2341  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Hacking Antminer S17's and T17's because.... are we up to these already???? on: June 23, 2021, 09:45:34 PM
Let me chime in with another tip, do not attempt to clean these gears with a strong air compressor especially when they are hot, the other day I wanted to give the gears a good dusting, took one perfectly working S17 pro, took out the hashboards, put them on a clean table and I blew the life out of them, heatsinks starting flying like mosquitoes, I know since they fell that easily it was only a matter of time before they start falling off, but I could use a month or two of gears running stable.
2342  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Suggested ASIC mining hardware for newbie on: June 23, 2021, 06:16:11 PM
There is no "best" gear for everyone, a single answer that fits everyone's situation does not exist, the most important factor in your decision would be the power cost. So if you have a cheap electricity rate then you might want to buy cheaper mining gears and focus mainly on the cost per TH to utilize that edge of power you have, if your power rate is in the middle then that's a different story if it's on the high end - forget about mining altogether.

2343  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Buying S19s from China (with trade assurance) on: June 23, 2021, 05:56:24 PM
The only way a person can get rich in CHINA is to cheat the buyer, and honest guy always loses in China.

This statement is so mean and is actually racist, you are saying that every successful seller in China is a scammer/liar, which is not the case.

Of course, the majority of those sellers are not honest, but it isn't half as bad as you show it.

The problem with these mining gear sellers on Alibaba and Aliexpress is that most of them do NOT own any mining gears, they will either 'dropship' or buy the miner for you and reship it, some don't even know how to troubleshoot those gears before sending them out, and given that mining gears have a very high failure rate, there is always a good chance you end up with a broken miner.

Those "honest" seller will offer a refund if you return the miner, but well, you will lose a good portion of your money if something like that happens, I have done some deals on Aliexpress, some went well, most were terrible, and I would advise against buying used mining gears from both Alibaba and Aliexpress.

What is the AC voltage at the wall? are you sure you have the M21 and not the M21s?
2345  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Does a Miner have a choice to the Transaction to Process? on: June 23, 2021, 12:19:06 AM
Does a miner actually have the right to choose a transaction to process over the other?

Yes, they can even chose to NOT include any transactions at all.

Quote
Maybe, he'll probably choose as transaction with a higher transaction fee over the one with small transaction fee, thereby causing an undue delay.
OR

This is exactly how things work if you send a transaction with x fees, and just so happen that there are enough transactions that pay x+ a fraction to keep the blocks full for say 10 days, then your transaction will be stuck for 10 days.

There is an expectation which is the miner's rewards for pool miners, most pools will include their daily reward transactions in the first block they mine regardless of the fees, the other exception is some entities such as Marathon which mines "OFAC Compliant Bitcoin Blocks", in other words, they censorship transactions coming in/going to addresses that are blacklisted by the "Office of Foreign Assets Control" even if those transactions pay 10 times more fees than the rest.

2346  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: which firmware is good for t17e? on: June 22, 2021, 11:36:14 PM
Hello
which firmware is best for replace with bitmain original firmware for t17e device ?

Thanks.

The only custom firmware I would use would be Vnish or BO+, both don't have one for the T17e model, however,  thierry4wd has a modified version of the original one which has some great reviews, you can find it here.
2347  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: PPS+ or PPLNS for short time mining (6-12h a day). on: June 22, 2021, 08:04:39 PM
At this point in time, I think PPS is the way to go, whether you are a large or a small miner, you need to go with the assumption that the pool's luck is and will be 100%, which makes the long term gains between to pools identical minus the difference in fees.

Given the competition in PPS pools, you can find solid pools with fees as low as 2.5%, the cheapest PPLNS pool would be just below 1% for small pools that hardly find a block and might never find a block from now on, the larger once will have a higher fee, but let's just say it's 1.5%, so the difference is 1% in fees, would you rather save 1% and risk losing a day or a week or even 11 months worth of mining just to save that massive 1%?

2348  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Massive drop in Hashrate (50%) ~100 ExH/S on: June 22, 2021, 05:28:19 PM
best comment here, but where do u buy the hw? I'm here in asia, and I don't see any, everything is 'out of stock', hdd's, gpu's, .. power-supplys all is GONE

Maybe because you are searching in the wrong place, prices fell in China just a while ago, for that to reflect on other regions it will take some time, but it will most certainly happen, if you want to take advantage of the current prices in China you need to contact Chinese sellers, most of these websites are not based in China, and most Chinese sellers do their sales on telegram and Alibaba/Aliexpress.

There are a few Chinese sellers in this forum, you can find their sale posts in the hardware market place
2349  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S17 + red LED lights up continuously. on: June 22, 2021, 11:27:06 AM
I have an S17 + where the red LED lights up permanently.
Since the LED has been on, I can no longer find it in the network.

