Nice to know my prize money is ready and waiting in escrow. Thanks SB/Cro2 Wink

Obviously, I chose to do very badly at the beginning but you know, it's a marathon and all that, to quote Arteta. Heh.

BVB shoulda had a second, but to be fair, they needed a wonder goal to break through Chelski, so it's cool. Benfica almost lived up to their billing (they had the lowest odds on over 3 goals market so people were expecting big goals) but I'm hoping Napoli want a repeat of Ajax whipping... Seems to me there is a greater disparity in points between players than at the WC. Of course, only because we're barely halfway through Wink

Tonight, many people will be watching the match Barcelona - Manchester United, but I'm a little surprised how the bookmakers distributed odds of 1.74 for Barcelona to win, against 4.9 for Manchester United.

At first it confused me a little, but then I remembered the recent match between Barcelona and Real Madrid, where Barcelona were also favorites, and in that match they won confidently.

One thing I know for sure, it will be very difficult for the team of Eric ten Hag at the Camp Nou, the last time Barcelona lost to Bayern in October 2022, since then Xavi's wards have not known defeat. Manchester United are a good team, but I doubt they can beat Barcelona away, a draw in this match would be considered an acceptable result for them.

Yep. As Slaman mentioned above, I'm also not too happy with the odds. I feel it should have been almost equal at least. Then again, Barca is probably one of the most in-form top teams in Europe now along with Napoli. Ajax? Bayern? Real? City? Arsenal? PSG? They're all struggling to maintain the kind of performance you expect from them.

United have been collecting points and goals steadily though. Probably most improved seed in 2023.

de Jong's the guy to look out for. Wanted to stay, club didn't really want him, United wants him. Point to prove? Hell yeah.

^ So right, individual errors gave City the win and you just can't do that. The first goal I actually missed, but the second one? Trying some fancy backpass with City players hovering around you on the edge of your box? That's irresponsible.

Also, something I kept asking myself: shouldn't Ederson have been sent off? He was on a yellow, and it was a foul for the penalty... surprised I didn't hear commentary about it. Seemed to me like the ref didn't want to kill the game but I thought, it had to be given.

I put City on two of my tickets, suspecting that Arsenal would not deal with the Brentford VAR incident well and I feel like I was right. Arteta antics on the touchline... reminds me their discipline problem (and mentality) hasn't quite been put to bed yet. They need a reset of mindframe, no better time than next game at Villa.

Yeah I bought this one a couple of years ago (auction here).

I definitely don't think these types of collectibles are fully safe/secure, as pointed out above, you're only trusting the manufacturer who hopefully is completely removed from the maker, but even so. Almost every collectible I've ever bought has been given away, hopefully to spread the virus Wink

This one I kept though, but might give it away some day. I bought it partly because of the culture of where I come from. It has some significance in the serial # (I know how important it is to people) and I'm pretty sure at some point down the line, I would be able to recoup the BTC once Bitcoin (and these kinds of wallets) become more prominent.

And the Lees, anyway, I feel are decent people...

Hello! Yeah, F1 about to start again, had no idea. Count me in as usual. As jeremypwr points out, even signing up gets you half the fee back. Then you need one yellow cap (all I managed haha) to make it a positive return in value.

Come man, stop lying , you know we are gonna use that freebet on a multi bet with really high odds and ending without profit  Grin . Or mega profit.....

I remember one guy who doesnt come and play i dont remember his name very good, something like Tro** o no wait its so obvious maybe ***fo.

My most recent freebet was on a "small" 44/10 or something value, and it immediately got killed on the first leg last night. So yeah, who are we kidding. Mega profit, or nothing, right?

There's another guy I know, name starts with "T" and ends with "rofo", he might actually do well if he competes in a pool he isn't managing.

Don't be like me. Join pools and competitions and forget to do stuff (cough cough FPL).
2386  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for February on: February 15, 2023, 06:46:25 PM
I mean a point when there are less sellers than buyers...  Meaning sell downs happen less and buy ups happen more.  I think we're starting to get to that point or at least when it goes to the 16k - 18k range maybd it does go to that point.  If so then BTC could be range bound from 16k to around 23k - 24k range...  Like sellers  only start to come out at 23k - 24k.  Dunno but seems like we aleeady hit bottom.  I've been thinking about it more lately as I've been here for a long time and I never really bought 'the bottom'.  I usually just buy the momentum and go with it.  Lol.  Leaves some money at the table.

