2381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bittrex delists privacy coins, Antonopoulos terms this an attempt at ‘financial on: January 04, 2021, 10:27:19 AM
I think the privacy coins should be more reasonable in their approach to privacy/anonymity.  Instead of trying to resist the government, they should be built in a way that makes it possible for people (or things) who use them for criminal/dangerous activities are caught easily. They could achieve this without compromising on full anonymity/privacy. No Just government would disturb them if the problem is solved this way
2382  Economy / Economics / Re: Macro effects of gold stored in a metals depository versus btc on an exchange on: January 04, 2021, 09:41:27 AM
I wonder why the custodianship (of both Bitcoin and precious metals) by companies are not structured in a way that allows users control their keys and simply pay fee for security of the vaults where their Gold or Precious metals are stored... Whenever they want to access the Gold, they could simply just walk into a depository/bank (and probably provide their ID) , unlock the vault and take the Gold.  Same thing should also apply to crypto exchanges. It should be the minimum standard for operating any kind of Bitcoin/crypto exchange in order to limit the old custodial approach by financial institutions in Crypto space.
2383  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hamster powered races on: January 04, 2021, 08:45:00 AM
I guess it's one of those articles about betting with animals that makes you wonder if it's going to be abused or not.  If such thing attracts people who are willing to abuse animals and take big risk for selfish reasons then I don't think it is an idea worth encouraging.  I believe good betting space should be both useful and safe for everyone.
Hopefully it's not even real animal
2384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you ever bet on SRL events? on: January 04, 2021, 08:23:21 AM
Just hearing that for the first time.
Who or what plays the simulated matches/games, Humans, AI or both? Or does everything depend entirely on AI? If it does, I guess I will need to properly understand how the AI make decisions and work in general before placing bet.
2385  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔮 Futuur - Predict the Future! 🔮 on: January 04, 2021, 07:59:31 AM
And lastly is there any way how we can check the fairness of the game?

This piques my interest.

In a prediction market or game no one is actually in control of final outcomes. In most cases the event happening in future and turning out one way or the other is totally dependent on factors inherent within the event itself, not on some outside forces or players.

So, the fairness of outcomes is generally not in question as everyone can now see openly how it went after the event has happened

By the way, I dont really like the idea showing what people bet on in games/competition/event if the outcome can be fraudulently changed by people. I think it's better to keep bet results hidden until events are over.

Somehow people will think about how the contest run if those statistics are hidden since some will think about if there are people join in the contest, that's why in some other terms its good to show the result since it also give the other to get an interest to join while the contest is running. But anyways people have different likes about this so and I understand why you like those result to be hidden but I think the excitement will be lessen if that will happen.

I'm actually more focused on the consequences of having the bet results displayed before or during a competition/game that can easily be rigged.  If such game/competition are totally beyond the control of humans or bad entity, then it may be safe to have the bet results available or shown before the Game/Competition/Event is over. Besides, I think it would be great to have option that fully protects bettors privacy/anonymity.

Another problem is that this could be abused in ways that influence bettors to bet in certain way. Bad actors could do this by pouring in money on the unpopular side.

2386  Other / Off-topic / How connected are you to the Matrix? on: January 03, 2021, 02:19:51 PM
I think you are more connected to the Matrix if you own centralized tech that allows people/things to monitor you without you realizing it.

Matrix is not the proper word to describe the situation humanity is currently in with centralized surveillance technologies. The right word will likely offend alot of people but it's the truth.
I doubt the movie Matrix captured up to 0.1% of the real situation things. I don't know much about the movie though. I hear people mention it alot and I remember watching part of it as a teen. Didn't understand it atall back then. I just enjoyed the actions. My recent views on matrix is mostly based on what I saw happening(through visions/revelations) in the spirit & physical world.

Time to put more effort in the right decentralized technology before its too late.

Note that I see nothing wrong in centralized tech if the persons or things they are centralized on can be trusted. Unfortunately, anyone who does not rely on the CREATOR of Heaven and Earth can't be trusted. This is the truth about life many have refused to accept. The CREATOR is the one who knows everything, HE is 100% real and IS the source of everything good and wonderful things we can think of.
The one who controls the Matrix is the enemy of humans.
2387  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do you handle pain? on: January 03, 2021, 01:23:02 PM
The pain cannot be tolerated, but taking painkillers will not get rid of the problem, so you need to root out the problem first.

Sometime I worry that pills for pains don't really solve the real cause of the pain instead they just suppress the pain ... so I tend to avoid them, or I would take natural "pain killers" that not only suppress the pain but also help treat the root cause of pain. My main natural pain killers are things like tea, warm water with herbs, banana(& certain fruits/veg), exercising, fasting, fresh air, etc

I try to avoid bad foods and bad drinks. They contribute alot to pains
2388  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you rely on the odds when placing bets? on: January 03, 2021, 10:45:26 AM
but this is already reflected in the odds, you have to risk $100 in order to potentially win $10, when betting on a strong team.

This is some others don't understand, they think betting on the strong team always gives them a win, but if we consider the odds, like what in your illustration, you need to win 10 times betting on a favorite in order for your $100 to win the exact amount, which is not easy based on probability.

Interesting.
I guess this means that bets on low odds don't give much profit, and you'll have to also consider the possibility of losing the $100?   I'll probably look for list of teams with reasonable profits and higher odds and research their chances of winnings... maybe their chances will be higher than anticipated by those who calculated their odds.    This still boils down on doing your own research rather than completely relying on betting sites odds. The research is what gives you an edge over other who totally rely on pre-made odds.

