.25 on Stamp in February any time before midnight UT on February 28, then you, 600Watt, would have to pay dooglus the full amount that you had originally agreed to, which was .2 BTC, right?  Otherwise, if the BTC price does not go below $7,625.25 on Stamp, before midnight UT on February 28th, then you 600Watt don't have to pay anything to dooglus on the bet.  Even though I think that the amount is too much (but you, 600watt did originally suggest a bet for .2 BTC)...

This kind of new clarified arrangement (or something similar) would keep the spirit of the original unclaried bet while giving some additional time for the clarification of any bet terms while adding the new current low of $7625.25 as the low that would need to be watched to determine whether 600Watt has to pay any BTC to dooglus or not..  Such terms (or something like that) would seem fair and "gentlemanly" to me, and does not seem escrow is necessary, unless you guys change your mind on that part.

I like your idea. thanks for contributing. the only thing is: if it is a "lose only" bet for me, I´d rather reduce it to 0.1 btc. if it would be done in a way that I could also gain when I win the bet, 0.2 btc are ok. after all the odds are against me winning this bet anyway.

so let's do it as you proposed, but with 0.1 btc.
1324  Economy / Speculation / Re: do you think bitcoin will go back to 6000? should i sell now? on: February 04, 2018, 01:32:47 PM
propaganda

Well said but you also need to mention that the cat is out the bag about the Lightning network being
a system of banks and that USDT might all be fake money and its been used to pump Bitcoin

same with you, what are you doing in a bitcoin forum when you don't like it and don't think it will work? what is your contribution towards this forum?

spreading lies and fud. ok, but why would you do that? you invested in some altshitcoin and now with lightning crushing all your getting rich quick dreams you feel the need to shit around in a bitcoin forum.

please go and post your shit in the forum of the shitcoin of your choice.
1325  Economy / Speculation / Re: do you think bitcoin will go back to 6000? should i sell now? on: February 04, 2018, 01:25:58 PM

bitcoin will never ever go up again

ok, you really think that after 9 years of wild up- and downswings, this time bitcoin will never recover?

Quote
the reasons are:

1. technologically outdated, there are better and faster tech basis available, why by bitcoin when its price rise nimbus and hype is gone, and its tech is outdated? do people still buy iphone 1s or old mobile phone?

bitcoin is a software protocol that can and will improve. the only reason it needs to scale is its overwhelming success. if no one uses your beloved altshitcoin, of course it is at the moment faster and cheaper (but WAY less secure). so which are the "better and faster tech"? and what will happen if that "tech" gets adopted? it will run into the same problems as bitcoin does currently. what makes you think other protocols will not run agains the same problems of scaling?
furthermore you compare outdated hardware (iPhone) with software, which seems inappropriate.

Quote
2. still high costs

the costs are not high at all, mempool is empty (and was full because of spam attacks carried out by the wide array of bitcoin enemies. there are enemies from outside the crypto space (banks) and inside (altcoin fanboys). be aware that if the outside enemies succeed to bring down bitcoin, they will also succeed to bring down your altshitcoin.
segwit works and the effect is already noticeable. what high costs are you referring to?

Quote
3. slow.

all my transactions in the last few days got into the next block easily. just a few minutes. what are you talking about?
lightning is coming and it will speed up transactions big time.

Quote
3. propagandistic competition, there are more than 1500 coins now, that challenge communist rule via central banks, the original small bitcoin community is gone an entire new decentral financial market is now in existance

correct. the cultist fanboys of the 1500 shitcoins want to get rich quick.  the altcoin devs didn't think it would be better to develop and push for side chains or additional layers of the bitcoin-protocol. no, better start your own coin and tell everyone "bitcoin is old, slow, expensive outdated - buy OUR new shitcoin because of ... it makes us rich and you will end up holding bags of shitcoin."

you fell for this propaganda and now you even spread it yourself like a mindless parrot.

bitcoin is running and working since 2010. no downtime. constantly attacked 24/7, every second. the altshitcoins are NOT working. they are ideas, plans. no one uses them. no infrastructure. no widespread adoption, just greedy folks wanting to make a quick buck.  of all those 1500 shitcoins, please name me ONE real life use case that that shitcoin is needed for. oh wait, there is ETH, it has a real use case. which is to create more altshitcoins via ICO scamming. wow, great use case.

and the rest? what exactly can I do with cardano? who is using it? ripple, anyone? iota?

I cannot comprehend how so many people can fall for this shit, does does not work, does not do anything - is only a promise.

bitcoin was faced with merciless criticism and doubt by a very alert community from day one - but it was running and could be tested out. altcoins are not faced with anything like that. they are mere ideas and mostly scams.

if you do not believe in bitcoins future I advise you to leave your propaganda in the forums of your shitcoin and not in a bitcoin forum.

if I think motorcycles are outdated, why on earth would I log into a motorcycle forum and tell them motorcycle fans that their tech is not going to make it?

so, farewell and goodbye.
1326  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 20 days for Bitcoin on: February 04, 2018, 09:21:59 AM
looks like this one will be lost also pretty quick. I guess tomorrow already we will be lower than rank 54.

pls send pm with btc address.