Which, if you're right, means they're just about to pop up then with today's surge looking to retake lost ground above 23k.

Buying bottoms? Not really my thing, as it means setting aside cash for that...

I actually never sold any tops, but have been able to benefit slightly from bottoms thanks to DCA, I'm usually less concerned about that as Bitcoin spends a lot of time near the floor... my hope is I actually call the next top as I'm not getting any younger!
2387  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: February 15, 2023, 05:24:06 PM
However, the best football is still played in Europe, both national team and club football, and Europe still invests the most in football.

I might agree the best football is with club football, but I actually can't say I watch a lot of non-European football these days. But a lot of that is because of non-European players playing in those leagues.

But national teams? Surely the World Cups prove that the home of the best football is arguable. I think I've seen plenty of the past 2 or 3, and even when stretching back my memory to 1998 and 2002, some of the worst football is played by European teams, the very best from South America, while we get exciting moments from Asia and Africa.

Of course, what is "best" is subjective. I personally like physicality and positive play. I watched some of the worst top football in recent memory seeing England, Germany, Belgium, even Spain minus their first game... but I loved how Japan served powerful dogged battles in every game. Hell, even Morocco was adrenaline-inducing most of their games. I believe it's more common than that small sample.
2388  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League 2022/2023 on: February 15, 2023, 04:15:33 PM
Yeah, one acca dead in the water because of Burnley. I still feel it was the right bet to make on their form (and on Watford's) -- as you point out, they had more chances, and 9/10 times they win this one, and Watford don't score their only shot on target.

Nothing else on my radar today, too late to add Blades ML on another ticket, as I've kind of got my laces all tied up already!

P.S. Warnock's back haha, and Huddersfield will hope their Messiah brings them assurance of safety. I think he just might too.
2389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🦊 Betnomi.com | Champions League Pool ⚽️ Discussion Thread on: February 15, 2023, 03:07:53 PM
Curses on KTChampions. I should lock my picks from Round of 16 and copy his for betting...

While for Paris is way over and if we don't bet on Bayern to qualify a lot of money despite the low odd but I don't believe it will be that low then we are deeply stupid  Grin. The game was dominated by Bayern Munchen and they could have even scored more goals but it was all thanks to the Paris goalkeeper that the score stayed at just 0-1 for Bayern, still good enough to make them much closer than Paris to further qualification.

I would almost say the same with certainty but Mbappe apparently made a huge difference on his cameo and if he's back for the return leg, Bayern are going to find it difficult (will Mane be back by then though?).

Milan are going through a very terrible patch, but Tottenham look even worse and Milan were impressive today, forgive me but it's the end of the road for Conte's men imo, and quite off track but what the fuck does Harry Kane actually offer as a striker ?? He does make forward runs when the winger and midfielders are looking for open runs, he spends most of his time tracking back and playing much more like a #10, I think Conte really needs to start playing Richarlison much more or create a room for him and Kane together on the pitch, because if Kane is to remain their biggest goal threat, and he still plays like this, I'd be surprise they still manage to score 15 goals in all competition for the rest of the season.

Yeah I went for Spurs in my quiz picks... I'm a big, big fan of some of the Spurs players, none more so than Son and it hurts me even as a neutral to see him struggle and I keep wondering if it's because of Kane, despite their obvious winning partnership. I don't think he sucks, I just think the team can't move on if it's always about him. This Milan team was there for the taking, and they couldn't.

Devil's advocate in me wants the Kane to United rumour to prove true, so Spurs can really move around their pieces more dynamically.

It's a weird season isn't it? Last season's stars all muddling about in obscurity (Salah, Son the most obvious as joint Golden Boot holders)...
2390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: February 15, 2023, 01:55:40 PM
Arsenal City trap today? BTTS seems best value, and if you're a believer in either, then the value of ML is unrivalled, especially for City. Heart wants the Gunners to win, head says they might already be headed for a crumble (VAR stealing their points will be a test of their character).

congrats on win

I would add that match was much better than expected
expected a nervous fight, and it was much more than that, Liverpool was indeed better team, although if header before the first Liverpool goal hit the target we would maybe have a bit more to fight for, but Liverpool was better than in previous matches certainly and obviously have much better team at the moment

Everton was playing without any attacker, so one shot on target is above expected Wink

Thanks! Yeah I actually cheered for the goal and it's been a while (even when we did score before I was just too pessimistic to celebrate). What I noticed is our odds for Real and Newcastle (our next games) haven't shifted so bookies are clearly not convinced...

