1401  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S17 controlboard cannot find IP. on: October 03, 2022, 01:02:40 AM
Hi, try with braiins OS Firmware not work.. :/
Thanks

Did you try a hard reset? you can do that by pressing the IP report button while the board is powered off, keep pressing the button while using your other hand to reach to the 12v cable and plug it in, keep that IP report button pressed for at least 10 seconds, the control board should blink, and that would signal a successful hard reset which could bring it back to life.
1402  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2022 Diff thread. on: October 03, 2022, 12:10:08 AM
It is early and  maybe the network is lucky

hmmm  24,000 x 2080 that was my shipping to USA  a total of 49,920,000 pretend it all came to USA this means 30% import tax or 15 million import taxes.

We are at 111.9% right now, this can't be "luck", it's real, maybe not sustained but a large increase is almost certain for this epoch.

The large U.S cors just keep "eating" their own profit, every gear they add cuts the profit of their previous gears, but nobody can stop because others are not willing to, imagine a scenario where those large players gather around a round table and decide to stop increasing difficulty, wouldn't that be more reasonable? Cheesy

Meanwhile, the stock market had a terrible close below the low of June, so more likely than not, the general markets will take a large hit, and BTC will retest its June low's at 17.5k, hopefully, if this happens, some large players start hurting and stop with these massive shipments.

1403  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Concept of bitcoin mining on: October 02, 2022, 11:41:32 PM
Do you think anyone would give out free BTC for just referring people to download their app? Absolutely not.

Why not? It's possible, if I had an app that makes me money either by displaying ads, stealing user information, credit card, or any other valuable data, I would be more than happy to pay some BTC for people sending my app/virus/malware to others, in reality, some of these apps are actually legit in the aspect of paying you some value in the form of BTC, it's just that the amount you would get is pretty small and you would need to distribute it to hundreds of people to actually earn an amount that passes the withdrawal threshold, so you either make all your friends and family hate you for sending them all those invitation links, or use other means to "force" those apps to be installed on their phones, essentially "stealing", so ya, those apps do work, but they don't.
1404  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S17 controlboard cannot find IP. on: October 01, 2022, 11:54:32 PM

I watched the video and that looks like an S17 control board, so where does that S19 come into play here? anyway, the green led is constantly on which is bad, it has to blink a bit when booting, and the boot files in this control board are missing/corrupted.

You need to go to https://shop.bitmain.com/support/download and download the TF file under the name > sd_set_default_password_enhanced_0527_S17.zip, follow the flash instructions.

1405  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS+ support thread on: October 01, 2022, 11:09:53 PM
So long as it does not die within warranty they don't care.

and besides that, they probably know that most people won't send a whole unit just to get a PSU repair, which is what is happening, many PSUs fail within the warranty timeframe and they don't get any repair tickets for that, because it's almost always cheaper and more reasonable to just buy a spare PSU locally than having to send the miner in for a few weeks/months and still have to pay shipment fees and all, so they know they can easily get away with PSUs that die in no time.

none that are Toyota HyLux reliable.

lol, I can vouch, my grandfather had a 1988 hilux  , it was a tank, when we were young my cousins and I would spend the summer in the farm, he would wake us up at 5-6 am to walk the sheep and we would come back at noon, he would take a nap and we would steal the car keys and drive it (actually abuse it) around the farm, we did some unintentional off-roading with it and we didn't even know how to probably shift the gear, honestly, we were barely tall enough to see what was in front unless it was a large tree Cheesy, my Jeep now can hardly do half of that before needing a major repair.
1406  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: PROBLEM WITH AISEN A1 PRO 21T LOVEMINER on: October 01, 2022, 12:10:12 AM
i checked the fans and one of them is broke, there is some plastic missing and some broke, so i think thats why,
can be that the problem that doesnt mine ?

OF COURSE, I mean the kernel log is telling you that there is something wrong with the fans, and then you see a broken piece on the fan, what else do you think the problem could be? there is no work around, you need to replace the fans and ONLY then troubleshoot further if the issue persists, but before doing that, you are just wasting your time.

Would you mind to try to flash it with BraiinsOS?

Since when did BO start to support this kind of mining gear?
1407  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2022 Diff thread. on: September 30, 2022, 11:25:46 PM
I was half joking with that but only half,

Such a relief. Cheesy

not that I would even plan on doing so but I remembered how used gear that was one step away from being sold at scrap metal prices suddenly become 5x more expensive than normal. Of course, I might get things wrong since at that time I wasn't mining and I wasn't following the pieces that close but didn't s9 spike from something like $75 to $500 and even over it?