The bolded is correct if those who could fraudulently determine the outcome of competition/game/event do not control the betting sites that people are betting on.

2390  Other / Off-topic / Re: Ratings and Reviews on app stores can't be trusted on: December 31, 2020, 04:11:04 PM
I sometimes wonder why the reviewers don't provide evidences to backup their claims/votes. Everyone can just claim whatever they want without a way to verify the claims.
I guess the evidences could be sourced/provided through a fraud-proof manner else this could also be abused.   Maybe one of the ways to do this is to have a feature on the app store to record user's device screen live while testing apps, and automatically upload the recording on the store's review section. Reviewers can then be judged based on the evidences they provide.
2391  Economy / Economics / Re: Out of Reach on: December 31, 2020, 03:39:16 PM
I guess targets like that are made by people who want to keep buying cheaply whenever there are dumps, in anticipation of bull run like this. Anyone could do thesame thing in order to buy cheaply and have more bitcoins.
In my opinion, if Bitcoin continues to be deflationary, most/all patients investors will still benefit from it in proportion to their investments. So it doesn't matter how much bitcoin you can afford to buy with your money, if price increase, your investment will increase in similar percentage as any other investors.

Congrats.
Interested to know why they gave the "Player of the Year" Award to the other player instead of the one who has the highest vote. Are there metric they use for determining the winner... perhaps evidence-based metrics that is based on players past performances?
2393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Governance tokens - how'd they help? on: December 31, 2020, 10:28:52 AM
I think buying tokens to participate in governance could be a bad idea if they are going to be unaffordable for majority of network participants. Or it's a bad idea if only few people can afford to participate in governance.
Governance participation should be based on merit/skills/reputation, rather than the amount of money participants can afford. The token models I have seen so far are really not decentralization-friendly. A Merit-based model can be way more efficient, effective and inclusive if done correctly.
2394  Economy / Economics / Re: We, bitcoiners, should buy a bank on: December 31, 2020, 09:42:52 AM
I think we should focus more on making it possible for people to be their own bank.
I will probably support a unique kind of physical bank with thousands/millions of strong vaults that owners fully control and can always access with their keys. The owners would only need to pay fees for the additional security the bank provides.
Or you could just have a bank that allows owners to control their private keys. The bank could only facilitate transactions and offer customers services. Owners can always move their keys to another bank whenever a bank they bank on is having problems or not working.
2395  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: No 2FA and robbed of 0.097BTC on: December 31, 2020, 09:10:08 AM
I guess you should make sure what caused the loss wasnt from your side. Could someone have stolen your login information in order to do that?  Do you normally use the site without 2FA?
I wish to know if someone/people have had their funds stolen on the site in thesame manner or is this is a unique case?
2396  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔮 Futuur - Predict the Future! 🔮 on: December 31, 2020, 08:49:12 AM

If developers focus more on making  prediction/betting market acts as a solution to important problems rather than a place for the greedy and gamblers to converge then such sites might end up becoming really useful to societies.

I got your point, however casinos that are made for prediction betting will not just focus on those possible predictions about socio-economic problems. IMO, atleast the current issues and events will be good to attract gamblers to place predictions on their site. Afterall, casinos isn't founded to help society. They can help if they want to tho.

Well, if by casino you mean businesses that engage in Betting/Prediction/Games then I can assure you that many of their customers believe they are patronizing them for valuables, like money, entertainment , etc. They are offering useful services, but they could make their services more useful to consumers and society, and drastically reduce the bad effects their businesses may be having on customers & society.
Your businesses should be useful/helpful to people otherwise it's rip off.
2397  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BETCOIN.AG ARE SCAMMERS!! on: December 31, 2020, 08:17:01 AM
Seems Op Intial deposit (probably excluding his/her win) has been refunded.
I don't know about the site policy, but if it's against betting with multiple accounts (maybe in suspicious manner that favors a player) then  they are probably righ to withhold the win. According to a Betcoin.AG forum account, the use of multiple accounts happened in short space of time, between 22-29 December. This kind of behavior can actually attract suspicion.
2398  Other / Off-topic / Re: Just for fun -- what does your forum username stand for? on: December 30, 2020, 03:00:50 PM
I normally derive my internet usernames from my real name or I would just use a username that doesn't look or sound like other people's real name.    I have used other people's names in the past though but later realize that this has alot of implications even if you are not using the names for anything illegal.
So, mine is actually my real name but shortened, with little variation.
2399  Other / Off-topic / Re: Learn to TRUST on: December 30, 2020, 02:42:39 PM
Ofcourse. But we have to realize that humans are not perfect and will always fail or betray your trust, hence why it's important to always verify before trusting.

The worst a blind man could do is to trust  another blind man to lead him/her right in darkness. Most/all humans(who don't depend on the CREATOR of Heaven and Earth) are actually really blind. So you can't safely trust anyone who doesn't fully depend on the CREATOR.
2400  Economy / Economics / Re: The supply issue on: December 30, 2020, 02:23:42 PM
What matters in my opinion is the scarcity and deflationary feature. If you can keep Bitcoin immune to inflation (In whatever way that is sustainable, safe and decentralized) then the 21million cap wouldn't really matter much.