Everton need DCL back asap.

Would have been a very different game if that corner went in. Instead of 0-1 it was instantly 1-0 and the whole dynamic changed.
You could immediately see how more relaxed we were, we weren't in the lead that often in recent months.

We needed this win and overall we played a good game, yes. It has to be said that Everton is horrible though.

I'm hoping we get the same lead in our next two games, and then the Reds machine can get rolling again. Jota, Bobby, VVD slowly coming back from injury... you know what else I think was important? Starting Hendo. I know he hasn't been great but he's still a better influencer these days.

Bajcetic though. Hands up here I wasn't convinced in his first big appearance (cup) but he's been a much-needed "old Liverpool style" player we're putting on the pitch. So good to see.

Champions League takes stage but I'm probably going to find time to watch the bigger match: Arsenal host Citeh at home. Huge load of specials on offer: https://sportsbet.io/sports/sportsbet-specials/daily-specials/english-premier-league/matches

I put a bit of money on the Saka one (9/1) but I think the best value is the first special (BTTS, 1 card each, 1 corner each per half) at 3.65. Wish this wasn't on a Wednesday though...
2392  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2022/23 | Group Stage on: February 15, 2023, 09:43:15 AM
CL is already at the KO stages.  buwaytress change the title and let's get more people in here.  One CL thread nobody likes to talk to me and the other one has a ton of people saying the same things over and over.  Nobody likes to talk to me there too.  I just need a little betting advice from everybody but nobody likes to share their leans, picks and analysis.  Cheesy

Anyway, Club Bruges vs Benfica and BVB vs Chelsea.  No idea how these other clubs are doing other than Chelsea.  But I know enough to know that Benfica is better than Bruges and BVB is a decent club in the Bundesliga.  At first glance I like Benfica to win with under 4.5 goals combo at 2.02 and BVB double chance to win or draw and BTTS combo at 2.29.  What do you guys think?

Title changed. Real life so busy I was sure I posted something in here to revive the thread but seems I was mistaken. Funny how your memory works in old(er) age heh.

There were complaints before about this thread being moderated but there you go, create a non-moderated one and it's a spam festival. Try to report them, especially the blatantly obvious ones.

Benfica the obvious choice, Bruges had a really good group stage but I doubt that is sustainable. BVB seems to be the natural choice too (it's my pick) but Chelski could perform in Europe, they certainly have the personnel.

In BSFL, I can see a number of people are tipping Benfica to win by the biggest scoreline.

At 2/1 your picks look good, problem is I don't trust Chelsea to score, but Benfica win and under 4.5 seems pretty safe!

2393  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🦊 Betnomi.com | Champions League Pool ⚽️ Discussion Thread on: February 14, 2023, 10:04:53 PM
OK so Bayern won, as I expected, just perhaps not with the scoreline I thought. And deserved too, on evidence of possession, corners, attempts, it was just the team who tried more that was rewarded. PSG will fancy their chances on the return leg, though, with most of their key stars expected to play fully fit unlike tonight.

Milan Spurs was really a lottery draw as far as I'm concerned, as stats show it was more even than the scorelines displayed. I thought Spurs would bounce back from their horrible outing to Leicester, especially with Milan indifference in Serie A... how wrong.

Didn't watch any of it though. Dinner was not an option...
2394  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC bulls back? on: February 14, 2023, 07:27:20 PM
Well no I do not think the bulls are back. When they are back we see big gains and there is no need to ask if they are back. It is just known when they return.
Watching the Bitcoin price closely and I think this is still a 'bear market'. I have seen news about Bitcoin in the news might be making some investors not invest their fiat yet. It will happen just we dont know when that will be.
Hedge fund Pantera Capital thinks that Bitcoin is already in its 'next bull market cycle'. https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-is-already-in-its-next-bull-market-cycle-pantera-capital

Neither do I, I just don't think they ever returned in the past month, so hard to be back when they never were there to be gone in the first place Wink

Yes, the market surged and price improved but we're not seeing quite enough volume and sustained levels to indicate bulls sitting down and putting up buy walls. Not that I'm any more of an expert but Pantera seems to be jumping the gun...