True, but you then that was 3k BTC vs 60k BTC, and it only happened after a few years, so not only would you make 3 times more profit by buying BTC, you wouldn't have to worry about storing them, shipping them, getting scammed by eBay buyers and everything else, the only way this would play out would be if difficulty went down, manufacturing gears is no longer a thing, then ya, but as long as none of that is happening, the gear will lose BTC value while holding BTC itself isn't.

I see Phil got lucky, the S19Pro are sold out,w what's left are the 95Th at $3230, meh!!!

Indeed he did, but that $3230 price is way off, the price for those gears is 19-20$ per TH elsewhere, the Pro is 24-25$ per TH.
1408  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 1246 network status not working. on: September 29, 2022, 12:40:11 PM
So if anyone had a firmware for an Avalon 1246 with A3200 chips please contact me.

I tried to find the firmware for you, but sadly, no mention of "N" version anywhere, in fact, even the other version is not available on their website > https://download.canaan-creative.com/avalon1246/app/  they have not uploaded anything to this link, so it seems like you are going to need to contact them directly.

1409  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: PROBLEM WITH AISEN A1 PRO 21T LOVEMINER on: September 29, 2022, 12:07:03 PM
The kernel shows you have a problem with your fans

Code:
Sep 29 04:58:11 rockchip cgminer[1621]: Fan speed abnormal: Fan0: 9540, Fan1: 6150, ratio0:106, ratio1:68, (0x5a, 0x1, 0x1e, 0x4b, 0x3, 0x0, 0x0)!!!

Not sure which ratio it needs exactly but it's obviously not happy with Fan1 spinning at 6k RPMs while fan0 is above 9k, however, I doubt your fan0 is actually going that fast, it makes no sense, so it could be something else that is causing the bad readings, but you can't get come to any conclusion before trying different fans, for now, just switch the fan cables and see if fan1 starts spinning at 9k.
1410  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Where to fix your Asic miners. on: September 29, 2022, 02:02:53 AM
Here is my USA miner repair site:
https://repair.scottscryptomining.com/repair/

For those who don't know Scott, he owns a mining-related company in the U.S, he has a great reputation in the telegram's mining community, I have know him since 2019 IIRC, glad to see him offering repair services, hopefully, we get to read some good reviews on his service in this thread soon.

Good luck.
1411  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS+ support thread on: September 29, 2022, 12:39:05 AM
Now as to *why* BM,  Canaan, et al can't seem to have a more reliable PSU built is a mystery to me. It ain't rocket science to design a multi-kw PSU...

It's because they are cheap, they try to reduce the cost at the expense of other things, I think they set a fixed price for the cost and ask their engineers to design something within that price, all these asic miners manufacturers companies do some stupid shit that nothing justifies it except being cheap.

MicroBT do make some solid PSUs and they have a very low failure rate unlike Bitmain and Canaan, but for some reason (probably cost again) they suddenly switched from using 6 flat pins to 4 square pins, so if have a miner that has the flat pin connector when you change the PSU you are going to have to buy a new set of fans and those fans are not cheap, by doing this, they make keeping spare parts a harder job, now you need to have spare fans for both PSU types that are used by the same miner model.

Oh, did I miss my chance of saying difficulty is going down, price is recovering above 20k, and everything is fine again?

There we go again  Cheesy

but right now I feel like the best way to profit would be to buy the miners, let them in their boxes and sell them as new once this bearish period is over.

Such a terrible idea, all mining gears lose BTC value over time, if one is confident that price will recover at one point, buying BTC directly is the best thing to do, however, I am also preparing for perhaps one last expansion this cycle, not because I think the markets are going to hit the sky tomorrow, but because I think we are close to the bottom than we were months ago, and I also think this side-ways action will still be there for months.

IMO, the best time to invest in mining gears is when buying BTC or even holding cash can't yield you anything, this is exactly what happens in a no-action market, like the one we have no and are about to have for months, while I do think we might still have one more leg to the downside, I chose not to try and time the market but rather DCA into the expansion, thankfully, I made good decisions before the collapse and expanded the infrastructure, because doing that now would be a terrible idea, so it's just about time.