We didn't make a bet. I would rather agree on proper terms before considering the bet to be "made".

I can PM you an address if you insist, but there's no need.

I think we did make a bet. the only thing not decided was escrow. imho escrow is not necessary. i don't want to appear like trying to back out of a bet that I have lost.

its up to you. or let's make another bet: I bet we will not go further down than $7625 on stamp in February. 0.1 btc?

1329  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Der Aktuelle Kursverlauf on: February 02, 2018, 11:30:35 PM

https://www.coindesk.com/santander-uk-ripple-payment-app/

ripple macht ne payment app. real life use case für millionen kunden, cross border payments in minutenschnelle.

aber... haltet euch fest:

Quote
Ripple's xCurrent product does not use XRP, the company's native cryptocurrency.

stattdessen:

Quote
The bank had been piloting the app for 18 months with its employees, integrating Apple Pay for payments between £10 and £10,000 ($14 and $14,000), according to Finextra.

1330  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 02, 2018, 11:12:05 PM
for a moment I was stunned when I read this news about the upcoming santander/ripple smartphone-app enabling "same-day cross-border payments in under a minute" for all their customers.

https://www.coindesk.com/santander-uk-ripple-payment-app/

fuck that!- I thought - a fucking real life use case for ripple. after this dip, the next slap in the face?Huh!?!?!

but no worries:

Quote
Customers will be able to use the app to facilitate same-day cross-border payments in under a minute, according to the slide. The app will also provide a digital wallet, a personal finance manager and help aid person-to-person payments.

A Santander spokesperson, said "we plan to launch this in the next few months, and we can confirm on the record that we plan to use xCurrent in the project."

Ripple's xCurrent product does not use XRP, the company's native cryptocurrency.

if I would hold any fucking xrp I would very very very pissed.... Cheesy

so what kind of crypto are they using? what crypto besides bitcoin will have a real life use case ?

oh....

Masterluc thinks it's over.

man, you scared me here for second. "masterluc thinks it's over" could be misunderstood....  Cheesy

if this really was the bottom, I will buy him a beer.  I went back all-in.

fun fact: my father-in-law owns some btc that I keep until the new trezors with bigger display are delivered. during the sept.15 drop he called me and said bitcoin is finished and asked me if I could sell his btc. I knew it was just drop, said "ok" but didn't sell his coins but instead bought back in and made some coins. he called right at the bottom.
i was a bit nervous because I had not done what he asked me to do. his btc went way up afterwards, so he wasn't mad at me. he called me up today when btc went below $8k and again asked me to sell because he thinks bitcoin is finished for good now/will go to zero.

how did masterluc knew when my father-in-law would call?   Cheesy
1333  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's "long-term" pattern of recovering from dips is over on: February 01, 2018, 08:10:17 PM
Everyone here likes to "hodl". It makes sense. Bitcoin has spiked before and provided investors with 10x return or more, and then proceeded to talk 50-80%. This is normal bitcoin behavior and seems to happen again and again, and it always seems to recover and bounce even higher. From that perspective, I totally understand people wanting to remain steadfast and hodl.

That being said, it is now over. Bitcoin is done with this pattern and will not spike again like it has in the past.

The landscape for crypto has fundamentally changed recently. Bitcoin used to be the only option for many people to invest in crypto. The reason it would rise is because there was a large, untapped population of investors who were willing to log into Coinbase and invest because it was very easy to do, and there was a lot of money to be made. Now, this is being spread out among altcoins. While bitcoin itself is championed as being this great deflationary currency, ironically, crypto as a whole is infinitely inflationary as more and more alt coins are created, and made easily accessible on services like Coinbase.

Previously it was one choice - you log into Coinbase and you buy bitcoin. Now it is 4, and this number will only rise. This, on top of government threats, and technical/scalability issues with Bitcoin, are why this pattern is over.

I do not expect Bitcoin to ever set a new all time high again.

thank you for your post. posts like yours are telling me that bottom is getting close. the number one crypto will never go up again because of... ...other cryptos?  what you are forgetting is that every new alt coin is not only competing with bitcoin, but also with every other alt at the same time.

i bet todays bitstamp rank (no 54) will be the lowest rank until end of february.

let´s do 0.2 btc. and a beer.

I think that's pretty crazy, but I'll take your money if you really want to make that bet. Are you OK with using an escrow? OK with using me as an escrow?

looks like this one will be lost also pretty quick. I guess tomorrow already we will be lower than rank 54.

pls send pm with btc address.

I was just kidding. We didn't get to agree terms yet. I'd still be interested in a bet though if you want to propose some more concrete terms.

i bet todays bitstamp rank (no 54) will be the lowest rank until end of february.

let´s do 0.2 btc. and a beer.

Back to the concept of "jinx," dooglus.

I am starting to get worried that you might be out of a job soon..

Those USD numbers in the top 50 are becoming quite BIG.

I wouldn't mind. You would be surprised how badly this job pays.

Minimum basic income my ass!

I take the blame for starting the jinxing madness when I postet about the missing $13k entry a few weeks ago. we have 10 entries in the $13k level now.... that should do it...

checking the list again I see we have visited all levels between $10k and $20k. the only level where we have just one entry is the $19k level. just sayin...