Grin How many bets do you have to lose to stop betting on Liverpool?

By the way, an hour ago I got an email from Bethnomi that they gave me a $20 free bet on the ongoing World Cup. I puzzled for a long time about which World Cup we are talking about, then I looked at the conditions of this free bet and it turned out that we are talking about the already completed Football World Cup  Grin Has anyone else received such a letter today?

Probably all the money I have and I don't haha! Yeah I got the email too, it's a bug as icopress notes, but the instructions on that landing page are still helpful as I had to figure out where/how to place that bet haha.
2396  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Conference League Discussion Thread -- 2022/23 | Group Stages on: February 14, 2023, 01:47:24 PM
Wake up, boys and girl. Europa Conference starts again. I might actually get to see a couple of games just to re-familiarise myself with teams again. My eye is on Cluj, who are 10/1 to beat Roma at home. Probably not the best bet to take on paper, but Mou's team has had a stuttering 2023, winning only once in the last four games, while Cluj themselves have been losing the last two games.

Something has to give and I think it's a Romanian upset.

I know everyone's all eyes on Champions League, and all for good reason but there's a special game I'm putting money on and that's Barca-United... in a world where City and Liverpool, before them Real, Bayern etc, have all set straight wins records across all competitions (I can't count teams like Ajax, can I?) Xavi will be aiming to create a new record with 12 straight wins.

And his team is better, works harder, and hungrier. Anyone else watching the next ties?

my point was.
when people shout moores law and say we are at the end

i recall when i was last at the edges of the end of moores law in computing over 25 years ago
.. until it wasnt the end and life moved on

I recall that same period too. The excitement of zip drives (I invested pretty heavily in that dealing with clients and showing them graphics and stuff on the move), the deals I thought were crazy in those days to buy new drives. The memory disks for Playstation that we thought were amazing... this was back when we were doing our best to keep file sizes low, compressing images on websites. Even had all kinds of golden rules for uploading things so people don't die on dialup waiting to load our sites.

Now we're uploading things to the best resolution possible, and my kids are eating up hundreds of gbs of data on their phones daily.

So yeah, I don't think we're at the edge, or that edge is getting farther out than is possible for most.

Big deal 500gb =D
2399  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: February 14, 2023, 08:37:21 AM
So Liverpool returning to winning ways, was about time if you ask me. Did not watch the game so just one question. Was Liverpool that good or was Everton just poor? Want to judge them properly to maybe sieze some opportunity for bet against Newcastle.

Newcastle has dropped the form a bit and this match does not look as difficult as it would be a couple of weeks ago.

All those players coming back should help even more.

My (probably incredibly biased) view: we were good. Fabinho played his best game in a long time (not that he was great, he was just doing his job and only 1 silly tackle), Bajcetic was superb, Robbo was to me the best player on the field, you never leave him out of a derby. Nunez was his usual threat, and usually not converting but I insist he is being unlucky.

Everton weren't poor, but clearly they were unable to produce the same levels Dyche is demanding, but on that performance they could have beaten most teams in the league.

Jota and Bobby came on to play a bit and I liked what I saw generally. 7 attempts on goal vs Everton's 1 was a fair summary.

And yes, of course I am happy to make back some money, I missed out on 17/10 but I think 16/10 against relegation strugglers was very fair value. At no point in the match did we look like we'd lose.

So proud of you @CLS63. I went far simpler than that, just betting simple ML at almost 10 mins live with every satoshi SB would allow me heh. This wasn't even coins I was supposed to have but you know how it goes (one last time). We'll both breathe easier if we get another goal or two but it's a proper derby so far!

The Salah-Nunez-Salah goal... that was so reminiscent of old Liverpool that it almost cut me to see it. Credit to Nunez, Diaz and Mane wouldn't have matched that speed. Extra painful joy was that it was a counter from an Everton header that hit the post...

I do hope that Jota, Diaz and Bobby will help us turn things around. The bigger problem is our midfield though - and that won't be solved before the summer.

Speaking of, I didn't expect to see even one of them but Jota, Bobby, even VVD were all on the bench today!