Assuming you performed the reset in the correct way "which I doubt", then the control board is likely dead, but before jumping to a conclusion, you have to Sdcard the control board.

Go to this link > https://service.bitmain.com/support/download?product=Flashing%20SD%20card%20with%20image

Download (SD_S17+.rar), get a Sdcard ready, format it to FAT32, and follow the steps mentioned here.

But before doing all that, try to use a different LAN cable.
2350  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: is there any apps in phone that can mining BTC? on: June 22, 2021, 09:56:05 AM
It has since been taken off the Google Play Store in accordance with their updated policies, but I used to use an app called Crypto Miner by Jesus Oliver. That's legit -- actually mines... albeit very, VERY slowly, as everyone else in the thread has already noted.

It's highly unlikely that your mobile phone will hit a share that gets accepted by any mining pool, in other words, that app you mentioned or any other app for that matter does not really mine bitcoin, the most common thing they do is collect your data and sell it for marketing purposes, they get paid for it and pay you a small portion, there could be a few more ways they can make money of your phone resources, mining bitcoin isn't one of them, so just because an app pays you something (large or small) it does mean it actually mines bitcoin, it's most certainly doing something else that generates some sort of a revenue someway, somehow.

2351  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS & Braiins OS+ custom ASIC firmware: optimize performance & efficiency on: June 22, 2021, 12:34:33 AM
Not sure what your 'simple' math is, but you're talking about faulty miners and putting them back together with bits a pieces.

it is simple logic, some of these custom firmware do "revive" hash boards that the stock firmware fails to detect because it is a piece of shit for most miners, getting a hashboard back to life and paying 2%, 3% or even 5% is, of course, a lot better than saving on fees with your hash boards sitting on the sideline earning you nothing.

Another major advantage is the auto-tune, the stock firmware sets everything at default, custom firmware such as BO+ reduce the power consumption by a good margin which makes the fees justifiable as far as the user is concerned because if I can save a total of $100 on power and pay $20 on fees, I'll happily accept it, in fact, I believe anyone with common sense would, not sure about you.

psus are all hard to find.

I think grace has PSUs for the 17 and 19 series in stock for 200+.
2352  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Massive drop in Hashrate (50%) ~100 ExH/S on: June 22, 2021, 12:11:11 AM
So there are people wanting the gear

There is always someone who wants some gears, most of the time it's the noobs who can't do the math and think mining bitcoin will make them rich overnight, looking at the big picture, Bitcoin mining gears prices took a huge dive in China, today, S19 pro was sold for $7980, all the way down from 15k a few weeks ago, difficulty needs to go 12.5T or price to 60k for those who bought S19s at 15k to actually ROI within a year or so, and honestly I don't see either happening anytime soon.

With that being said, if someone is fully positioned in fiat and wants to start mining, the current prices are far less risky, it might be a good idea to start accumulating gears now, especially that it seems like the sideways boring market is going to last for a few months, it's the best time for mining as it easily beats the buy-n-hodl model.

2354  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: AvalonMiner 1066-50 not hashing on: June 21, 2021, 12:00:45 AM
If all 12 units stopped hashing at the same time then it's likely a pool/network-related issue, can you try a different pool? I don't have AvalonMiner but with Antminers you can ping the pool using the miner, I suppose Avalon would have even more network troubleshooting tools.

2356  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S17+ Temp sensors problem on: June 19, 2021, 09:44:03 PM
-First symptom was "0 Asic found". I repaired a few cold solder joints. ( I measured CLK pins with an oscilloscope )
-After repair Test Fixture found 65 ASIC chips, but then showed the problem with thermal sensors.
-Then i found on 1 ASIC chip only 1,3Volts on pins(CO-RI-RST), another cold solder, problem with 1V8 power supply line.
-Then i found bad resistance among 1V8 power supply lines. I measured the first and the last ASIC chip in the line (5-Asics in line). Resistance was 2-3 Ohms but must be 0-Ohms. -> Another cold solder

Would you explain more about "cold solder" did you find some solder balls shorting some legs/pins? it would be great if you could share some more info (photos would be really nice).

What firmware is installed on this machine? can you test with custom firmware like Vnish or BO+ ? I prefer the former, you can get it on Asic.to or AwoesomeMiner website (both have some fees 2-3%), these custom firmware "ignore" some things that the stock does not, there is a good chance that the miner might work with custom firmware.

# 0: pattern test
# 1: only find asic

Great that you chimed in, what does the pattern test actually do aside from counting chips?

At first when you turn on, the main panel it indicates "socket connect failed connection refused" but after a while it normalizes and it seems that it would start to work but the hash does not raise.

It's pretty normal for the miner to show socket connection failed when it's booting, don't worry about that.

Seems like the voltage is a bit too low, it's likely that you have a bad PSU, can you confirm if all 3 fans on the PSU are spinning? also can you test 1 hash board at a time?