So ya, I am shopping for mining gears now, just kind of hard to make up my mind, I know I want Whatsminers just can't decide on whether to risk buying used at nearly half the price or just get the new, the used ones are either M20s or M21s both which I have tested intensively and am very satisfied with, the new ones will be either M31s or M31s, I could possibly mix here and there but I hate to do that, I prefer to get the gear type so that I won't be needing many spares, just 1-2 PSUs, control boards and a couple of fans and then as the miners age, some of them will give you those spare parts for free, but either way, I should fill up the whole space by year-end one way or the other.

1414  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2022 Diff thread. on: September 28, 2022, 11:29:01 AM
maybe we go to -3%

So 2.13% drop, on the other side 6% drop in the past 24 hours for btc price, currently trading at 18.8k with no clear sign of any recovery, the war is escalating and everything is going south.

Meanwhile, while we are still way too early in this epoch, the current pace is 112%
1415  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2022 Diff thread. on: September 27, 2022, 11:15:50 AM
buying these make sense as i cant lose more than 3.6k at worse.

upside is a lot.

I will be buying and expanding for the next six months.

It makes sense to buy one and wait, test it for a while and then make decisions accordingly, this minimizes the risk of falling for a whole bad batch as most batches from bitmain differed in quality.

I also believe it's now the right time to start slowly expanding, I believe we have at least a year of a boring bear market whereby holding BTC is not going to yield anything.
1416  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2022 Diff thread. on: September 26, 2022, 10:44:00 PM
[if wholesale prices go lower and again a few stars align again I might be able to keep mining, but still, I give it like 0.1-1% chances.

Hopefully, in the next spring, any thing before that is probably unrealistic.

At 21 cents per TH/s that S19j Bitmain offers needs one full year of this flat diff and zero cents per kWh to ROI.

Well, things haven't changed that much despite the gear being 5x cheaper, completely ignoring that S19 with 34$/T and going for the pro, at $1900 and 7.20$ per day fee electricity that's 263 days, 8 and a half months, at 3cent per kWh its roughly a year and a few days.

You didn't have to dig this far for the post lol, I just mentioned a few weeks ago that buying S19 at 10k back then made a lot of sense than buying it at 4k 2 weeks ago, the math is rather simple, the difficulty is up 20-30%, price is down 60%, so for gears to make any sense they had drop by 80% or so, in fact, they should drop more given that the "desire" to buy mining gears in a bear market is less than that in the bull market.

@PhillI think 2k for S19 pro is a good buy, my only concern is that I don't trust Bitmain, I had a dream/nightmare about them selling the very low quality gears which failed some QC at a cheaper price lol, I am for real tho, after the terrible experience I had with the 17 series, I just can't touch Bitmain ever again.
1417  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Hosted mining service for Bitcoin Mining on: September 26, 2022, 08:45:25 PM
If you did a bit of browsing you would have stumbled upon my topic The risk of NOT actually owning your mining hardware, where you can see many theories and real-life examples of how terrible the idea of transferring the ownership of your miners to someone else, which is exactly what hosting is, there is always a good chance that things go south when the things you think you own are actually owned by someone else.

1419  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: XP Error on: September 26, 2022, 12:00:02 AM
If its different from the old s19 units then he can just point the blower or hotair on the front of the heatsink near on that chip just to give a bit heat because some parts is not fully soldered there some parts have cold solder joint. So giving them a heat can melt it and gives more contact from chips to the board.

You need to understand that solder issues and heatsink issues are completely different, and they result in different logs regardless of the miner model, if there is an issue with the solder whereby the chip is not in contact with the hashboard, it will cause a board failure such as missing asics or no asics at all.

On the other hand, a loose heatsink will not display any error, in fact, the miner will read all Asics and will run just fine for a few seconds and then stop after throwing a temp error, many people (myself included) thought the issue with the 17 series was about heatsinks losing contact to the chip, but no, it turns out that it's the actual chip, you can confirm that yourself by taking out a few heatsinks and the miner will still get full asic count, mine for a while and those chips without heatsink will without a doubt pass the max temp in a few seconds and will display "over-temp on chain x" power off.
1420  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: XP Error on: September 25, 2022, 10:50:58 AM

Thanks - I swapped cables / hashboards from another XP on Chain 2 (one of the 3 hashboards) and it cleared the error.

I have another one with the same error on Chain 0 so I know what to do now.

I will need to send these hashboards off for testing / repair but at least I have a whole rig running.  Thanks for the suggestion!

Great news, have you actually swapped the hashboard from another miner? It was not possible to mix and match on the previous generation, hopefully the XP works differently.

@Bitmaxz, this is not possible with the new gen miners, the heatsink on the chip front is one whole large block attached with solder/thermal and screws, no way it would do anything like that.
